Good review. But I think the Axon 7 is the only one with AMOLED and the Honor 8 has an LCD

The reason i chose the honor was because amoled burns in
amoled doesn't burn in. as long as you don't leave you phone screen on with the same picture on screen for months and months and months impossible unless your buying an old display phone.
Good comparison but why does everyone forget to mention that the Axon 7 is the first Google Daydream ready smartphone???
what's Google daydream?
because 1st, it doesn't exist yet so people can't really use it as a good measuring. And 2nd, although hardware wise it's daydream ready, it won't work with it yet until it has nougat, in which most people don't really know ZTE's track record in updating their software.
Michael Panggabean That's why I said Google Daydream ready smartphone not that it has Google Daydream... And Google Daydream works on Marshmallow too I think but is in need of special software which is why ZTE worked closely with Google when making the Axon 7. All of the required libraries are already included in Nougat. When Daydream comes out this fall, Azon 7 will be the first handset that will be able to utilize it alongside the new Nexus...

Живко Јанкулоски what I meant to say is, because it doesn't exist yet, it's not really a good point to use since you're pretty much talking about a promise, not of current feature. Daydream won't work on marshmallow, it's a feature from nougat onwards. And judging by zte skinned ui, and also not really that clear of a track record on updating their software because it was not really a mainstream brand before, I won't really bet that much on that feature for now. I would love to be proven wrong, though.
Honor 8 isn't Amoled, it's LTPS.
Don't expect much from Bailey.
i understand the confusion. gsmarena had it as amoled for awhile and they recent fixed it.

Axon 7 wins. Better display, better battery and front speaker sold it for me
its ugly, it will corrode. its bad
after using the axon 7 for a few months, the issues with the camera are almost entirely from the automatic camera mode, i use in manual mode most of the time as an amateur photographer, and it rarely disappoints. Comparable to a cheap dslr imo
what about gaming performance? does it heat up alot?

1:59 - the on screen buttons on the honour 8 look to be the same distance apart as on the axon 7. Are they really different? If so, it can't be big...also, the axon 7's buttons are (deliberately, I'd bet) directly below the icons on the bottom of the screen, in this image, the hangouts, the app draw, and the chrome icons. How difficult can it be?

we Bought the honor 8 in black, and the axon 7 in gold. wife loves her honor, its pretty smooth experience, and axon is very nice but the home button and back button def need to be lit up or option for on screen.

I have a problem I'm not able to find, Since I got my new phone, I was coming from an S5, I reset it to give it to my sister and got the Honor, I went in to AT&T to switch it, and get a nano SIM and remove my old phone, The honor phone received and sent text messages with ease FOR A WHILE, but then it never does anymore, did something happen? Also, the connectivity for the phone is not great, is it just the phone or my carrier?

Good summary. The Axon 7 isn't FAR behind in camera, but it is the worse of the two.
No, the Honor 8 is more powerfull in game (more powerfull than my GS7 though)i have 60fps on EVERY game like Asphalt 8 & Real Racing 3 and on my GS7 i have only ~40fps

I decided to switch carriers just for the Axon 7 like 6 months ago, I'm so glad I did. I switched from Boost Mobile to Cricket Wireless, I now pay $30 a month when I used to pay $70 a month. Turns out I really don't need unlimited data.

If only the Axon 7 worked on Verizon, I'd be all over it :(
It's all on Verizon why it doesn't. It has the radios to work on their network. I'd keep complaining to Verizon, maybe it'll get you somewhere. They really want you to buy their phones though and get locked into their 2 year commitment.

Really? I've heard mixed reports. Some have said it works fine if you turn roaming on, others have said you get kicked off LTE after one hour and have to reboot, and they have also mentioned that VoIP doesn't work yet even though the phone supports it. Have you had any of these experiences with a Verizon sim?
I just got one, put in my already active sim and have had no issues yet with it. calls and LTE data working without me having to do anything.

Bailey, thank you for pointing out the inertial scrolling issue on the Honor 8. I absolute hated that on iPhone when I couldn't tap on anything until the animation was done (or would have been done had I not stopped or disabled it). For that reason, as well as the no custom roms, I have chosen not to buy the Honor 8, but I'm sad about that, because it's an otherwise perfect phone.
Kind of a dumb question but will the Honor 8 work with TMobile 4G LTE on a prepaid plan?
Is the Honor 8 US model a dual SIM? It has the tray, but I've heard many reports that it is single SIM + microSD. Is it just single SIM while in the USA, but can actually be used as dual SIM outside the US (in Europe, Asia, Australia where the phone bands are not silly like the USA) ;)
at first I thought get me the bleach this guy's annoying, but by the end of the video he grew on me and I actually quite like his content nice work just make the intro abit more interesting next time;)
if you watch his older videos you can notice that he is now more comfortable with the camera and the review quality is better

I would go towards the axon 7 because it has a more "Nexus feel" to it (front facing speakers, backwards facing fingerprint sensor and a more stock android skin). which phone out of the two would use if u had to survive on it for 2 years?

i have a blu life one X2 but since i smacked my phone the metal side easily dented and it fell out of my car onto the concrete floor wich held up very well but i have a very small hair line crack in the top right corner and as much as i like the honor 8 design i would go for this phone.

The Axon 7 is considerably better. The Honor 8 isn't really a flagship in my opinion. To me the Honor 8 is more of a quality mid range phone.

I've seen performance comparison between idol 4 & Axon 7. Sadly the idol wipes the floor with the Axon in performance & speed, so does one Plus 3 😥

better SOC, better performance, better design, IR blaster, more secure fingerprint sensor with more functions, better camera, 24 months of updates, Kirin 950, better signal+reception, Wifi+, hardly Axon 7 all the time.
+JZ VR why are you such an Honor fanboy? The ZTE is far better on most important specs and kills it in the top three: screen size, quality and resolution, battery life sound.
JZ VR Better software on Axon 7 IMO closer to stock while Honor 8 copies iOS, better battery by far, display better, Daydream capable, sound (duh), Expandable storage to 256, 2 yr warranty no questions asked.. only a deductable if you trash it, more durable construction, better video... yeah Axon 7 KILLS. Best phone total package of 2016.
Yeah no. 2.5k (1440p) is useless on a phone unless you use it for VR. Even 1080p at 5.5" has a higher pixel density than 8k on a 24" monitor. At normal viewing distances 1080p and 1440p wont look different. The other features can be an argument though. For me the Honor is the better option because of the better signal and better camera which are extremely important to me as i spend a lot of time hiking. I like the UI though that's just personal preference. Both phones have their ups and downs. It's not a X phone is always better than Y situation. Those 24 months of updates is a massive plus too...

are you sure the US version Honor 8 is dual SIM?
I can't decide between the Honor 8 and Axon 7 as one has the better audio and performance, but the other has best looks, great picture camera, and features. I listen to music a lot but like to take really nice pictures. I want a phone size similar to my S5, but also want stock-like android experience better obtained by the Axon 7. The Honor is also cheaper than the Axon at $290 vs $349 which is a big factor. By February, would it the Axon be under $300? Please help.
If price is a factor the Honor 8 is cheaper. From what you said in the comment,I would go with the Axon 7,even though personally I like the Honor 8 more (with the nougat update that is)

Idk man i'm in the same boat as you. honor 8 is $260 after instant amazon rebate now so its even harder to justify getting the axon 7.
