My husband and I used this song for our wedding. He passed away 9/29. We were married 27 years. This popped up on my feed today. I feel it is his way of saying hi. Hello Danimal.
1993. I was 25 years old. 4 friends, musicians and music lovers. We leave for the ASSAGO FORUM (MILAN). Let's go in, crazy stage for the time. Lights, phone booth, Come Talk To Me start. Everything is perfect. A live performance that "sounds" like a record heard on an esoteric system... At this point we enter in a party. A celebration of music. 30 years have passed, it still remains the most beautiful concert seen live in my entire life (over 250 concerts of all kinds seen...) After 30 years hearing Paula Cole's crazy voice again and remembering her from under the stage, with her dress, Doc Martens boots and an enthusiastic face... An emotion that will accompany me forever. Thank you Peter. An evening engraved in the soul.
Yup!!! Been going to concerts since 1970 and saw them all except the Beatles. Loved all the lighters at Zeppelin and Floyd in the 70s, not a fucking phone!!!
PS: I put this song as a masterpiece like Bohemian Rhapsody, Kashmir and Fools Overture! Watch Fools on UA-cam with the Orchestra. Supertramp is in my top 10 shows with Peter, Zeppelin and Floyd!!!
You encapsilated it so well. Brother, we have to do our small part to especially help these kids I remind myself to focus today on serving the good ways of God. 🎉
Such a great and classic song. Beautiful voice on the back ground singers. But the ‘dance’ moves are so distracting and cringe worthy. Ruins the beautiful music. Jean Claude and his shorts though. 👍
This was my husbands favorite song! We were married 53 years and he passed away in July. Today I had a tat put my arm " In Your Eyes". It will be a beautiful memory I can hold on to! Thank you for the beautiful song!
When this song first came out I thought it was the perfect description of what fascinated me about my wife. She passed away 2 weeks ago after 42 years of marriage. This is the most fantastic performance.
30 million views and 11 thousand comments gives me the feeling that I'm far from the only one who finds this song absolutely magical. Seriously, if might even be my all time favorite. So hauntingly beautiful in every way. So raw and heartfelt. How can anyone not be mesmerized by it?
my husband of 12 years passed away three weeks ago. This beat of this song pulls me into his memories...never take a day for granted, you never know what the next bend in the road brings you to. I miss you so much, Robbie. In your eyes, I was a Princess and you said that often enough. IN your eyes, I was complete.
I’m so sorry Diane I feel like we all take for granted what we have every day. I do to the same. I don’t know who you are but I hope you are okay. I’m struggling too

