Bake your potatoes, use pet milk, and use the vanilla flavor.. a co worker made a pie it was perfect. She ask my opinion I said all it need was some vanilla flavor.
Definitely no disrespect meant here at all so please please please don't take it that way. I do think there are a lot of people out there, based on other UA-cam videos I've seen regarding cooking, who do not realize that margarine and butter are not the same thing. So I definitely, like others have said here, would recommend butter. Butter makes everything better and if you think it tastes good with margarine you'd probably faint dead away from satisfaction when you taste it with butter!
Tawana Cooper Butter.." is 100..% natural..." thus Healthier.." not to mention it gives a richer flavor to whatever it is added to. Margerine.." on the other hand is not Healthy due to the fact that it is man made and is chemically a few molecules shy of being plastic.." So yes whenever a dish calls for the use of oil or margarine please consider using butter while a bit more fattening your body can process it better than it can margarine.."
@@otisussery9124 I'm not sure what gave you the impression that I do not use butter I was just trying to point out that some people don't realize that there is a difference. I am very well aware of the difference and I only only only use butter! And besides that I live in Wisconsin, the dairy state!😃
Tawana Cooper One should presume that I had read your reply prior to my deciding to add a reply. Which suggest that I am agreeing with you and further explaining to others who presumably might read both our replies suggesting the use of butter as oppose to margarine. And pointing out specifically why one might want to do so. There is nothing in the reply that you can construe as being in opposition but to the contrary it is agreeable in its overall tone thus intent" I live in the south and certainly we have our share of dairy farms as well.." Thanks for sharing.."

Hell Yeah... I m from germany and a great country Musik Fan. Heared a song called "Song of the south" and there is a sweet potatoe pie they sing about. Sorry, everyone have their own way of cooking and taste. My family of many generations of cooks wouldn't except this...It may look good, but how it taste? "THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING ". Real butter, real vanilla beans, real spices etc. It's a difference. I was taught back 5 generation of cooks. There's a balance art in cooking.
@flowerpress1 If a person wants to bake the potato it is the right way for them. Everyone does not cook the same. By baking the potatoes they are super flavorful. The way you make your pie is most likely flavorful. You do your way and everyone else is allowed to do their thing. There is no right or wrong way.
Yummy delicious my grandmommie taught me how make sweet potato pie from scratch and how make it with with no crust and it was called pon it has raisins in it ..boy and better not get it mixed up with pumpkin pie either
My momma used to make sweet potato pies and sweet potato pon. You are the only other person besides my sister who has mentioned a sweet potato pon. I loved it minus the raisins, everyone else in my immediate family liked the cooked raisins.
Ok thats exactly how i prepare mine the only difference i do not boil my pototes i bake them .i think you loose your sweet nutrients when you boil them but i have boiled them also .
No matter if you baked or boiled, why are you concerned with the nutrients that has been over powered with loads of sugar and everything else which makes this far from a nutritious dessert? Bake gives it a caramelized flavor I don't like in my pies, so each is own.
I understand every family has there own way of doing things but I would encourage you to add both real vanilla & lemon extract to your recipe. It looks like you could go in a bit heavier with the sugar as well. I think you will find your pie to be far more tasty.

Love it! I’ve been craving a home made sweet potato pie and your video is just what I needed! Thank you!!!
Thank you Lei for sharing your video. This is the best video that I have found on how to make sweet potato pie. They turned out really good. I did add vanilla extract. Sometimes I also use lemon extract to add more flavor.
THE BEST VIDEO EVER!!😋 I can't wait to try YOUR RECIPE!!
Soooo my mix look light orange…what did I do wrong? Trying to bake was my first mistake but I’m tired of bothering folks. I wanna learn.
Bake your potatoes, use pet milk, and use the vanilla flavor.. a co worker made a pie it was perfect. She ask my opinion I said all it need was some vanilla flavor.
Sweet potato pie. Recipes
My grandma was from the country and the best pies to me start with baked sweet potatoes keeps the flavor in the potatoes better.imho.take care😊

Butter.." is 100..% natural..." thus Healthier.." not to mention it gives a richer flavor to whatever it is added to.

