1:32:00 I went to a Louie CK show in Alabama about 7 years ago ( very small place, was about 10 feet away), Louie made a comment about why I was at the show and not laughing. It was in fact a great show and that just how I process the jokes.
The thing that fascinates him is observing, studying and dissecting other peoples behavior. And trying to get to the core of why people do the things they do. I have no doubt he's thoroughly entertained with listening to Theo and trying to get some insight into how his brain works
Shane Gillis was the only other one, and it’s no surprise to me that Louis CK went on Shane’s podcast too. I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it. Louis’s podcasts with Shane are very high quality in the same way, they’re listening to each other and there’s nothing forced, it’s all based off honesty and being real
If there was ever a path for Theo to have a movie or single season series about his childhood, Louis would be the perfect producer/director/writer to make that happen.
I knew their vibes would be great, they’re both very outside of themselves, contemplate others and relationships, and life deeply. Introspectively, with fun spins on things. Great podcast
When Theo said “thanks for the compliment” and then before going into his story he paused again and said “it’s probably one of the best compliments I’ll ever get” was such a beautiful moment. I’m so happy for Theo.
@@molepup Flagrant's first new episode was Rogan, that was tremendous for completely different reasons to this one, but since then thrrrrrrrrp, mostly. I know you mean Flagrant xd
The respect luis ck gave to theo was unbelievable. You can tell how fascinated he is with theo. You treated him so well. He complimented him, this was an amazing podcast
I agree. Louis was very engaged the whole time and made Theo feel very comfortable. Theo could say the craziest things and Louis would be right there with him no problem
Louis is fascinated with theo and how his brain works, and seems to me he truely cared about theo's insecurities in the work they do. made for a GREAT conversation.
Yes he has a good podcast. He should stick with that,, the stand up is, I dont know. Like its not him, how can he be so quick and have all the comebacks and extremely funny insight of things and stories, and absolutely none of that comes out on the stage!!? After 18 years he sounds like a beginner. I dont get it. Like muskot fire which had me thinking, this guy is gonna be killing it in a few years. But he has gotten very good at interviews etc but the stand up is just a mish mash of what happens in his podcasts...doesnt seem to be the way to go, at all.
i cant even imagine how theo must have felt having one of the biggest legends of comedy give him such genuine affirmation and admiration towards his career. not only that, being able to have louie be so unguarded through the whole episode. another banger of a podcast.
@@jaypers232 ive always seen louie as if hes playing a character that is himself, right, but this is the first time ive seen him where it literally looks like hes just having a conversation with a friend. idk how to describe it. it was as if there werent cameras in the room. very surreal.
Yeah it must have been hard for Theo to attempt to keep it light even though this old weird dude only wanted to speak on sex and sexual gratification including children the entire time👱🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🙄🙄🙄
When Louie's mom says to your dad as she's dying that she wanted him to know he wasn't alone might be the deepest loving statement Iv ever heard about someone she didn't have to care for. It's beautiful
Louie seems to have really come a long way in the past few years. I used to think of him as a bit cynical, jaded, and wasn't afraid to tell people "that's just stupid, what the hells wrong with you?", lol. But now he seems to actually listen to and engage with people much more so than I remember him being. He just seems to really be much more present and in the moment or something. I guess all his therapy, psychedelic therapy, being canceled, etc, has really helped him sort of find himself.
Much better than Bill Burr absolutely tearing Theo a new asshole Id love to see Burr and CK on a Podcast together I don't think Bills arrogance would work on CK.
Listening to Louie talk to another comedian for over 2 hours non stop really makes me so thankful for podcasts. The fact that we all get to be a fly on the wall while these 2 guys are talking is such an amazing gift.
It's cool to listen to the pros talk about their method. You can take comedy classes from failed comedians but off the cuff nuggets of wisdom by masters are the best.
Actually got a picture, autograph and $100 tip from Louie back when I was a mechanic at Sears. He had a blowout on the highway and pulled off to the closest shop. Real cool dude, we kept his privacy by doing business in the back away from the store front, but we chatted the whole time he was there. At the time he was driving a Ford Flex, which had 20 inch wheels so we didn't have a tire in stock. He was about to buy 4 rims and 4 tires if they were in stock, but I ended up putting his spare for him, but he was still super grateful. At the time, I told him I had a fiancée and that we were huge fans; he then took a pic with me, gave me his autograph, and $100 tip. On his way out and after giving me the tip, he told me to buy her something nice, instead I got the photo framed with his autograph and the $100 bill. The autograph said "thanks for almost fixing my fucking car" I was perfectly roasted.
