Thank you for the videos, the quality is great! I had a question by the way. Do your Glocks have the beaver tail backstraps put on, and if so are they the medium or large ones?
The round is not hanging up in the chamber. The Gen 5’s put a small machined pocket on the lower side of the breech face opposite the extractor. This was a rolling change in the Gen 5’s, so some early ones don’t have it. This was done to hold the round’s rim in place when the slide cycles, resulting in a stronger ejection vs. the Gen 4. This means slowly removing the round from the chamber will result in the slide “catching” as you pull it back. It will get slightly better over time. Rack the slide hard to avoid. Thanks for the video.
I absolutely love my G34.5....It's super soft shooting and the lock up is tighter than any other Glock I own or have owned. The trigger is also really nice and I have no plans to replace it.
Its crazy how similar your views are to mine. I love the new finish on the Gen 5s. Its so dark and very slick. I also love the Glock 34 but don't want to to put an optic on mine. The only thing I don't like on the Gen 5 are the front cocking serrations. I managed to find an early model Gen 5 Glock 19 without the front cocking serrations and it looked great, but like you said, I don't like it. Its a great, very reputable weapon and I carry one for duty, but it doesn't fit my hand very well. My Gen 4 Glock 34 fits my hand almost better than most other guns. I managed to find mine used with the early tenifer finish. I'm used to carrying full size guns so I carry this concealed in a Crossbreed super tuck IWB holster and it's very comfortable. I enjoyed the video!
But on the early Gen 5 without the FS th frame doesnt match the slide and you have that half moon cut out in the front of the grip. But I dont like the FS either. And I dont want an MOS 34.
@Brooklyn Boi I have not measured every single weapon mounted light in existence so I can neither confirm nor deny your claim. However, I will point out that the Glock 34 has a 5.3 inch barrel, and your statement really doesn't have anything to do with I what I said. Thanks though.
Speaking to your chamber tightness comments. Glock changed the shape of the ejector on the Gen 5 from the Gen 4. This makes the chamber feel so much tighter and downloading the gun the slide needs to be pulled back firmly or the casing rim sits against the ejector and it will prevent you from going all the way to the rear unless you really give it more gas. Easier to just do it firmly from the get go. You can also see this one videos of people running the Gen 4s vs the Gen 5s. Gen 5s send spent casings into the next county. Gen 4 ejection looks limp dick by comparison.
I saw this on my 19g5 vs my g4. However, I sent my gen4 back to Glock to have it refurbed. The only thing that came back original was the frame slide and barrel. The gun never shot as well as it does now. Like night and day difference. Just my 2c.
Finally got one in at my local store and I instantly put it in LA .. But alas , I reluctantly I had to put it back on the shelf so I can afford the 16 inch MCX I have always wanted. I had a Gen 4 , but I wanted a Gen 5 because the grip is so much better for my medium small hands. It feels just like my 19X , and although I never minded the finger grooves on the Gen 4 it was a thicker grip and I like the Gen 5 wayyyyy better. One of my favorite firearms OAT. I will get one , I will just have to wait. Good job as always. Peace.
I'm likely picking up one of these this weekend, and I'm pumped. I'm a little nervous it's going to spoil the 17 Gen 5 for me, which is my (current) favorite. But I think it is worth it.
For me the g34 is the best striker fired pistol out there. Yes, better than the 320 legion, canik rival, pdp. You can keep all that stuff. I slapped a sro on my new g34 and put in an overwatch trigger. Last weekend i nailed a clay pigeon at 50 yards on the 2nd shot with it. Call bs if you want. There were about 30 witnesses. Completely blew me away with that kind of performance. Love it so much I'm buying another as a backup.
Some of the reasons that you may be having issues with rocking a round out, is due to the fact from the research that I found with gen 5s not quite sure if it’s just the 34s but if you’re looking over the top of your slide and looking down at your breech face, there’s a little notch cut out on the left side of the breech face I can’t remember the reasoning that they did that but apparently Glock has stated that that could be the issue but there’s no kind of reliability issue when shooting
the 34 is the only 9mm glock i have not owned. so i recently bought a 34 Gen 5 MOS. also picked up a X300 turbo for it. probably wont get a dot for it but i like the option if i ever decide to in the future.
