Millenniumforce Makes Amtrak Train Stop In Plant City Florida

- This is a video I made at the Palmer Street railroad crossing in Plant City Florida. The crossing had an issue with one of its cover shades to one of the signal lights so I called it in to CSX and reported it. Because of the report they gave orders for all trains to stop at the crossing and flare it till it was fixed and the stop order was lifted. I guess you can say that because of my report to CSX about the crossing light being damaged I got Amtrak train the Silver Star number 92 to stop and flare the crossing. No trains stop in Plant City except for this one.
Nice catch! Interesting seeing the inside of a crossing light lit-up without the lens in front of it.
I love seeing your videos of the Silver Star. I used to live near the tracks South of Apex, NC and would watch it pass quite often. Still catch it coming through Southern Pines every once in a while.
I didn't notice that light when I was there a few days ago but I guess they had already fixed it. I wonder how it got broken.
Loose bolts
93 must not have had a bath in a while cause dang
Devon Mo fo real...
Neat to see a heritage painted viewliner sleeper car.

Good catch Alan, always better safe than sorry!!!
I'm glad the crossing itself was working.
first time i have ever seen that good catch
+Millenniumforce *Looks as though Amtrak has the procedure down to a science* - Conductor sends a brakeman ahead to ignite and place two fusees where the second pair of gates would be at a no-horn grade crossing; he remounts once the locomotive is across. How long afterwards did the CSX MoW truck arrive to replace the signal's broken latch?
A few hours.
Good of you to report the fallen mee-mool light *(o)T(o)* cover. I would have put back on, myself, (tighten the bolt by hand) and signal maintainer called to tighten it secure.
Ridiculous to stop a train for that when there are gates and the other *(o)T(o)* . Plus they waste fusees?
Joe Dohn Mee-mool lights *(o)T(o)* have a nearly perfect record! They fail safe. The system of train detection and signals runs on 10-Volt storage batteries.
But I would not have stopped a train because a lamp housing hinged down. The incandescent bulb was still operating. (I have the same *(o)T(o)* for my Operation Lifesaver classes. One bolt is above the visor.)
Would they stop a train just because one light bulb of 11 facing each direction was burned out?
And then the railretard wastes two fusees as if lowered gates were not enough.
I'm glad you called in, but I think it's weird that they stopped the train completely just for a light cover.
*sees the amtrak train stop on level crossing* hmm seems like a re-painted engine. *train passes by* Nevermind, it's clean on the cab section, but the not back section..weird
There has been 2 train wrecks in 2 days in Ashland
Where are you at?
I knew one of them, but what about the other one?
There's not a lot of info on the 2nd one but it was at the same intersection
interesting. but very cool. learned something new.
I Love Your Vids!
I dont think you really needed to repot it to csx and have the train stop but still sweet video!
They are the ones that made the train stop. I just told them that one of the covers was hanging. It was stupid of them to stop the train just for that.
Excellent video. Thank you for being conscientious. But if it was me, I wouldn't have got involved -- in America, there's a good chance that they would have called the police and charged you with vandalizing the signal in the first place.
CSX and the town police plus the mayor and commissioner know me so never going to be a problem for me.
The worker said the bolts were loose and needed to be put back on and tightened
Twice I have called the UP emergency number for crossing arms staying down and a car with a broken flange. I could hear the car with the broken flange coming as it sounded like someone repeatedly pounding on an anvil. It was loud.
Nice collection of videos! I subscribed.
Nice try Alan, did you put the light cover back on again before you went home?
Train museum workers witnessed I had nothing to do with it except calling it in.
LOL.
Charles Damery Your the reason why we can't have nice things. Stop being a troll
Nice Catch! At 5:33-5:37 what in the world? lol
Great video and very good catch!!
