* 4lbs of Sweet Potato
* 3 1/2 Cups of Flesh from the sweet potato
* 3 extra large eggs
* 1/2 cup sweet & condensed milk
* 3/4 cup evaporated milk
* 1 TBSP vanilla
* 1 3/4 Cup granulated sugar
* 1 Cup Light Brown Sugar
* 1 TBSP Cinnamon
* 3/4 TSP nutmeg
* 1/2 TSP Ginger
* 1/2 TSP Salt
* 1 TSP Lemon Extract
* 5 TBSP unsalted butter
* Pillsbury Pie Crust
* Hand Mixer
* Large Bowl
* Pie baking dish
My Gram taught me the round ones make better pies and the long ones are better for yams.

One of the most beautiful-looking pie (besides my mother's SP pie) I've ever seen!! I mean it just invites you in!! The crust is just the way I like my pies to look and I like to eat. I cannot eat the crust if it ain't browned like this. I'm joining a potluck so I'll be back for this pie. I don't have a turn table but I'm going to do the best I can to get my swirl ON!!!

I don't prefer the lemon extract, but I do use a little fresh lemon juice. Everything else you did, I also do. Very nice video. Thank you for sharing. The finished product looks great. Happy Thanxgiving.

I made 3 pies on Sunday following your recipe with the exception of the ginger and nutmeg (I do not like the taste of these 2 ingredients). I must say your recipe is and was the Bomb...My family gave me so many praises after eating the pies. Heck I don't mind telling you your recipe topped my recipe. Your pie filling came out good it looks really good I usually make my pie filling a week before the holidays are usually just freeze it until I need to take it out and cook it. This is an excellent recipe and I have never tried it because my mother has the same ingredients except 1. So I know this will be good for a fact as I've been eating this pie recipe for over 50 years. The 1 thing my mother don't use but have tried is condensed milk it makes for a sweeter pie.

This is similar to my recipe that was passed down from my Mom. Ginger is totally the secret ingredient. Differences: she only used evaporated milk, she did not use nutmeg, she used graham cracker crust and only vanilla extract.
I've been trying to perfect my recipe, my Mom's pies were legendary. I'm about 99% there, I think the missing ingredient is love! ❤💕💖

If you get a kitchen aid mixer it'll change your life. The silver attachment makes it so easy to remove strings it's an all in one job

My mother was an excellent cook and baker.. I took my lessons off of my mother when it came to sweet potato pies...we use eagle brand milk...no ginger we hook it up...

I add lemon zest and fresh grated ginger. Makes a huge difference 😊
