- This week Trena repairs and refinishes a rather cute little dresser. She gives tips on repairing glide rails and dresser feet. Several layers of paint are stripped away and she finishes it with a natural stain.

The best words anyone in your line of work can say " we are not repainting " will get me watching everytime.
Can we get an honorable mention for the words "it doesn't even smell anymore!"
I am super impressed with your restoration work. Beautiful job.
Well, there are different tastes. I love painted furnitures but I love also these. 😊
That one is beautiful! I love the color!
It is wonderful to watch a true artist at work. Thank You Trena!
So skilled!!!
@@IrishAnnie Was it worth spending all that time though? How many hours did she spend and what did the customer pay? I bet she only ended up with $10 an hour when workshop and materials are taken into consideration. She could have earned more flipping burgers at McDonald's!
Love the kitty. Chest came out beautifully, but the kitty was the best part.
The details on this piece are gorgeous!!❤❤ Thank you for bringing it back to life and not painting it!!
Glad you like it!
I will never understand why people choose to hide beautiful wood grain like that under paint. You brought that lovely piece back to it's true glory.
The reason could be one of a few things….no appreciation for wood, no skill, no money, no imagination, no time, lazy……. I do get your point though. When you watch a video like this, that is exactly what you wonder, WHY?????😅
Trena, someone who has never repaired or refinished a piece like this cannot realize how much time and hard work let alone talent goes into your work. Another great job, hope you continue to do so in our throw away society.
Why would anybody paint over that beautiful color and carvings, wow it just stands out so nicely.
Why would anyone have assaulted that beautiful wood with paint. You honored that dresser well. Thank you
She is reborn! The finish and patina are perfection.
The stain really brought out the design and carvings ,that you couldn't see before ,as always Trena what a beautiful finished piece you turned out
Thank you for not painting, it looks great. You do amazing repairs, much respect to you.
When you started, I thought why would you take such garbage in your shop. But you prove me wrong. Very nice work. Thanks for sharing your skill with us.
You never cease to amaze me in transforming everything you work on into a treasure.
Great job. Look at that nice wood that was under that nasty paint. I especially like the glass pulls they give it a old time look. Drawers are hard for me also. I thank you for the help on them. Stay warm and have a wonderful day. Thank you.👍👍
Our HERO! Trena that is the most beautiful job - who knew that crusty old chest could be so pretty :)
Dang it, Trenna. I'm so jealous of your access to Goudey. Those stains are drop dead gorgeous.
There is nothing better than the gorgeous grain of oak. What a beautiful piece. Amazing job Trena ❤
Absolutely amazing job restoring that dresser! You amaze me with each video.
I’m amazed at how you blended in those dowels and made the two drawers matching the rest of the bureau. Beautiful!
Thank you very much!
Amazing. Just love watching you bring the beauty of these pieces back to life. Awesome workmanship.
Thank you very much!
I’m mesmerized with her skill and talent! This piece was totally transformed to beauty!
You are an artist!
My Aunt had this exact chest of drawers. Her son, my cousin, inherited it & did a great job refinishing but it had never been painted & was in better shape.
As usual you did great work. 😊
Thanks for sharing!
The essence of beauty is personified on your workmanship. Have yourself a happy Sunday.
Wow, it is hard to believe that something that looked fit for the burn pile can be turned back into an absolute little gem like this. Your skills are amazing and your videos are so enjoyable to watch. Thank you so much for posting.
How you turn a pile of wood fit for the scrap heap into a glorious piece of furniture is amazing !!!!
In my opinion far too many treasures have been scrapped and replaced with cheap modern schlock. We became a throw-away and move culture that lost its appreciation for history and quality, and now after so much has been lost, we are scrambling to save some of what is left. What is true with furniture is also true with architecture, literature, automobiles, language and many other things. We have made ourselves culturally poorer without realizing what we have done. Thank you Trena for your significant role in preserving our heritage.
