Absolutely love how oblivious Bill is to how much he messed with Theo’s head on that episode…it means it wasn’t intentional. Theo definitely felt really down about it afterward though.
Also shows a lack of self awareness on Bills part, to be totally oblivious that he was being unpleasant and unfunny. Like, if a comedian asks you a silly joke and youre a comedian, give a joke response. Not, "what do you think? No i dont have a gun with me." Sortof a sharp and unfunny response to a silly question.
@@luke_mckay Then again, Bill is always unapologetically honest and that's a big reason why he's great at what he does. Sure, it would be great to keep other people's feelings in mind but maybe Bill just assumed that Theo had thick skin just like a lot of other comics he knows.
Bert is just pleasing Bill, just having to emphasise to him that ‘I saw the podcast and all I saw was my good buddy Bill, me and you are buddies right Bill? Don’t turn on me Bill’ 😂
That interview was just two comics with a different style. I find Theo funny, I find Bill funny. Theo can be more out-landish with his podcast/stand-up, where Bill will break you down from a logical point and riff off your ridiculous. They are on opposite sides off the spectrum. I'm sure they are friends when passing by, I don't think they'd hangout as best buds. Simple as that. I'm from the northeast as well, so maybe I'm bias, either or, I don't know why it bothers people so much.
Nah, I think bill just came up different. Burr, and his group of friends primarily Patrice would roast each other constantly. To him it was probably just friendly banter .
@@sa-mp5iw Yeah comics do that to other comics to literally make them better. As patrice or bill or someone said before, you'd never trash someone you didn't respect or like, you'd only trash the good comdians because it'd just be sad to trash a bad comidian
I just watched the interview based on comments that keep coming up. I didn’t see anything off about the interview. Also from the northeast, so I always feel like Bill comes off as me and my friends talking, so could be bias, but it seemed perfectly fine to me.

Underrated. Yes. Way 2 different men with different upbringing. Comedians relate to others, not just crows but individuals through their comedic style. That style developed growing up. So yes they didn't fit but still both are great.
@@FallMatic Glad you can read, you dim wit. I'm sure for a dummy like you, that's bragging. Patrice made him look fragile and stupid, and was by far the funnier,
The way Theo thinks is so unorthodox and unusual and he is obviously highly intelligent. Just the sheer wit of the man, the speed of his comebacks and the unique angle he has on things is extraordinary. Perhaps Bill, being such a great comic and a veteran of the business, didn’t realise that Theo was meeting one of his “idols” and therefore expectations and nerves would have been pretty high for him.
Listen to Bills podcast. The guy is the same person 24/7 and constantly bashes himself and confirms he’s emotionally unstable. Theo didn’t catch him on an off day and there was nothing scripted or inorganic about that interview. Bill is actually quite a generous comedian who is supportive of young comics like Theo and has openly stated that he respects his comedy and doesn’t wish harm on anyone.
Bill was unquestionably hostile for no real reason other than thinking theos style was a bit ADHD and impatient. He simply was, period. I've seen PLENTY of burrs interviews where HE DOESN'T DO THAT with guys who are bigger than him, or that he respects. He was coming at Theo in a weird ass way.
You really think that if Bill had disliked the interview or Theo and he thought Theo was a nobody he would have held back from saying it? I've seen the interview, what Theo said about it, and now this, and it's clearly just a situation of different personalities coming together. Yall don't talk to many people, do you?
Who watches a billl burr special and is confused about the h3 or Theo interviews. He probably doesn't realize it was tense I imagine a lot of his conversations go the same way behind the camera too
I respect what Bill is saying cause alot of times people do make something out of nothing. But even Theo admitted that something was off about their interview. Bill didn't understand Theos humor and it just made it awkward
@Yanni75 Theo's humor is hyper optimistic and absurdist and Bills is hyper pessimistic and grounded. The two of them naturally weren't going to click, it's oil and water.
Theo is not a real comedian that’s the difference he’s not funny at all doesn’t mean Theo is a bad guy or not good to listen to in podcast format just pointing out obvious that he’s not funny
Thats not what it is its just bill burr is just real plain and straight forward he doesnt like gigs or acts and doesnt care about peoples feelings where theo is joking or real wonderous like a angsty kid with adhd theyre the complete opposite in comedy styles
@@Ynox54321 except this whole take and the response in this video run counter to Theo and the Klein guy’s discussions afterward. Just going into blind “it’s all fake news” mode doesn’t really jive with reality here. Go watch the videos. He mentioned how he’d love to do Theo’s show again but there’s a snowballs chance in hell either one of them will invite him back because the vibe was just an acid tongued baby. It’s one thing to have these biting comments in an act or where everyone is cracking up. But the difference is when he wasn’t really trying to be funny.
