I use quantum in most runs. Never mention it cause usually I use it in an 'oh shit' situation and die anyways cause I was doomed to begin with. For example in my crafting only run I used it trying to survive mirelurk queen poison only to die anyways.
Stimpacks in Survival should be reserved for healing cripple damage in combat. For HP healing use food. For AP recovery and uh oh moments use Quantum. Refreshing Beverage is almost cheating.
Protip regarding the Ripper: Yes, it's damage is very much on the weaker side, but that is not what you should use it for. Slap the curved blade mod on it, and use it as an opener to disarm your enemies, before switching to a more damaging weapon! Should you be lucky enough to get your hands on a Kneecapping Ripper, you basically have an all-in-one disarming and crippling tool to neuter most enemies in the game.

I did this with no stealth, a ton of respect for this run. I've watched a few of your runs and I know how impressive this actually is. I did 11 endurance to start, 10 plus being overweight dropping it to 9 for picking up you're special. It's not a glitch if they intend you to be able to temporarily lower stats, right? The suiciders were hell. Dense armor was so vital. Easily got a sub from me, I love this content. Challenge runs on this game have me at over 9k hours. Now I'm gonna look for the totally naked run, I've done that one too. That was HARD.
I only found your channel yesterday, but I love your style so far! Crazy hearing MDB in this video. Oh, and there's something fun about those knights blowing up: explosions can be flagged to ignore cover, which is why it killed you through a wall. Interestingly, the Fat Man is not flagged to do that, despite it being a mini nuke.
Whenever I try to do a melee run, I always grab Big Jim from Walden Pond right away as well, the kneecapper effect seems to help a bit early on, at least in my experience. So I'm glad that idea was reinforced here. Also, the sledgehammer at Thicket Excavations provides some nice power early on.
Here is a challenge you might love. One of my favorite characters, was a character that used no weapons armor or clothes. I took the joke about going to the glowing sea naked seriously. Iron fist, all endurance perks. I built my perception enough for energy resistance, charisma for the lone wanderer, and dogmeat perks. Eventually enough strength for rooted. With a bit of work, I got my agility high enough that I could get the perk which I could run so well that it was like a travel power. I forgot the name of that perk. I also got the wasteland wander book that makes you swim faster, which turns all rivers basically into roads. Eventually built up my luck for idiot savant, bloody mess, and all the vats stuff, followed by finally filling up my strength, and agility special stats. By then, I could take direct hits from mini nukes. I never needed to carry loot, which freed my inventory for all the chems, food, water I would want. Bare hand may not hit the hardest, but it’s perfectly practical, with a good amount of attacks in vats. I had a long So I just wanted to follow through with the joke, but it would end up feeling like I had actual super powers.
It’s so refreshing to see a Fallout 4 challenge video where the YTer isn’t super violent towards the Railroad! :) That plus you’re very funny and interesting to listen to AND pushed through what seems like the most infuriating challenge ever for our entertainment?! You’ve earned a new sub :) (Plus a like and a comment!)
I like all the factions. I think they are all horribly written and I like some more than others but overall they are all alright! and thank you! I appreciate it!
Same, I get so annoyed at all the youtubers unnecessarily killing the railroad. The railroad has great quests and I think most people ignore or kill them simply because playing their quests would mean having to think critically about what makes us human and that's just too much thinking for many.
that's why my challenges are 'can I (as in me) beat the game' instead of is it possible. It's more of a test of myself than an example of what's possible. The challenge was difficult for me so I had fun with it :D
The Black Ops chest piece or other armor with Dense are a must in the harder difficulty settings. It makes it so you can withstand explosions even on survival difficulty.
Yeah, if you have a friendly Protectron active, and any turrets become hostile upon seeing you while the Protectron is around, the Protectron will turn on you. That's why it's always best to take out any errant turrets before activating any robots, or without any active robots noticing, to keep that from happening.

Here’s an idea I had for a while: What If the Sole Survivor was played by Danny Trejo. (Beat Fallout 4 with a machete, pipe guns, and Molotov cocktails)
But can you beat fallout as Dr Freeze? Get in power armor and stay in it, you will die without it. Use the Cryolator and avoid things that don’t care about the cold (bugs, mirelurk Queen, etc) run the institute to gain the tech to save your Frozen wife. Freezing legendary weapons of course allowed. Similar idea: iron man, stay in the suit (.gotta keep the metal out of your heart) and use energy weapons only. Be sure to give your armor a nice paint job in either case.