This is my favourite Louis podcast he's done and my favourite Theo Von guest. Louis seems to really like Theo and understand his unique type of intelligence. I think Louis and Theo are both emotionally intelligent dudes.
I love how CK was genuinely interested and empathetic in Theo's upbringing. That means a lot to someone who grew up confused with parents support/affection when an older respected figure gives you the time and effort to hear you out.
Theo's original mind paired with Louis' intellectual curiosity of human nature was the perfect pairing. If this doesn't get millions of views, that would be a shame. (for the people that miss out)
@@kyptokrit1630maybe he just enjoys thinking and acting weird, unusual for the rush of it. (Surprise effect tickles the brain so much, that's why we like new things and comedic deception, absurdity). You know, he has history of substance abuse and since he went sober that's the best high he can get.
louis ck did his best, bill burr couldn’t do it 😂😂 they come from the era of titans like dave atel, patrice o’neal, jim norton and them. monsters. theo is a sweetheart lol
I think I was close to crying two times during this. The honesty in this conversation about one's acceptance of themselves and their past is very rare to hear. The one thing Louie said about loving his dog with unconditionally and then saying the same thing can be applied to loving yourself was so good.
@@YCWideawakeFinest252 i love both of then but i like some of the new guys like Shane Gillis and Tim Dillion. Its cool they all collaborate. Its a great time for comedy.
@@TheJols def thankful for the new guys, Tom and Bert are just above them in time put in....but Louie and Dave ALWAYS make sure they teach us something farther then a joke...ppl say comedy is dead, and forget that Louie won the grammy for 2022....its crazy.
Theo's jokes/bits/stories are so absured and hilarious that it usually catches people off guard and they really don't know what to say and the conversation just keeps going. Louis really appreciated the humor, didn't rush through a thing, asked lots of questions and really brought out the best in Theo. This episode is great.
I’m only 40 minutes in and I gotta say this feels like the first time the guest really let Theo be Theo without patronizing him or going along with a joke they don’t understand. Also they’ve gone pretty deep into this parent stuff but it doesn’t feel weird. Really good episode so far.
This interview was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The part where Louis whipped out his phone to tell Theo about the bits that made him personally crack up made me damn proud of Theo, as hearing that from a legend like Louis is like hearing Kobe say he studies your three point shot. Just awesome chemistry between these two.
There is so much to unpack in this episode. I'm going to have to rewatch it. I've never seen anyone really "go there" with Theo as much as Louis. He seemed perfectly ok with meeting Theo in whatever memory or moment no matter the topic. It's one thing to listen to a story it's another to put yourself there. I felt like Louis was willing to do that. Pretty special.
This is one of my favorite podcast episodes. Louis is such a good dude, the fact he took time to listen to Theo's standup and then breakdown what he's so good is such a genuine thing to do
This might be one of the best podcasts I’ve ever heard man. Louis truly cares about every breath Theo makes and understands the beauty of his quirkiness. The Rickles story really made me tear up dawg
@@saaketh83 The "huh. yeah?" comment after Theo revealed his concerns about cremation 🤣 Even after 2+ hours of conversation, Louis is still being surprised by how Theo's mind works. The sign of a truly original thinker!
They really should do more episodes together. Louis actually gets Theo and can really riff off of his absurdity in unpredictable but contributive ways.
There is a moment around 1:08:00 where they are talking about the angler fish and Louis perfectly takes on Theo comedic cadence saying "Latches onto that ass" Louis really is a genius
Honestly. When Theo started talking about how your sexuality is "yours" and Louis quietly said that's a very profound thing you're saying I had this strange reaction and got teary....
Cause he didn’t respect his once upon a time and the world knows and he wishes it could be his again. But life teaches you and that’s why he said the mdma story about it being fragile and him learning to respect it now
He is. Which is why the me too stuff that happened with him was such a low cultural moment. It’s like okay man maybe this guy didn’t handle himself the best at all points but he’s clearly a good guy and we’re acting like he’s a serial rapist now.