@@KingLagoYT I guess different listeners will respond to it differently. If you ask me it didn't feel like a laid back conversation. I promise Theo wasn't having as good a time as he wanted with Bill talking down to him.
Basically what happened was as follows : Bill is making the podcast rounds to promote his special, shows up for business, Theo tries to be himself, but Bill doesn't understand Theo's vibe, making him think Theo is dumb, is very awkward, tense and overly critical through out, very apparent that Bill doesn't want to be there and leaves after only an hour.
You're way off. Theo's vibe during that podcast, for whatever reason.. i don't know the guy, was bringing the mood down a couple of times. Bill Burr saw that and immediately steered the conversation to being light-hearted again. Theo showed no appreciation or self-awareness and was oddly defensive. Especially with his bitching and moaning some time afterwards. That's what happened, the way I saw it.
@@Yanni75 that’s how I saw it as well. I’ve seen Bill on a bunch of other podcasts and even on Rogan he called him out on some of his “right wing” bullshit similar to how he was calling Theo out a few times. The difference is Rogan laughed at himself and at bills ball busting and Theo backpedaled, got defensive and made it awkward. I just don’t think their styles mesh very well. Nothing wrong with that.
Honestly... Those interviews were awkward. Theo even said he felt it was a weird vibe. Bills wrong about the internet commenters making something out of nothing. It wasn't a huge drama, but it was a bit awkward and cringe inducing.
Stephen Casey if you watch the body language videos on bill you’ll see he has watched them he often mentions body language and is very aware of being alpha
Stephen Casey Bill seemed off on a podcast like he was trying to prove he's smarter or something. Theo was being himself though - trying to chill and vibe with him but it didn't work.

One thing is not to have a chemistry with someone; another is to totally shit and disrespect the other person. That's what Burr did. I'm no fan of Theo but there were times during the interview where Burr deserved a punch in the mouth.
I watched the entire Theo Von/Bill Burr episode, Bill Burr came off like a prick. It wasn't chopped up, nothing out of context, he mistreated a dude trying to be cool with him.
Ive enjoyed Bills work long before even knowing who Theo is, and honestly, considering how insightful Burr can be, Im quite surprised at his lack of self-awareness in this regard. The "What do you mean? We had a good time!" is basically a cliche response of someone who cant and/or doesnt want to read the room for whatever selfish reasons, and what sucks even more is that Bill Knows the abstract of it, as he built an entire sitcom around the issue (which is wonderful). All in all, We All make mistakes, and Bill is not a bad guy for what happened there, but for him to not recognize what happened does raise some questions about his credibility as "the arbiter of facts".
Watching Bill sometimes reminds me of the hierarchy that exists in comedy. He would never act like he did with theo or ethan klien when he was with joe rogan or tom segura. But on the other hand if Bill would pick on rogan or segura they have the confidence to laugh at it. Theo just kind of sat there like a deer in headlights wondering if bill respects him or not. For instance bill told tom segura that he looked like a serial killer and accused tom of being into comedy road kill. Tom just laughed. If Bill were to criticize theo about his comedy theo would have probably been pretty shaken. Maybe its a little lack of awareness on bills part to not acknowledge how his words impact people differently based on their status in the industry but i dont think bill’s intention was to put theo in his place so to speak. I think he thought theo would respond differently.
He's a comedian, not an arbiter of facts. Hell, the dude sings about underwear and sweaty balls.. 😂 he may have opinions, but I don't think he wants to be the arbiter of anything.
Nah. For Bill it's just banter the way he talks to his friends. He doesn't see anything wrong with it because he's just being real and didn't mean anything bad.
I actually like both comics for different reasons. Two completely different styles and vibes that don’t go together - it’s like eating a peanut butter and shrimp sandwich = just awkward and wrong.
Yess although it sounds comical it was definitely this...going into someone’s house and seeing this really unflattering caricature of you and your wife is going to put you off!!!
Then Theo needs to stop being a sensitive little bitch. He wouldn't have lasted a second on O+A or at the Cellar table in the mid 2000s, if he's crying about this interview, which by Burr standards was mild.
