I find it kinda funny that on a trailer for a game that brought you mind-bending geometry, changing texture on a ball is a selling point.
Right?! I found it almost disruptive. Great work anyways of course!
Well, the ball has to be 4 dimensional too…
I'm most surprised that I immediately have a favorite that I'm hyped for.

@@minerharry But... is the ball a 4D hyperball though? I'm a little curious at how the barrier moves further away in the forward direction without being a barrier to a 4D ball. Even though we can't see it in the current 3D slice the barrier would still be present off in 4D? So how would a 4D ball get past the 4D barrier that we can't see but is still there?
Even with a level editor? What a Chad. Big Kudos and congratulations to having an upcoming release!
I'd still be extremely stoked without a level editor, but it's just the icing on the cake!

@@PunmasterSTP not only it will be but i think that if enough players hop on then not only new players whould have a new mind melting experience, but older players will have the joy of making maps for a long time

Hyperbolic 4D golf with realistic black holes
This trailer made me realize the view where the ball suddenly looks like it's in zero-gravity in a 3d course is because that's the equivalent of a top-down perspective in 2d. We're not seeing the effects of gravity on the ball because the direction of gravity is now the direction we're looking at it from.

@@scoutgaming737 The gravity is pulling in only one dimension (like in most golf games), but in this game that leaves THREE dimensions unaffected by gravity. (Of course, diagonal walls complicate that. Slopes can make a ball move west even though gravity is only pulling down.)

If there’s an in game community level browser and multiplayer this will be the absolute best golf game
On the Steam page it says PvP split screen. So no Online Multiplayer (at the moment)

In the 1920s Lovecraft wrote about the nightmarish hellscapes of noneuclidean geometries.
2020s: So, yeah, we now have 4D Golf.
Lovecraft also thought race-mixing was nightmarish so maybe he just had a skill issue

Oh I wished this had multiplayer. This just seems like it would be a fun mind-bending experience to share with a friend.
It should be possible with Steam Remote Play, but I'll try to get a proper multiplayer server eventually.

Man. I waited YEARS for Miegakure to come out. And you just DID it in what feels like a year at most. I'm speechless.
I've lost count of how many times I watched this trailer. This is completely insane! I can't possibly understand the amount of effort it took to create a 4D engine with a completely functional (and somewhat intuitive, as far as 4D can be) level editor! I NEED it!

4D Miner already triggers every mental affliction in my brain, and you expect me to be able to *golf?*

So I had an interesting idea for this.
Let's say this was in VR.
You essentially have two images, one for each eye.
You could have one extremity of the dimension in one eye, and the other extremity in the other eye.
Then you would have where you are in between those extremities in both eyes.
Provided you blur the parts that are not in both eyes, you could have an incredibly solid way of easily representing both extremities at once for an audience who can use stereoscopy.
I've tried that. Your eyes are unable to focus using this method unfortunately. Our brains developed stereoscopy for things that are horizontally offset. The images you get using a w-offset are just too disjoint and don't give you any real intuition. But maybe if you trained on it for a long time it could work, much like wearing upside-down glasses if you know what I'm talking about...
it is absolutely insane, i literally discovered your game hyperbolica through a random gameplay in my youtube home page WEEK ago, them forgot about it and then got your video on spherical geometry, then you trailer to hyperbolica and then saw your ~2 year old video of 4D dimensional game idea, had fun thinking "oh this is extremely hard to make, imagine if the dude actuallt finished it already" and then i go to your channel and BOOM i see with my own eyes THIS TRAILER OF 4D GOLFFFF omg this is isnane, so beautiful and i am so happy to live to see it, it is a spectacular job [: 🔥🔥🔥

Surprisingly I already had it on mine before this trailer lmao... I'm so ready.
This final version looks not only amazing but also more mind-bending than any other 4-dimensional simulation i've seen in the past
But going so far as a 4-dimensional _level editor_ is beyond amazing
I’m assuming you’re new here and haven’t been following along with his devlogs. The level editor was actually originally something he made so that he could make the official levels more easily. He made a tool to make the game with and will be giving it to us :)

I still think 4D toybox makes it easier to wrap you mind around 4D. But now this looks like a proper sneak peek into an actual 4D environment.

I've never actually played Portal multiplayer, but I imagine it could feel similar to something like that...

I've seen a lot of stuff that's made to look "alien" or "mind-bending" but this is one of the only things I've ever seen that legitimately don't look like they are from this world.
