Great video Alan! When I moved from MI to FL in 2002, I took the Auto Train. Great experience, service and no delays. People blame Amtrak all the time, but in my opinion, 98% of the delays are caused by the owner of the track, in this case CSX. You should try MI services like The Wolverine or Blue Water. Fastest ones outside the Northeast corridor. 110 mph. Now that I am back in MI, I love taking the train to Chicago. If you ever come this way, let me know :) Hope you can ride on Acela when you go to the Northeast. I am sorry about your lost. Take care
Millenniumforce We'll find out tomorrow morning! Hopefully me and Tommy will be the first ones to watch it when it comes out at 12:00, as we usually do every weekend morning! Yes, I know, me and Tommy seem like very good best friends, thank you! :-P
NIce video, sorry about your troubles. 4 hours late wasn't fun , but you can chalk that up to CSX most likely. Sounds like the train was packed and they rushed everyone through dinner. Give it a try again. That is a very busy train. Thanks for posting, enjoy your videos.
When i went on The Southwest Chief #4 to Chicago, we were really late, like 6-7 hours into Chicago and 2 hours out of LA. But you know if your train is late, it means you get to see more scenery during the daytime. If #4 was late like 4 hours, i can see most of Kanas during daylight and most of Arizona too!!! Late trains = more fun!
Sorry to hear you had a bad trip on the Auto Train..Some of my friends did a north bound trip last winter and had good experience. The equipment looked okay perhaps the lateness was due to CSX? Yes the kids should've been under controL Hope you filed complaint anyhow you got home safely.I followed all of your tour, as usual you did a fine job. Looking forward to more of your videos. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome Video Alan! I'm so sorry you had such a crappy trip home. And i'm really sorry about Fluffy. I feel the same thing you're feeling because i to lost my cat. I cried at the end of this. It was a good tribute video.
This is a very AWESOME video of the auto track and I’m sorry that you have to go through hell, it will be okay I’m here for you Millenniumforce wanna be best friends we all love you Alan Smith!!!
Hi. This is Tomas from Denmark,Skandinavia. Just to say,I think you are doing a verry good job in making these videos. I really enjoy whatcing them. :-) Best regards, Tomas.
Alan, I never rode on the Auto Train, living now in the Mid West, we don't have it here yet, doubt if we ever will, it did sound like a nice trip for you, sorry to hear this. I've ridden on Amtraks out of Los Angeles, and Seattle, and never had a problem. Next ask for the Handicapped Car, no children, no noise, and the Carman will bring your meals if you would like. Sorry your trip was not that good. You ought to write to Amtrak and complain, maybe they'll send your free RT tickets for your next time travelling, Larry :o)
Sorry to hear that your trip home wasn't as expected, I was just at the auto train station a couple hours ago, just getting pictures of the disassembled train, interesting stuff.
Great Video! Sorry to hear how it was a disaster for you onboard the Auto Train. Also i cant wait for the next tour! And Finally sorry to hear that fluffy died :(
Rip fluffy and to your cat too. My previous cat when I was five years old died after being run over by a car. She was black and white with the Pink nose. She was out rambling as usual. Very sadly missed then. Other cats filled the gap.
There are actually two sets of auto trains cars plus extras for maintenance and repairs. Note the passengers cars are relatively new as are the car carrying cars as well. Never rode the auto train but used to work for Amtrak as an engineer. The longest auto train runways the original auto train which so I'm told it was a total of 74 cars which was over a mile in length. That was old " heritage " equipment with four GE U36B locomotive's. And that was when each car generated its own power and steam provided heat and air conditioning on some cars from a steam generator car.
Sorry about that first auto train experience I'd be upset as well if I had that happen. And I'm sorry about your cat. Hopefully you had a better autotrain experience since then.
4-hour delay. I was wondering why the train wasn't in Lorton when you began filming. Also, no linen on the tables in the diner and the portions looked mighty small. The last time I rode (2011) we were delayed an hour in Fla due to a field fire - of course during dinner and we just sat there - no fun!!
Do you have a twitter or facebook thats tied to your UA-cam account? You should get one so we can all share some of our train catches with you as well!
