Either way, I love the way you present everything. The cut outs of the in-game assets with the green PipBoy like boxes with the text are awesome! There's actually a royalty free text called "Overseer" you can use that looks extremely close to the official Fallout text, but all of the O's have a cross through them, so it sometimes looks a little awkward depending on what you're using the text for
@@MahDryBread yup those ones! And yeah I actually have that font downloaded. I had to remake the fallout UI style graphics myself and I decided to use the font I use on all my branding (mainly cause if I ever want to I can hue shift it to my channel color and not need to mess with font at all.) And yeah, it was really fun making all the stuff needed to edit this video and hoping to get really fast at editing. I'm already 20 hours into another challenge run and I feel like editing is gonna take forever lol.
I definetly will! I use davinci resolve, I had to basically translate all your techniques from Adobe products to my own but resolve has most of not all the same features!

Unfortunately, Fallout 4 doesn't have weapon durability. If it did, I would've suggested baseball bats being usable.

I like how you break character when discussing your build, but shift right back into character as a fish out of water when actually in gameplay. It's a nice combination

Technically, you only needed to give Nick a pipe weapon if it was a souped-up one that makes it do lots of extra damage, or something. His default weapon is an unmodded pipe pistol.
pipe revolver actually, doesn't really matter but it deals more damage than a pipe pistol

Finding the scribe is actually pretty major, you can recruit him as a level 4 armor trader at your settlements.

After you pickup Dogmeat, if you leave the Red Rocket immediately and come back a few days later you will find that all of the molerats have de-spawned, except for the ones inside the cave.

Funny enough during my survival runs the brotherhood tend to ignore nick when with me, i think bethesda just didnt feel like dealing with nick vs brotherhood so they ignore him instead
4:05 a thermonuclear blast this close wouldn't even give you third degree burns, because you'd be vaporized
i love that about fallout 4, that some plumbing can handle the pressure from a 50 cal. But no pipe shotgun. also you have a very pleasant voice

As a person who hasn't played fallout 4 in a while especially in survival difficulty i found this quite entertaining. Idk man something about these long gaming videos is really fun.
What about a baseball challenge? Baseball bats and baseball grenades as primary weapons. Rock-it launcher is ok only if you use only baseballs/baseball related items as ammo. Only clothing/armor allowed is baseball uniforms or a diamond set of city guard armor. Armor that goes over it can only be leather. If you wanted, there's a mod that let's you find the unique baseball bat "Lucille".

I've brought Strong aboard the Prydwen before and never had a problem. You get some unique dialogue from Nick if you bring him.

Not really related at all but when you said “a fancy laser rifle” in reference to Danse’s legendary one, it’s so good I upgraded it fully for damage and have been able to use it for hunting deathclaws. (Then again. I am in a full set of mark II X-01, with the helmet and chest being mark IV, that probably helped lol)

So, for a more difficult experience with like killing things in general, the hardest normal difficulty is actually better. Survival makes the player and enemies more squishy
I think overall this is harder than the hardest normal difficulty. It doesn't particularly matter if enemies are bullet sponges because the tactics I use to avoid damage will just mean fights take longer.. The player character being squishy is much more difficult to deal with imo because it requires me to play more slowly and strategically than I normally would.
@Willow that's fair, I just find survival annoying because of the save limitation personally, the addition of an exit save was nice though
@@Obviouse try smoking save mods, i have to use it in my playthru cause i keep getting crashs on the last quest, but then i couldn´t go back. It uses a smoke animation so u cant use it as a quick save
It's debatable whether Very Hard is more difficult even if you only consider the combat and even if you ignore the fact that the Survival character shows up to the fight with much less gear and probably debuffs. The only arguments I've seen assume that you are at max adrenalin but fail to appreciate what a two edged sword adrenalin is.
The size of the balls on Bethesda to make a game where you can't save.... like, you've literally never developed a functioning game.
Save mods for survival are a must, and I think being unable to select what you'd like to implement (for example hunger, thirst etc on very hard) is such a dropped ball. The fact that there are dozens of mods to fix up survival (balancing, saving, camping, etc etc) is testament to just how poorly implemented it is.
So, you can get a minute men outfit, a wrapped cap, sun glasses, and a faded visor pretty easily early on to get a total of +4 perception.
Always hope for the Kneecapper legendary modification, it is fun with a quick firing pipe gun.
I was hoping for Two Shot or Furious, I like those.

I worked in IT for a while and we dealt with security risks like this all the time, had people angry because we would force password changes every year, you would be surprised how many people can't remember a password, if you make it the username you don't forget it.

Nice video, I watch a lot of Nerbit and Muppet Squad so this type of content is perfect for me. One piece of feedback I do have is to see if you can reduce the sharp whistle when you pronounce your S’s with some audio editing. Definitely not a deal breaker but could help with the overall audio quality 👍

So, one thing I tend to do is use the waters ways of fallout 4 with the aqua boy/girl perk to make traversing the common wealth far easier than in the vanilla game even in power armor walking along the bottom of the rivers.
I start doing this in later runs, also do it without aqua boy/girl if I have a hazmat suit since the radiation is minimal.
You know the statue when you leave sanctuary?
It has a bag with a chance to have a pipe gun
I grabbed a gun out of that bag in this run.