Diane...so sad to read this. I've had the great luck to see Peter and his band (without Papa Wemba) at the Cologne Concert I grew up with his music and accompanied so many years. I was alone there, listening and dancing, often with tears in my eyes, thinking about friends that passed away in all these years before....stay safe and strong!
It would take a poet a thousand years to fully describe such an amazing performance. This one song could be the soundtrack of everyone's life. The African influence is especially refreshing as well, it's amazing how one song can capture the essence of beauty, love, gratitude, pride, family in a manner of minutes. Kudos Mr. Gabriel for letting each and every member on that stage shine.
My boyfriend just sent me this before he went to bed. Mesmerizing and I know he loves me, but wow, what a spectacular version. One of the reasons I love and adore him with all my heart and soul.
Had the opportunity to work on this tour with Peter Gabriel as a sound engineer. What an experience , still one of the best gigs I ever did....retired now but still enjoy this concert with fond memories...
Just a tad jelly over here in Montana, Chris. Having done sound checks and schlepped equipment with my brother's band back in the 70s, I too have fond memories of especially good shows. Not on your scale of course but still an experience.
The year 2024 started nice. I called an old friend who also admires Peter‘s music. We spoke about the new album I/O that was the music highlight in two decades for me. He recommended to see this show of 1993 that moved me to tears. Thank you, Peter for this great experience and music that accompanies my life…
I also saw that show and was lucky enough to catch the new show in Philadelphia recently cuz I don't know if he'll tour again I doubt it he was awesome!
I am complete and here in 2024 in the present, I am 58 years old and in poor health. In 1990 i am more vibrant and resilient. Thank you for your music. Peter Gabriel wrote a human anthem with this song. It’s simply perturbing how this masterpiece enters your soul and moves every inch of your existence.
I got here from the anxiety Dr. On UA-cam. He suggested picturing your younger self/inner child and connect with that version of you and forgiving yourself while listening to this. ..It will do a number on you if you're ready for it. ♥
I’m watching this in my isolation room, suffering from Coronavirus. The effect of music is so uplifting. Knowing that others are moved by the same music though separated by thousands of miles and many years makes me know we are all together and we will come through this. In years to come we will be telling of this time, and what we learned. Best of luck to everyone. 18th September 2021 Thank you all for your kind words and best wishes. I read all of your messages and you are assured that they lifted me as they surely lifted others. None of us are islands. We need each other. I needed support during those difficult weeks and you gave me that support. We will need more of that in the days, weeks and months to come. I am lucky that i will be able to talk of the dark times and what i have learned about the goodness in us all. Love to all. Understanding for all. Thank you.
All good points. I do believe this is a "Timeless Classic Song" I wanted to share an amazing #BBQ recipe with you and your friends : ua-cam.com/video/4E7nvKxBCDo/v-deo.html
Today I had my 4th round of chemo.and feel like poop! I’m definitely getting better and know that so many more people have things a lot worse than me. So I’m good. This is always my feel good song so I play it after every chemo session when I get home. When I have the energy I try to (badly) dance to it as well. So glad people can’t see. One of his best songs ever.
This is the greatest, most uplifting live music peformance I've ever seen in my life...I literally watch this video almost every day. I'd also say that Manu Katché doesnt get NEARLY enough credit for his mind-boggling drumming throughout this song. His complex yet super-catchy polyrythms are the backbone to this performance, and I'd argue one of the key peices to what makes this performance so magical. JUST BRILLIANT, all around.
Yup Manu and Tony really hold the whole thing together, so well that most don't even notice how the current for the vast majority of the song relies on their drums and bass.
Even I didn't realize how bad I needed to hear this... As the temp grew... when she began to raise her voice... she took me into the place forgot I belonged.. then they walked me across the bridge into paradise! You are home now... where you belong. Thank you
It is a very rare thing when an artist does a song so well and the engineering of the studio production is so great that it turns out perfect. Peter Gabriel did it twice on one album. Red Rain and In Your Eyes were those two perfect songs. It is even a more rare occurrence to hit one of those perfect songs out of the park in a live performance, yet Peter did it with both of them in this concert. Well done Mr. Gabriel. Well done indeed.
Whomever did the post production on this one deserves a feet/back rub. Ain't no live piece this good without a whole lot of post. I like the end product alot.
This song is one of the most beautiful songs ever written if not the best….Your fellow musicians were meant to be with you in this amazing song everyone on stage with are as one…..Your thoughts come from the heavens and your gift comes from the One…….
his record “So” has sooo many incredible songs. Red Rain and In Your Eyes are definitely favorites of mine. But don’t forget Sledgehammer, Don’t Give Up, Mercy Street or Big Time. 🙌
She was a last-minute substitute for Sinead O Connor who pulled out of the show. Paula literally had only a few days to learn the songs. I remember her interview where she said one day she was singing in small venues and the next day being flown to Paris to prepare for the tour.