He’s barely an actor. He’s only one because of stand up. I’ve seen hundreds of interviews with Louis over the years. He’s clearly a very caring person. You would have to be to come up with observations he does.
Louie trying to figure out wtf Theo is talking about with each story Theo tells is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. Not all guests really dissect his stories or ask questions and it’s so awesome to see Louie’s interest. You can tell they are both great listeners as well as great speakers.
YES! A perfect example is at 51:05 when Louis randomly picks-up on the fact that Theo referred to _himself_ as ‘us’, so Louis asks why he does that. Then Theo drops this gem: “it was just me , but I say ‘us’ so I don’t feel alone, I think. I do that a lot.“ *Louis* : “ 🤣 😂 😆 (slaps knee) sure! that makes sense”
I think that’s one of the reasons Louie is such a good comedian…he’s genuinely interested in life and other people’s behavior and experiences. He’s a good listener and probes further because of his strong curiosity about everything…and Theo is the same way. This conversation is so good!
You see the genius of Louis here in the way he asks questions to sort of fill out Theo’s stories. He’s so observational that he’s able to bring out the funny side seeing the humor in the seemingly mundane.
I agree with what you are saying. And Louis is a bit older than Theo, he has more life experiences, so in a way he seems to be mentoring Theo. Louis is not competitive like some guys. Hopefully, he can teach Theo how not to do stupid things that could ruin your high rank in the comedy world.
I think Theo just makes up random bullshit on the spot and it’s hilarious when folks just keep priding at it and make him get more and more elaborate with that bullshit. 😂
I lived without a computer as a teen forever. Straight up couldn't afford one. Graduated early and got knocked up. I'm Catholic and got knocked up, moved to the actual hood (I didn't know....my neighbors were all so nice an I had no idea they were all on crack.) They were so kind to me. Had a trap phone (not for trappin, my mom, dad and my job were my contacts) , no internet. Sometimes we had our electricity shut off and had to run extension cords from us to him, or he shared his electricity with me. I feel like Theo gets it. Oh, Imma find this tomorrow and delete it. It seems like a screenshot ready made for reddit.
He used to have an old bit where he would say something like: after you have children "fuck a dog", you couldn't care less about anything BUT your own family. I know it's just a bit but there are a lot of truths in his comedy. So for me to see him develop into a 100% focused dad, raising his children, letting them go to the world and come back to a house where now a dog is on the receiving end of this love and nourishment gives me hope, because I am still at the dog fase, pre children :D
I hope Theo takes a moment and is able to see that he’s so special and so funny, that one of the absolute maestros of comedy not only gave him his flowers, but even castigated himself for not having known who he is after listening to an album that he made 6 years ago. I love how much these two appreciate each other as they speak.
Louis CK might be the best Theo Von guest ever. The conversation flows so naturally and they understand each other but it’s also hilarious. On other shows like Joe Rogan Theo’s an unstoppable force, but the host isn’t an immovable object so the result is more laughing at Theo being crazy. This just works so well
It wasn't until halfway through that LCK said "I should listen to something from him so I can pay him a compliment or hear him talk".... I thought they were life-long friends based on the conversation until that moment. Amazing flow of conversation
Theo finally got a comedian who wasn’t afraid to be real, and at the same time appreciates/understands theos unique style and was able to riff with it. Such a good episode
So true! I've listened to Louis praising Theo from 1:26 to 1:31 like 10 times now. Could you imagine getting these compliments from the best in the business?!?
Yeah Louis CK is definitely the one of the most successful "comic's comic" since Carlin and I think Louis was genuine in that he enjoyed the stuff, as someone with a couple decades on him he was being sincere it would seem, and I think you could tell Theo really appreciated that compliment too.
1:51:45 Louis really nailed it here! When you change to make a situation work, then it's no longer you that is experiencing it, it's a false version of you. This creates a disconnect between who you are and who you're pretending to be. If you can't be yourself while you do something, it's not worth doing no matter what the potential rewards appear to be.
He really hit some solid stuff. For anybody keeping score on philosophy out there, he was, to my ear, really flying close to some David Velleman, Christine Korsgaard, Harry Frankfurt, and a lot of stuff in philosophy of agency and right action. I would pay a lot of money to hear Louis doing some kind of interview with David Velleman.
