Muay Thai - How to Throw a Inside Leg Kick

  • Inside leg kicks can be very useful to knock your opponent off balance when timed properly. Key Points to remember:
    1. Make sure you utilize your pendulum step.
    2. Your lead leg will come upward at an angle to kick the inside of your opponents lead thigh.
    3. Make sure you lean back on your support leg in order to keep your head out of striking range of your opponent.
    4. If you feel jammed up as you try to get back in your stance, slightly hop back with your rear leg to readjust your angle.

    this is real muay thai. I don't get anything NEAR this at my gym. and my gym is taught by a thai! ex PABA boxing champ 118 and 126 weight classes. he was more interested in $$$ than teaching. thank you for the knowledge.

    I think the second form of kicking is way more efficient, because with the right leg and torso you can confuse your adversary on what you're goin' to be doin' and then throw your shin upon his leg. Real Thai knowledge guys, well done!!

    Hey man, thanks! It's called a "Pendulum Step." If your close you wouldn't hop in on your RIGHT leg so much (assuming your orthodox). If your to close you would hop more at a 45 degree angle to your left, instead of toward your opponent.

    Great tutorial, wasnt really sure about this kick, now i have a bit of more understanding. But what if you are already close to your opponent, then i have to moove my left leg back in a little jump, is that right? A video about this jumping leg change would be great ( i really dont know how it is called in english :D)

    everytime I attempt this either I kick my opponents nuts because they were moving or they do a brutal check, I can never time inside low.kick right

    Question when you land the kick should it be inside thigh or inside knee also should your leg be going in a downward motion