An audience without any form of social media and mobile phones completely in sync with the performance...........the way it should be. Timeless piece of music ❤.........one of the best concerts ever
I bought a dvd of this recently, needing a nostalgia trip during a miserable lockdown. I am too young(at 53!)to remember Peter Gabriel in Genesis, but became a huge fan in the 80's and 90's. He has continued to evolve and change with the times brilliantly. He has worked with some wonderful and diverse talented people...totally without ego. I think this song has to be one of my favourites, as it evokes some personal memories every time I hear it. Wonderful performance!
I wasn't at this specific performance, but I did see this tour in DC. Was just as amazing! Still one of the top 5 concerts I've ever attended, and I've been to hundreds.
This song takes me back to my freshman year of college in 1986...I was anxious about starting college because I'd been bullied in high school, but one of my college classmates (gifted with a discerning mind, a gentle soul, and the most beautiful eyes) reassured me, "Don't you realize this is a whole new beginning for you?" He gently kissed me while "In Your Eyes" was playing and that moment shall stay with me until the day I die.
I happened upon this clip on tube last night. It was a magical reminder of me and my then 12 YO daughter screaming down on a highway listening to this repeatedly. Every time the the song went to the lyrics "in Your Eyes' her little hands clenched mine mine and me raised as if if we were 'jumping - as in the video. That was 30 ish years ago. Made me cry. Effing brilliant video.
This song give me shivers, no matter how many times I listen to it. I've been in and out of Ukraine delivering medical supplies and it's f'ing depressing. This song reminds me of all the good in the world and that we need to keep going, helping others and Mother Earth as much as possible. Thanks Peter.
Thank you for the work you do. I was doing Ukraine relief on the other side of the pond. Very rewarding. By the way Peter Gabriel will be in Krakow in May I think.
Listening through headphones - I have tears in my eyes - can't really explain why - the inclusion of the complete audience with such talent is uplifting and so incredibly moving. What a privilege it must have been to have attended such an incredible concert.
My favorite Peter Gabriel song. Didn't believe i could ever hear or see a better performance of it until I saw this. Tears of joy, I want this played at my funeral! Paula Cole gave me chills, she was so wonderful. Tony Levin on bass is incomparable. I can't get enough of this! I may not sleep tonight thinking about this.
we love this song too. thanks for telling us the singers etc...this song means everything to me.the world is on fire!!!!!!Peace be with you brother peace for all of us. thank you for such a wonderful song peter and friends.
In 1985 I came to Houston Tx to study for Nursing school with my college sweetheart who was a physics major and professional student in Optometry school at the University of Houston. We married in 1987. This brings me back to the good memories of of his influence in my life and how he motivated me to study hard to reach my goals. We were best friends. Unfortunately, the marriage ended abruptly in 1988 during my finals week before my December 1988 graduation from Nursing school. He stayed behind in Houston and had to finish his last semester of his 4th year. It was over before it started. We went separate ways. I pray for his health and well being. Thank you for sharing part of your life journey with me.
Artist and composer both. His skill and understanding of the musical impact is one thing that makes him so special. He knows a team can create what an individual cannot. He is a true leader.
I wish to see more concerts where the musicians look like they're just having fun on a round stage, dancing like nobody is watching. This is such a joy to see.
Mon Mon Now the concerts are more Rituals then communication of the lyrics and melody...I’m so tired of Moloch and symbols. This is a breath of fresh air....
I was at this show. Magnificent memories that still touch my soul... One week later, at a black tie fundraiser event, I luckily had the pleasure of meeting Peter Gabriel. One of the best songs ever performed live.. PERIOD!
I am impressed they still manage to make it sound like this in a live show, the beautiful voice harmonies, the crazy bass sound, the insane drums… and the keyboard… everything is so perfect!!!
Every now and then an artist will perform and it is called perfection. This is an example of perfection at the highest level. Thank you so much for your music!
Peter Gabriel is one of the most soulful songwriters there is. His music has always touched me deeply. When I feel defeated, or lonely, or overwhelmed, Peter reminds me that I am not alone, and that I have hope. 10:04
Saddened by recent world events, I listen to this and hope that one day, one day soon, we will realize what's truly important. One day the color of your skin will be as inconsequential as the color or your eyes. We will live as one. At peace and kind to one another......because together, we can make beautiful, timeless, inspirational music much like Peter, Manu, Paula, Tony, Papa and Crew have done here....and make this world a better place.
Colour isn’t an issue these days, it’s way worse than that. There’s forces behind the curtain out to scare us all into subservience. SARS, Ebola, global warming, climate change, Covid-19, Soros riots, it’s one thing after another to wear us down. Resist.
That's exactly what I was gonna say. I absolutely love it. Wish I could have been on that stage jumping with 'em. The unity of this performance gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. Just makes me smile.
How can one hear this song and just not absolutely adore Peter Gabriel? How can you hear “in your eyes I see the doorway to a thousand churches” and not just want to fall in love? This song is so powerful, so deep and so gut wrenching it’s impossible not to get emotional ❤
