This year, I'm making my first sweet potato pie for the holiday, and it looks delicious. I recall my dad making each of my siblings and me our own sweet potato pie. May he rest in peace (2021).
Everything you put in your pie filling is traditional among us country folk in S.C. including cloves. Everything in that filling is just right! Alternative for a grownup take it to the next level pie add 2 tablespoons (or 3) of peach schnapps.
Great video! Have you ever tried browning your butter before placing in potato mixture? It produces nice hints of caramel. I love watching you work with the knife to create your scallops never thought of that but will try it next week. Thanks for sharing ❤️
Thank you for the pie crust tips!! The edge of the pie crust looks very pretty. 😅My late mum' s sweet potato pie was always my favorite dish. She said she found the recipe in a magazine. It has heavy cream 1.5t of nutmeg and .5t of cinnamon and 1/2 of ginger. She would always double the nutmeg & cinnamon. She served it cold with fresh cream.....❤
Thank you so much for this wonderful video of one of my favorite pies. I used to love pumpkin pie 🥧 but since having sweet potato 🍠 pie it's now become my favorite. I'm going to try your recipe. It looks so delicious! ❤
This is similar to how grandma did it. She didn’t have a blender or such. Just a wisk and potato masher it worked just as good. Nothing wrong with the hands that creates. This just popped into my feed.
Thank! a bit different cant wait to try! Usually i boil pot then mix removed strings long process. So here i go I’m exited to try this THANKS!!! I hope crust completely cooks sometimes i have a problem so stressful Ok!!!😀
Shannon thank You so much for the comment…. At least I’m making a difference in somebody’s life…. I just started a little over two months ago so the subscribers will soon find me….and I have so much more to share… thx!
Hello there this is sinful cravings. I remember chatting with you about the sweet potato pie recipe last year and was wondering if you tried my recipe and if so, how did it turn out. Happy Holidays!!!!
No cloves or all spice. I puree my sweet potatoes so that they're smooth. I use lemon and vanilla extracts and a little nutmeg and cinnamon. Sometimes no cinnamon.
If you bake them long enough before and after you assemble the pie the strings will bake out. I just posted a new Sweet potato pie video today showing how to use a blender for the recipe. Good Luck!... Remember to click like so it can keep circulating.. come back and comment if you decide to make it...HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
If you have everything ready to go into the oven then go ahead and bake it. I bake my pies for 1 hr and a half to 2 hours depending on the size of the pie and I never have strings
No eggs in this particular recipe, sometimes I do use eggs when I want that custard texture, but there are many different ways to make sweet potato pie.
@@sinfulcravings7982 Ok, thanks. I'll have to try making it this way. I've never seen Sweet Potato Pie made without the egg. It looks interesting. So in this version, what do you use as your binder for the filling?
@larryduncan4071 yes just like cheese cake is made with eggs but they sell no-bake cheese cake mixes in the grocery stores that don’t require eggs…… the eggs create a more custardy texture and without eggs it’s a more dense but silky texture, in my sweet potato pie recipe the flour will be your binder and it also adds a more creamy texture… use a mixer if you have one if not, you could also use a blender. I hope this helps and I hope that you come back and let me know how it came out. Have a great day.
It can be made in more than one way.. just like some people Mac and cheese with or without eggs… the eggs add more of a fluffy consistency to the sweet potato pie and I have also made it that way….both ways are DELICIOUS!!!!!!
I came here to ask that. So this is basically sweet potatoes, flour and evaporated milk😮? What's binding them together? This is basically sweet potato casserole in a pie shell🤔
@@sinfulcravings7982I assumed the melting of the sugars is the binder. I usually boil my potatoes, but I tried baking them this year, but I cheated and made one, using an egg. Unfortunately, I tainted my research on the difference baking vs boiling, by modifying my recipe and combing your portions with mine, and using dark brown sugar instead of light. Then the Pillsbury pie shells seemed to taste different this year so, in short, I don't know what made the difference, because I did too many things at one time, but it come out as good. I'll try it again for Christmas, only I'll make 2 with baked potatoes and 2 with boiled.
I never have strings, i use my bullet ti make my seeet potatoe creamy,I've been doing this for years. All these recipes are old, they copy off of other people.
You have a happy thanksgiving, i use my nutra bullet, no strings just creamy. I tried your way sweet potatoe cornbread no strings. Thank you! Have you ever made brownie cheesecake
Bake them until they are SUPER soft if they are large potatoes you might need to bake them for two hours it may seem like a long time but this is what works for me and then when you put the pie in the oven bake it for at least an hour and 15 minutes to an hour and 35 minutes depending on the size of your pie
Hi Tika, when you bake them long enough before and after assembling your pies, you won't have that problem. If you run into 2 or 3 strings after that, you won't even taste them. I posted another video today using a blender to blend them out. Take a look at that video....and let me know what you think of that video.

Clove is a very good spice 👌
Somebody needs to tell Pattie she uses too much🤢
Thanks for sharing😍
What temperature is the oven at
350 for 1 - 1.5 hrs
❤ omg thank you
Looks good
Thank You!
Yes
Just simply use Sweet potatoes instead of yams, there is a difference, the sweet potato has little to no strings, we're as the yams are stringy.
Ummm I’m going to make it ❤
LET ME KNOW HOW IT COMES OUT!
This is only for one pie? Do I double it for 2?
Yes. 1 large pie (10 inch)
3 cups of sweet potatoes will make a large pie 2 cups will make a regular sized foil pie pan( I think it’s 9 1/2 inch)
You can get the measurements for a 2 cup (small pan) in the $50 Thanksgiving video…. Good Luck!!
@@sinfulcravings7982 thank you
What happened to your eggs I didn't see you put any in the filling.
Didn’t use them in this specific recipe
what did you have the temp on?
350
Can I fresh grind my spices please?
Thanks for sharing your recipe 😊
Thanks for watching and I hope you try the recipe
Can you boil the potatoes?
Yes but baking them keeps the flavor of the potato.
Ok😊
Hello....
How are you?
Happy Thanksgiving....
How do you get the strings out?

My crust didn't brown under bottom 😕
Can you use cake flour instead of all purpose flour?
Yes, or cornstarch
How do I get the strings out with the whisk? Great video btw

So sorry about that, didn’t realize it

No eggs in this recipe but you can add eggs if you want a more custard-like consistency
I always thought a couple of eggs went in a sweet potato pie?
This one is eggless but feel free to add eggs to your recipe
