@tekmotorsports4052 yeah mine needs done too. It's in an 03 so probably the same PIA to get it done. I just rebuilt a complete HVAC module out of a wrecking yard truck. I'm going to change that out soon so was thinking it would be a great time to upgrade the dash as well. I was thinking of covering mine in a cowhide. Maybe a Holstein or Bristol. Just a though
Thanks for the video. I almost convinced myself to glue on an overlay and be happy. 4 or 5 screws left over from not screwing down the vent hoses😂. Dash restored with a 02 Ram 1500 Dash Kit from LMC Truck. I must disagree with you on the pain in rear part. You made it rather simple after seeing and knowing this could be done without dropping the entire dash assembly.
Agreed. The real pain in the rear was the 2nd generation trucks. The new 2 piece dash cover made this so much easier and I'm so happy you don't have to yank out the whole dash assembly. I've done it before, and it suuuuucks
I know this old but thank you man! I just started this install today on my 2003 1500. Found a Dorman upper part and some other Chinese brand that arrived pre broken. So I got a dash skin brand cover to keep that part together. And it is a pain in the ass.
Going to see how the truck is..I believe I can bypass all this work😧but if I see it's pretty bad then I well have to do this.. to save you money... But you well need to waste a bit of money.. trust me it's worth it... Invest into ceramic film tint.. can go 70 ceramic tint.. pretty much stock windshield.. no tint no darkness in other words from the outside.. inside well be clear.. and say this because you well feel 95% of those uvs days completely off your face and body.. only thing I got today for cheap on Facebook.. was the small panel for the very back of the dash and 2 extra pieces of the radio concel. . But well need new parts in order to get that piece installed with it.. and get a upgraded stereo to a touchscreen and a huge quality backup camera. Since I well be going super dark all around in ceramic which is clearer view compared to crappy tint.... Got bad luck... Not even a month in and got brand new headlights for the ram 03.. LEDs installed... And was planning to get 1000 headlights.. turns out those expensive ones once they burn out.. whole new set is required which is risky if you need it the next day.. shipping and all that plays a big part for the headlights why I just went with basic lights... So some idiot backup.. and dented the very corner of the truck. And cracked the headlights..
This dash is super simple to remove from the truck and then you can remove and install new dash covers and etc.. dont do this in the truck like this guy, i give him credit he did what he had to but it's not that hard of a job if you remove the dash, it literally takes 15 minutes and about 8 bolts and a wire harness to remove the dash and have it sitting on the shop floor where you can easily do whatever you need to it and while you have the dash out you can replace all the heat/AC circulation doors with aftermarket metal ones and if your truck is older you might as well take the 5 extra minuted and change the heater core out then you would have basically the most difficult jobs in the 3rd gen interior, done and if you use good replacement parts it should last you the rest of your life👍 if you just remobe the dash. You dont have to worry about not doing rhe job correctly and half azz'ing things.. 🤘👍
Soooo how does one do this without dropping the steering wheel? Then what is the trick to change the all the blend doors without disconnecting the evaporator? I know my RECIRC door is broken. Pulled it out through the fan hole and plan to replace it. For now everything else works but slow. Pulling the dash would help get around the amp. And then could replace the cracked dash. Thank you... I see the advantage of removing the assembly. If all my doors work I think I get an ABS glue on one instead of a PVC replacement which will crack again.
My dashboard is perfect!!! The reason I’m here is because of the stupid airbag recall. I’m worried the dealer with crack my dash, so I’m gonna take it out
Oh man…. I hope for your stake it doesn’t crack when at the dealer. Hoping they have a sneaky way to remove the airbag without messing around a lot with the dash panel.
@@LuisBarucUreñaMaldonado I’m not 100% sure put I’m leaning that it only fits the RAM truck series. I didn’t find a cross reference part number to other vehicles.
So, does it rattle? I just pulled my entire dash out to fix the evaporator core and blend doors… totally forgot the vents screw to the bottom and reinstalled everything waiting for the top dash to come in… don’t really want to pull the whole dash again to put the screws in.
@@tekmotorsports4052 awesome! After this I went out side to look at my vents again to see what I could do to not pull the dash out and I stuck some padding between the big square ducts and the smaller tube ducts and then zip tied them together.. seemed really stout so I’m gonna cross my fingers and throw it back together. I don’t think it will rattle now!
I'm looking for the clips for my 08' Dodge 2500 dashboard. Had so many hands on my rig from stereo install to front bumpers and led lights. Now my dash is hanging off clip on left side above steering wheel. Audio company said wrong clip is installed so dash won't shut. Took to dealership and item is discontinued. Help
Clips… well. Looking through the video again to a refresher I only talked about are the ones on the end cap of the drivers side dash. Where I used a red plastic clip tool to remove. All others “clips” are part of each panel. Unless you’re looking for the metal clips that snap on the plastic taps on each panel. Something like these? Yes 02-05 1500 and 03-05 2500/3500 use the same dashes, in 06-09 1500,2500,3500 they changed the dash completely to a different style dash. You can change the dash out and swap them around 02-09 but to put a 06-09 dash is n you have to use the hole dash as a complete unit.. Hope it helps..

Where did you buy the smaller part, the one all the way at the back?
@YOANDRYG LMCtruck.com is where we bought both pieces but not sure if it’s a kit or can be bought separately.

How do you unscrew the screws on the vents to remove the dash cover?
You have to remove the whole dash assembly. Once it’s out, you’ll have access to the screws.
I have a 2003 1500. Will it be alike ?
Yes, it should be as gen3 trucks are from 2002-2008/2009

You should have changed the speakers while you had it apart, too. They degenerate over time and lose performance.
I need to put an evaporator in my truck just like this one you are doing. I need your help please help me out
