My husband and I used this song for our wedding. He passed away 9/29. We were married 27 years. This popped up on my feed today. I feel it is his way of saying hi. Hello Danimal.
Yup!!! Been going to concerts since 1970 and saw them all except the Beatles. Loved all the lighters at Zeppelin and Floyd in the 70s, not a fucking phone!!!
You encapsilated it so well. Brother, we have to do our small part to especially help these kids I remind myself to focus today on serving the good ways of God. 🎉
Such a great and classic song. Beautiful voice on the back ground singers. But the ‘dance’ moves are so distracting and cringe worthy. Ruins the beautiful music. Jean Claude and his shorts though. 👍
She was a last-minute substitute for Sinead O Connor who pulled out of the show. Paula literally had only a few days to learn the songs. I remember her interview where she said one day she was singing in small venues and the next day being flown to Paris to prepare for the tour.

1993. I was 25 years old. 4 friends, musicians and music lovers. We leave for the ASSAGO FORUM (MILAN). Let's go in, crazy stage for the time. Lights, phone booth, Come Talk To Me start. Everything is perfect. A live performance that "sounds" like a record heard on an esoteric system... At this point we enter in a party. A celebration of music. 30 years have passed, it still remains the most beautiful concert seen live in my entire life (over 250 concerts of all kinds seen...) After 30 years hearing Paula Cole's crazy voice again and remembering her from under the stage, with her dress, Doc Martens boots and an enthusiastic face... An emotion that will accompany me forever. Thank you Peter. An evening engraved in the soul.
Peter Gabriel, like Paul Simon, is one of the precursor of world music with his world-class musicians like Africans, Manu Katché (drums), Tony Levin (bass) David Rhodes (guitars) and Jean Claude (electric piano) and the fantastic American vocal Paula Cole. Peter Gabriel is still my favourite artist. He is an extraordinary songwriter, singer and showman.
my husband of 12 years passed away three weeks ago. This beat of this song pulls me into his memories...never take a day for granted, you never know what the next bend in the road brings you to. I miss you so much, Robbie. In your eyes, I was a Princess and you said that often enough. IN your eyes, I was complete.

