Good job with the video. Much appreciated. I have a new double din Kenwood Excelon stereo on the way from Crutchfield and will be putting it in sometime over the next couple weeks. I was concerned about the dash modifications but it doesn't look too bad. Oscillating tool was a good idea. Looking forward to using the new stereo not only for music, but for the backup camera and navigation apps as well. I'm replacing a Pioneer single DIN that I put in several years back. It still works great but I really wanted a larger screen after driving some newer vehicles that have them. Another great mod for me was upgrading the door speakers. I bought Kickers and they are awesome for the money. I'm currently running an inexpensive license plate backup cam that is wired to an Edge gauge set. It sorta works but the screen is too small and grainy. Anxious to see it on the big screen.

FYI, here's a tip. When filming, you should shoot in a horizontal position, this will alleviate the blocks on each side of the video and will be full screen.

Thank you for the compliment. I’m going to say this head unit is probably pretty dang close as to what will work. But I imagine as long as they make the front to fit and the unit will fit in the modified cubby, they could make something with a larger screen that will work..?

Nice abbreviated install. Did you have to cut the plastic on the top of the opening to get the radio to fit square to the front? Also, the rubber floor mats look underwhelming. Husky makes some floor mats that fit like a glove for these trucks.
Nope, didn’t have to cut any other piece. Thanks for the comment. Yeah, think I bought those floor mats in ‘07. Hahaha. I think they might even be old husky’s. Before they got into the molded mats. I should probably upgrade. Thanks for watching

@cory8791 just a little bit the last time we went up there to take more stuff. I have a couple Awesome neighbors and one that took us around the area. It’s getting extremely hard to come back with each trip. Lol… can’t wait. So much more opportunities and less ridiculous laws.
I wonder if you can use like a cordless ryobi solder to cut out the deck.
You probably could but I don't know how bad the plastic fumes would be, you could probably also do it with a Dremel cutoff wheel
Do any double din radios fit that are 6.2 inches? I’m looking for a radio that has apple CarPlay but I’m afraid it won’t fit on the double don install kit.
I’m pretty sure they will as long as the measurements match.
Would have been awesome if you went over the wiring. It’s not just connecting the colors together and all done. You may as well just showed a before and after.
Actually, on My Dodge, it was just simply connecting the colors together and there were a couple that had lines on them, but they connected to the same color wire with a line on it as well. Thanks for watching.
And does this work with the old infinity stock speakers and radio wiring etc?
@Dakota Larimer Yes, it works just fine. The Plug adapter came with the Dash kit and is color coded with very small labeling for what the wires connect too. I am not a stereo install wiring guy and it was very easy. I just connected the wires that were there. I don’t have any audio controls on my steering wheel.
What antenna adapter did you use? I’m using a universal adapter and none of them fit, is there a trick to it?
I did not use the adapter.
I have a 2002 Dakota with the same head unit and air conditioner controls and I thought it was a single din for the longest time until I saw someone else take theirs out and apparently it's a din and a 1/2 even though it looks like a double din, Do you have any measurements you can give me?
@PAKTRA PRODUCTIONS sorry to reply so late, dimensions of the head unit or what’s under the cover piece? I believe most are actually din and 1/2. I’m pretty sure that’s what mine was too.

Did you have to connect the parking brake wire into the harness. will the radio work when not parked without it connected?
@jeon person To be honest, I’m not sure/don’t remember. I just hooked up whatever wires that were there. I don’t have any issues when parked or not. Sorry couldn’t help more.

you`re supposed to "melt" the panel studs to install it, hot glue will probably fail sooner or later.
Try Krazy Glue and baking soda for a more permanent fix

@A1 hobbies :did you check the fuse? Also check the main power wire to see if it has power?
@@figsoutside1981 yes I checked the fuze that's on the stereo if that what u mean..also there's a ground wire from the stereo any idea where that goes..
There’s also a fuse in the fuse box I believe. Dang, I don’t remember if there’s a ground wire off the harness, but there should be.
Literally proceeds to not film the only difficult part.
Mine was overly simple if you’re talking about the wiring. Match red to red, purple with black line to purple with black line and so forth.
Bluetooth? I just got an 04
Yes, the player had bluetooth. Although I don’t use it. But I think my daughter used it. Actually, I have used it to connect to my cell and stream UA-cam music.

@Mason Gurney Thought I already responded, but guess I didn’t. Not showing up. Yes, the radiohead works good. The only complaint that I have is when listening to a CD, it takes a little longer than normal when switching back and forth between songs.