I was at this concert back in the day in Phoenix, AZ. Never found it online until this morning... It was a total total amazing experience. Really the only true concert I have ever been to in 51 years of my life...makes me bawl so hard. this song, this Artist and many many others bring me to tears....happy tears... Ciao... have a call to make...becoming me true self again reinventing my former name after 18 years of my so called life...
wow, amazing story.i can relate.i play this song everyday.im 57 and had to reinvent myself also.i can relate to your pain and happiness.there is a reason this song is 10 minutes long.paula amazed me on this one.god bless you and your future
I was at this concert in Philadelphia in 1993. Greatest concert ever! I’m also 51. So much time has passed but this is still the greatest song ever written!
I too was at this concert in Phoenix. I had been to many concerts up to this point in my life including Pink Floyd Animals in 1977 (16 years old and my first concert). This show was the best I have ever seen. Fan for life 🎤
It's amazing, the studio version has a kind of solemnity and delicacy to it, a man almost balefully singing about his love and what he sees in her eyes. This performance is just joyful though, it brings a completely different mood to the same song. Magnificent. Goosebumps. Love to all from Australia.
I have only witnessed Mr Gabriel 3x in live performance, first 2 were his younger self with wild costumes, then the last time ( so far) with Sting in Seattle some of the magic was lost, til he sang this, and David Bowies 'heroes'. Despite the strange lighting 3D imaging, it was a delight of the heart and spirit. Sadly due Canadas' treatment of Seals Peter will not perform in Canada, which I respect as a fellow musician myself!
The one constant is everyone dancing and singing with joy in their hearts. If you don’t like, go away. If you do, enjoy. Thank God for Peter Gabriel and what he has done for world unity.
Please never take this video down! It’s been in my favorites playlist for years and it’s one of my favorite performances ever! I return to it periodically and it always fills me with joy and happiness! 🙏🏼✨
I believe that this is the song that will be playing when I pass through the pearly gates and into completeness, in Your eyes. Thank you, Peter Gabriel for this joyous creation.
Manu Katche, the drummer, is pure genius with so many delicate variations fed by his brilliant syncopations in this timeless song. Observe how he explodes from 2:55
Hi Aimee - hope u r feeling better! I have dealt with chronic major depression since being in combat in Vietnam. Even with meds & therapy… it’s no fun. Upbeat music like this helps ! 🤗
This performance is just epic beyond description. I've probably watched it 50 times and on each occasion I find something new - body language, facial expression, a nuance of sound...Gabriel must be SO inspirational to work with and the way he gives everyone their 15 minutes of fame while still controlling the bigger picture is just incredible. I usually tee the song up to merely listen to in the background while I roll slowly into my workday but every time I end up watching the video from start to finish.
@@christophspielmann316 But what right of yours to do it? That was petty to say the least. Didn't mommy tell you about what to do if you have nothing good to say? 🙄
Peter Gabriel was the ultimate entertainer. From his costumes and characters in his young Genesis days (my favorite time) to his synchronized playing and singing by him and his band. This video is one of my all time favorites.
I feel really grateful I was at this concert in Gainesville. I sure miss you Tom. You live on through all the musical gifts you shared with us all. A legacy we were all privledged to be a part of.
I'm crying right now...how absolutely flawless was it, they will never get it the same again we can just appreciate the art and genius of Mr Gabriel and Co.
This is simply an astonishing performance. Talent overflowing on stage, sound and lighting, delivering one of the most emotionally involving and iconic songs, ever.
I always loved this song but this performance is astounding! This is a ceremony of love, joy, and freedom. The choice to dance your own dance while enjoying others! The option to change your dance and still have the same love and spirit of the song IN YOUR EYE"S. We all have a choice to dance how we like to the same song with others Anyone who attended this joyous occasion was blessed!!!! Hats off to all artists and everyone involved with this video being preserved in the hallows of the TUBE !!
Our beautiful Cat passed on 19 Sept. Today has been challenging for me... A lot of sorrow and regret for the last time I was with her and I didn't speak only good to her...This song has been played a few times to calm the anger and sorrow
A true anthem is modern music. The note that Paula Cole hits at 1:15 and carries for those 10 seconds only to go higher for 5 seconds more proves that angels can sing! My all time favorite song!
One of the best concerts I ever attended. Saw them in Phoenix AZ. Peter got down on one knee and sang up to me standing in the 10th row. It was breathtaking! Julie-Ann
Just realized with my eyes the lies as I listen to peter gabriel in your eyes....the beginning of the song it's the FIRMAMENT lifting off the earth...amazing
The positive energy released by these artists: {Peter Gabriel, Papa Wemba (Congo), and Paula Cole], on this day,1993, at this location, is so powerful that it is still active in 2020 ...
Such a joyous celebration here. Everytime i watch I get chills. It never fails and I love Paula's vocal so much. It feels so good and right to see her belt out her notes...And then theres Tony holding down the bottom and looking so cool doing his thing. Peter surrounded himself with amazing talent.
“In your eyes, I see the doorway to a thousand churches” ❤ gets me every time. This song is absolutely soul wrenching beautiful ❤
Sure is.. beautiful Pain. X