Louis is the best. Seeing him here, and on Shane’s podcast, he does such a good job letting the younger comedians take the lead/support them. Usually other comedians particularly that are older ones tend to want all the attention. But you can tell Louis is genuinely having fun getting to know these guys.
Louis has been such a pivotal character in my life. Listening to Chewed Up, Hilarious, Shameless and Louis on O&A id all have on my ipod rdy for any flight to help me relax. After my mother passed his stand up was the first thing to make me laugh again. Thank you Louis for decades of laughter, joy and overall sense of positivity.
Louie is such a loving person dude, it's crazy when you hear him talk about comedy. He truly loves it and it's contagious. His love of comedy overcomes the fear that comes with being honest during a joke.
I don't have the timestamp, but there's a wide angled shot of both of them while Theo is talking and Louie is just chilling with his legs out, reclined and relaxed, and the expression on his face looks like it's saying "I really, really like this kid".
@@love.and.cinema That's the look of "Thank god they let me back on these podcasts and made my multiple dick flashes and assaults on girls look like no big deal"
@@ZeranZeran Assaults? I don't know what you're thinking of - Louis had a somewhat weird kink where he would ask women he liked to watch him whack off, weird but not near the weirdest - the issue only arose when he was too famous for that shit, a couple who said yes at the time later said they only did so because of his influence or because they worked projects where he was the boss. Throwing around the words like that is an insult to actual assault get a grip ffs
This episode healed some of my father wounds. Such an amazing episode. So authentic. No show. Just two guys having an organic conversation that’s not weird at all. Not trying to outdo each other. Not threatened by one another. Just perfect. Never knew Louis in this way.
That story Theo told about a fight that he had with a kid hit a little too close to home for me. I had that same experience back in highschool, I am 34 now, where I fought another kid and we were taken to the principal's office. While waiting for the principal to call us, they made us sit next to each other which took like forever and I am not sure if they intended it just so we would have time to cool down and get bored and start talking to each other but it worked. By the time we were called to get to the principal's office we were already best mates. We continued being best friends until he died 13 years later. I miss him every day and I always get teary-eyed thinking of him. One of the best human beings ever to walk this Earth.
My fav Theo podcast. Theo doesn't have to always be funny and can be a deep dude. The problem is some people always expect comedy out of him and it can't get any deeper. Louis CK vibed with him on all levels here.
It's funny how Louis ck got cancelled for trapping 'young female comics' to stroke it in front of them Theo invites comics onto his show to video tape them talking about stroking it and drug induced man love
I just love their chemistry. Louis obviously finds theo very funny and seems to have a fatherly care for him. And Theo obviously finds him funny and holds him in high regard. Easily one of my favorite podcasts from Theo. Hilarious and wholesome combination! :)
You can really tell by some of his reactions that Louis is a big fan of Theo’s. He starts feeding him questions and you can tell he’s eager to hear Theo’s answer.
Louis knows just how to squeeze that extra bit of comedy juice out of Theo’s mad stories. Can Louis please produce Theo’s next special? I think it would really help Theo deliver on his potential
I love this podcast, and I've rewatched multiple times. I love watching Louis C.K. give the affirmation that Theo deserves. Shows how generous Louie is to "upcoming" and great comics.
Having Louie compliment you like this, a guy who already listened to all the jokes in the world 50x, is a life goal! The Rat King getting crowned in front of our eyes! What a time to be alive
29:43 When Louis asks Theo if he had a sexual mentor, and Theo just responds so genuinely “Yeah man, thanks for askin” that smile on Louis’ face is so sweet. Theo has such an authentic way of disarming people.
@@winchester-1877 I saw expressions on Louis' face a bunch of times in this episode I'm not sure I have seen before. Like when he throws his head back in genuine laughter a few times, his face softens.
The advice Louie gives Theo in the end is the most sincere, realest thing. Theo is truly gifted, unique, & a rising star indeed. So excited to see how far you go, Theo. The way you share your thoughts, vulnerabilities & past wounds is really so refreshing. We love you, man.