I own both a Glock 45 a Gen 3 Glock 34 and a Gen 4 Glock 35. I really appreciate the straight front strap of the G 45 (no finger grooves) and for a guy who cut his teeth on 1911’s I find that G 45 comfortable in my hand. I have broad beefy palms with short and now very arthritic fingers. That have made those finger groves of the older generation Glocks awkward and uncomfortable as I’ve aged. Watching this video I find myself leaning strongly toward trading the Gen 3- 34 for a Gen 5. I love the grip on the G 45 and the factory trigger gets better with use. If the trigger of the Gen 5 Glock 34 is better then I think I’ll like the Gen 5.
The finger groves don't bother me at all because, and this is a little known fact, I'm a hand model for Glock so they're based on my fingers(which are beautiful). However, that said I prefer Gen 5.5. I don't have a G34 but I have a G17 5.5 and a G45 and I love both of them. Eventually I'll get a G34 but next on my list is either a G19(even tho I have a G43x lmao), an Mp5(clone, probably a PTR or something, I'm too poor for an SP5 even with my new job), or a new Akm.
Excellentreview, thank you!! I’ve watched about 5 or 6 G34 gen 5 reviews and you are the first to mention the lightning of the slide on the inside. I was wondering how they solved that, because the cut out always seemed to be “relevant” to compensate for the heavier slide. Even more so now that optics are common.
The G34 is the best Glock gun period. And if you’ve ever edc’d it, you’ll know it’s really not difficult to carry, especially appendix. It balances really well, and it’s light.
I had a buddy buy a 34 secretly after he shot mine. He didn't tell me about it until he casually mentioned he was shooting his to me in conversation. I was like dude you bought a 34? How come you didn't tell me? So weird.

I have trijicon hd xr’s with the yellow front post on my 29 gen 3 sf and man what a great sight! I prefer the yellow over the orange, it seems to catch my eye better in all light conditions. Great review! Take care.
I think there's a good use case for either no dot or a dot, so I'm not worried about either. Just depends on what you shoot better or whether you have night vision or not honestly
Personally, I like shooting both, dots and irons. I have an RMR on my G19 and Trijicon HDs on my G17. If get a G34, which I might, I’ll probably have my G17 milled for an ACRO and run the G34 with Irons, instead of slapping the ACRO on the MOS Glock because if I’m gonna run one of them with irons anyway, it might as well be the G34 so I can benefit from the longer sight radius. But i guess it’s all subjective
I have recently inherited glock 34 gen 3 (not MOS) from my uncle, can you please tell me wich torch you using on it? And do you like it, and is posible to find owb holster for it? Thanks
@@navyman8903 right seems like kinda nothing. But I’m am engineer and the details like that bug me. Especially since they corrected it on “older” generation guns… that being said, Gen 5 glocks are my go to
Nearly all pistols have daylight showing between the slide and frame when held up to light. I agree, sloppy designs. None of that with my family of CZ'S. My only plastic pistols ? VP70Z G17L Gen3 G34 Gen5
Regarding the lockup. I saw in another review that, contrary to your statement, the guide rod in the Gen 5 G34 is no longer identical to that of the G17, but ever so slightly longer. This apparently results in aftermarket recoil springs for the gen 4 G17 to be a little too short / not firm enough to work with the gen 5 G34. Now I know you are using a factory recoil spring assembly, but perhaps you mixed up your G17 and G34 guide rods. I don’t know if this is true, i only saw it in other reviews, but thought it might help…
Just picked up one of these. I took it to the range and attempted to run 100 rounds of PMC 115gr and had multiple failures to feed. Have you had any reliability with 115gr?
Your assessment on the g34 seems spot on. Both of my g34 gen5’s have sloppy lock ups( which concern me greatly) Fortunately they do not have the tight chamber issues ,that some are experiencing , and both have run flawlessly. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Bob Vogel. Shoots a gen 3 34 and 35. If you’re not aware of who Bob is, google him. The gen 5 lockup is much tighter than the gen 3s. You shouldn’t be concerned.