Ach wie schön❤Man konnte richtig hören, wie das Kästchen zu atmen begann, als der hässliche Lack weg war und die wunderschönen Details zu sehen waren!😂
Yes❤️
Wow another brilliant restoration. I bet the owner was thrilled!
Welcome back, hope you all had a super festive break.
You are an artist, and this was a master class in furniture repair and restoration, the end result is stunning. I really enjoyed your processes every step of the way. I am so impressed with your attention to detail and hard work. Super well done. Stay well and take care 💕🙏
Love your work!💕💕
OMG a “master class in restoration & repair” 100% agree.
I love the way you turn sketchy furniture into beautiful pieces
Another beautiful restoration,Trena. You continue to amaze me!
Thankyou
Wow! Amazing! And those plugs. So well hidden!
Those plug repairs took a lot of effort. In the end, I could see only one of the six, and even the one that I could pick out is only because I was focused on looking for it! AWESOME job. Beautiful.
There is a mini iron , brand is clover. Think sized to iron dolls clothes, but with a long handle. I have been using it for veneer repairs in tight places, and found it darn handy. Quilters use them. Just thought I'd mention it in case it was useful to you. Great video!
Undoing what appeared to be a previous DIY furniture flip, with the paint and all. I enjoyed watching very much!
Bravo!!! Enjoyed the transformation and your techniques so much!! It is now an heirloom piece of furniture! Thank you for sharing!!
Wow , as usual the end result knocks my socks off! ( An old 1950s saying). Your ability to hide those plugs & your leg repair is amazing. A truely beautiful job , I'm sure the owner was very happy.
Thanks again!
Beautiful.. Your attention to detail is what makes it a masterpiece. I just love the carvings at the front, so special!
Wow Trena!, you have so much dedication to these old pieces and you must have the patience of a saint, fantastic work. I love watching these, the temptation is to whizz to the end and see the finished article.😂😂😂. Nice blog
Wow! That went from a purpleblue nightmare to a lovely piece
You never cease to amaze. Beautiful work.
I'm always amazed your artistic touches with color match and hiding repairs. Beautiful work!
I can not un-see the happy faces. lol
Absolutely gorgeous, Beautifully done, as always, Trena!!🤎😃
What a beautiful dresser! You are amazing, Trena.
A true perfectionist Trina you’re a star
Artist, Master Finish Carpenter, Historian, Engineer.....
I've missed you...
Very lovely work! The blending skills are impressive.
20:02 these kinds of repairs is what I'm here for. MUCH better than the former clunky slap-on 'fixes'. I love how you restore the original shape of the piece. Applause!
Thanks you
I love your music. It gives your work a magical element as you progress. Very well done.
Amazing transformation of what looked almost like a throw away piece.
I love the simple, sweet carving you found beneath all that horrid paint.
Such an attractive piece of furniture under that awful pale blue paint. That stain is an awesome product !
What surprises/impresses me most, is your patience. I would get so frustrated. Thank you, I find watching you very therapeutic! 🙂
If I. hadn't seen you go thru all the steps I'd swear you were a magician. Wow.
That is absolutely beautiful!! It’s incredible to see what it would have looked like when it was new! And thank you so much for sharing the repair and color toning processes 😊
You are so welcome!
Love the hidden details under all that paint. Good job.😊
You are by far the best of the best...No words can describe the amazing abilities you have...Not sure who taught you your skills But the student is now the master...I'm so overwhelmed by your ability..Please keep making videos because UA-cam would not exist in my life with out your Videos...
You worked your magic again. The chest is so beautiful I can't understand why anyone would have painted it to begin with.
And the magic continues! I do woodworking and have restored a few pieces. I continue to get some GREAT ideas for future projects. Thank you. So many times I see old furniture set at the curb and left because no one wants to take the time to restore them. To me the "real wood" furniture is worth so much more than the modern pressboard junk. Again, Thank you.
Outstanding work!!! Julian Baumgartner would be proud!
WOW! the plugs disappered before my eyes!! Amazing!
Great skills mum and dad must be proud its a shame people paint over beautiful grained timber paint does hide a lot of defects enjoy your videos thank you
This is beautiful! Love watching you work! You are so gifted.