I NEVER get offended by Bill, ever. I’ve listened to soooo much of his stuff, even times when he’s made fun of things I LOVE passionately, I still laugh. But his interview with Theo was fucking bizarre and it made me upset with him. Theo was going through a rough time and Idk, it just rubbed me the wrong way. Love ya Bill, but I’m getting the Professional “wait, whattaya mean? what are ya talking about?!” Bullshitter vibes here. “Wait, We was just having a good time!” *points open palm at ground in disbelief* lol 😂
It’s the classic ‘look how worldly I am I never get offended BUT you offended me’ shite bill always gets lmao. Sorry you got offended by him shooting the shit

He is not your friend. Hes a guy on the internet. Hes a comedian and hes just a regular person. If it makes you upset that your perception of the podcast was "bizarre", as you said, then >>>[that is on you]
Confidence in yourself makes people uncomfortable . Bill Burr is one of the most transparent people in the entertainment world. Those guys just didn't expect to get real answers you don't get any feel good bullshit out of that guy 😂💯
Spot on. Bill's input is a masterclass. If Theo was a successful young singer asking advice from Frank Sinatra, you'd expect him to be listening to Frank spilling the tea. Theo got it, but I think some of his fans may be struggling with listening to a voice of experience who doesn't sugar-coat his words. But I have zero qualifications in stand-up, so, who cares what I think.
are you suggesting that guys like Jocko Willink aren't comfortable with themselves? I watched the Burr interview and a Jocko interview around the same time and Jocko was way cool. He still busted Theo's balls, but he had a much better sense of humour and playfulness than Bill did (which is weird because Bill is more playful with Rogan, he just seemed to not get or like Theo that much)
@@optimize. I seriously don't see what Bill did wrong. Ex. Asking a guest if they bring a gun on their helicopter isn't a remotely funny thing to ask; it's just odd.
i watched the whole thing and it got awkward but i didnt feel like it was as bad as people thought it was, bill burr has that personality and theo has a more easy going friendly and apologetic personality, theo avoids conflict and bill burr strives in it... so the two personalities kind of clashed where it looked like bill burr was being a bully because theo is so much more easy going, where if bill talked that way to a comic that talks shit back or has that aggressive personality like a joe rogan for example it wouldnt feel so awkward, itd just feel like two comedians talking shit. But again since theo dosnt like conflict it just made it seem like he was being bullied, which i dont think he was.
Agreed. I noticed the awkwardness too, but I just took it as an underwhelming interview where the personalities clashed a bit. Did not think it was neeaaarly as bad as the internet or Theo made it out
Burr is doing proper damage control, but the fact is, he went on Theo's thinking he was a hack and he was waisting his time... and that's how he came across the whole episode: condescending and disrespectful. Yet, he doesn't owe anybody any explanation or apology. It was what it was.
If I remember correctly there was times where he wanted Theo to just talk to him about whatver it was Burr's latest special or something but the conversation was still welcome to go on any tangent that Burr himself wanted to go down. It kind of felt like a father has to sit with his daughter's boyfriend. Theo was trying to impress, Burr was just putting him down but eventually they found some common ground talking about motorsports
I like that Bill's defence to this is by doing the exact same thing to Bert that he did to everyone else. He's the same person every where and every day. At least that's easy to navigate.
Bert's right burr has a huge unawareness about himself and its how disrespectful he is to people. He's one of the funniest out there but his brash nature on stage does not translate in alot of podcasts. It's not people misunderstanding him. In alot of cases it almost feels like he goes out of his way to make the person interviewing hims job more difficult.
@@BabaLoochi Theo had a painting of all the top podcasters in Simpson's cartoon style on his wall for his podcasts and Bill Burr and his wife were on it as cartoons. Perhaps wanted to get his shots in but slip away afterwards by playing it off and not appearing to be hurt and or an @$$hole for it
i remember ppl blowing the interview out of proportion. I never saw anything wrong with it. Bill was being blunt but not mean at all. You could tell he cares about and fucks with Theo
You’re literally a perfect example of what Bill is talking about here.... he’s just from Boston and the internet is too sensitive he quite obviously was enjoying himself this whole time that’s his personality

Part of what makes Bill Burr an elite comic is that he is authentically a prick, it’s not only his brand but genuinely who he is as a person.. I just don’t understand how ppl are so shocked when he does their podcast/interview and happens to be a prick & they’re suddenly caught off guard & get lost in their heads.. Like did you prepare at all? Do you know anything about the man you’re interviewing? It’s like interviewing Hulk Hogan & being shocked/personally insulted when he says “Brother”
He's authentic alright, imho. But I wouldn't describe him as a prick. There's nothing mean-spirited about him, in all the interviews and podcast appearances that I've watched. He often makes fun of himself too.
