- Last week something felt off about the Shadow Legions operations on Earth. Capturing humans, but not killing them and setting up an ambush on our guardian inside the pyramid. This week, we visit another Shadow Legion Prison in Earth’s Orbit, get a new Amanda Holiday cutscene and catch up with our old pal Eramis

Did I catch the first week's story wrong? Amanda wasn't really "captured" she snuck into the prison and got into the cell on purpose so the tracker she had on her would lead us to where we needed to go I thought was how it went down?
she couldn't get out afterwards, there is a line where she said she wouldn't have been able to get out without mara sov
They were so close to having a good story in lightfall. So damn close. Why did we just go strandin the whole time. Why.

@@MrTytyjohn64 Lightfall is a year long story, not just the first campaign. The campaign opens up the story and gets you asking questions and hopefully over the year most get answered.

A lot of Amanda's story we already knew from lore, but nice to have it in the story in a cutscene so more people have the opportunity to learn about her.

So in the Zavala’s life trailer cutscene, that little girl next to zavala while they were standing on the finished city walls was Amanda.
Wait? Devrom was a paratrooper? He must have some good stories on him. I hope they shine more on his backstory but love that gentleman all the same!
He had a story where he put the jumpship on autopilot and parachuted off and fired back with a sniper rifle while protecting the caravan.

The Rain of Fire exotic legs from the Warlocks talked about this story, funny enough. He was known as the most terrifying human to Eliksni (just second behind Saint 14), so knowing this only makes it more believable. 😁
Speculation: Witness wants to syphon life/light/consciousness from the living, remember the Miasma and Holliday describing the prison as being ‘heavy’ or ‘suffocating’.
It is plausible to me that, given the implications of strand, and the comments here by Mara on our influence in the ascendant plane, that we have walked into a trap.
We ‘weave’ ourselves into the strands of others when we rescue them, the witness ‘taints’ their strands, syphoning light and life from them and us, tainting/twisting the echoes of our actions in the ascendant plane, preparing to take the last hope we can cling to.
The more we save, the greater the drain, the deeper we drive the taint into the ascendant plane when the final move is made.
While that would be an interesting twist, they just did that last season. I get reusing plot points, but that would be kind of absurd.

It is not enough for the witness to simply ‘stop’ the traveller, to achieve its goal, it would have to end consciousness.
And for a year of Destiny that is supposed to be about seeing how we respond when our hope is taken away, things are going far too smoothly for my liking.
I genuinely hate Erimis and line of logic, she literally working with those who destroyed your home in the first place.
Yes, this is a poorly written character. Her logic is understandable, but she's stupid.
Yea it's a pretty terrible character motivation, BUT, I thought those bewitched by the Witness (those that heard and accepted the voice in the dark) suffer from warped minds. Maybe it's just that her judgement is clouded by the Witness?
All I could think of while watching the cut scene and all this season so far is 'Don't you do it, don't you dare kill her Bungie'

I like that Amanda is coming into the story more now. She definitely deserved this. I've liked her ever since I started this game.
As a guardian I loved seeing the interaction between Mithrax and Amanda and the story is just getting better

No, the ships are different (we literally see it from the outside). Presage is like an Arm's dealer strike. In the battleground - like in the Ghaul ship from the first mission.

Really enjoyed this week’s story, especially the fact that the battlegrounds this week was essentially “Fuck you, space can’t keep you safe.”

I love this seasons story. Amanda and Devrim were really under-used characters (same like Sloane back then when Titan was still around). I'm glad they now got a time to shine.

This is further proof that the cutscene we got early on was not meant to happen on Earth. Look at the hangar bay, this is clearly where Amanda was supposed to be held captive

I'm digging how some of the featured characters have similar rivals (for ex. Mithrax/Eramis, Caitl/Calus, etc.) I hope we get a Savathun vs Xivu Arath because that would be pretty amazing.
Savathun herself said in lore that she would not be an ally, and we are already in coalition with the cabals who hate her.
My favorite part was seeing the prison ship had the look of a covenant spirit

Oh boy. Eramis again.
All she does is just make up excuses at this point. Humans and the Eliksni of House Light stand as equals. Eramis bows to the Witness and Xivu Arath and let them defile her own House.
Humanity had a very good reason to kill Fallen because they raided our settlements and killed us without hesitation or discrimination. Eramis serves a monster that drove her people to the brink of extinction, who were peaceful at that time.
She says Eido and Mithrax are the future of the Eliksni, but instead of joining House Light or at least helping us in our struggle, she chooses to stand in the way of that future.
All Eramis's speeches of "wanting what's best" are just excuses for her to be a loathsome devil.
If she leaves the Witness, she will have to get out with ALL of her people of house Salvation. That is the true reason why she stays, because if she leaves, her people will pay the price. And Phyzaan will take her place.
(Seriously, why is no one talking about Phyzaan theories?!)

Also, I really doubt she's really that concerned about running. I mean she clearly didn't think about her people when she let the Vex loose on Europa. And even then, the Witness won't care to spare the resources to go kill a few useless runaways.