30 million views and 11 thousand comments gives me the feeling that I'm far from the only one who finds this song absolutely magical. Seriously, if might even be my all time favorite. So hauntingly beautiful in every way. So raw and heartfelt. How can anyone not be mesmerized by it?
Today I had my 4th round of chemo.and feel like poop! I’m definitely getting better and know that so many more people have things a lot worse than me. So I’m good. This is always my feel good song so I play it after every chemo session when I get home. When I have the energy I try to (badly) dance to it as well. So glad people can’t see. One of his best songs ever.
It would take a poet a thousand years to fully describe such an amazing performance. This one song could be the soundtrack of everyone's life. The African influence is especially refreshing as well, it's amazing how one song can capture the essence of beauty, love, gratitude, pride, family in a manner of minutes. Kudos Mr. Gabriel for letting each and every member on that stage shine.
I’m watching this in my isolation room, suffering from Coronavirus. The effect of music is so uplifting. Knowing that others are moved by the same music though separated by thousands of miles and many years makes me know we are all together and we will come through this. In years to come we will be telling of this time, and what we learned. Best of luck to everyone. 18th September 2021 Thank you all for your kind words and best wishes. I read all of your messages and you are assured that they lifted me as they surely lifted others. None of us are islands. We need each other. I needed support during those difficult weeks and you gave me that support. We will need more of that in the days, weeks and months to come. I am lucky that i will be able to talk of the dark times and what i have learned about the goodness in us all. Love to all. Understanding for all. Thank you.
Peter Gabriel wrote a human anthem with this song. It’s simply perturbing how this masterpiece enters your soul and moves every inch of your existence.
I got here from the anxiety Dr. On UA-cam. He suggested picturing your younger self/inner child and connect with that version of you and forgiving yourself while listening to this. ..It will do a number on you if you're ready for it. ♥
The year 2024 started nice. I called an old friend who also admires Peter‘s music. We spoke about the new album I/O that was the music highlight in two decades for me. He recommended to see this show of 1993 that moved me to tears. Thank you, Peter for this great experience and music that accompanies my life…
I also saw that show and was lucky enough to catch the new show in Philadelphia recently cuz I don't know if he'll tour again I doubt it he was awesome!
This song says everything that made me fall in love with my wife of 39 years. I remember meeting her the 1st time and not thinking much about her until I looked in her eyes, I knew then that she was the greatest woman I would ever meet. We married 5 months later and never split up, raised our children and started living our lives again after the kids were grown and gone. Sadly it didn't last as she passed from Cancer a short time later but whenever I'm missing her I play this song and I feel her presence with me and remember her eyes and the way she looked at me, still in love with you my sweet, forever yours, me.
All good points. I do believe this is a "Timeless Classic Song" I wanted to share an amazing #BBQ recipe with you and your friends : ua-cam.com/video/4E7nvKxBCDo/v-deo.html
This song give me shivers, no matter how many times I listen to it. I've been in and out of Ukraine delivering medical supplies and it's f'ing depressing. This song reminds me of all the good in the world and that we need to keep going, helping others and Mother Earth as much as possible. Thanks Peter.
Thank you for the work you do. I was doing Ukraine relief on the other side of the pond. Very rewarding. By the way Peter Gabriel will be in Krakow in May I think.
Artist and composer both. His skill and understanding of the musical impact is one thing that makes him so special. He knows a team can create what an individual cannot. He is a true leader.
I was at a concert on this tour in 1993 with these artists performing alongside Peter Gabriel. To say it was amazing just isn’t enough. This was the final song performed after two encores. It brought the house down. I’m so glad it’s recorded to be enjoyed all these years later.
Peter Gabriel was the ultimate entertainer. From his costumes and characters in his young Genesis days (my favorite time) to his synchronized playing and singing by him and his band. This video is one of my all time favorites.
Things have gotten courser for sure. In the Big Picture, it has to do with an acceleration of Light bringing up it's opposite (hatred) to the surface for examination and processing. The world isn't going to hell in a handbasket. It's experiencing growing pains and expressing so much repressed and denied bullshit. We will get to the other side of this in time. It will be like an outbreak of common sense. Many on this planet will have to die off and take their darkness with them...only to be replaced with a younger generation with a much higher Light Quotient.
I will post on this song for as long I live to keep it going personally (even though I know I don't have to do that, because it's so beloved world wide). I'm 55,..it's now 2025, and this has always been my pick for one the most powerful songs our species has ever created (in my opinion). I can feel this resonating for generations, centuries. Peter Gabriel, Paula Cole, Papa Wemba, Manu Katché, Tony Levin, David Rhodes, Jean Claude Naimro, Shankar.
An audience without any form of social media and mobile phones completely in sync with the performance...........the way it should be. Timeless piece of music ❤.........one of the best concerts ever
Saddened by recent world events, I listen to this and hope that one day, one day soon, we will realize what's truly important. One day the color of your skin will be as inconsequential as the color or your eyes. We will live as one. At peace and kind to one another......because together, we can make beautiful, timeless, inspirational music much like Peter, Manu, Paula, Tony, Papa and Crew have done here....and make this world a better place.
Colour isn’t an issue these days, it’s way worse than that. There’s forces behind the curtain out to scare us all into subservience. SARS, Ebola, global warming, climate change, Covid-19, Soros riots, it’s one thing after another to wear us down. Resist.
One of the best versions of one of the best songs ever written.... Recorded... Preformed... By a legend that never got the respect he deserved. 12/30/24.
@@christophspielmann316 But what right of yours to do it? That was petty to say the least. Didn't mommy tell you about what to do if you have nothing good to say? 🙄
The entire "Secret World" concert is probably the highpoint of his carrier, with the incredible Paula Cole, the always fantastic Tony Levin on bass, the likewise fantastic David Rhodes on guitar, and one of my favourite drummers, the hard hitting yet melodic Manu Katché.