You got the power! ;-)
Oh cmon the gates wee fine and so did the lights facing the traffic. There was no need to delay the train becasue ONE lens cover fell off. Yes thats good that you reported it and maybe you didnt tell them to stop. What im saying is Amtrak or CSX im guessing that owns that track was silly to do this. Cool but not cool for the people on board.
It's a safety rule from CSX for when a train is approaching a crossing that was reported/flagged for any issue.
what happened to the crossing light and why did you stop the amtrak train are you a magician
it stopped because when I called it in CSX gave the orders for all trains to stop till it was fixed.
Alan, Great video, it's great to see something new on the railroad that isn't common. Do you know if CSX is going to repair the diamond at Plant City because they have some rail there that looks like it's for the diamond?
Luke
Already done a few days ago. they also raised the diamond so there won't be a slump in the middle.
Cool, does that mean Amtrak can Highball through Plant City like they used to?
when the speed restriction is lifted next week it will be back to 40 mph
Great.
Awesome video!
Can't Wait
did someone knock the cover shade off?
The worker said the bolts were loose and needed to be put back on and tightened
Video starts at 0:38
you made the train stop. ha ha... now call Tampa police to tell them how many traffic lights are out.
It had to be called in because if it fell it could have hit someone in the head which could cause injury because its over the sidewalk CSX made a big deal out of it and gave stop orders because of it.
Did they keep the lights on that gate pole or replace it?
LOL
They replaced the bolts that held the cover up
Nice!
Amtrak... unpredictable as always.
Malfunction at 5:40 lol
I meant 5:33
The Railfan I have never seen a railroad crossing malfunctioning
congratulations
don't worry....we know what really happened.... your secret is save with us 😉
TRAIN GO BRRRRR
nice !
what were those red flame balls he put on the road?
BrickMasterB06 its a road flare
I may just be stupid, but I don't get the flare thing. Could someone please explain that to me?
The flares are used to warn/signal drivers to watch for trains during emergencies. This situation wasn't really an emergency... I've only seen flares when the crossing signals malfunction, like for example, when they won't turn on.
In Soviet Russia, train stops for you.
All that for a silly lens??
It's a safety procedure when a crossing was reported/flagged for any issue on the crossing until the issue is fixed.
A train stopped just for a light cover fell down, what an idiot for doing that as there was lots of other red lights showing.
Fred 900 from what I understand the train crew was ordered to do this by the owner of the tracks, which I assume is CSX.
Fred 900 the question is...why not!? And don't call him an idiot for doing that. There is a number on all the crossings or most to call CSX if there is a problem with the crossing and there was. He did what he was supposed to do. I hate when ignorant people just comment any random thing when there is clearly a problem
your the idiot
Thanks Captain Justice.
Millenniumforce No problem :-P
At least while it was there ya could've finished washing that filthy engine..
you delayed an Amtrak... 😒
that engine is dirty
it was totally unnecessary to make the train stop for that. you probably made a huge deal about it and said the train would derail
I thought so to but I hate when people assume that I did something to cause the train to stop. So much drama
Still technically a malfunctioning crossing, tgey probably could of gotten sued to death if something happened.
SIXTEENTH
do a video where stupid orange is under a railgrinder
Why on Earth would you upload this clickbait on UA-cam? That's an bad example to children even if they read the description.
There was no need to stop an entire train, just for that. It could've been flagged. The light could've have been fixed, after the train had gone thru. After all, the light was working and flashing. I could c if the crossing wasn't activated, at all.
BYRON HANDY milleniumforce called in about the broken light cover, after that it was up to CSX to say what to do, and they told the train to stop, something is telling me federal regulations
Exactly right. Thank you Justin Noker.
You are right. I thought it was stupid for the train to stop because of a light lens but they did. CSX rules. And it took them a few hours to get there but the worker that fixed it said that the bolts shook lose. It is common after the trains go by and the gate to go up vibrate the pole. I thought to myself vibrate the pole but they are bolts they shouldn't come lose. Unless they are old and break off.from being rusty.
Millenniumforce no problem
