    The bump on the vertical extension is to keep the trigger bar more in line with the striker safety plunger. They fixed that problem with the Gen 5 by making the safety plunger horizontal.

    Love the Gen 4 34. Long as you're not in a sandy or rocky environment where debris can get in, don't worry about the cut out. Can't wait to see the work on your Gen 3 34 comes out.

      You're right about that, I do still worry from time to time about it. Which is why I don't use it outside of the house or backpack gun. I really think the G5 non-MOS would be a winner. Hopefully Glock will help me out, but I doubt it.

      Keanon Gilliam its a non issue. As long as you dont get full on pebbles or stones in the slide you’re fine. Plenty of yt vids showing guys dumping sand in to the cut out and the gun runs just fine

      There is a G34 torture test video where they put a hand full of sand/dirt directly into the cut out but it runs flawless after that. I really was surprised.

    Glock 34 is my favorite gun to shoot, they just balance so well in your hand! I have a Gen3 and a Gen5, I just trust a Glock, I bought my first one around 1988, it’s still shooting fine, I like the G45 also, I still carry a G19 in my truck though, I’ve never had a problem with the G19. My dad just passed away and I got his 17,19,and 43. I carry a 43 mainly.

    As a Beretta 92 guy, I’m always tempted by a Glock just for cheap mags and parts but I don’t really care for a “mad max scenario” in terms of why to own one. I also love the look of the 34 but it’s hard to justify given the different manual of arms and grip angle to practice with. Idk what this itch is!

  • @JonConley
    @JonConley 6 років тому +1

    Did the undercut myself on my Gen5 G26 to save ~$130. Knuckle-cut and support-hand cut. I love it. Minimal slip-ups with the dremel; smoothed it all out with extremely fine sandpaper and CLP / water. Just make sure you round out the corners as you go. It's not that big of a deal. You can do it. :)
    Also, I recommend just keeping the beavertail. Glock-Bite is real. You won't regret keeping it on there. Some people chop the strap right under the tail and then stipple or wrap the grip. I debated but ended up just keeping it and wrapping a Talon around it. You might get away with sanding down the edges and it might be fine, too.
    If you haven't checked them out: I would suggest grabbing the Tango Down (Uncle Larry-branded) 'Slide Racker' slide cover plate replacement (inspired by the VP9's 'ears'). On older Glocks, it's just nice to have for added gripping surface; on the Gen 5 slide finish, I consider it mandatory, honestly. Not sure what they were thinking making it so slippery and brittle.
    Give it a look: tangodown.com/shop/vickers-tactical-slide-racker-gsr-03/
    They also stock those parts on Brownells (which is probably cheaper if you have a coupon).

      @@navyman8903 if you end up doing it yourself, just don't rev up the Dremel to the higher RPM setting, otherwise, it melts the plastic. Use small heads and get a felt polishing head to smooth things out with a wet polishing job. Some people use toothpaste or Flitz.
      If it's a Gen 3, there's always the Polymer80 route. :)

      I've still got it Jessi. I'm going to do an update again here soon, but I had to go out again. It's on my list of things to do and projects to knock out. I'll be sending it to Wilson in about 6 months, before I send the G34 out. I might try to sell it though when I get it finished. I'm going to try to stick to P226's, Glock 17/34, and my extensive HKs. Just for magazines, but if I love it I'll keep it. But she's still there. I'm also going to have the slide milled to take Trijicon HD's so I can carry it if I want to. I really like the gun, but I don't take it out much. I'm on the fence with it, but I'm going to see the project through to the end and get at least another 600 rounds through it to take it to 1000. But complete refresh/update with parts, and the Wilson combat job. I'll update it when I get back home. Look for the video after the holidays. (sorry for the wait, but it'll be with the new camera equipment and the nice lighting on the table.)

    Glock still didnt hear you with the none MOS 34 Gen5. I once even wrote Glock an email and asked them if they plan to offer it. Its a shame! And on the newer guns the cover plates are even made of polymer. This is a nogo! And on the new G17L they even made the dust cover from the slide out of polymer and MOS only. A long slide wit MOS doesnt even make much sense. The benefit of the longer sight radius get pointless here.

    • @navyman8903
      @navyman8903  6 років тому

      The sights are too far to the rear to install any after market sights I would want to put on there. Well, the only sights I would want to put on there, Trijicon HD's. The rear sight would be hanging off the frame. If you look at honestoutlaw's video his Glock 34 has that same issue. If you look at mine, they have the place holder sights, not the adjustable sights. So they can take the trijicon HD's without a fitment issue. Also, most dudes lose the plate over time. They always fall off and sometimes they get lost. I'd just rather not have the fitment issue or the plate I'm not going to use.

    • @TheLegoJoker
      @TheLegoJoker 6 років тому

    Great video as always. Its a Shame you don't like the 26. I own one and I like it but to each his own. So I've read one excuse about why that bump is there on the Gen 4s. Supposedly it's there to make the slide require a little more resistance to pull off when disassembling. Reason for this is because the slides were too easy to pull off the frame, and with the Gen 4s it could be a problem because the user could potentially drop it onto concrete, which might Crack the front end of the slide because of how thin the guide rod portion of the front end is to accommodate the double recoil spring. You probably can't really tell with the 34, but you can with the 19, 17, 26, etc. I've also read that it's to keep the trigger bar in line. Considering how ridiculous the excuses of Glock fan boys can be I don't really know how valid that is, but I thought I'd throw that out there.

Imo the hk45 was the worst handling of the four by quite a bit. Grip feels really good in the hand but with it being so narrow, it transfers every ounce of recoil in to your hand and wrist. Plus its snappy as hell, like .40 +p in a 4” barrel gun snappy. Sold that pos quite quickly

    It’s absolutely hilarious to watch you evolve into Glock. Hk’s are fashion statements for keyboard warriors. Real men chose Glock. Welcome to the dark side.🇺🇸🗽🦅🇦🇹

      I own just 2 guns.a mark23 and a glock 21.the glock is my duty weapon.I trust it with my life but if you think a glock any glock is betten than a usp match then you dont know nothing

      Pandemonikus Superbus you don’t own the pistol you speak of... so there’s that. It’s “better than a USP” not “betten”, and it’s “don’t know ANYTHING” not “ don’t know nothing”. On top of all that I didn’t say ANYTHING about the USP! So, sit down and STFU!🤨 🇺🇸🗽🦅🇦🇹

      Pandemonikus Superbus I wasn’t intentionally trying to be rude. My apologies. I do not have any combat experience, so you could teach me. All this being said, I do know firearms. The USP is an excellent pistol. The vp9 is not. In my experience, I haven’t had issues with Glock pistols. 🇺🇸🗽🦅🇦🇹

      @@chuckdriver7741 thank you.for being nice now you have my respect.and I agree the vp9 was reduced in terms of quality.I handled p30s and hk45s.good pistols but not usps.the quality in the metal the finish and overall compared to the usp are obvious.my glock 21 gen 3 is 18 years old and the finish is still durable.