This is the greatest, most uplifting live music peformance I've ever seen in my life...I literally watch this video almost every day. I'd also say that Manu Katché doesnt get NEARLY enough credit for his mind-boggling drumming throughout this song. His complex yet super-catchy polyrythms are the backbone to this performance, and I'd argue one of the key peices to what makes this performance so magical. JUST BRILLIANT, all around.
Yup Manu and Tony really hold the whole thing together, so well that most don't even notice how the current for the vast majority of the song relies on their drums and bass.
I bought a dvd of this recently, needing a nostalgia trip during a miserable lockdown. I am too young(at 53!)to remember Peter Gabriel in Genesis, but became a huge fan in the 80's and 90's. He has continued to evolve and change with the times brilliantly. He has worked with some wonderful and diverse talented people...totally without ego. I think this song has to be one of my favourites, as it evokes some personal memories every time I hear it. Wonderful performance!
I wasn't at this specific performance, but I did see this tour in DC. Was just as amazing! Still one of the top 5 concerts I've ever attended, and I've been to hundreds.
That's exactly what I was gonna say. I absolutely love it. Wish I could have been on that stage jumping with 'em. The unity of this performance gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. Just makes me smile.
I wish to see more concerts where the musicians look like they're just having fun on a round stage, dancing like nobody is watching. This is such a joy to see.
Mon Mon Now the concerts are more Rituals then communication of the lyrics and melody...I’m so tired of Moloch and symbols. This is a breath of fresh air....
There are truly world class drummers and then there are the very few who can incorporate the elements of world music and our American pop sensibilities into their drum voicings and phrasing that include us all and touch us deep down and for me Manu Kache' is at the top of this group... Mostly in the way he just sometimes releases his limbs and let's the music's energy carry him to whatever drum of cymbal that fits the music... But the greatest beauty of his drumming is about the where he leaves space and doesn't overplay....
I'm not qualified to critique any drummer professionally, but the quickness, complexity, and power of his strokes can only be matched by few in this world.
My favorite Peter Gabriel song. Didn't believe i could ever hear or see a better performance of it until I saw this. Tears of joy, I want this played at my funeral! Paula Cole gave me chills, she was so wonderful. Tony Levin on bass is incomparable. I can't get enough of this! I may not sleep tonight thinking about this.
we love this song too. thanks for telling us the singers etc...this song means everything to me.the world is on fire!!!!!!Peace be with you brother peace for all of us. thank you for such a wonderful song peter and friends.
I happened upon this clip on tube last night. It was a magical reminder of me and my then 12 YO daughter screaming down on a highway listening to this repeatedly. Every time the the song went to the lyrics "in Your Eyes' her little hands clenched mine mine and me raised as if if we were 'jumping - as in the video. That was 30 ish years ago. Made me cry. Effing brilliant video.
Jacob collier must love this video. I loved hos live performance as well. But to Bra Gabriel, you dont know what this track means to the ghettos of South Africa. My Ultimate production. Danko!! 2024
so sorry to know you mother has passed, hoping you are feeling better with lots of happy memories and this performance continues to uplift you x from a Peter fan
It is a very rare thing when an artist does a song so well and the engineering of the studio production is so great that it turns out perfect. Peter Gabriel did it twice on one album. Red Rain and In Your Eyes were those two perfect songs. It is even a more rare occurrence to hit one of those perfect songs out of the park in a live performance, yet Peter did it with both of them in this concert. Well done Mr. Gabriel. Well done indeed.
Whomever did the post production on this one deserves a feet/back rub. Ain't no live piece this good without a whole lot of post. I like the end product alot.
This song is one of the most beautiful songs ever written if not the best….Your fellow musicians were meant to be with you in this amazing song everyone on stage with are as one…..Your thoughts come from the heavens and your gift comes from the One…….
his record “So” has sooo many incredible songs. Red Rain and In Your Eyes are definitely favorites of mine. But don’t forget Sledgehammer, Don’t Give Up, Mercy Street or Big Time. 🙌
He's always been there... it's just that humanity hasn't developed enough inteligence and music taste to realise he is needed. Once Autotune has faded however, maybe there is hope for music...
This song takes me back to my freshman year of college in 1986...I was anxious about starting college because I'd been bullied in high school, but one of my college classmates (gifted with a discerning mind, a gentle soul, and the most beautiful eyes) reassured me, "Don't you realize this is a whole new beginning for you?" He gently kissed me while "In Your Eyes" was playing and that moment shall stay with me until the day I die.
Listening through headphones - I have tears in my eyes - can't really explain why - the inclusion of the complete audience with such talent is uplifting and so incredibly moving. What a privilege it must have been to have attended such an incredible concert.
What's with the 'old dude that loves great music' vibe...???? You're forgetting that it was your generation that gave us younger geezers music like this! 69? Pah! Or as Mrs Shakespeare's boy put it more eloquently: 'Age? Tis but a number...'
Peter Gabriel fantastic performance 👏 🎉. In 2024 this still sounds fabulous 👌. Great music 🎶 🎵 ❤ great lyrics 😅that people can relate to. Peter is never boring. Who's listening 🎶 👀 in 2024?
wow. nicely put. but i will add that escaping with thye greatest song ever written about god - ev erything is always right with thew world- the only place where adjustments could be made is in my mind- thats it- thank you -
Some years ago, I listened to this song at home before I had my first date with this girl I really really liked and had known for a little while. When I got to her place to pick her up, she was listening to this same song after just taking a shower. The album had been out for several years already, so it wasn't that it just came out. Sometimes I think she thinks I just say that to make HER feel good, but it's true. I was the lucky one though, we've been married for twenty-one years this last May. I'm a lucky dog. I am not worthy, but I try to make up for it every day.