Mr Freeze can be out of his suit when in his refrigerated room, so I'd say when in your garage in red rocket you're allowed to be out of the suit. Ya know, to allow for Power Armor customization
One thing I figured out kind of by accident is that Rooted seems to increase all around melee damage greatly, not just when standing. On my melee runs its my first or second perk selection. Love this video, melee is my favorite challenge on any difficulty or ruleset
@Willow You should watch a playthrough that this UA-camr is doing, his channel name is Rhetam, he's doing a challenge run: no hit melee only survival difficulty, if he gets hit the run is over. So far it's very crazy, he does some cool tricks to survive. If you get a chance, go check it out, he's a good UA-camr as well.
I'd love to see a Mike Tyson run where you can only use boxing gloves, I can just imagine you taking down a deathclaw in the first round and feeling like a champ! Definitely earned a sub from me, Fallout 4 is my favourite game and your content is awesome, keep it up man!
Hey there Willow, update on my backwards run. Vault 88 was supposed to be an easy place for xp but the radccorpion nest and sentrybot kept ambushing me. After successfully eliminating the wildlife underground i helped out Barstow with her experiments only to make her really angry. Except with the slot machine. After that i convinced her to stay and raised the difficulty. After looking up a guide on how to get to Far Harbor, i talked to the family, stole their boat, get a warm welcome, and died to the gate. Yeah uh, no one told me that Gulpers were tough and i forgot to stock up on ammo. So i was forced to jump down from the safety of the ledge and spam the crap out of my grenades and slice them with my Sharp Steel Blade. I decided after that horrorfying experience to head back to the Common Wealth for more Radient Quests to level up a bit. While i was at it, a few more items were on sale in the Creation Club so i bought the Batman Power Armor, the Virtual Wasteland, and a few others. That somehow corrupted my save file but the run was saved by my previous save file... the gate at Far Harbor. It was at around this point that i realized i still have Porter Gage as a follower and i still dont have his follower perk. So now i am doing Arena battles in Nuka World to level up, getting quests from Mason and Mags for caps, and acquireing more settlements to increase my freindship with Gage and to drop off my overcumbered self from time to time. Oh yeah, at some point i made the mistake of leveling up a perk in the middle of a Super Mutant fight and got stuck in a death loop. Manged to get out of that mess thanks to quick button presses and spamming Nuka Cola. I think my character has gained some weight and questions my every decision now. Mostly because he keeps slowing down from time to time and he delays his actions from my commands. Though hard resetting the console straightened him out.
@@WillowPlaysGames just a little bit, taking a small break from Fallout to unwind with some Lego Harry Potter. A game that might be equally glitchy but at least its short.
19:26 - I think that's also his torture/interrogation room. If I recall there's some stimpaks and various tools on the tray table against the wall, probably what he uses to put the screws to people (and keep them from dying).
I did a challenge run back when survival difficulty first came out. A "no bullet" run. So only melee and explosives. I don't rush the end like you do. I ended up too OP to the point that it wasn't fun anymore and abandoned it. Stealth build, of course. Chameleon and ballistic weave everything. One shoting Legendary Deathclaws. Could literally crouch at the feet of something and beat it to death without it ever seeing me. Good times.
Oof. I knew that was going to be rough when you said "no Blitz," but yikes. I was considering a similar run with Unarmed weapons, which are worse, but this convinced me otherwise.
@Willow LOL, well good luck! I know on hard difficulty, Blitz and Moving Target really helped me with unarmed. Dense armor mods might help with those explosions. Or Shadowed armor if you want to go with mainly stealth. I'm irritated that Unarmed doesn't get the 10x from Ninja, just 3.5x.
hey, love your videos, just wanted to say that in future challenges, you could always try and give mama murphy chems to skip the greenetech courser fight, as giving her enough chems, she will tell you z2-47s deactivation code so you could skip the fight altogether to make future challenges easier
7:44 it's amazing how flush with caps you get when you don't have to buy ammo and instead sell it all. Melee runs are more lucrative than water farming. 😂
In fallout 76, i have a chainsaw. It ignores half of the enemys armor, it attacks 40% faster, deals bleed and fire. Armor pen and attack speed buffs are legendary effects, while the bleed and fire are mods. It is great, shredding through things.