Oh god, so sorry to hear how bad your return trip on the Auto Train went. Should've gotten a sleeper accommodation, that's what me and my parents did back in 2006....
CSX® must have enlarged some tunnels, and replaced others outright, to accommodate the Amtrak® Pullman® Superliner™ varnish this train - not all routes east of the Mississippi can use Superliners. I presume the same route restrictions apply to AutoTrains, which use tall double-deck cars similar to those used for delivering new automobiles to dealerships on freight runs?
It's that time of year for Tails again, That's right! All-Nighter Time! He decides to be online overnight, On GTA 5 Online, He gets his way before driving any vehicle. He has 35 all-nighters online. So he plugs in the TV and then the Xbox One X console and turns them on. Angela takes the sleeper as she moves back to Florida with Martha-Marie and reads ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income. Thank goodness her 10-foot U-Haul and Vehicle on a dolly fit better. Tails stops his session during dinner and breakfast. Sonic never noticed Tails playing and went online to play. Tails had a video game addiction so he was hospitalized for 5 hours just 2 hours after the ride. Every time he lands on someone while driving, he says: "Look out below!" before crashing on any player. At Folkston, he decided to be chased by the police car, driven by Sultz Z. Wolf, another All-Nighter. At the end of the trip to Florida via the Auto Train. He puts his console, controller, headset, and games in the bag and sets his TV aside to de-train. Sonic and Alyssa were helping Tails with the TV as they de-trained. Tails got his carry-on, Gucci Bag, Duffel Bag and backpack. Their bus from Discovery Academy of Lake Alfred arrived to take them to Discovery Academy, in which the Charter Bus will be there to take them to the hotel. Angela and Martha-Marie received their U-Haul and Vehicle on the dolly and drove to the new house. She has everything even her dolly to haul things in the new house. Angela was so happy she came into the new house with her Roommate, Martha-Marie, The End.
Only 4 hours? Thats on time for Amtrak based on my experience, we was 12 hours late into Chicago from Washington, 6 hours late into Fort Worth from Chicago (well 30 hours as I had to get the next days train) and at the end of my trip Chicago to Boston another 5 hours. Always the fault of the freight co.s it seemed
WAIT, WAS FLUFFY THE SAME CAT IN THAT "CAT IN HEAT GOES CRAZY" VIDEO??? NO! I LOVED THAT CAT!!! Oh well, she lived a good 10-11 years, that's pretty nice for a cat. My cat Tabby died back in 2008, and she was only like 6 or 7 years old! :-\
It kinda sucks for your first experience... I've rode the Auto Train twice a year for the last 7 years... I've only had one bad experience and that was when the train was an hour late last year... Here's a tip for you: Book lower level seating in advance! Ask for it! It's so much better than upper level! A lot quieter.
No that's Cali she is on my bed. Fluffy was in my Avon Lady Goes Crazy episode 3 and 5 Cali was in Avon lady Goes Crazy episode 2 and Cat In Heat Goes Crazy
So this is how the old farts get to Florida. Well I get it beats falling asleep at the wheel and staying at an over priced motel and those damn highway tolls. Alan also get to ride the train, just like a kid in a candy store. Happy, Happy Joy, Joy! I didn't know you lost your pet, so sorry, unfortunately been there, done that, it really sucks.
Hey Millenniumforce have you travel with them lately and if you have how has your experience been since, I'm moving to Coral Springs FL from Clifton NJ in May and wouldn't like to drive all those miles by myself, the train was a plus for me but after your video, now I'm thinking about it.
+Richal Mata It is just so much cheaper to go by car and stop on the way down to enjoy the sites but from New Jersey I take the Cape May ferry then the Chesepeake Bay Bridge tunnel on hwy 13 to 58 then to 95 in Emporia Virginia
Yes. it's not cheap but nothing is these days. I took my late wife to Lornton 5 years ago and we had a sleeper... was a great trip and the train arrived at lorton over an hour early.. no one was there to open up the station. what a comedy that was
She had a intestinal problem that they said she would need surgery which would cost over a thousand dollars which I did not have. She has had loose stools a lot. THE DOWNEASTER AMTRAK Does NOT GO ALL AROUND THE UNiTED STATES it ONLY GOES THROUGH BOSTON MA AND OTHER TOWNS iN MASSACHUSETTS AND ALSO NEW HAMPSHiRE AND MAiNE
This video brings back memories as kid watching it and seeing lorton Virginia, was exciting for me this year.