I just danced this song through my heart and felt it. I can’t stop crying. This is the celebration of life my cats funeral needed.
Sorry baby, your Kitty is watching you in cat heaven!

Thank you all for your kind words and best wishes.
Thank you.

Moments of mortality heighten our senses of appreciation. You will get through it and can help others.
Love you man!!!
I never appreciated Paula until I saw her with Peter in concert . Wow!
Played hundreds of times and never get tired of it. Every musician in sync, enjoying themselves and we enjoying singing along. One of kind.
All good points. I do believe this is a "Timeless Classic Song"

Definitely incredible work
Makes ya wonder where he finds all his talent
A singular mind-blowing moment from secret world live...absolutely brilliant 10 mins of heaven. Gabriel rules.
Keep dancin!, hope things are much better for you

This is the greatest, most uplifting live music peformance I've ever seen in my life...I literally watch this video almost every day. I'd also say that Manu Katché doesnt get NEARLY enough credit for his mind-boggling drumming throughout this song. His complex yet super-catchy polyrythms are the backbone to this performance, and I'd argue one of the key peices to what makes this performance so magical. JUST BRILLIANT, all around.
Manu Katche has some really good jazz albums.
Could not have expressed my admiration for this performance any better
Musicians understand how important he is to the song structure
I wish I could have been there. Can you imagine...
Peter Gabriel is an Earth Angel, that’s why ❤
Perfectly said...incredible rendition
Paula Cole -- one of the most underrated singers and songwriters of our time.
YES!!!
Oh, is that her singing backup? What a set of pipes.
She was a last-minute substitute for Sinead O Connor who pulled out of the show. Paula literally had only a few days to learn the songs. I remember her interview where she said one day she was singing in small venues and the next day being flown to Paris to prepare for the tour.

Paula was a much better choice.

What a masterpiece, singer and songwriter, this level of talent is out of this world.
Well said!
Paula's voice never ceases to amaze me
Arguably the best voice ever! What a great addition she was! Beat the socks off of Sinead O’Connor!
One cannot help but to fall in love with her. As one falls in love with Peter Gabriel and this song!

