Watch a full tutorial as a 2006 Ford F350 will have a Sony touch screen double din radio installed. We will be using the Sony XAV-AX100 which features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. We also will be retaining the factory steering wheel volume control buttons.
This video applies to Ford F250, F350, F450 and up models for years 2005, 2006 and 2007. NOTE: this model was not equipped with the factory amplified sound system, and in 2005, Ford changed the dash and harness design which we will link those different parts down in the description. This video also includes radio removal, wiring, installation, and testing.

This is a true professional installation I would hire you if you lived in Texas
Video was super helpful for me to figure out all the SWC related wiring, thanks! With the dual USB port instead of the cigarette lighter, how did you wire the plug that was just for charging?
Thanks for the video
Good job
I’m having fits getting a couple of the connectors unhooked, in particular the headlight switch. Any tips/tools that could help?
Any mods to the dash, the first time ?
I know this video was a while ago but I have a 2005 f250 I’m installing the same radio and everything works but I’m getting no sound have any answers?
Full dashboard kit to match this?
The radio link in the description is different. Are the dimensions still the same ? Will it’s fit with dash kit.
Thanks. Video is awesome I’m do this my self!
Any standard double din regardless of screen size.
Why install a radio with fewer features?
The link isn't working for the double din
Where did you get that power point dual USBs? Also what steering wheel cover is that? Thank you
All parts used in description. This wasn't a personal vehicle, so unknown about steering wheel cover.
Does the harness for the steering wheel controls come with the radio, steering wheel control adapter, or sold separately? I clicked on your link above for the adapter and it doesn't say that is comes with the harness neither does the radio. I'm looking at getting the Sony xav-ax5000 radio. Thank
The steering wheel control adapter is sold separately: amzn.to/3A8eAMa or you can use this pac one here: amzn.to/3AStI12
The ford harness adapter is sold separately, along with the separate steering wheel control module. All linked separately in the video as nothing will be sold together.
quick question I'm instlling a Pioneer dmh-w4660nex and it has a car speed signal input wire (pink) where does it go to on a 2005 F250 lariat? thanks in advance the video helped alot.
If you update the newest software on your pioneer, you shouldn't need to hook up the VSS wire on the radio. If not you will need to research where the VSS wire is on your Ford.
Thanks for a great video!! My stereo turns on but has no sound at all, sometimes static… I tested the speakers and they work fine, any suggestions? It’s a 2005 f350 with an alpine stereo
Sounds like you may have the wrong harness adapter, or something isn't wired right. Send us a message on facebook / instagram and we can try and help.
How to tell if you need the factory amplifier harness or not?@@ProvoBeastAudio
@@chrstofuchaos If you have the factory subwoofer under the rear seat, then you have the OEM amplifier. IF not, the alternative harness linked is what is needed.
can't find this unit anywhere, I just don't know what would be the cheapest option that'll fit right in, even if it's amazon but want some good sound quality, any recomendations?
Yes, lots of recommendations. Here is a great optionamzn.to/3EnIwag:
I already have an older aftermarket head unit in my truck and my steering wheel controls work. Does this mean I already have a Maestro or similar unit or will I still need that too?
Yes, but depends if it’s truly universal for any radio. Pull the radio and find out
I have a 2007 ford f250 and a Pioneer 8100nex. When you press volume up button on the steering wheel the volume goes down not up, if I disconnect batteries and reconnect them the volume button on steering wheel works correctly with the radio, then after a week starts malfunctioning again. Any idea what the problem is?
Good question, try re-flashing the module and give it another shot.
@@ProvoBeastAudio How do you re-flash a module and where is it?
The radio in my sport trac is not working. How do I know if it's the radio or the wires? Just bought the truck and it was not working to begin with.
I'd start by checking the fuse before you pull the radio.
I have a pioneer double din in my truck now i want to switch to a jvc double din is it the same wiring ?
It won't be plug and play, no, as each brand uses their own harness plug. You will have to cut the harness and re wire in the new radio's harness plug, proprietary to that radio.
