Rest in Peace John Wysocki. This band within the last six months has really resonated with me and it's so sad to see one of the founding members die at such a young age. I keep coming back to this live set over any other band's live set ever. Wysocki's style was bone-chilling, while it wasn't super complicated or intense, John's taken simpler drum riffs and fills and turned them into something else. Hopefully someone else can help me describe it
Absolutely incredible representation of what Staind was at their peak; raw, intense, powerful, meaningful. Such an underrated group early in their career.
@@puffthepimp it absolutely has gotten stronger and better.. his voice in Noblesville this year I hate to say but was better than this. It was incredible
I think Aaron is crying while singing outside, there songs are so deep and heavy. unlike music today talking all about having fun and a good time. Staind actually puts time and effort into there lyrics.
Llama Face76 You’re goddamn right about that. Outside is a big heavy-hitter for me. A lot of songs of 14 SOG are extremely personal to Aaron, hence why I think most of them are rarely performed live. I surely hope to see the boys gives us another album.
@@Divine_Serpent_Geh Outside is from Break the Cycle. And I saw their tours for Dysfunction, Break the Cycle, 14 Shades of Grey, and Chapter V and I definitely remember them playing plenty of songs off 14 Shades. I remember that concert specifically cuz I caught one of Mike’s picks at the end and they opened with Intro, which I was totally expecting even though it’s the last song on the album.
This is my all time favorite concert from Staind. They were at their best here, and everything was played just perfectly :) Also one of the only concerts they OPENED with Mudshovel and didn't close with it ;)
Aaron Lewis's vocals in this set have arguably never been surpassed at least by any of the live sets that they recorded. His vocal endurance and range were just fucking outstanding. The astonishing thing is he still sings c.2019 close to or at the same level while puffing on and inhaling the fumes of a combustible object. At the same time the band is definitely missing the powerful snare of Wysocki's drumming though. He just gave their music is an underlying momentum and deep pulsating energy that it is just completely absent now. The current drummer's great but I don't know whether its his snare tuning, or kit or just physical strength but it seems like an intangible component of their sound is missing.
Gotta agree with ya I miss Jon too; as an original member he just knew how to make everything click with Mike and Johnny. Sal will get there in time, but I miss Jon. They feel incomplete without him
Jon’s drumming on Break the Cycle and 14 Shades made me want to pick up the sticks. The grooves are precise and tasteful and fit the rest of the band’s performance like a glove. New drummer is still very good, but in my personal opinion he can’t replicate the lightning in a bottle that was their first 3 records