I was kinda zoned out and when I heard MDB I figured one of his Pokémon videos was playing now. I was so confused I had to rewind to pay attention this time lmao

The fact you didn’t get Dogmeat as a companion was a wasted opportunity. After all dogs can’t shoot and they attack with their teeth. Also providing a moral booster by their permanent companion perk “Good Boy/Girl”. I still enjoyed the video, I just wanted to be the Devil’s Advocate here.

8:00 Uhh, interesting definition of 'rearrange'. You turned his head into a meat puzzle with a few missing pieces.
There's no missing pieces. We follow the law of conservation of mass under this roof!
Stumbling upon your content here and honestly its just quality videos and seeing more challenge runs from people after Mitten Squad passed makes me emotional keep up the great work
thanks! he was a cool dude and I wish I could of met him, I started out the channel about 10 months before it happened. he was an inspiration to many.
Here’s an idea I had for a while:
What If the Sole Survivor was played by Danny Trejo.
(Beat Fallout 4 with a machete, pipe guns, and Molotov cocktails)
I was not expecting my man MDB to show up for the Mass Fusion save! Nice!
@@simonkelly1410 great idea
willow ive always wanted to see genades only run meaning all throwables are the only way you can hurt people
challenge idea also love your vids dude
glad you're enjoying the videos, and this one has been requested a lot. I'm looking into it and plan to research it at some point!
No Blitz Melee run.. wow you're brave
One thing I figured out kind of by accident is that Rooted seems to increase all around melee damage greatly, not just when standing. On my melee runs its my first or second perk selection. Love this video, melee is my favorite challenge on any difficulty or ruleset
“1 luck because i break mirrors” killed me😂
lol
Ahh yes a survival melee build without blitz, that makes it a challenge enough
15:49 You used my Google assistant to Rick Roll me. Well played.
Lmao
5:10 I don't remember if I've seen that kill cam, but that was awesome and hilarious!
I feel your pain man, Good job on this though!
Glad you enjoyed and yeah I actually saw it a lot though the run;
Bro having mdb come on the video is the best part of my day
thanks! It was really fun having him cameo and I love his videos :D
Most underrated fallout youtuber ever
I appreciate the sentiment!
honest idea, go through a playthrough using only the laser musket! also again, enjoying your content!
Though hard resetting the console straightened him out.
sounds soul crushing tbh lol
@@WillowPlaysGames just a little bit, taking a small break from Fallout to unwind with some Lego Harry Potter. A game that might be equally glitchy but at least its short.
45:01 jeez, there is genuine malice behind that line
Of all things, I definitely was not expecting a Medraut cameo.
Nice.
He is a cool dude!
@WillowPlaysGames I used to be part of the peer edit team for his Pokémon creepy pastas. Super chill dude.
Its a shame that you only have 3.8k subs. Definitely deserve more.
It'll grow ^^
The answer is always yes and honestly its preferred. Smashing someones head into mulch with a super sledge while on psychobuff is therapeutic
Those mines on survival are really brutal
i was not prepared to hear mahdrybread. i was zoning out and his voice activated something in my brain
He is dope! Cool he would cameo on my third challenge.
23:30 I think the DIA is the Fallout Universe's DIA. 😊
The DIA is a real world organisation.
That was dope! I'm playing on survivor mode right now. I couldn't imagine doing it with just melee weapons 😂😂😂 Kudos to you!
it was nerve racking but in the end I had fun making the video!
@@WillowPlaysGames well i did it all the time with mainly melee as i felt it more consistent damage ^^ you just need to know how to do the stuff ;P
NGL I smiled when I heard MDB 😊. Your great and got my sun
Beat the game as a mimic, you must drop every item you have on kill and use every item from the enemy you slain, until the next kill. Then repeat
19:26 - I think that's also his torture/interrogation room. If I recall there's some stimpaks and various tools on the tray table against the wall, probably what he uses to put the screws to people (and keep them from dying).
Willow: “1 perception because who needs to see”
Me being blind in one eye: shiiiii he ain’t wrong. I say as I laugh myself to tears.
Good times.
