We met in our hometown Duisburg when he was still Peter Brodbeck. His father Werner was my father in law.For me the greatness of Peter was his ability to keep his personal life far away from the fame and fortune life as a star photographer. A great guy who we all miss a lot.
One of the greatest photographers ever. So inspiring, so true. I loved his way of seeing women, and his unique style. I have a few of his albums and I love to spend time looking at his photographs. R.I.P. Peter.
I remember the pre-supermodel era, looking at various glamour magazines wondering why the models' names were never mentioned. Lindbergh certainly helped change that. I love his work. Ironically, what I love is that he often makes the supermodels look like real people in candid situations, rather than the perfect, posed, mannequin-like models of previous eras.
I didn't know he had passed. Such a sadness right now...I loved his works more than any other artists in photography. He was my inspiration when I was a photographer. I wish I had met him. Good luck my dear...The Universe, now, is the limit
He marked an era, his style was unique and real.. beautiful art/photography. He was about authenticity and real, sometimes raw beauty. Loved his work and his style, wish he took a photo of myself, would've been such an honor. May he rest in peace....part of a fashion era is gone, so sad. Have a safe journey Peter🌷
Hi @Tim Copsey, We're really gald that you enjoyed the documentary! Peter Lindbergh was definitely an extremely influential fashion photographer. He took some stunning photos. We hope you manage to find other documentaries of interest on our channel. Best wishes, The DW Documentary Team
I must say that Lindbergh’s style of photography suits me because when i was at art school majoring in photography that’s how i did it too. I believe his works must have influenced me somehow. As a naturalist, i didn’t use make-up for the models and used natural lighting only. He made it look easy and simple but a lot of preparations go into each shot.
When you figured out how to put together the subject, the lighting, in the right environment... you got the picture that you will call your own. That's the secret of a great photos.

"OK, do that hopeless look." That about sums up fashion photography for me. Lindbergh was a terrific photographer. It's just a pity that his talents were applied in a world that is oddly more interested in darkness and ugliness than hope and beauty.
odd example with Churchill and the cigar as he hated to be taken in photo. The famous photo with the cigar took some wit form Karsh as he made him mad to get that shot...
He was a great photographer / art director - one of several that ushered the Supermodel into our pop culture! What a life fashion photography afforded him. With the advent of digital photography and his 35 mm cameras/long lenses I felt Peter lost his edge & intimacy becoming a snapper who laid on the shutter button shooting 20 frames every 2 secs. R.I.P. Herr Lindbergh!
comment avoir des ,infos sur la bande son utilisée dans cette vidéo notamment la voix magnifique et pleine d'émotion de cette chanteuse que je ne connais pas, Merci de me donner ces références musicales
The camera is actually on its side here so that the image is taller than it is wide. It can be confusing when the clips are brief because the tripod mount on the lens can be swivelled all the way around the body of the lens. Some photographers will swivel it to the top when it isn't in use, some to the bottom etc, etc. But in the very brief clip we see here the camera is on it's side and we see the base of the camera body. And now when i look again you are quite right, the camera is upside down! I do not know the reason! Well spotted.
I still like his laugh so much! It sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger"s impersonators exaggerated sounds when they were successfully portraying the actor as "Happy", satisfied, or naughty. Such caricature laughter that makes him lovable to me, in the same way as the pictures of Vogue Italia did, during the many years I watched his stunning work in that specific glossy. I miss him so much and I m sure, SURE he could have made Linda magnetic, even after her health troubles. She is still one of my visual passions, the Model's model, but I was so disturbed to look at the fakeness of her recent work with Maisel. If Lindberg was still around he would have shown us Linda's real femininity in distress, He wouldn't LIE about her condition but find the poetry in her spiteful situation. No need for cagoules and fake smiles, Just to make a picture of her appealing. He would simply have shown us how beautiful she is even in bad times, and through her body and face let us see how beautiful is life, to live, even when the odds are against you at the worst. Portraying Evangelista conceptually as the EX most important woman in the fashion-star system, just as a middle of communication, He was the photographer of her soul, which is always magnific especially because of all its flaws! This is why I miss him: not nostalgic about is job, I miss his honest take on reality. Meisel is not able to get this kind of result.
... but there are always small lies in the stories: Linda Evangelista donned already short hair when she posed For Donna's ( Italian great magazine) covers in 1985, when she was portrayed by Fabrizio Ferri and Giovanni Gastel 3 months without interruption. Linda's features substituted the fantastic looks of Amalia Viarelli and nobody else than Marpessa Then she left her hair to grow again, then she convinced YSL and VOGUE Paris to employ her, Then came Lindberg, teasing Julien d'ys. They cut her hair as she used to have and she became history, at least in the Fashion sphere! No! Mrs. Evangelista didn't build pyramids, but she influenced the fashion world in such an unprecedented manner, as nobody else did before and after her, thanks to PL too, not for the hair, but for is POV translated in glossy pictures. He was Helmut Newton rival, nobody less!
Just as side note, he had german nationality, due to be born in the german-occupied Poland. I wonder how his life would have been different in the event that he was born in a "regular" Poland

R.I.P to this true Master pf photography ...massive loss !! :(
My inspiration to pick up a camera, my mother was a seamstress and brought his book home when I was a teenager. RIP 🙏🏾💕
He had what most don’t, knowing how to put the subject in the right time right place!
Beautiful photos you left
R.I.P Sir.
Mr. Lindbergh re-defined fashion photography and set the bar very high for those to come.
Nice tribute, RIP Mr. Lindbergh.
Brilliant and down to earth, that's a rare combination, especially in his field! A life lived well. Kudos Herr Lindbergh!

Peter Lindbergh is the only reason I'm transitioning into fashion photography. Thanks for the inspiration.
The wrong reason then. The fashion industry is full of fake primadonnas and narcissists

Gutes Video! Habe seine Ausstellung in München gesehen. Kommt total gelassen und sympathisch rüber der Peter.
I used to keep 10 women on my desk. His work wasn't as technical as Avedon or Penn but really captured the woman's spirit.
Finally in english! thank you so much!
Exceptional piece. Loved every second.
Ich bin total begeistert 👍👍👍 Er war wirklich einer der Größten ! - in jeder Hinsicht. Nicht zu vergessen, - ein super Video 👍👍👍

Peter thank you, you are kind, thoughtful and a genius.
No silly gearholic syndrome here about eye autofocusing Sony mirrorless cameras etc.
Just raw skills.

Peter Lindbergh war ein unglaublicher Fotograf. Großen Respekt vor seinem Lebenswerk!
Shame on you DW for the unbelievable bad colors in this video!

Which one did he use? Is that 24-70?
@@MochitoMaker That looks like the 24-70 f 2.8
with which lens did he shoot?
The larger of the lenses is the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VRII. The camera looks like a D810.
Those who wonder what lenses he used, I believe one was a 24-70 f2.8 and the bigger one was a 70-200 f2.8. Correct me if I am wrong.
You are correct. Those were the lenses.
We are a lot of people not knowing about this. Does make me sad.