In terms of story telling, narrative, and entertaining/clever conversation, Louis and Theo are really cut from the same cloth. Their dynamic is on another level and it's cool seeing the angles.
It probably wouldn't have been your first thought, but Theo and Louis together is actually a perfect, magical mix of personalities that you would be hard-pressed to find anywhere else.
I don't think anyone could have foreseen this, Louis said he just saw some of Theos comedy for the first time after booking this podcast lol. Great convo for sure, Louis is always interesting af
The movie isn’t great at all. A neurotic Jewish person. Everybody has problems or addictions, but it’s hard to feel sorry for this typical crybaby. You’ll know what I mean. Think of the red headed Jewish guy that can’t get his hands dirty on Family Guy.
man i havent heard an entire podcast for 1-2 years bc i overdosed on youtube in the lockdowns...but this one hooked me right away..they have the best duo energy ever lol just child hood memories better than loads of netflix specials
Louis C.K.’s ability to empathize other peoples’ childhood trauma has a truly alchemical quality to it. Not only is he willing to go to those dark places, but he always somehow manages to turn it into a spiritual conquest for gold.
He’s surprisingly stupid for his age. It’s pretty embarrassing honestly. Not as embarrassing as the podcast episode Louie did with Yannis Papas, but definitely the second most annoying. Then Bert obviously, but worth it to listen to Louie talk however.
I agree, he says some things that are totally unique and creative. It’s not a matter of intelligence as much as a unique logic and it’s definitely interesting and funny to listen to. A lot of people here are being difficult but they would be hard pressed to beat Theo in some sort of objective “linguistic creativity” or “comedic creativity” competition.
Shane Gillis and Bobby Lee are the only others that come to mind. Shane thought theo was hilarious which makes sense considering his best friend is Matt McKusker
This is one of the greatest podcasts ever recorded, this specific episode. Most of the time people don't know how to respond to Theo's bizarre metaphors and descriptions and they tend to just dismiss him or laugh at the absurdity of what he is saying and move on. Louis however, he seems to understand most of what Theo is saying and he also makes an attempt to understand when he doesn't get it right away. His curiosity and interest in Theo's personality and discussion are refreshing and interesting. I think these two have a very unique chemistry and there might be legs for them to do something creative together.
Lol 5 seconds in and this episode is already amazing. The look on Louis’ face when Theo says “this just made me think of reptiles” you can just tell their dynamic is gonna be gold.
i saw someone else say this, and they were right: these two have such great chemistry because louis is a connoisseur of the absurdities of human beings, and theo is a theater of the absurd. theres really no better way of putting it
i think i can speak for a lot of people still going through a lot of childhood trauma, not being able to forgive your parents, etc. this podcast was great. i needed this. we’re all just hurt kids man
It's definitely tough to forgive others. Much harder to do the same for yourself, which will be the next endeavor. Best of luck, it doesn't get easier next
Remember true forgiving is not selflessness, it's selfish. Its not for them, it's for you. Hatred corrodes the container it's carried in. Only leaving you to suffer.
Louis and Theo just flow on this conversation... The talk about growing up, sexuality, their parents, and their home towns. It's just so real and helpful to hear about them. It's comedy yet personal about them.
Watching Louie's expressions to Theo's thoughts is the best part of the first 5 minutes of this cast. Watch Louie with the sound off when Theo starts talking about putting his hand on the back of someone's neck. SO good.

The thing with Burr is that a notable part of his comedic approach is that super confrontational, dickish side of himself. That is a large part of what propelled his career. When Burr brings this into an interview/podcast that is not prepared for it, it can get awkward. Like that time on this podcast. That side of Burr obviously does not mesh with Theo's style, at least they did not find a middle ground. One the one hand, a show/podcast should service their guest. That is just how things work in entertainment. On the other hand, you'd think Burr would want to pivot when his style isn't working in a certain context.
Bill has taken notes, sort of. He's more of the chill Tom Segura kind of challenge everything now. Mushrooms helped, maybe someday he'll take a flood dose and write the best comedy special of all time.
I've heard every one of Louis CK's interview and podcast appearances countless times and this is right up there with the best. The chemistry and dynamic between him and Theo is so raw and honest and insightful and hilarious. I could listen to 10 hours of this.