The African influence is especially refreshing as well, it's amazing how one song can capture the essence of beauty, love, gratitude, pride, family in a manner of minutes. Kudos Mr. Gabriel for letting each and every member on that stage shine.
Everyone remembers Collins like Gabriel is an after thought.
Neither as good as Elton or Joel, but all fantastic

Said perfectly.........
right on !
Thank you sir.
...and then Paula Cole belts out heavenly vocals. Wonderful. Simply wonderful. Let this song inhabit your soul. The world needs this everyday.

30 years ago still one of the best concerts of all time
I’m watching this in my isolation room, suffering from Coronavirus. The effect of music is so uplifting. Knowing that others are moved by the same music though separated by thousands of miles and many years makes me know we are all together and we will come through this. In years to come we will be telling of this time, and what we learned. Best of luck to everyone.

Thank you all for your kind words and best wishes.
Thank you.
TheJonnyzeus prayers to you for a speedy recovery

Nancy Newyears ...thanks. I am feeling much better. Love to all.
Moments of mortality heighten our senses of appreciation. You will get through it and can help others.
Love you man!!!
By far this is the best version….
Peter Gabriel wrote a human anthem with this song. It’s simply perturbing how this masterpiece enters your soul and moves every inch of your existence.
Well said, Antonio. Agree 1,000%.
True. It owns you. no matter where you are, it takes you somewhere else.
you are in good company, sir. we all clearly feel the same as you.
Perfectly said
I got here from the anxiety Dr.
Thank you, Peter for this great experience and music that accompanies my life…
Check out "playing for change" series with the World all playing together".🕊️
I cried too.
I also saw that show and was lucky enough to catch the new show in Philadelphia recently cuz I don't know if he'll tour again I doubt it he was awesome!
My wife and I also choose this song for our wedding. We still together 33 years and four daughters after..
That must be awesome
Some people are so lucky
This song says everything that made me fall in love with my wife of 39 years. I remember meeting her the 1st time and not thinking much about her until I looked in her eyes, I knew then that she was the greatest woman I would ever meet. We married 5 months later and never split up, raised our children and started living our lives again after the kids were grown and gone.
Sadly it didn't last as she passed from Cancer a short time later but whenever I'm missing her I play this song and I feel her presence with me and remember her eyes and the way she looked at me, still in love with you my sweet, forever yours, me.
This is one of best performances I've seen on UA-cam and brings tears to my eyes everytime I watch it.
I hear ya, since the first time I heard it, decades ago, it makes me emotional. I love this guy and his music...

Hello 👋🏼 Diane Riley
Played hundreds of times and never get tired of it. Every musician in sync, enjoying themselves and we enjoying singing along. One of kind.
All good points. I do believe this is a "Timeless Classic Song"

Definitely incredible work
Makes ya wonder where he finds all his talent
This song give me shivers, no matter how many times I listen to it. I've been in and out of Ukraine delivering medical supplies and it's f'ing depressing. This song reminds me of all the good in the world and that we need to keep going, helping others and Mother Earth as much as possible. Thanks Peter.
thank you for the work your doing
Thank you for the work you do. I was doing Ukraine relief on the other side of the pond. Very rewarding. By the way Peter Gabriel will be in Krakow in May I think.

Just watched Tony Levin 2 hours ago on stage in Halifax at 78 years old. He is a machine.
I am always impressed with how generous Peter Gabriel is with the other musicians on the stage.
For him, it is all about the music.
Artist and composer both. His skill and understanding of the musical impact is one thing that makes him so special. He knows a team can create what an individual cannot. He is a true leader.
He always is though.
i saw him kick and hit paula cole once
No ego
Jesus, that band..I'm not sure where to look, what to listen.. the amount of talent on that stage is unreal.

