I just recently saw Peter Gabriel in Manchester and was blown away with his performance. Pure magic from start to finish. His voice was still strong. Will never forget. Love you Peter ❤❤

@@chercharliescrafts736 Please keep in mind that I saw Gabriel in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Things could be much different, and perhaps not as good, in 2023!!
It's so hard to fathom that this was the dude that came up with suppers ready, watcher of the skies and all their prog art rock stuff..definitely came a long way as a musician yet so unappreciated.
MrFluidity1 That’s true, So to Us was his more popular period. I actually had a friend long ago who didn’t like the Sledgehammer video because the stop and go animation made him “nervous”. Still not sure what psychosis that represents lol.
Always adored this song. I've always thought of Steam as being sort of a sister song to Sledgehammer. When Peter Gabriel goes into his eclectic upbeat funky soulful zone he always slays. Btw.....does anyone here listen to the NPR show "On Point"? It airs from 10am to noon every weekday. Well, I've listened to that show for ages....and only recently did it hit me...the intro music for On Point is literally the intro of Steam. How on earth did I not notice that before?? :P
How does he have SUCH a powerful voice? On record or live he just has this incredible ability to *_project_* unlike any other vocalist. So inspiring as a songwriter/musician myself to witness this level of talent.
I saw this concert accidently when I was a thirteen years old girl, and I was in love with this magic music! Now I'm 27 and I still think it's amasing! Thank you, Peter!
Anechka 999 That must be a story to tell! How did you accidentally see it, thought it was something else? Whatever the case, I’m sure it was a pleasant surprise! I’m only just now really truly discovering his music but as a kid I actually could have gone to see him! I would have been 6 or 7 but still!
1993..... pff I I cant remember nothing I did that year(I'm 52), all most nothing cuz I do remember I loved this guy and his beautiful voice and style..💖
+Cate Stone one month from now I'll see him. I had the opp to meet him over a year ago and introduced myself. I'm a photographer. I had some pics taken, but not he way I would like it to be.
Definitely my favorite concert ever. The music sounded amazing. I'm sure that it was all live and none of it recorded. So hard to replicate that music live but it was flawless. Paula Cole was awesome. And I can only imagine how much work went into all the choreography. And they all look like they're having a ball. Wish I could have been there! That is how it is done!!
People really DO need to stand back when he comes near. Check out his frigging package. You can't miss it. I swear it poked me in the eye through the computer.
This Video doesn't include the spooky intro and very much the video background on the rotating screen behind the band. Great simple props all the way through the concert. Great concert video. Peter is never disappointing live.
Awesome performance by a legend, an actor and a perfect singer, thanks Peter you're a torch in the darkness man.... Nice to see Tony playing Bass ;) another of my favorites
Saw him at Buckeye Lake, OH 1993. Incredible show. So grateful. Sinead was still on tour. Paula Cole woulda been cool to see too. Magical night at an awesome venue, great memories
Gabriel along with David Rhodes on guitar and Tony Levin on base have played together for 40+ years. It shows! Levin with the stick hammers is classic! Paula Cole singing on this live set doesn't hurt either. :)
I saw this entire show across the Bay in Oakland, California. Paula was not the guest vocalist those two nights. Instead, it was Sinead O'Connor. This was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Before that, it was the show for the "So" album at the Greek Theater, outside in Berkeley. Before that, it was the most incredible show I ever saw at Roseland Auditorium in New York City for the "Security" tour in the middle of Winter 1984. The entire band came right through the crowd from the back of the auditorium playing marching drums and got all the way up to the stage for a 2 and a half-hour performance. Peter turned his back and fell into the crowd and they carried him safely back to the stage during "Lay Your Hands On Me!" I was only 23 back then and it moved me to tears.
He's wonderful, the band is on fire, and Paula Cole looks awesome here (she is worth looking into if you don't know her; had a hit with _Where Have All the Cowboys Gone_ but she also did standards like _Autumn Leaves_ ... talented lady!) I miss the 90s but I can enjoy the tunes and the musicians today.
Man, such an awesome song. I think the drum patterns are a little strange, but the singers are singing some really tight harmonies, and the song is generally being done really well, I love this song.
It sounds like they doubled his vocals in post-production, mixing his live vocals with the album vocals, for this VHS recording. You can really tell on the falsetto parts.
Peter and Paulas voices were so strong. Wish I would've seen this tour in person.
It was awesome. So surprised to see Paula at the time. But I came away with a mad crush on her.
I've just discovered Peter Gabriel and his music.....I have been infected....and I LIKE IT!
Welcome aboard
I went to this tour when it opened at Sheffield arena it was such an amazing night
Sooooooo much to catch up with. Including his years with Genesis. Enjoy!
I want you to listen to The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway and let me know what you think.
He's a funky dude. No doubt. :)

Heard this song today for the first time in Sam's Club over their PA system and the mood of the whole store changed for the better.
Check out the entire Secret World concert. This is a man who understands symbolism.
Peter has some sick dad moves in this! 😎
PETER GABRIEL AND PAULA COLE.......I LOVE IT !!!!!
Tony Levin is the kind of bass player who lays down a deep, beautiful foundation for other musicians to build upon.
MerkinMuffly totally agree....he's just so smooth
Indeed! that is what makes him one of THE greatest!! his whole persona just oozes class and creativity!
He is a monster of the Bass.
Stingray tone seems killer in your hands and sticks
Ain't that through..work backline with several bands..the bass and drums are the foundation which they all build on...
That there is some quintessential Peter Gabriel.
2:40 His smirk at the steam giving him mad static hair really tickled me.
lol

Did you know he was also in Paul Simon's One Trick Pony, also in the movie of the same name.
Funk Fingers ripping that bass!

What a voice.
Unique, epic, wonderful
I forgot how great this song is. With that said, he’s got 2 big hits. How he sold this many tickets, I don’t understand
God I love Gabriel. This is what music should be.
The bassline is soo slick
The bass is honestly bitchingly tight on this cut
Tony Levin ...
Still amazes me that people don't know who Tony Levin is, other bass players know what the little girls don't understand.
Tony Levin featuring Funk Fingers.
In a sleepy fishing village in Canoa Ecuador, Peter Gabriel sledge hammer was the answer to a question, came home and put it on, great memories.

Steve Hackett, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins had just as much to do with the progressive Genesis sound as Peter Gabriel.