Louis' anecdotes about playing clubs again around the 1:47:00 mark and the gratitude and humility and appreciation he shows is so great to hear. The perfect midpoint; doing well without being a monolith, in touch with his real friends and real fans, making his art as he wants to make it... Really great to see.
I love how Louis opens up here and really gets into the nitty gritty with Theo, damn near filling that father role in terms of motivation for him. I just saw Louis in chicago last weekend and he killed and crushed and dominated from front to back. What a solid duo of good dudes.
@@bens4295 bro, it was just painful. Silent laughing too hard for too long. Stomach constricted.. air comes in short bursts.. tears form, and it was just relentless. From a 34 yr 9od woman, i really cannot state enough how much i appreciated the honest and vulnerable discussion about developing male S-uality. I was a victim to CSA and it undoubtedly shaped my view on male Suality. I know that i am not alone in going through a journey of feeling very threatened by male S interest. I am in therapy and working through my issues and have been single 6 years to focus on healing. I am to the point where i think i might be ready to re enter the dating world and i am scared. But i really appreciate the honesty here about men coming from men and i hope i can meet a man ready to be vulnerable like this bc i am. I think a few sprinkles of the compliments that Louis gave Theo actually might trickle into his soul and sense of confidence. What a great ep from two legends. Gang
It’s podcasts like this that are the reason podcasting in general is so popular. Feels so personal and honest like it’s not for an audience at all . Just two fellows interested in each other and getting to know each other.
Podcasts are dead but if you get good people on one then sure it's listenable. I actually hate podcasts get a bunch of rich pretentious douchebags in a room and they all talk fucking nonsense and fake laugh on bad jokes for 3 hours.
100% that’s why podcast are so great. Theo would of got as much out of this (def more) as the listeners. That’s why I love Louie so much, he is real. Gave some real solid advise on this one. Carer, parental trauma, masturbation 😂 Real recognise Real. Gang Gang
Man, just got to it. Wow, eyes full of tears. Any of us need that, happy to see Theo get it. Especially after they had been so vulnerable. Louis is the best
I’ve listen to this many times because it’s so surprisingly soothing. Two of the funniest guys on the planet who somehow have perfectly contrasting senses of humor, with almost total opposite personalities, childhoods, current situations, reactions, responses, perspectives, etc etc.., yet they could not have mingled more seamlessly. They are both incredibly empathetic, and it’s just beautiful to watch CK immediately hone in on Theo’s heightened sensitivity, and subtly adjust his typical demeanor, like he knew Theo could benefit therapeutically to feel understood and appreciated a bit more for even this small amount of time. He was genuinely happy to provide it. He was so invested and interested and amused the entire time. He was almost fatherly here. It brought out the best in him and he fully embraced Theo’s magic. I feel lucky to get to witness such a wholesomely sweet and funny conversation. I love them both now more than ever ❤
I remember once, years back, Theo saying that he thought Louie had a real arrogant vibe about him. But he also said that he didn’t really know the guy and that that was just his impression from seeing him around in comedy clubs. It’s really cool to see him now have Louie on the podcast with an open mind and heart despite a bad first impression. Very inspiring, love you Theo!!
Two comic geniuses, Idk how Bill didn't get it, i think he was too on edge, and didn't realize theo is just saying silly shit to make us laugh not because he really believes it.
i think they both have the "small to average dick energy" to women....we are the ones who cant hold it back and tell the hot women right away how much we like em...it just boils over... thats why there is this amazing , epic vibe between them...best podcast ever plz make movies together
This is brutal honesty including pain, teenage angst, and parental relations/loss. I found it semi shrouded, almost unintentionally, in comedy. Also communicated by two of the best. My I-phone reminds me daily that I consume at minimum 14hrs daily of you tube/podcasts. This has been by far one of the most raw and honest conversations I can remember. Def all for more Louie and Theo. I’ll undoubtedly be saving this one to watch again.
Louis is seriously interested in Theo's mind lmfao. Every time Theo is deep in thought explaining something, Louie is focused and starting to chuckle at what's coming next ahhahaha
He might be one of the best comedians of all time but at the end of the day he’s just like us on the edge of his seat waiting to see what Theo will say 😂

I love that you can tell Louis really respects Theo. Dropping all kinds of wisdom on him. I hope this friendship leads to bigger things for Theo.