One should presume that I had read your reply prior to my deciding to add a reply. Which suggest that I am agreeing with you and further explaining to others who presumably might read both our
replies suggesting the use of butter as oppose to margarine. And pointing out specifically why one might want to do so.
There is nothing in the reply that you can construe as being in opposition but to the contrary it is agreeable in its overall tone thus intent"
I live in the south and certainly we have our share of dairy farms as well.." Thanks for sharing.."

makin this rn😍 nobody makes these on the west coast but I’m obsessed
I suggest you pre-bake your pie shells before filling them to give a crispy bottom crust.
I just got done following & baking pie. Will cool and try a slice with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Recipe easy to follow. Also, the aroma of sweet potato pie in my place. Awesome! Thank you for sharing. Winter is right around the corner.
Thanks! Can't wait to make it for Thanksgiving this year - appreciate you making it so understandable - God Bless!
Lemon extract instead of the juice will make it a little less tart; try that and yes, baking the potatoes will help the color to stay deep orange and keep the sweet potato taste
Everyone believes in something and everyone believes that their something is the right thing! Each persons do things differently to suite themselves 🤷🏽♀️
We are in Australia and saw the pie in the movies so we decided to make it.. delicious 🤤 one day we will go to america and taste the real one ❤️
Do anybody believe in Vanilla anymore???
I use it
Don't use milk either just eggs
I put vanilla in every sweet dish. I even put it in box pancake mix.
Both these new aged ppl
Or all spice? Clove ? Or any other old goodies
Bake your sweet potatoes it makes a world of difference. Also I use vanilla but I have stopped buying it because of how expensive it has became over the last few years. I now substitute vanilla extract with maple syrup believe me it is delicious I use it in everything now
Hell Yeah... I m from germany and a great country Musik Fan. Heared a song called "Song of the south" and there is a sweet potatoe pie they sing about. What happened to the recipe of how much to put in the pie
I know this is an older video but I’m so glad it’s here I’m making this tomorrow night!
I hope you enjoy ☺️
Sorry, everyone have their own way of cooking and taste. My family of many generations of cooks wouldn't except this...It may look good, but how it taste?
"THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING ". Real butter, real vanilla beans, real spices etc. It's a difference. I was taught back 5 generation of cooks. There's a balance art in cooking.
First time making this pie and I’m in love😍😍😍😍😍😍 now I understand why this can’t miss on thanksgiving
bake the potatoes so u don't boil away the flavor
I will try that next time thanks for the suggestion
For how long?
Thank you so much for sharing that bake instead of boiled method
@flowerpress1 If a person wants to bake the potato it is the right way for them. Everyone does not cook the same. By baking the potatoes they are super flavorful. The way you make your pie is most likely flavorful. You do your way and everyone else is allowed to do their thing. There is no right or wrong way.
I bake mine too!! I hate the strings so I try to chop them up after wards
Without the crust we grew up calling it sweet potato bread
Ok thats exactly how i prepare mine the only difference i do not boil my pototes i bake them .i think you loose your sweet nutrients when you boil them but i have boiled them also .
But i do use real vanilla
No matter if you baked or boiled, why are you concerned with the nutrients that has been over powered with loads of sugar and everything else which makes this far from a nutritious dessert? Bake gives it a caramelized flavor I don't like in my pies, so each is own.
Keshonda Baldwin That's the same thing I was thinkin the nutrients was gone after the sugar LOL it's a SWEET potato pie not a healthy one💁🏾♀️
Thank for this great video ! I tried it and came out soo good . Everyone asking me to make another batch . THANK YOU
I understand every family has there own way of doing things but I would encourage you to add both real vanilla & lemon extract to your recipe. It looks like you could go in a bit heavier with the sugar as well. I think you will find your pie to be far more tasty.
She needs two cups of white sugar not brown mixed with white she needs lemon flavor it makes the pie taste better.
kevseb66
No lemon, yes vanilla!
It is best to use vanilla and lemon extract Incarnation cream and real butter and white cane sugar that's the best trust me
When he comes back again
Ain't no tater pie like grannys tater pie !!!
Back in the day , you would fight over that last hunk of grannys tater pie on Thanksgiving!!!