Omg love the guest player! Nice collaboration
Not a guest player just did some voice over for me :)
I’m already hooked onto your content, it’s amazing and I cannot wait to see more from you in the future!!! :)
next up is another skyrim run! there's plenty of runs on the channel already and more to come!
Fallout 4 challenges are cool! Great content and subbed 👍
Glad you like them!
I thought you had like 100000 subscribers for quality like this. Pretty suprising to see a big fat 11k staring me in the face. Keep going!
So glad you disallowed the blitz ability, that one is so broken!
made it more interesting ^^
I think Rank 1 of it is fine. But anything else takes away a lot of challenge.
Oof. I knew that was going to be rough when you said "no Blitz," but yikes. I was considering a similar run with Unarmed weapons, which are worse, but this convinced me otherwise.
I'm probably going to do a unarmed run like this.
New sub, really loving the resurgence of fallout content and even better on the backs of new unique channels
Glad to have you on board!
Oh boy. No blitz, No lone wanderer at the start. Gonna be a run for sure.
that it was!
@@WillowPlaysGames I applaud your commitment, I've tried to do it, but always resorted to a backup gun once the going got tough.
Slab !!! did you just jump off the Buzzards Nest!!?? 😂😂
@@tryston0052 under-rated Brick reference 😂😂
hey, love your videos, just wanted to say that in future challenges, you could always try and give mama murphy chems to skip the greenetech courser fight, as giving her enough chems, she will tell you z2-47s deactivation code so you could skip the fight altogether to make future challenges easier
Finally a video where you don't lose half the footage! I can finally subscribe
Another challenge, deathless survival. You can use any method you want, but you have to beat it on survival without dying.
This would be very anxiety inducing
@Willow exactly. Lol, but it would make one helluva claim to be able to say that you beat survival difficulty without dying.
@@Bradley-ji7xv many a true nerd had a whole yolo playthrough. Great series.
7:44 it's amazing how flush with caps you get when you don't have to buy ammo and instead sell it all. Melee runs are more lucrative than water farming. 😂
got to 40 minutes, thought I was having a stroke, very nicely done - crossover made in heaven
Lol
In fallout 76, i have a chainsaw. It ignores half of the enemys armor, it attacks 40% faster, deals bleed and fire. Armor pen and attack speed buffs are legendary effects, while the bleed and fire are mods. It is great, shredding through things.
You got Mah-Dry-Bread Man here, awesome
Yeah he is dope!
i’ve been thinking about the clear inspiration from mah-dry-bread through several of your videos and then BOOM
:P
11:00 I'm hoping the whole run won't be like ArcJet Systems with Danse - cowering behind NPCs for fun and profit. 😊
I went straight to Dunwich bores and got the sacrificial blade. Thing is op
After playing FROST for a few months, I never realized how underrated a melee playstyle is.
I was kinda zoned out and when I heard MDB I figured one of his Pokémon videos was playing now. I was so confused I had to rewind to pay attention this time lmao
Lol
So first off great video i realize its a year old as i type this but by the gods the amount of plugs lol
check the pinned comment. This is an issue I agree but everyone makes mistakes and there's no way to fix this one since the video is already uploaded.
Tip for when VATS locks you in place and your character stands there like scenery: right click instantly exits VATS, and refunds unused AP, so you can reactivate VATS immediately.
Imagine if you can beat fallout 4 with only throwables, everything you throw is game, grenades, those baits from nuka world, anything.
Level 1 Nuka World, and level 1 Far Harbor, the best challenges
I like it how I alwahys knew wich wepon your were gonna get as soon as the first clue dropped
Clever
@@WillowPlaysGames no just to much time spent in the commenwehlt
Lol
Lord please protect this loving UA-camr (rip mitten squad)
The fact you didn’t get Dogmeat as a companion was a wasted opportunity. After all dogs can’t shoot and they attack with their teeth. Also providing a moral booster by their permanent companion perk “Good Boy/Girl”.
I still enjoyed the video, I just wanted to be the Devil’s Advocate here.
In my one playthrough Trudy has a legendary melee sword for sale. Can slice and dice people the old-fashioned way. xD
keep making content like this and youll be well on your way to at least 100k
I appreciate the sentiment! ^^
that was a nice surprise! great run!
Glad you enjoyed!