And yes, Phyzaan the drowned captain has been empowered by the Witness. And I'm making a comic concept for that character as a disciple. He's really interesting to think about.
Also, what has happened to the Witness now that it went through the portal? Is it still there to influence, or is it's influence passed until they return?
If it's gone, that'll give us some time to knock some sense into it's forces.
Mainly the ones that make me cry. Such as Eramis.
I guess the one thing people don't have these days is the perseverance to keep trying to change someone until they die in your arms or out of your reach.

Is that the kind of "Hero" you want the universe to recognize you as?
Or would you want to be remembered for this:
"No matter how many times they curse me, no matter how many things they do to hurt me or themselves, I will wait for them with open arms and gentle hands."
That is the kind of hero I want to be in this universe of pain and loss. I want to be compassionate, I want to be an actual hero. Who cares about the fancy new gun, who cares if I even get a new gun. I only want to see characters I feel sorry for come to realize it, and I will wait for it until the day they die.

I wouldn't be surprised if the witness is trying to create darkness guardians or looking into our biology to see why the traveler chose us as guardians originally
Super weird to have the prisoners in a easily accessible area like a hanger bay. “We can’t get there” but somebody could theoretically get there and a hanger bay is a big hole inside the ship. Brigs or prisons are deep within, through multiple layers of security.
Or maybe they have the prisoners there for a hostage situation? You come on and they space them?
has no one noticed the giant pool of radiolaria below the prison or am i over analyzing it might tie in with the sol devisive fighting taken over the black heart as the mission opens up with shadow legion and taken
So wait do we like, know why Eramis goes so hard about "they killed us for centuries" like, I get that they kinda touched on how traumatic it was for the eliksni too with Saint's story, but is there a reason she pretends like they weren't pirates that slaughtered civilians and children that I missed?
lightfall kinda made me quit again so it's nice to get these updates
Am I the only one who logged in after reset and saw Lord Saladin was at the tower? When I switched characters n went back to tower he was gone wth
iron banner was in pvp rotation, tried to find a match and at 11/12 players got kicked to the log screen and saladin was gone

Devrim was likely part of a unit of scouts for the last city or something in his prime considering his skill set which may have involved him dropping into enemy territory around the EDZ perhaps

@@EnvisionedBlindness Can't support on the same game on the same engine forever, the animation gameplay and such are limited and haven't truly changed since base game of Destiny 2, only way of Destiny 2 need an overhaul is to start from scratch, build from the ground up, cannot support the same game forever, look at GTA Online and how long that has been going, both games limited from a technology that has been long passed its prime, time for a new game tbh, and will probably soon happen after a good few dlcs and such, just saying tbh

Eramis annoying as hell. She wants the Eliksni to be “dancers” and “weavers” again but when was the last time her house had the time or motivation to pursue things outside of combat or being turned into Scorn? House of Light literally has bar parties and drinks almost on a daily basis but somehow they’re the ones who are wrong in her eyes?
She'll get out eventually, my only hope in Destiny right now is that she finds her way out even if she has to die to do it. Much rather she died trying to redeem herself rather than die believing she was on the right the whole time.
It's kind of like a catholic watching a satanist, the satanist is evil but the catholic loves them anyway, so he prays that satanist redeems themselves. But there is still that sinking feeling that it won't happen, but the catholic shrugs it off for what they hope for.
That's my thoughts on Eramis right now, and as my nature, I just can't hate someone unless there is absolutely nothing left (Like Jack Horner, but I can't hate him because he was hilarious!!). Eramis has a soul left, it just has to break free. One way, or another. Whether she lives or dies.

We're really bad at talking sense to those of our enemies who're willing to hold a conversation. Why didn't Mithraks remind that b that the Witness is kinda sort of not working on any future going on, not for the Elixny, not for enyone else, it's actively ending the material Universe! That is one arguement we should really use more often, some of the folks we're against, don't seem to get it. Instead the two bug-people talk shit about each other the way they did 20 times already and we didn't even hear, why Eramis called in the first place. Despite all of wierd ways the plot went lately, I'm still invested, but things like that bother me. A lot.
I don't think eramis understands we gave a chance for house light to live we gave them home all that we asked in return was the endless night to be fixed and it was we left them let them thrive and now eramis says that we will never give them that future while the witness was the cause of the whirlwind and the collapse and wants to bring about the end of all eramis had her chance to restore her home planet (if it's still there or blown up) but her and aksis had the chance to do so but chooses not too but too gain power and vengeance eramis with stasis and aksis with siva

I pray for the opposite, I don't want to shove her in a hole and bury her. How could you morally bring yourself to do something like that when you know she can be saved with the right words? The words no guardian has any heart to tell her in person as they are hateful of anything on the opposite side.

Cabal siege on a city inhabited by humanity in pursuit of paracausal macguffin. Traveler also under attack. Grandiose Cabal, who seeks to approval and power of paracausal god, as a final boss. Guardian needing to gain a power to combat the main threat (they even have "shard of Traveler/ fast regen light" scenarios with the strand training missions)... there's definitely a few similarities lol
