Wombats are so f*cking cool, the fauna in Australia is so interesting, it's like the land that time forgot in a lot of ways. That's one country I always wanted to visit (even if you're not actually from there). I know this post is totally random but I have nothing better to do at the moment, I was very excited for The Bends (the song and the album) and Danny skipped a day which I never saw him do before I hope he's OK he's a good dude.
One of the crazy things about this album is how many really good, well written songs are on this album it's one banger after another with some really beautiful songs in between. I still think Radiohead from this era is still pretty great but maybe you can see why so many fans weren't happy when Kid A was released. Even OK Computer is still mostly a rock album and some rock fans liked the Bends better so imagine what they were like with Kid A.
@@neil3467 I actually agree to a degree, it wasn't pleasing to me at all when it came out but when I went back to it as an older, more mature listener I really liked it. I really like all their albums, even the first one has some good tunes on it and The King Of Limbs from the basement is awesome. Kid A is somewhere around 4-5 for me on the list if I were ranking them, but it's still a great album and it really took some stones to release that after they were being hailed as "the saviors of rock and roll".
I'm curious to see how much you like this album, a lot of rock fans think this is their best album and I understand why even if I don't agree. Thom's songwriting is very strong on this entire album and the lyrics are more personal and less cryptic. Some people think this album started the death knoll for Brit-pop and even though it was highly acclaimed by critics it didn't get the numbers the record company and Radiohead wanted. It wasn't as big in the US as it was in the UK although the next two albums were. I still think this is a great album and it's essential for anyone going through their full catalog. You can see the seeds for OKC in this album, just like you can see them for Kid A in OKC.
The Bends is a perfect album to react to because my only complaint about it is it's not so cohesive of an album, especially compared to their later stuff. It's more like a collection of great songs rather than an album as an art form or piece of art. It's perfect for this format though, you can enjoy each song like it's a piece of art instead, like most bands do.
Nice, been waiting for more Radiohead! Cheers!

Kid A has its moments but its legend is a bit overblown, imo. Yeah, I know I'm "supposed" to see it as a masterpiece...