Louie trying to figure out wtf Theo is talking about with each story Theo tells is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. Not all guests really dissect his stories or ask questions and it’s so awesome to see Louie’s interest. You can tell they are both great listeners as well as great speakers.
Lol the way he looks at Theo when he says something crazy is hilarious
YES! A perfect example is at 51:05 when Louis randomly picks-up on the fact that Theo referred to _himself_ as ‘us’, so Louis asks why he does that. Then Theo drops this gem:
“it was just me , but I say ‘us’ so I don’t feel alone, I think. I do that a lot.“
*Louis* : “ 🤣 😂 😆 (slaps knee) sure! that makes sense”
Agree
I agree with what you are saying. And Louis is a bit older than Theo, he has more life experiences, so in a way he seems to be mentoring Theo. Louis is not competitive like some guys. Hopefully, he can teach Theo how not to do stupid things that could ruin your high rank in the comedy world.

The chemistry between these two is unbelievable. Such a sweet, charming, insightful conversation. Loved every second of it.
Lol 5 seconds in and this episode is already amazing. The look on Louis’ face when Theo says “this just made me think of reptiles” you can just tell their dynamic is gonna be gold.
A minute in and he can't look in his eye or face and he acts like he's scared C.K. is going you J*rk øff on him... Like wtf...?!
You're definitely bad at reading body language. You're the type who gets abducted first by aliens or the cartel...
Same with here 29:43 amazing
@@mjmcg73 bruh 😂 you can tell Louis is absolutely fascinated with theo
Art is a process ... Ain't it grand?!
More toward the end of the episode. Two of my Favs
This is unlike any other of these podcasts that I've seen Theo do. It's like watching Harry Potter talk to Dumbledore.
That is an absolute beautiful comparison and very accurate!
👍💯
More like Harry Pothead x)
😂😂😂😂😂❤
i saw someone else say this, and they were right: these two have such great chemistry because louis is a connoisseur of the absurdities of human beings, and theo is a theater of the absurd. theres really no better way of putting it
i think i can speak for a lot of people still going through a lot of childhood trauma, not being able to forgive your parents, etc. this podcast was great. i needed this. we’re all just hurt kids man
It's definitely tough to forgive others. Much harder to do the same for yourself, which will be the next endeavor. Best of luck, it doesn't get easier next
Remember true forgiving is not selflessness, it's selfish. Its not for them, it's for you.
Hatred corrodes the container it's carried in. Only leaving you to suffer.
speak for yourself
Yup, it's just a matter of "how hurt"
Ouch papaw, take it out I have to poop
Louis and Theo just flow on this conversation... The talk about growing up, sexuality, their parents, and their home towns. It's just so real and helpful to hear about them. It's comedy yet personal about them.
Watching Louie's expressions to Theo's thoughts is the best part of the first 5 minutes of this cast. Watch Louie with the sound off when Theo starts talking about putting his hand on the back of someone's neck. SO good.
Gonna have to watch that again, haha
@@jaime7203 It's hilarious! Louie's hand motions, following Theo's thoughts, and then going into the hallway hug....I've rewatched the first 10 so many times.
@4:49
had exactly the same reaction
@@lynno1974i was so lost when Theo mentioning putting his hand around the back of people's necks to reassure them lol.
I kept thinking it was going to turn into an S&M confession
damn bro youve got to have him back soon, hes so kind and decent to listen to, never any sense of being anxious because he'll put you to ease
I'm 30 minutes in & this is by far the best podcast I've heard Louis on since he came back. Theo just GETS IT. He's always so sincere & open & makes others comfortable enough to open up as well. This pod saved my day, it's been a rough one. #GangGang!
What an incredibly sincere conversation. I admire their emotional maturity and articulation.
So cool to see Louis lean into Theos bits and stories rather than just killing them with logic, Burr needs to take notes. This is improv gold 🙌🏼
Also maybe Louie prepared and listened to his albums and got Theo’s style of humor and ol’ Billy red sacks just tried to wing it and didn’t get it
Bill has taken notes, sort of. He's more of the chill Tom Segura kind of challenge everything now. Mushrooms helped, maybe someday he'll take a flood dose and write the best comedy special of all time.