Can you imagine what it would've been like to actually be there then
Right? It's sick. So sick. In the most amazing way. ❤️💓💕😘❤️💔💓❤️💕
I was at a concert on this tour in 1993 with these artists performing alongside Peter Gabriel. To say it was amazing just isn’t enough. This was the final song performed after two encores. It brought the house down. I’m so glad it’s recorded to be enjoyed all these years later.
Pater Gabriel way ahead of his time. One of the all-time BEST performances ever!!!!
This tour must be watched from beginning to end!!
Some of the best performances of Peter’s career.
Paula Cole is simply amazing with the band!!
Can you imagine being in the concert hall and experiencing all of that creativity and positive energy?
Peter Gabriel was the ultimate entertainer. From his costumes and characters in his young Genesis days (my favorite time) to his synchronized playing and singing by him and his band. This video is one of my all time favorites.
Been there Done that Saw this live with our small daughter and her best friend Great intro to life Thanks Peter
I can imagine what it's not like. Great entetrainer, privaliged to have seen it.
I'm playing it in my band :D
I saw this concert series, not this specific one but this series. It was mind-blowing, I will never forget.
Back when things were normal.. ♥
Society is heading into the toilet faster these days, from my perspective.
Not sure things were ever normal. We were just young...and i miss it...
@@GPD1984 *i🤔dOn´t*
Normal is not static.. it is only a moment in change
I watch this video every few months to remind myself what pure beauty is.
Me too ❤
AMOR, Peter Gabriel
I will now!
One of the best drumming sequencers of all time
Manu is a Master!
Yes it fills the grooves 🎉
Manu is so underated. His kit sounds incredibly powerful and fits this song perfectly
Superb comment
I would love to help make that happen :^)
Well said my brother of the universe!
Colour isn’t an issue these days, it’s way worse than that.
There’s forces behind the curtain out to scare us all into subservience.
SARS, Ebola, global warming, climate change, Covid-19, Soros riots, it’s one thing after another to wear us down. Resist.
to many people the colour of your skin is inconsequential , theres a small minority that think the opposite :-) and they dont count and never should
One of the best versions of one of the best songs ever written.... Recorded... Preformed... By a legend that never got the respect he deserved. 12/30/24.
There are no words to describe this performance 👏
The words are "full playback". He does not even sing.

Manu Katche has some really good jazz albums.
Could not have expressed my admiration for this performance any better
Musicians understand how important he is to the song structure
I wish I could have been there. Can you imagine...
Yup Manu and Tony really hold the whole thing together, so well that most don't even notice how the current for the vast majority of the song relies on their drums and bass.
This performance is magical. You can feel the love and joy all over that arena. I wish i was there.
Yes and Amen
I bought a dvd of this recently, needing a nostalgia trip during a miserable lockdown. I am too young(at 53!)to remember Peter Gabriel in Genesis, but became a huge fan in the 80's and 90's. He has continued to evolve and change with the times brilliantly. He has worked with some wonderful and diverse talented people...totally without ego. I think this song has to be one of my favourites, as it evokes some personal memories every time I hear it.
Wonderful performance!
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY !! :)
I wasn't at this specific performance, but I did see this tour in DC. Was just as amazing! Still one of the top 5 concerts I've ever attended, and I've been to hundreds.
I would have paid a thousand bucks to have been there; as you say 'magical'.
My song to my daughter… she was born in 1995…. Love of my life! Love this song!
I love how simple "jumping" shared with others on stage makes such a joyous performance.
Incomparable 🎼is this your favorite song?
Agree the jumping us so simple and celebratory with all of these wonderful talents!!!
That's exactly what I was gonna say. I absolutely love it. Wish I could have been on that stage jumping with 'em. The unity of this performance gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. Just makes me smile.
Your observation encapsulated perfectly what I could not put my finger on….not a huge fan, but I found this performance rather uplifting?

I agree wholeheartedly. I just came across the video and love this version of the song.

Madame Chaos, that’s right. Beaaaautiful!
Absolutely... Even he sings "Supper's ready" with Genesis for almost 30', I still feel it too short.
What I love about Peter Gabriel is that he interacts with members of his band and lets them shine also
Your observation is to the point, totally agree with you. What a soul

I love Peter Gabriel and Paula Cole performing with him outstanding !!!!
That drummer is phenomenal
To be honest, pretty much everyone PG works with falls into this category. :)
Manu Katche is a world-class drummer for sure!
But the greatest beauty of his drumming is about the where he leaves space and doesn't overplay....
manu Cache
I'm not qualified to critique any drummer professionally, but the quickness, complexity, and power of his strokes can only be matched by few in this world.
My favorite Peter Gabriel song. Didn't believe i could ever hear or see a better performance of it until I saw this. Tears of joy, I want this played at my funeral! A masterpiece of all time. One of the best arrangements ever!
Peter Gabriel is an Earth Angel, that’s why ❤
Perfectly said...incredible rendition
Whomever did the post production on this one deserves a feet/back rub. Ain't no live piece this good without a whole lot of post. I like the end product alot.
This song is one of the most beautiful songs ever written if not the best….Your fellow musicians were meant to be with you in this amazing song everyone on stage with are as one…..Your thoughts come from the heavens and your gift comes from the One…….