PERFECT end for the Millenniumforce tour and the last day of May, I can't wait for your new intro tomorrow! I wonder what it will be!
It will be a bit different.
Millenniumforce We'll find out tomorrow morning! Hopefully me and Tommy will be the first ones to watch it when it comes out at 12:00, as we usually do every weekend morning! Yes, I know, me and Tommy seem like very good best friends, thank you! :-P
Andres Carrillo But you are very best friends That's great. And thank you for being my fans. You 2 are the best
Thanks Alan! I appreciate that VERY much! ;-D
NIce video, sorry about your troubles. 4 hours late wasn't fun , but you can chalk that up to CSX most likely. Sounds like the train was packed and they rushed everyone through dinner. Give it a try again. That is a very busy train. Thanks for posting, enjoy your videos.
I'm very sorry about the loss of your cat:( Thank you for sharing this video with us and doing this tour!

@@Millenniumforcehi
Very sorry for your loss! Btw it would be cool if the dash 8 lead the train!
You had a lovely cat there. Son and I have a ginger cat just like yours. Cuddly and cute.
Awesome tour! You should visit Grand Central Terminal in NY next tour. Metro-North is the main railway there. Also sorry about your cat.

Alan, I'm sorry your trip ended on such a sour note. My condolences on the loss of your cat Fluffy. I miss my long-haired gray cat everyday.

Dear Alan, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your animal companion.

Great Video! Sorry to hear how it was a disaster for you onboard the Auto Train. Also i cant wait for the next tour! And Finally sorry to hear that fluffy died :(
Thanks Tommy
Alan, the mid trip break in SC is usually in the middle of the night when most people are sleeping.
Alan love your videos and one time I was on. Amtrak I took one of there plates and was upset about it but I use that plate every day
My son watched this video in his bed and he said it corresponded to this video because it is comfy in the train and in his bed he said. Agree?
So it was like he was there riding on the train too so that's why
Awesome video!
I saw the Amtrak auto train bypassing the Debary Sunrail station OMG in was so cool
Awesome video Alan! Its cool to watch how this train is loaded and unloaded. Also, sorry that your pet fluffy passed away before you got back.
Thank you
Nice video Alan! Very interesting! I'm sorry your trip didn't go as expected, and about your cat =(
Thank you
Rip fluffy and to your cat too. My previous cat when I was five years old died after being run over by a car. She was black and white with the Pink nose. She was out rambling as usual. Very sadly missed then. Other cats filled the gap.

I was on that train a few months back.
Question are you going to do a midwest tour?
cross country tour but not until next May
Millenniumforce cool if you come through nebraska in june of next year you might be able to see up 844
(a steam locomotive)
12:10 I went through this area on the way down to Orlando many years ago

I'm sorry for your loss
Oh god, so sorry to hear how bad your return trip on the Auto Train went. Should've gotten a sleeper accommodation, that's what me and my parents did back in 2006....
Going to be on that same train October 27th
Sorry your Autotrain trip didn't go so well, and sorry about your cat. Anyways, if you go to Milwaukee, you should take the Hiawatha to Chicago.
My favorite amtrak train is the auto train
a sad loss indeed...
I drove to Florida and took the auto train to Lorton Virginia and then drove back to Pennsylvania. It was my first time riding Amtrak.

west of the mississippi river, i m sure union pacific would have done the same
Sorry for Fluffy Mr. Smith, I understand your concern, I lost also my siamese cat after 17 years of great affection!
Thank you I have 3 cats left. Colors age 16 Cali daughter of Colors age 7 and Kitty daughter of Colors age 2
I am very happy for you, i wish you keep them for many long years, I guess they are part of the family! Have a good time, I love your videos.

