Ray- Great to see that Skip got his hydrofoil working so smoothly! I used to rent an apartment from his father Harry over the old Skippercraft boat shop, and we became pretty good friends, partly because I am also a professional boatbuilder, and also because he was such a great guy. I didn't know Skip's name was actually Harry until now, as I only saw him occasionally when he came over from Seattle to work on the boat probably in the mid eighties or so.
Sorry for the dumb question, but is this Harry Larsen the same Harry - Business Planning Manager of Boeing Marine Systems, designed Boeing 929 Hydrofoil?
I think he is from my area of Bellingham Wa. It looks like San Juan Islands. I want to build on. Turn my 25 cabin cruiser into one like he did. I was always concerned about shallow water movement but his system looked to have that covered. Love it. Job well done sir.
Wow! That is flat amazing. You just sold a book. I hope it's got the code for the height sensor and roll control in it. Oh, and you own the only cool bayliner in history.
Several Boeing passenger hydrofoils had been converted for the military. Every one developed a six(?) crack on its forward bulkhead. After redesigning, testing, strengthening, testing, etc... there was no answer why but welding the crack solved the problem. ;-)
I always wondered if you saw this video over there on Lake Stevens Washington or if you Saturday in Lake Washington I also heard that recently you guys sold this boat
OK. I need no convincing that many boats would benefit from this system. I'd love it on my BL 2452. I'm not a hater. But... what are the downsides of hydrofoil installs like this? I see trailerability, beaching, shallow draft waters, complexity of software control, delicate below water hardware (debris strikes) and envious stares from other boaters. What about leg length and cavitation on turns? What am I missing?
The retraction structure is different. Jetfoil has a flapped bow foil to control height. Talaria uses an articulated, angle of incidence, bow foil to control height. Its web site is talaria.yolasite.com
wake is great lost of energy in the feeling of drag or slowing down study of foil show good foil make it easy for cruise with less than 10hp but I donot know if you need more power of lift up but people buy wrong foil bad balance of pitch angle of boat nose up angle remember wing suit is not for gliding but for diving! same thing happens when people sharpen skate I will test aroliner this summer in red river Winnipeg 2022
i thought the no wake zone was for safety too. i'm sure your fellow mariners love you haulin ass in the no wake zone. i guess u own the lake so u can do as u please. forget safety. live and learn. out
Unfortunately, at that speed, if something is suddenly spotted that hadn't been noticed before, it's highly doubtful that the boat could be stopped in time to avoid a problem. Going too fast in an anchorage area, even in good visibility, is just asking for a potential lawsuit.
It is the plural form of the noun 'fly,' a 19th century British four-wheeled human-powered conveyance. So yes, it is a word, Mr. Smartypants. It's just anachronistic and rare.
I sincerely do love this guy ... we definitely should have way more of these guys, around !

Yes
Wow that is so cool. Do you have any details on how you built this?I have the same boat as you I think.
for a big lake, that hull design is great in a 2 foot swell, Id like to see the foils in that scenario?
That is amazing, so cool, computer monitored and hydraulically controlled.
Please sell the plans. I want to install these on my bayliner ciera. Fantastic stuff Harry !!
Just buy Boeing 929 License - and here you are!

Now you can go fast in a no wake zone
Noah Laughlin LOL

Are complete blueprints available? I'm a Tesla Sr Engineer and I have some ideas...

The graphic text obscures the hydrofoil at the end !!
Holy Cow.. How expensive was that?
Just wondering if Harry still has this boat and is using it?
how many percent of gas saving you get?
Romeo M about 30%
Ray, can you give us some numbers on fuel consumption? I would love to know what GPH was before and after adaptation at cruising speeds and top speed.
The gallons per hour are the same the boat just goes faster, 37 versus 28 knots
Puget sound?
I always wondered if you saw this video over there on Lake Stevens Washington or if you Saturday in Lake Washington I also heard that recently you guys sold this boat
Very well done Sir hats off to you. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
Hi there how to order the book and can this be on boat with outboard eng
What was the boat's speed before adding the foils?
Just ordered your book. Ray, would you say that the boat could do with a lot less power now? How much power, at what speed did it start to foil/plane?
Mike Lamb It takes off at about 18 knots. It has a 200hp engine. Take off RPM is about 3000. WOT is about 4500 RPM.
I am wanting to put some on my 24FT pontoon boat.
Is that set up in your book? with the ultrasound height control and roll control?
OK. I need no convincing that many boats would benefit from this system. I'd love it on my BL 2452.

Good old american ingenuity! 😎
Russian
Jaw on floor... Love this.
What is the fuel economy?
Awesome genius make a kit and sell it. Smart dude
Speed is the key, I imagine it got increased but how much?
From 28 to 37 knots
great idea
No wake. Would make water-skiing easier.
That is awesome!
Top speed?
I would like to see the numbers plz??????
Agreed Mr Ray...Flipping over is the great unknown =) leave that for the inexperienced canoe pilots.
Saves haulage fees, you can antifoul her underway :)
So cool
Would be nice to see how well it works in "Offshore" conditions.
You should take this technology and put it in a race boat and if you win a race everyone would want one.
Well done
Feel tha Bern!
As we say here in the UK."it's the dog's bollocks "
amazing
Amazing!!
Nice
the front foil looks like a mini copy of a Boeing Jetfoil front strut

Is that Dick Cheney driving the boat?
deep thinker
a great leader: Dick Chaney.
Less wake than a water skier!!!
dammit, I want one.
you must save a fortune on fuel cost.
patrol hydrofoil bayliner
Молодец:-)

I am sure if her saw other boats or people in the water he would have slowed down don't you think

Awesome Bayliner "Flies"? There is no such word as "Flys." But cool boat!