Thank you so much!
Thank you! Great to see someone not choking a hammer.
I stripped my grandmothers Hoosier Cabinet. After stripping the old white paint off, I loved the “pickled” look after the paint rested in the grain. I oiled it and it’s so beautiful.
Ooh - I quite liked the two different colours on the drawers at the start but, Oh wow, what a beautiful job in the end. So talented💕💕💕💕
Thank you! Cheers!
This piece is just to beautiful and I love the stain. It looks like a piece of tree is in your house…….
Thank you very much for showing us this stunning work! You have incredible skills. Greetings from Munich Germany
Stunning transformation. Your skills are unmatched.
Hallo Trena, der Schrank ist wieder sehr schön geworden. Wieder eine sehr gute Arbeit. Es ist ein spannendes Video. Viele Grüße Christel ☺👍
Wow! It's therapeutic just watching you work.
Simply beautiful..🧘♂️
The blending job on those front holes was impressive don’t ya know
Your customer must be really happy with that. The difference at the end compared to what you started with is night n day. I would be proud to have that in my house.
I love your ball-peen hammer. My father had a small ball-peen hammer that I played with as a child. I still have it, and estimate it’s now about one hundred years old.
Excellent job as always. Enjoy watching your quality work.

That detail in the front of the drawers is so interesting. The wood almost looks like poplar with the greens and the weird stain absorption.
Beautiful cabinet. The paint hide its true beautify with the carvings ,thanks for sharing it with us.
Beautifully done.
Wow, that is spectacular, your customer is gonna flip, what a cool piece though!
You would not believe it is the same set off draws from when you first showed it with the paint on it. But the end result looks amazing customer will be very pleased. 👍😀😀
Glad to see you rescued and removed the ugly paint to let the nice grain of the wood shine through. The only thing that could have made it better would have been a brushed varnish or French polish finish.
I hope still time to wish you a blessed year. Work of a master of restoration and artistry. Thank you Trena.
Loved this. The plug replacement didn't show up at all when you were done. Really great job and great channel. Thanks for sharing yourself with us.
Beautiful job Trena as always. You are an artist.
Beautiful finish. I’m glad the customer didn’t want it painted , as it would be shame to hide that beautiful grain. Great camouflage of the dowels. I found the front of the draws an unusual design , but complements the style of the piece.

Thank- you for thinking me worthy of a gift , unfortunately I live in New Zealand , and I wouldn’t expect you to send something
That will cost an arm and a leg to get here . Being able to watch your restorations is reward enough.
Regards
Greg .
I'm so happy you're back! :)
Wow! Another masterpiece. Greetings from Philadelphia. 👍
You know I think the wood was meant to be two colors on the draws and it does look so unique I love it.
I’m totally loving that hammer, before you said anything! That thing has its own stories.
It sure does. Lol
Excellent restoration on a vintage 1900s Eastlake Entry Dresser or Console Dresser. I should note:
it most likely originally had antique brass two screw pulls, two per drawer, which is why it had the
extra holes. You might want to get with the owner, show her some photos from the internet, and
see if she would want you to replace the crystal ball pulls with brass handle pulls.
Yes, I agree. Those crystal pulls change the piece and not for the better. Old Eastlake hardware is widely available and not expensive . It's a shame that the light of Trena's beautiful restoration work seems a little dimmed by the wrong pulls. And replacing with the proper pulls would have saved all that angst over the plugs, too.
Welcome back …you were missed
oh and as an aside, showing the true beauty of the natural wood is so much better than all these people who grab a lovely piece of old furniture and throw a coat of paint on it to "modernise" it. it always just looks tacky. but that is more a reflection of their lack of skill and taste than anything i guess.
That really is a beautiful piece, you turned a sows ear in to a silk purse, well done.
From old to NEW! It really is magic!
As always, wonderful result and so reassuring to watch...thank you :) !
Why anyone would paint to begin with ? Just beautiful !
Your work is so good ,brought new life back to the dresser