I read a comment from someone on another video saying it’s a Gen 5 thing. He said it’s something to do with how they did the breech face but I can’t recall exactly what it was. My G45 also wants to hang on and will eat up a case if I load it too many times. Until I read his comment I thought I had an extra clingy, psycho ex girlfriend level extractor. 😂
Does Trijicon sell the HD XR MOS separate or did those come on it? I have the Trijicon Fiber optic ones on my 34 gen4 and they hang off the back and have shifted on me during matches
@@navyman8903 it’s the factory finish but they don’t have a fiber model that’s MOS cut so you get that extra hang. But they don’t rust like my Dawson’s would
Had a Gen 4 but the finger grooves didn’t agree with my fat fingers so the Gen 5 was a no brainer for me. Bought it more for fun than for carry (though I might decide to carry it from time to time) so it’s spending a year or so with the fine folks at Taran Tactical for the Combat Master treatment. Planning to pick up a G17 to go with my G45 in the near future. I agree that the Trijicons are better but the Ameriglo sights don’t bother me so if I find a G17 with Ameriglos I’ll leave it as is. It’s funny that you’re not a dot guy. I’m not either. Got nothing against them. The astigmatism I have in both eyes blurs the crap out of it even with corrective lenses and it’s another thing to possibly go wrong so I’ll stick with my irons as long as I can see to shoot with them.
You and I are same same with the dots and the finger grooves. I'm not opposed to the Ameriglos like you were saying, but the trij HDs are so much better for me. I really do love these new Glocks. The 17 and 34 cover all of my bases, I did shoot a G45 recently and it shot alright. I might get one we'll see.
Looking for my first full size pistol. I was checking out the g34 gen 5, cz sp01 / p09, sig 226. Kind of want a da/sa since I already have a g48 mos. Do you have any suggestions on a first full size pistol? Saw your 226 videos
love my 34 g 5 it's pretty accurate ,your light and sights are sweet,my lock up really tight with or without a round and easy on the casing that's would concern me to
I bought a P320 XFULL a year ago to be my primary red dot gun, but I just sold it because the trigger was horrible. It was shit out of the box, and somehow didn't improve after 1000+ rounds and lots of dry fire (post recall gun). I'll probably pick up a CZ P10F OR over the G34 because its $200 bucks cheaper #poorlife (I'm not in the US)
Skip the pdp. I have the full size 5”. Trigger, ergos and grip texture are top notch. But shooting it is very unpleasant. Its like shooting a .40 with +p. Mine is going to get chunk ported to make it enjoyable and will be relegated to a range only gun.
I love my HKs so I can't cosign on that statement. But I will say Glock really got me hooked on the gen 5.5 and they market better. I still prefer a USP/P30/HK45 to a glock. But I've really started to appreciate the glocks lately. I respect them for their price point and what they bring to the table.
Never cared for Glocks, oh tired many times. Then I bought a G19X and put the grip with the beavertail grip and it's perfect. Gen 5 is where it's at. A lot of people poop on the peanut butter mullet 19x. I like it, because I can put a thread barrel in it and take up the same size slide footprint of a G17.
If the chamber is THAT tight, I would test ammo with it and keep to that ammo while carrying at least... you do not want a situation where that chamber does not like a certain ammo and you get a fail during life or death... I would suggest buying a few boxes of Federal 9BPLE... it was designed to operate in the 'newer' finicky production autos that were coming of age in law enforcement in the 80's for pure reliability... it has a tapered closed nose on the bullet ...but it's ok, it's going almost 1400 out of that 5 inch barrel.. it will open up like a girl who walks up and down Figueroa... that round also has a 90% one shot stop rate on the street...
It runs everything live fire it's just snug. But I agree with you that you should run whatever you're going to use out of it. I've followed that practice for a while. I'll look into that ammo.