Pipe weapons is genuinly my go to weapon for survival, simply due to the availability of it's ammunition, their ability to be modified, and how survival esque it looks. I always slap a bayonette on mine, a supressor, fully automatic, with a long scope a recoil stock and a short barrel, so i can aim for medium to long range, and hip fire for closer ranges.
Before I moved, I was in the process of doing a pipe guns only run on the difficulty before Survival. Loved watching it.
i got to respect this guy he is funny and he doing a very hard run we could never do

At my age, VATS has become an accessibility feature. It's nice to see someone embrace it in a challenge run.

VATS is part of the game, no shame in using it. I exclusively use VATS in my playthroughs.

One of my most used guns during one of my F4 runs was a .308 pipe revolver with double shot.
I like how you slowed down compared to most challange runs.
I've actually thought about making a fo4 challange run more inspired by those minecraft "100 days" challanges.
It's crazy that after all these years, you can still, with a sane mind, play this game normally. Props man, earned a sub from me because of that fact alone my guy.

I mean if you can do a no skills run just with gear from vault 111 you can do *anything* and the fun and interest of watching the challenge gets lost very fast.

challenge idea: fallout (your choice) as mad max, 3+nv sawed off and leather armor, 4 would be road leathers and leather armor and a sawed off, also can use weapons hes used in the mad max movies
There is one pipe weapon I cherish heavily. It’s medium to short range. Able to ship at the corvega plant for shorter distances than my sniper but works as a burst fire or full auto. It’s treated me well throughout the whole game, powerful automatic receiver, long ported barrel, marksman stock, glow reflex sight(don’t ask me how I’ve managed to snipe with it at longer ranges than you should be able to without vats), muzzle brake

rewatching and i noticed something i didn't the first time
you used jabo's run as one of the examples of the "did pipe weapons but not in survival"
not only was jabo's run in survival mode, but he also set a rule to not use VATS, Power Armor, or companions, as well as having a permadeath mod, which i think would make up for not playing on survival
I already mentioned how I was wrong to show jabo in the begining I was thinking of a different UA-camrs video.

Question: is your framerate uncapped? If so, that could explain the dialogue issues. Also in case you didn't know, picking up guns from defeated enemies also adds ammo, could've helped in the early game.
As for not taking Hangman's Alley in survival mode, just bored of it or what?
Couldn't be bothered to set up another settlement, was probably about the same amount of time wasted in the end since I spent a lot of time flying back to the red-rocket as I would of wasted building up that settlement.
I don't know if it's capped or not.
nick uses a pipe revolver by default anyway and dogmeat doesnt even count in the lone wanderer perk so i dont thing u broke the run

I can't remember the weapons name, or if it was just a legendary/W perk, but I'd love to see a Survival limb crippler challenge, leg and arm shots only with it.
If it's a perk then preferably on a weaker weapons though

As for the quality of the video it´s really solid. I especially like your "no glitches or exploit" rule. It´s just clean, high level gameplay with a deep understanding of the mechanics. I love stuff like that.

I pretty much beat the vast majority of the game with pipe pistols not because of a challenge but because of necessity. A normal pipe pistol to build crit, then a revolver to pop 'em.

For me survival the only way to play I love stepping on a land mine realising I haven’t saved in hours then walking back to were I died just to get killed by a car glitching this happens every time.
in the next run coming up I fell victim to getting full of myself a lot. not saving for long periods of time cause I felt strong and then the game puts me in my place.

The healing can be mostly mitigated with Medic. Strong back is a must as a bad back is a horrible disadvantage. Chemist and Medic have synergy. Aqualad makes travel faster and safer. Take every rule for beating the game on Very Hard or lower and throw them out! On survival the perks that are a 'waste' are the ones you want! Good video.
Oh 'keep radiants in the commonwealth' is a mod!
You get fusion cores in home plate at least sometimes. So paying the 2000 caps is a worth it. Also there's one under concord.
Build beds in every settlement.
Nicks default weapon is a pipe revolver pistol. You didn't have to give him one but I'd have given him a fully upgraded one as well.
Bashing with a pipe weapon is using it!
Giving Mama Murphy drugs makes the main quest easier!
Can you beat Fallout 4 without taking any weapon using mods? No Big leagues, Iron Fist, Heavy Gunner, Rifleman, gunslinger, commando or demolition expert? See the female character probably knows squat about weapons the guy is the ex-soldier. So poison, charisma, luck, dog and companions! Also arty strikes and minutemen flares.
Just saying that there is ammo left in weapons in inventories so if you pick them up and drop them you gain ammo, especially .38

I would have included the lead pipe because it's a pipe that's used as a weapon making it a pipe weapon.
The child of atom can actually be convinced to give you the bombs if you tell him you are going to use them, your point is just a plot you missed lol

Heh, the UA-cam gods blessed the, also your run is not invalidated. As MANY different UA-camrs have used the partners that are required in a quest to fight people. Especially for weapon specific runs. The logic being as long as YOU don't instigate the kill, it does not count. Companions do tend to be a no go as you choose to bring them along, though for since you have been having them use the pipe weapons (which have horrible accuracy and waste ammo) I think it is fine.

