    Really good video and thanks for giving your spec (height, weight, size of boards, boots, stance width, angle). It's really important for people like us who cant go a lot of weeks a year in mountain to save times to test setup and having the réf of a good snowboarder like you. Fortunately I have the same height and weight of you 😀.

    A good rule of thumb to find your approximate stance width is to measure from the centre of your knee to your ankle and use that measurement. Then experiment!!!
    Be careful not to go too wide or too duck footed as it can put strain on your knees and hips.
    I have to say though, I couldn't ride duck until Burton introduced autocant on their foot beds. It is brilliant! No more sore knees!
    All the best, Rich in Sweden.

      @Guinea Suarus yeah I do. But the older bindings combined with my old stance being too wide equals bad posture. Can't do much about that.

    • @Daz555Daz
      @Daz555Daz 6 місяців тому

      Centre of knee to the floor is what I have been using for many years. If I used centre of knee to ankle that would be less than the minimum stance on my last 3 or 4 boards.

    I just tried to align the highbacks of my burton bindings to the heelside of my board, but when I came to tighten the screws, it looked almost like I had to force the highbacks in the new position like they wanted to come back to the standard position. Did I do it wrong or is that normal?

    • @SnowboardAddiction

      Awesome, what a setup! With 8.5 you should be fine to stay centered. The best way to be sure is put your boots in the bindings and tilt the board up onto its edge and see what angle you get to before the toe of the boot comes into contact with the ground :)

    I'm riding an Custom Camber 169W from 2016 with a Mala Vita EST and Salomon HiFi boots size 290mm. For me a great setup. Now I'm searching a plate (10 ... 20mm) to use under the binding to reduce toe and heeldrag and to get more pressure on the edges while carving hard. Is it possible to buy such a plate for EST-Bindings or must I build a self made plate? Buying new board, boot, binding is not an option for me!
    Thanks a lot.

    Hey, quick question, how do you get the ankle strap to bend backwards like that?

    • @kylethompson3218
      @kylethompson3218 2 роки тому

      I believe Nev is using the Burton Malavita Bindings. The straps taper down really thin to flex like that and could break in Canadian temperatures😏 If the ankle strap is bothersome for stepping. Try pulling it back and laying along the board pinning the ratchet by the toe of the binding. Hope this helps🤙

  • @Daz555Daz

    I think you should centre your boot across the board regardless of how large or small it is.

    • @SnowboardAddiction
      @SnowboardAddiction  6 місяців тому +1

      Yeah totally, You should have an equal amount of space/over hang (depending on small or large boots) on your toe and heel edge of your boot :)

    I'm 6'1" and 300lbs with size 14 shoes. I have destroyed my knees from booting out many times over the years, thus the weight issues. I can't really run or do high impact stuff. I bought some used skis and I plan to switch it up this season. Nobody makes a board wide enough and nobody makes risers anymore. I'm screwed... Unless you can think of a board for a large man?

      You can try a stiff, short/fat board. The Telos Back/Slash in 158 will hold 300 lbs., and should barely fit a size 14 boot.
      Another option is a Lib Tech Skunk Ape. They make a 173 ultra wide.
      If your knees are already shot, I'm worried about skiing, but that's your choice.

    • @salamdamai
      @salamdamai 2 роки тому

      Or go with Ride Superpig, Ride Warpig or Ride Twinpig. These boards are super wide with waist width 27+ cm wide. But they are considered medium flex, not sure if that will support 300lbs body weight. But the width should be able to handle it. But the Donek Knapton Twin cant go wrong. It is a stiff board and you can customize the waist width to be 30+ cm wide.