try the G26. It prints less than the 43x and shoots better to say the least. Use the 12 round oem mag with the 26 to get your pinky on there. The g43x shield arms mags are trash so you are limited to 10 round mags for the g43x. If shield arms couldn't get them right the first time forget them. Mags should be simple enough to make reliable by now. I ditched mine after having issues.

Why you bought it? In the older video about the 34 gen 4 you said you dont want a MOS version of the gen 5 34. And the gap between the slide and frame here is rediculous. Looks like you still got one with metal cover plate. On the newest its out of polymer. No thanks.
The half moon cur in the mag well that was "used for stripping a magazine." They also don't have front slide serrations, and the 17s and 19s didn't have the frame beveled to match the slide.

Funny you should say that. I'm stocking some Federal 147gr HPs now.
I have recently inherited glock 34 gen 3 (not MOS) from my uncle, can you please tell me wich torch you using on it? And do you like it, and is posible to find owb holster for it? Thanks
Surefire X300 and yes they're on all my pistols.
The 1k lumen is what I have the most of, but I'm buying X300 Turbos from here on out.
Prefer 19x size for carry. Also hate the space in front of the locking block that you can see through if you look at the slide lock cut on the slide
The gap is concerning and significant. But it hasn't stopped running for me either. I still am concerned with it though.
VP70Z
G17L Gen3
G34 Gen5
This or VP-9L optics model?
They both shot smoothly. I like the VP9L better than the standard VP9. But if you're using it for something serious I would say the G34.
What’s your opinion on the Surefire X300U vs a TLR1-HL?
I prefer the Surefire X300UB.
Great review and pistol…best Armageddon OWB pistol out there. Played with one at Bass Pro in Grapevine, sooooo much better than the Gen4 trigger.
Leaps and bounds better than the Gen4. So much smoother to shoot too.
At 4:09 , so you’re telling me a Glock 34 with 17+1 = 34 oz ???
*_Glock Perfection™️ Indeed_*
That was well planned on their part.
The G5 17 RSAs are 2 coils longer than the G4 17 RSAs and the 34 for each gen uses the 17 RSA.
Thanks for clarifying
Just picked up one of these. I took it to the range and attempted to run 100 rounds of PMC 115gr and had multiple failures to feed. Have you had any reliability with 115gr?
yes on the 17, just at the beginning. 115 had stovetops. no issues after first 300.
My Glock 19 Gen 5 won’t let go of a round as well!! Glad you noticed that too.
Glad it's not just me, but it's also bad it's not just me.
@@TheLegoJoker Extra clingy ex girlfriend level extractor. I might use that later.
Can second this, it's definitely a gen 5 thing.
Later gen 5s added a breechface cut to aid in extraction and ejection. Earlier gen 5 doesn’t have this. I have both, breechface cut ejects way farther
so.... what your saying is i should buy another 34 instead of this 17 im looking at.... ok on it.
I mean.......both?
Does Trijicon sell the HD XR MOS separate or did those come on it? I have the Trijicon Fiber optic ones on my 34 gen4 and they hang off the back and have shifted on me during matches
They were sold separately and I haven't had them shift on me. Is your slide coated with an aftermarket finish?
@@navyman8903 it’s the factory finish but they don’t have a fiber model that’s MOS cut so you get that extra hang. But they don’t rust like my Dawson’s would
Playing with fire with that movie clip 😂👍🏾
I try to walk on the line as much as possible.
pretty sure Texas Red had one of these, cuz he didn't clear leather
Is there any G34 gen 5 without front slide serration?
Wait wick AND creasy bear got the 34??? Purchasing!!!
Thank you for wise and detailed videos. Top notch
Thank you for this video.
Thanks for watching.
Am I one of the few (few is relative) that get terrible glock finger when practicing? Do you not have that issue?
I haven't gotten it, but I may do an undercut regardless.
I had that issue with the g3 19 but haven’t ever felt it on the gen 5s
Saw your 226 videos
great video. Thanks for sharing.
What is a Gen 5.5? It’s clearly stamped Gen 5 on the slide.
When they deleted the half moon cut in the grip, and rounded the frames to match the slide.
Great review and description for use, the lockup would give me some concerns as well.