This was my Fucking favorite podcast! I was genuinely Fucking mad when they canceled it! This was my favorite part about Wednesdays, I had the biggest Fucking laughs listening these 2
I saw both interviews and it was just Bill being Bill, I think h3h3 and Theo Von are maybe too used to Hollywood types, where everyone is trying to be nice and kind and trying to make it a good podcast. Bill can't help being anyone except Bill.
It was Bill who was being sensitive he was crying every time he thought Theo doesn’t like a movie or show he likes. I agree that H3 is a Hollywood softie with the most fragile ego but I think Bill was off his game for that Theo pod.
Stop simping for him. He’s an obnoxious , angry, grandiose, person. How could you agree with him about the interviews when those two podcasts were reacted to so negatively by such a diverse group of observers. ? . He’s the kind of dude people want to be close to in order to avoid him turning on YOU and being the focus of his bad humor.
Yeah, seriously. I had a friend like him once where all of his jokes were just shitting on people and having a "holier than thou" attitude. It gets really fucking old, quick. I get roasting your friends and talking shit, but when its every fucking conversations it's infuriating. Like Bert is a pussy too in this, he backtracks on anything if Bill finds it ridiculous. Stand up for yourself dude, jesus christ.
I don’t believe Bill on this one. He was rude, and he isn’t being honest about it. And you can tell he’s on the defensive IMMEDIATELY. “Do you Google yourself?!?” Immediately sling an insult to get the attention off of him. Just saying, Bill isn’t being honest and taking accountability.
You people really need to stop calling comedians roasting each other as "insults". You know what you get with certain comedians, maybe you don't like that style and thats fine, but don't invite them to your podcast and act all shocked when they act exactly how they are on stage and in their own podcasts. I wonder what most of these guys would make of Patrice if he was still alive. That's the crowd Bill Burr hanged out with.

@BootyClapper ReekZ so you dont understand Bill's humor and theo is one of your favorite comedians so you took it personal when in reality it was a totally fine podcast
If there's a "thing" then this is history repeating itself. I'm getting some strong vibes similar to when Billy and Patrice O'Neal were on that Mancow radio show and mancow kept being an ass on the call, and all of the fans took it the wrong way, they put their feedback in on Bill's website/email and it blew up between him and Patrice on the Opie and Anthony show. These dude's are cool with each other, but then the fans read too far into shit and can't take the whole picture for what it is. It's comedy, take it as comedy.
Maybe I didn't word my comment correctly? I know that was a legit beef between them, that's why I cited it. People taking what these comedians are saying out of context and telling it to other comedians that are close friends to them, painting them in a real bad light, almost burning entire friendships up as a result. Terrible stuff, it's just good to see Bill still views Patrice as a brother and reflects on all of that stuff now and can see how it unfolded and that it was all wrong.
@@Aspis_1-0 no I think you worded it correctly I just disagree. How’d the fans blow it up? Patrice was actually pissed, you heard them argue, right? Patrice hated Mancow and didn’t feel like Bill had his back when he was fucking with Patrice, also felt like Bill was joining in with Mancow. I just don’t think the fans cause that.
@@ryansmith144 I agree, the interview itself got really heated. It could've stopped there though, but the people listening in on it, after it all happened, were a factor that rubbed salt in the wound - feedback getting back to both guys from outside sources that the other was talking real crap about them when they actually weren't. Bill and Patrice were brothers and they argued like it too. If we want to just talk about the interview itself, then I'm going to quote someone who commented on one of the videos that was uploaded here on UA-cam that documented the whole interview, a comment I believe accurately describes the dynamic between Bill and Patrice when Patrice was alive and after his passing. "This is what happens when grown men can't acknowledge that even they can have their feelings hurt. The foundation for Bill & Patrice's friendship was rooted in comedy, Bill thought he had a license to dig into Patrice for something that happened to Patrice that he found funny. From Patrice's perspective, though, the comedy part should've been set aside and Bill should've just taken Patrice's side because ManCow was clearly trying to sabotage Patrice. On that end, I can totally see where Patrice is coming from. I do think, though, that Patrice used that frustration to bury Bill in order to save himself the humiliation, which is where this whole thing turned ugly. I think had Patrice just gone to Bill after the appearance and told him how he honestly felt, this would've never become an issue... But because Patrice didn't want Bill to think it hurt his feelings, or open himself up to Bill kicking him while he's down, he tried to pretend it didn't affect him at all. And this is why a lot of grown men ultimately get hurt, because they can't just tell another grown man when something upsets them. We always feel like we have to toughen each other up because that's how others are with us, and we feel like we have to justify our own neglect/mistreatment by passing it off to others. But I do understand it -- because even though I know this is the case, I still have a hard time telling another person that something hurts. You just don't want other people to see you weak, which is why (sadly) it takes things like death and tragedy for us to really show our emotions. Bill can talk about Patrice now in ways he never could while he was alive, because he doesn't have to feel ashamed for doing so. And that might be the biggest tragedy of all, because even in this fight here you can totally hear the love. These two were brothers. They still are."