Pater Gabriel way ahead of his time. One of the all-time BEST performances ever!!!!
This performance is magical. You can feel the love and joy all over that arena. I wish i was there.
Yes and Amen
I bought a dvd of this recently, needing a nostalgia trip during a miserable lockdown. I am too young(at 53!)to remember Peter Gabriel in Genesis, but became a huge fan in the 80's and 90's. He has continued to evolve and change with the times brilliantly. He has worked with some wonderful and diverse talented people...totally without ego. I think this song has to be one of my favourites, as it evokes some personal memories every time I hear it.
Wonderful performance!
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY !! :)
I wasn't at this specific performance, but I did see this tour in DC. Was just as amazing! Still one of the top 5 concerts I've ever attended, and I've been to hundreds.
I would have paid a thousand bucks to have been there; as you say 'magical'.
I am! I’m 73 and dancing along with this incredible performance! Paula Cole is divine!
72 in November - absolutely
71 in Dec. God bless you.
Hello 👋🏼 Diane Riley
This song takes me back to my freshman year of college in 1986...I was anxious about starting college because I'd been bullied in high school, but one of my college classmates (gifted with a discerning mind, a gentle soul, and the most beautiful eyes) reassured me, "Don't you realize this is a whole new beginning for you?" He gently kissed me while "In Your Eyes" was playing and that moment shall stay with me until the day I die.
Seu amigo é sábio.
I miss you, Emily.
Soo wonderful to see and hear Paula Cole. This was a beautiful concert. When the world still made sense.
When men were men and women were women.
This song give me shivers, no matter how many times I listen to it. I've been in and out of Ukraine delivering medical supplies and it's f'ing depressing. This song reminds me of all the good in the world and that we need to keep going, helping others and Mother Earth as much as possible. Thanks Peter.
thank you for the work your doing
Thank you for the work you do. I was doing Ukraine relief on the other side of the pond. Very rewarding. By the way Peter Gabriel will be in Krakow in May I think.
@@randallsteger1919 Krakow?! Really? Do you know when?
God bless you for what you're doing in Ukraine. Prayers and good wishes from Canada.
God bless you and all the people of Ukraine. May the people of Russia open their eyes and pressure their "leader" to stop his horrendous war.
Listening through headphones - I have tears in my eyes - can't really explain why - the inclusion of the complete audience with such talent is uplifting and so incredibly moving. What a privilege it must have been to have attended such an incredible concert.
'Cause you're a sensitive person..
I totally agree with you. It touches your soul
I just had a similar reaction and thought, "Why am I crying?" Glad it wasn't just me!
.e too i understand
It’s because you’re a decent human being who values others and life itself. Respect to you! I know how you feel. I’m tearing up typing this.
First time seeing this!WTH???? I am completely complete. I can die now., This is a huge step up from the studio song. What a masterpiece!

I am always impressed with how generous Peter Gabriel is with the other musicians on the stage.
For him, it is all about the music.
Artist and composer both. His skill and understanding of the musical impact is one thing that makes him so special. He knows a team can create what an individual cannot. He is a true leader.
He always is though.

My god, all these years later and the tears are still streaming down my face as I watch this beautiful spectacle again. Just pure loveliness 😌🙏

might explain why it's been viewed 30 million times and doesn't have 30 million likes
Superb comment
I would love to help make that happen :^)
Well said my brother of the universe!
Colour isn’t an issue these days, it’s way worse than that.
There’s forces behind the curtain out to scare us all into subservience.
SARS, Ebola, global warming, climate change, Covid-19, Soros riots, it’s one thing after another to wear us down. Resist.
to many people the colour of your skin is inconsequential , theres a small minority that think the opposite :-) and they dont count and never should
I love how simple "jumping" shared with others on stage makes such a joyous performance.
Incomparable 🎼is this your favorite song?
Agree the jumping us so simple and celebratory with all of these wonderful talents!!!
That's exactly what I was gonna say. I absolutely love it. Wish I could have been on that stage jumping with 'em. The unity of this performance gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. Just makes me smile.
Your observation encapsulated perfectly what I could not put my finger on….not a huge fan, but I found this performance rather uplifting?

How can one hear this song and just not absolutely adore Peter Gabriel? How can you hear “in your eyes I see the doorway to a thousand churches” and not just want to fall in love? This song is so powerful, so deep and so gut wrenching it’s impossible not to get emotional ❤
I was at this concert back in the day in Phoenix, AZ. Never found it online until this morning... It was a total total amazing experience. Really the only true concert I have ever been to in 51 years of my life...makes me bawl so hard. this song, this Artist and many many others bring me to tears....happy tears... I too was at this concert in Phoenix. I had been to many concerts up to this point in my life including Pink Floyd Animals in 1977 (16 years old and my first concert). This show was the best I have ever seen. Fan for life 🎤
yes baby this is powerful medicine...bawl away its meant to heal...god be with us all...
I watch this video every few months to remind myself what pure beauty is.

AMOR, Peter Gabriel
I will now!
It's amazing, the studio version has a kind of solemnity and delicacy to it, a man almost balefully singing about his love and what he sees in her eyes. This performance is just joyful though, it brings a completely different mood to the same song.
Magnificent. Goosebumps.
Love to all from Australia.
I love this version. I never cared too much for the studio version, but can't get enough of this. Incredibly joyful!