Rick
Thanks and always good to see you in the comments.
my next purchase G34 gen 5 MOS 💯 !!! I got G17 gen 5 , G42 gen4
Good choice!
love my 34 g 5 it's pretty accurate ,your light and sights are sweet,my lock up really tight with or without a round and easy on the casing that's would concern me to
I bought a P320 XFULL a year ago to be my primary red dot gun, but I just sold it because the trigger was horrible. It was shit out of the box, and somehow didn't improve after 1000+ rounds and lots of dry fire (post recall gun).
I'll probably pick up a CZ P10F OR over the G34 because its $200 bucks cheaper #poorlife
(I'm not in the US)
A lot of people like the PDP. Probably worth looking at.
@@sundin5646 agreed . The new pdp blows a g34 out of the water.
Skip the pdp. I have the full size 5”. Trigger, ergos and grip texture are top notch. But shooting it is very unpleasant. Its like shooting a .40 with +p. Mine is going to get chunk ported to make it enjoyable and will be relegated to a range only gun.
At the end of the day, Glock is still the king of the plastic pistols
I love my HKs so I can't cosign on that statement. But I will say Glock really got me hooked on the gen 5.5 and they market better. I still prefer a USP/P30/HK45 to a glock. But I've really started to appreciate the glocks lately. I respect them for their price point and what they bring to the table.
Thank you brother! Great video. Great info.
I have the g34 gen3 and the gen5. I’ll sell my gen5 before I part with my gen3.
If I get a 19x I'm calling it the peanut butter mullet.
I have the 45 can confirm mullet is perfect
@@navyman8903 Not if, but when
If the chamber is THAT tight, I would test ammo with it and keep to that ammo while carrying at least... you do not want a situation where that chamber does not like a certain ammo and you get a fail during life or death...

How do you like it?
I've had a gen3 34 for a while, love it (besides the finger grooves lol) newer version would be nice but there's several different random glock models I wanna pick up.
Fired a 43x for the first time last week and it shot way better than I expected.
Also really wanna get a 19mos for that new holosun scs...
So I'm doing the only logical thing and blowing all my money on AR parts 👍
Lol isn't that always the way of things? All these best laid plans.
try the G26.
@@Kevinj36541 I hear people
un-ironically saying that if Shield couldn’t get their mags right the first time why bother…as they hold a GEN5 GLOCK X with a TYPE 2 RMR and an X300U 🤣
@@JEJAK5396 the gun still fires if those fail, but ok
@@Kevinj36541 Improvements to a design shouldn’t be viewed with contempt. The idea that every man made item must be perfect from the word go is fatally flawed.
Why you bought it? In the older video about the 34 gen 4 you said you dont want a MOS version of the gen 5 34. And the gap between the slide and frame here is rediculous. Looks like you still got one with metal cover plate. On the newest its out of polymer. No thanks.
The justice part made me “lol”
Glad someone liked it.
Having been a glocktard for some years I repented and went HK. How does one tell the difference between Gen 5 and 5.5. Asking for a friend😝
The half moon cur in the mag well that was "used for stripping a magazine." They also don't have front slide serrations, and the 17s and 19s didn't have the frame beveled to match the slide.
Opinions on the LTT Striker Control Device? Fair warning I want confirmation that it is cool so I will bitch and whine if you don't like it. (not really)
Lol I haven't had the chance to check one out yet. If I do, I'll give you a shout.

I think I just need to buy and shoot all the 9mm glocks for a while before I can really decide which I don't need.
Glock 17lL for sure
Must’ve gotten one with a loose tolerance on the lock up, mine barely moves at all
You're definitely the exception to the rule based on comments I've received on my G17 is best glock video and the G5.5 34s I've played with in person. Overwhelming majority is like mine plus or minus a little play.
@@navyman8903 that’s crazy… guess I lucked out, the g5 17 I have is the same way…. I watched a Taran Butler video where he talks about the lock up on g5’s and he said u should expect very little play because Glocks with a lot of play “wanna shoot like a paintball gun” lol🤷🏻♂️