@@Aspis_1-0 idk where you’re going with all that but no, they blew it up themselves before anyone else did. Patrice himself called him right after it happened and cursed him out. Patrice also talked about it first, him harping on it was why Bill’s fans were asking him about it. If Joe Rogan and Theo Vonn got into a huge fight and Joe Rogan was going off on podcasts after a public interview of them fighting happened, fans are obviously going to ask Theo about it lol. It’s not like they were digging for some BS story, Patrice was pissed, him and that whole crew hated Mancow.

That interview was just two comics with a different style. I find Theo funny, I find Bill funny.

They’ve worked at the same club for like a decade or more
You mean dumb right when you say unique right?
Listen to Bills podcast. The guy is the same person 24/7 and constantly bashes himself and confirms he’s emotionally unstable. One thing is not to have a chemistry with someone; another is to totally shit and disrespect the other person. That's what Burr did. I'm no fan of Theo but there were times during the interview where Burr deserved a punch in the mouth.
That and bill was a bit of a prick

What? Dude that was a legitimate beef that almost ended their friendship lol. They were totally not cool for a while
Maybe I didn't word my comment correctly?
It’s not like they were digging for some BS story, Patrice was pissed, him and that whole crew hated Mancow.
where was this clip taken from?? wanna hear/see what bill's rebuttle is about h3 then
Controversy gets them more clicks. It's that simple.
Bill saying that internet trolls are just making something out of nothing isn't being honest. Bill can be harsh sometimes with his honesty, but with Theo, he was , deliberately $hitting all over him. I find it hard to believe he didn't know that or realize it then and especially now
G l popkjpjbj hiuhhh😅hj 😅bi
Theo had/has a terrible depiction of Nia in the mural behind his podcast.
@@aaronfalzerano9432 yeah, I think he just paid an artist to paint all podcasters as Simpson characters. I doubt it was malicious of Theo or purposely making her look hideous. Bill said on multiple occasions, he thinks the podcast went well and acts like he's totally unaware that he was being mean. Pretty dishonest IMO.
@@tommyapples8490 That's obviously what happened, but if your wife is pissed about that you've got to take her side.
Bill is right about how they take soundbites out of context but I'd rather they do this over a dumb podcast than actual politics
Bless Bill's heart....
Wow, Bert is calm and doesn't sound crazy.
Overall it wasn't that bad. I recently watched it and I think bill did dig into him a couple times but also theo did a bad job of letting the interview breathe. He sometimes sounded like he was rushing things along. Even the part about the movie, after listening to bill for a long time and then hearing someone tell him that he walked out of a movie and not even make it funny or even handle being made fun of for that is pretty weak.
The 2nd H3 podcast was good, the Theo Von podcast was a bit tense.
Reason it was a little awkward because both have very distinct personality, behavior and opinions. IMO the podcast was really good except few moments because they clashed. And Bill is notorious for making jokes all the time. So he won't hesitate to make any kind of joke at any time of anyone
@@shadycry5047 Burr just can't lighten up sometimes, he takes things very literally and Theo loves to exaggerate and make no sense. The contrast was just two much.
@@koneking2569 What the guest should have known? Lmao that is not how things work mate, Theo should have known and been prepared to cop some shit, its just the way burr is.
Its not like he changed for that fuckin interview, fuck its literally like "omg it was so out of character for Burr to behave like that"
No, he behaved exactly how he usually does, he gives people shit.
@@koneking2569 Burr is the guest. It's Theo's job to prepare as a host. You guys make it sound like Theo was doing little unknown comedian Billy red tits a favour by having him in his podcast.