Millenniumforce Oh, okay, never mind then!
Andres Carrillo my cat was 15 when she died this was last year
bclr railfan Sad to hear, cats usually live up to 16 anyways.
Andres Carrillo when she died I cried for about 8 hrs it was so sad don't worry Alan many of us feel the same way when our pets die so your not alone

Millenniumforce nice rail fan
Cool Dash 8! at 1:45
I know right
Just to ask, who recorded at 9:50. Was it you, or did someone else do it? Nice catch on the CSX and the first Amtrak train shown arriving.
A Friend of mine then sent it to me

Millenniumforce I've got cats of my own, I don't what I'd do if I lost one. but guess that's the way you think with PTSD.
Charles Damery Hello Charles Just like the comedian George Karlin once said. You get a pet and then one day they pass away. Unless you buy a turtle
Hey Millenniumforce have you travel with them lately and if you have how has your experience been since, I'm moving to Coral Springs FL from Clifton NJ in May and wouldn't like to drive all those miles by myself, the train was a plus for me but after your video, now I'm thinking about it.

Could you come to dallas/ft. Worth tx someday?
BTW Sorry to hear about Fluffy. RIP !!!
I'm sorry for your lost
The Amtrak Auto Train clickety clacked slowly into the Station ringing its bell and gently applying its brakes
Also when I went on the lake shore limited it was 30 minutes early
Sorry you had such a bad experience on your first autotrain ride.. Did you ride coach or a sleeper?
+Eugene Kipp (Distant Origin) rode coach sleeper was to expensive
Yes. it's not cheap but nothing is these days. I took my late wife to Lornton 5 years ago and we had a sleeper... was a great trip and the train arrived at lorton over an hour early.. no one was there to open up the station. what a comedy that was
+Eugene Kipp (Distant Origin) They should have the workers on call if the train is to arrive early. That's what I would do.
Agreed, but this day and age... no one takes work serious..
I live in Kingsland GA.. 20 miles east of the Folkson Funnel.. Wife and I used to trainwatch or railfan regularly there.
oh O.K. thanks for telling me
not a road trip but a track trip
Did the Auto Train stop in Florence, SC for maintenance?
They always stop there for engineer crew change and to fuel up
Millenniumforce It stops really early for that, correct?
Sorry for the loss of Fluffy and for such a bad experience on Auto Train.
Its so sad i want to met u somewhere
Alan how did u film the Auto Train at 9:39 Did u edit the video?
yes I did
+Millenniumforce That's some Good Editing for Entertainment!

I'm REALLY sorry about Fluffy, my friend's cat, Charlie died a few weeks ago.
Northeast Corridor?
hey alan i heard about your cat how did she/he die very like the csx and amtrack train in the begining
She had some kind of problem the vets couldn't find. Losing weight and loose stools.
I never knew you had cats
I'm sorry for your loss. May I ask how fluffy died?
She had a intestinal problem that they said she would need surgery which would cost over a thousand dollars which I did not have. She has had loose stools a lot.
When I came home from my first tour she died 1 day before I got home and my friends placed her in a bag so I could bury her. She was 10 years old
Okay
I'm sorry about fluffy, what are you going to do with the babies?
Late Late Late! Typical Amtrak. I don't think I've ever rode Amtrak or Illinois Central when it wasn't late.
My cat just passed away too.
