Great work on the videos and channel. Monitoring and Oil, coolant, and trans filtration on a 6.0 are critical. They can get a bad rap, but they're damn solid if a guy corrects a few stock weaknesses and maintains them well. The 6.0 is a 500,000 mile motor all day long if it's taken care of/
    - As a side note, the guys at FICMRepair are damn solid resources for any 6.0 owner. They sell pretty much any part a guy could need and the customer service is stellar. They help guys all the time with troubleshooting, OE and aftermarket parts selection, etc. - Plus, if you're going to own/drive a 6.0, the FICM tunes they sell wake the beasts up very nicely. Best of all, they help with fuel mileage!

Yea my Cummins only makes 600+ hp and I’ve never blown anything and it doesn’t have any “stock weaknesses.” Funny enough I’d never buy a pickup truck with “stock weaknesses” as serious as the 6.0-6.4 Ford motors. Hellll no.. and I get 23 mpg.

6 liters aren’t really bulletproof unless your oil cooler is relocated externally, without that the truck just has head studs IMO and of course EGR delete would be a part of that. Red ELC coolant, blue spring upgrade, straight pipe, nasty tune and they run forever. If you’re running stock tune on your ficm I’d look into the atlas 40 if you tow a lot

Yes definitely take advice from this dude over Deboss… I hope this dude is trolling. You can’t tell if a 6.0 is good by just looking it over. You can literally get a no start from a bad o-ring… if you want one just accept the fact that you’ll need to pull the cab, tear down the engine, replace everything that is a common issue which is… well everything.. and put it back together just to probably have an issue anyway. So yeah his 6.0 might be okay at the moment, but I guarantee it won’t be like that for long. Can’t even trust the studded ones because there aren’t enough studs per cylinder. Just buy a Cummins.

My experience is that with proper maintenance of known issues the trucks are great. First raise fuel pressure with blue springs. Second flush oil cooler every 2 to 3 years. Third keep the oil clean and leave the damn thing alone!!!! No custom tuning larger turbos or rolling coal. The guys with the stretched head bolts, blown head gaskets and starting problems did it to themselves. Leave the damn thing alone because surprise; you aren't an engineer.

The oil doesnt need to be changed every 3000 miles, 6000 is even kindve a stretch especially if youre running additives like hotshot secret, oil cooler is a common issue, bulletproof egr is a good permanent fix, or delete and a tune, all the fuel side bs is a problem including oil rails, headstuds with oring’d heads are a big plus. 6.4 rockers are another plus.
6.0 definitely isnt the best diesel by any stretch but when they run great they are nice.

Imo, 6.0s aren't a good first truck. Yes, they can be really reliable, after they've gotten the works done. That also takes cash. Don't get me wrong, I love my 6.0, but a 12 valve or 7.3 is a good starter. If you're mechanically inclined and feel like you're able to do head gaskets and head studs, then a 6.0 is a good candidate.