It's the fear that killed it, Bill had a sort of spiritual initiation with Tyson though. I'm glad too, hes a great writer.
Great conversation ! Interesting.
This was truly one of the best podcasts ever!Their conversation on fathers and figuring things out is just incredible.
I've heard every one of Louis CK's interview and podcast appearances countless times and this is right up there with the best. The chemistry and dynamic between him and Theo is so raw and honest and insightful and hilarious. I could listen to 10 hours of this.
It’s so dam boring!!!
Nothing tops the O&A appearances

I don't know dude, did you listen to that one where he's asking Donald Rumsfeld repeatedly if he's a lizard?
Louis' anecdotes about playing clubs again around the 1:47:00 mark and the gratitude and humility and appreciation he shows is so great to hear. The perfect midpoint; doing well without being a monolith, in touch with his real friends and real fans, making his art as he wants to make it... Really great to see.
I love how Louis opens up here and really gets into the nitty gritty with Theo, damn near filling that father role in terms of motivation for him. I just saw Louis in chicago last weekend and he killed and crushed and dominated from front to back. What a solid duo of good dudes.
Killed, crushed AND dominated?
@@russkiy6ot we were pulverized. Nothing much of us was left after the show.
I saw him in Belfast last year perform in front of a couple hundred. It was surreal. One of the biggest in comedy in a biggish small room.
Anthony Cumia was at that show and talked about it on his show on Compound Media. Said LCK Destroyed.
@@bens4295 bro, it was just painful. Silent laughing too hard for too long. Stomach constricted.. air comes in short bursts.. tears form, and it was just relentless. Seeing Louis CK on stage with a miniature bible and hearing him read specific verses with reading glasses on (not to mention any context) was exactly what I was hoping for. Haven’t heard Cumia speak on it yet, but it was the worst I’ve ever laughed. Truly a legend.
We all have baggage and insecurititea and fears, but i hope we can stop seeing each other as the causes of our pain that was actually caused by our parents. I want to find love and you guys helped me feel some hope that can happen. Sending love to anyone reading and hurting. I truly believe we all need the same things. We've beeb fooled into thinking we're alone in our needs ans desires.
It’s so boring!!!
Carer, parental trauma, masturbation 😂
Real recognise Real.
Gang Gang
The best podcasts are the ones where you feel like you're a part of the conversation, and it all feels very natural
Louie complimenting Theo made me tear up because I know Theo was probably so happy inside hearing such a legend speak highly of him
Man, just got to it.
I've never seen Louie be more comfortable with a younger generation comic like this. I love both these guys, this was epic. Loved it.
Theo is 42 lol
@@venicec3310 Meaning he's an entertainer for a younger gen, not he is a younger gen
If Theo was female Louis would be getting his .... out and asking if he wanted to watch him you know what
@@lucydayLucida zzzzz
@@lucydayLucidahe asks permission. What a gentleman
What clip ? I don’t remember that at all I remember him talking about the scandals and being empathetic of him

@@robertduffin1 damn! Good effort!!
Nothing is better than when a guest comes and totally gets theos vibe.
Two comic geniuses, Idk how Bill didn't get it, i think he was too on edge, and didn't realize theo is just saying silly shit to make us laugh not because he really believes it.
Louis giving props and recognizing his fans form him being able to live out his dreams will always be my favorite part of this pod
I have rarely seen someone get so many genuine laughs out of Louis
this is true!
he's so funny men theo is funny genuinely
You’re probably young. Go watch old opie and Anthony clips. You’re welcome.
@@cbrreezzyy69 I’ve listened to a million O & A clips. I stand by my comment.
i think they both have the "small to average dick energy" to women....we are the ones who cant hold it back and tell the hot women right away how much we like em...it just boils over... thats why there is this amazing , epic vibe between them...best podcast ever
plz make movies together
It's so funny to me how genuinely amused and interested Louis is as Theo's telling the story 😄
He might be one of the best comedians of all time but at the end of the day he’s just like us on the edge of his seat waiting to see what Theo will say 😂
Dude ur 17 mins into the video
Fr if you want to help someone understand Theo, let them watch Louie’s expressions
Imagine these two creating movies and tv shows. Louie’s already an absurdist. What does he do with someone as absurd as Theo?
