I feel like a more fun challenge (for us viewers at least) would be explosives only. I wonder how many deaths would be self damage?

I always settle on the "fast travel between settlements" mod. Feels reasonable, since you need to "own" the settlement to travel to it i consider it "fair and balanced"
Especially considering the amount of crashes I suffer from. I use a similar one, it's like 5 main areas to fast travel. And after a few "entering new area" crashes I installed a quick save mod, I'm not losing 2 hours because the games broken again 😂
@@nikospurr307 consider using baka scrapheap, I've never crashed once till then and my mods are mainly re-textures and 2 heavy scripted ones(skk50 mods and pack attack from Greslin)

i have 240+ mods installed, and tbh i cant even remember when my game last crashed
@davarus I would love to see a tutorial on how! I have struggled on and off for years with wanting to mod both fallout and skyrim but load order always screws me over and I cant figure it out 😭
@@meatsmell8639 a very very useful tool is "LOOT", it sorts your mods and plugins based on their dependencies which gives you a fully automatic loadorder
you can watch tutorials on youtube about Fallout 4/ Skyrim/ Fallout NV etc. modding with LOOT

Man I wish fallout 4 had the perks that new Vegas had. Shotgun surgeon and stay back were awesome. Although I guess legendary effects serve a similar purpose
Yeah, the Fallout 4 system has some good bits, but I miss the level of specialization you could get with the older games.
Ngl, i absolutely despised the knockdown perks of NV, they're way too OP, made a joke out of the combat

As you discovered, the drawbacks of shotguns include a high risk of friendly fire. I think shotguns are the only weapon that can aggro NPCs even when you use VATS.
May I introduce explosive weapons

Unsure if anybody noticed, but at the 26:46 mark the Gunner that died dropped a Plasma Infused Double Barrel shotgun. I know it was probably a downgrade, but it's still a pretty cool occurence.
I saw it too, was wondering why he didn’t say anything about it.
Vitribird travel actually takes less in-game time than fast traveling, this is helpful when you fall behind on timed radiant quests and settlement defences.
A typical Survival run without the use of the Vertibird grenades will have far less time pass than a comparable Very Hard run with Fast Travel. I was surprised how little time had actually passed in my first Survival Playthrough when I compared it to another playthrough with similar hours played.
Finally, a use for vitribirds outside survival mode

jeez your a bit ruthless, you do not hesitate to kill, you even killed that 'Jenny' synth and just shot shaun with no second thoughts. pretty great video!
I usually know which faction I'm going with before greentech genetics so I actually choose if I'm gonna kill jenny before entering the building. I also always kill the gunners because in my mind leaving survivors just leads to people seeking revenge. I know it doesn't really but you know.
Very nice, excellent run! Justice is a pretty good weapon, makes you feel like a badass. I'm glad it holds up on Survival.
If I did this challenge, I'd ditch Per and Agi. Shotguns are one of the few weapons I prefer not using VATS with. Instead, I'd get 2 Luck for Scrounger right away, and enough Str for Steady Aim. That way I could have a reduced spread without slowing my speed to aim down the sights.
I'd say str and agi for rooted and moving target. You do need to get close to your opponent after all. Sprint up to them, and then stand still while firing, and then sprint to next target

Did you consider using splitter mods for laser rifles and plasma rifles? I feel it would have helped spice up the weapon pool
Good call. If you look at those mods, the first word says "Shotgun."
I did, Decided I'm saving them for another run.
i mean laser weapons do have a spready shotgunny barrel available in basegame maybe that would also be worth a try
Don't forget about the Tesla Rifle as well (Charging shotgun barrel)

And yes as you showed in Park St, shotguns in FO4 (unlike real life) are basically melee weapons.

Man, the combat shotgun in F4 is filthy good. I remember I was lucky to find a legendary bleeding one and wow, the bleeding damage on it just stacks so beautifully. Melts HP bars like nothing I've seen.
Bleed is especially good on shotguns because each pellet causes its own bleed effect, and all the effects stack
Just got this channel recommended and decided to give it a watch since I saw you weren't a massive channel. Overall very entertaining you have a good pacing and cadence and I appreciate not just beelining to the endgame. I also appreciate that you included your visual modlist as it helps to show people that there is in-fact a middle ground between a barely recognizable game and pure vanilla. 8/10! I found a wounding combat shotgun really early in one of my survival runs and was set for the rest of the game. The stacking bleed on every pellet was carrying me so hard lol.

When you enter the room jump on the railing and onto the higher platform. Great thing to sell for these challenges. There’s also a expert safe in there too. And a couple synths.

I saw alot of people talking about laser and plasma scatter guns, but nobody talking about that luck perk "Bloody Mess" that raises damage and makes enemies blow. It is really useful together with shotguns since every little boost in damage is welcome and the bodies exploding utterly funny
never take the last rank of that perk though, as the chain "gibbing" can hit friendlies :(

To be honest, i have never finished fallout 4-s main questline. Recently i have played skyrim through the 3 main questlines though i never had all achievements. Maybe im going to try that soon :)

hey willow, found your videos recently and have been binge watching all of them since the moment I came across your channel. love the content, keep it up! :D Also, would love to see some DOS2 challenges as well, the dating sim vid was underrated as hell.

Just recently found your channel and love the fallout vids. I have a few suggestions for runs to try. 1. An unarmed play through. ( fists, knuckles power fist....etc) another is one I like to do though not on survival. I call them mountain man runs . Only leather armor/ clothing, chems, helmet, pre war food semi/ full auto weapons or terminal hacking . Just bolt, lever action, double barrel shotgun or revolvers and possibly a combat knife. You can only heal with a stem pack if you cripple a limb.
I realized I misspoke I meant to say no hacking unless absolutely required such as breaking the lockdown in the institute
Dang, no mention of that plasma infused double-barrel shotgun you found. That probably would've packed quite the punch against most enemies with the extra energy damage. Combat shotgun seems to do just fine, though.

Man, I once used a bottomless double barrel shotgun.
Normally, the double barrel is very slow. It's balanced to fire as quick as you pull the trigger, but you can only get two trigger pulls before reloading. But with the bottomless modifier and some jet, an advanced double barrel shreds literally everything in the game to tiny bite sized chunks.
There was only one name for such a beast. I called it the Super Shotgun.

Here's a challenge: Dogmeat ONLY run. You can't do ANYTHING, except outfit the pup and make him as badass as possible. (recommended mod: Armored Dog Armor)

I enjoy Willow, and shotguns are my favorite weapons in games. This is a win.
Great video. The double barrel does have some advantages over the combat shotgun but they are subtle.
Iirc the high end receivers do more damage. The RoF is also much faster for those first two shots. Sometimes that can make all the difference.
It has less damage on every receiver, at least that's what I saw on the wiki.
Maybe the higher damage receivers drop earlier than the corresponding combat shotgun receivers? Or maybe I just remember wrong.
But that ability to get two shots off very rapidly can be a reason to use a double barrel rather than a combat shotgun in a tight spot.

You can get up on the big road sign next to where Carla is sitting by walking up the fallen tree trunk. This can keep out of reach of any melee based enemies that are spawned in by the random encounter zone at the intersection.

I always wanted to make a mod for that part where Nick does the whistle for dogmeat where it either sounds like a foghorn or he says something like "you won't hear it because it can only be hear by dogs or stupid people"

Do the laser beam splinter and plasma spreader not count as shotguns?
If you run south straight to the Blood Clinic, you can often find a combat shotgun in the back of the van outside, also a combat rifle on the roof.