@@WillowPlaysGames Yep! No issue, so for future challenge runs, it is best not to have companions unless absolutely necessary and not to worry about the npc that are forced to be with you. (Danse when raiding ArcJet or Deacon in clearing the Switchboard) Hopefully that helps ya out!

can you beat FO4 as the spy from team fortress 2?
can only use a .44 magnum revolver and a combat knife. you also need to wear a clean blue suit and a sack hood (cheat in the 2 armor pieces and the knife at the start if you want)
side with the railroad as they're you're literally a spy in the institute
overall, its a stealth build and you should try to backstab targets when possible
Hey, when you’re on the vertibird fighting the behemoth, if you don’t shoot and let the behemoth destroy the vertibird, you rag doll out of it and survive (at least I did in power armor) I have a clip of it. But just in case you didn’t know you could do that :)
I would rather walk there xD almost died fighting the behemoth in power armor anyways.
If you use pipe guns, when you get a pipe pistol with the explosive, kneecapper’s or Staggering legendary effect, it’s a wrap for the enemy.
The dialogue skipping bug might be due to having an unlocked or high refresh rate, theres a simple mod on nexus that can fix it if you want to play with over 60fps, or you can lock it at 60 and not use the mod (but be aware that achievements might not be unlockable unless you use a mod that enables them again), i also suffered from this mid playthrough because i happened to change from my old 60hz monitor to a 144hz one and dialogues started skipping all the time and it was annoying as hell lol
I remember my first survival play through got lucky and found a two shot pipe revolver rifle that was doing like 180 damage

I feel like that only applies for FO4 with how in-the-way this Dogmeat can be. And he's not a cyborg dog, which automatically makes him less cool than Rex from NV. But FO4 Dogmeat is still a good boy. Most of the time at least... He has his annoying moments, but he's still a good doggo.

Lol i love speech checks in this game.
One time i made it past Skinny Malone using a the speech check, but my game crashed like 2 mins later.
So i reload and i do the speech check again and it just wouldnt work, i ended up cheating my charisma to like 14 until i finally passed it.
It just works.
Honestly, if the game is requiring you to use a certain weapon and/or kill some things to progress and that would mean "failing the run", I think they're fine to use. The minigun is fair game as long as it's used only for that bit. You're using the challenge run items for everything where you aren't forced, so it works.

I just realized, I think this is a Spaceballs reference. I looked it up; King Harold's password is 12345. In this case, it's the mayor's password, and it's 123456 lol Has to be a Spaceballs reference, but of course being America it would not make sense if it was a king's password nor a prince and well making it the president's password would be a bit too convenient or on the nose I think. So going with the Mayor of Boston seems reasonable.

I actually completed this challenge inadvertently when they first made survival difficulty what it currently is. Stealth build with a Nocturnal pipe bolt-action rifle gives you a lot of leeway in ammo and carry weight, few enemies will be able to survive more than 1 hit. For anything that doesn't kill, a barebones rapid pipe SMG normally does well enough, with or without a legendary effect. The pipe revolver is a decent middle ground if you only want to carry one weapon, but it will be weaker than the bolt-action, slower than the SMG, and heavier than either.
Keep to the basic stock and long light barrel and you can keep a suppressed .50 cal pipe rifle at less than 9 weight, leaving you plenty of room for food and water or more ammo. If you side with the Railroad you can add armored linings to many clothing items which can bump your defense up a few hundred points even without wearing armor, plus you can get Deacon's perk for bonus sneak attack damage. If you like using VATS, you can save Cait for an AP regen boost, and help out MacCready for a substantial boost to headshot accuracy.

Lots of youtubers are going with the pure wacky meme challenges. If you happened to merge wacky meme and hardcore challenges together, I think this would be my new favorite channel. Or hell, just give more hard challenges and I'll watch. Ideas are a bit scarce though for the base game since this game has had a lot of creators look at it. The big meme challengers have been avoiding mods though for a 'pure challenge' feel. If you look for some mods that up the difficulty, like Frostfall, or even just added mods for more weird challenges like repaired faction dialogue for the different games or new player quests, etc.
If it sounds a bit rambly, it's because it is, but also because there are just a lot of ways you can do challenge videos. Just a bit of advice, if you go down this rabbit hole it's probably what this particular channel will basically be locked into and may not give non-bethesda/challenge games the same priority in the feeds. So just be a bit mindful if THIS is the channel you want those challenges on.

ok challenge idea, survival difficulty but you cant have any armour, no power armour or anything just clothes
Would probably be kinda easy you just rush to ballistic weave
i also have that bug where a lot of npcs cut themselves off in 1 of my saves or they have long pauses inbetween sentences, for some reason it does work in all my other saves
