My grandpa used to make a bunch of these for Thanksgiving and always hid one for me to have by myself. He passed away unexpectedly last year, before he ever wrote down the recipe. This year, I plan to start creating my own recipe in his beloved memory. I think this will be excellent recipe to start a new family tradition 😊
I use a hand emulsion blender to cream my sweet potatoes, add butter, 1 can sweeten condensed milk, as less extra sugar as possible, lemon zest, pumpkin pie spice, and those spices. Dark brown sugar instead of granulated. Then eat it breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
If you want to avoid overmixing the custard at the end, I'd mix the sugar and spices together before adding to the sweet potato. You won't have to work out clumps of spices, so less mixing.
I'm Southern, I was born in Louisiana it's great to see you tackle the sweet potato pie. It's my favorite but I can't make it like my mom. I can't wait to try yours out.
Chef's kiss to the chef! Honestly, I've made Sweet Potato Pie for many years -- patiently removing the strings. Whether using a hand mixer or stand mixer...and rinsing the beaters several times to remove the strings. But using the food processor is genius, a thousand thanks for the tip. And yes, my pies turned out light and fluffy and of course, delicious! Thanks sharing. Love the channel.

This looks amazing. My Mom and I were always looking for a great sweet potato pie recipe and this looks like it might be the one. Sadly this will be my first Thanksgiving without her. But I will make this pie in her honor and keep the tradition of the holiday that she loved so much.❤

Sweet potato pie reminds me of my grandmom. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas we could count on her making her sweet potato pie! Wonderfully delicious memories! 💗🥰💗 I have to say, in your fabulous kitchen you have wonderful storage for your spices but I’m itching to alphabetize your spices for you! Anyone and everyone who knows the alphabet will quickly and easily be able to find any spice when assisting you in the kitchen! Having helped numerous friends and family move house over the years, that is the one organizational tip I did for them and still continue to get thanks years later for making their cooking time easier and more efficient! Also it’s good reinforcement for little helpers in the kitchen just learning their alphabet. Plus, you’ll help out any of your more fastidious viewers who appreciate the neat and orderly! 😉😊🥰
I’ve been making sweet potato pies for decades as part of my holiday meal. This recipe is all new to me. I’ll be trying it this year. It looks delicious.
Looks delicious! Very similar to my recipe but I use allspice instead of ginger. Plus I add molasses and melted butter for a rich and decadent pie. It's great with a peacan pie like topping baked on top. 💜
I love the Sweet Potato Pie. This is the only pie I really eat.😋 My mom used to make it on Thanksgiving and it was fun helping. but she got tired and too busy so now she buys it instead.
Hi John! I made the recipe yesterday! This was so easy, thanks to your detailed step by step guide -including the pie crust-. This is the first time I tasted this type of pie, as it is not something that we do in my country. Thank you so so much!
