No cigarettes were harmed in the making of this documentary.
Special thanks to Marlboro.
Me personally i thought use Newport menthols.
@@Chrisdead27 Newports are okay but I've had better menthols for cheaper.
Actually native spirit
@@PitbullN.C. did ya mean American Spirit? 😮
I feel like 75% of the time when Aaron’s smoking it’s weed lmao
I have so much respect for Johnny. Being an engineer in this type of situation would be so unbelievably stressful.
that bassist is just, ya whatever, all smiles, nothing ever bothers him. to me, hes the most level headed person in this group.
Yes gotta love Johnny April AKA old-school 😍 ❤💋🤟
Hearing Aaron talk about the kid who died by suicide to Outside is really heartbreaking...
That's fucked up to hear
Listen to the song called waste from staind. Staind lead singer Aaron Lewis wrote this song after a woman approached him on his tour bus after a show in Detroit. She explained that her son had committed suicide, and had left tickets for that night's concert behind. Lewis sat in the bus with a stew of emotions going though his head, which he channeled into "Waste."
@@StewNewmanDamn. I heard something about that. Do you know any details on the guy who committed suicide to the song outside? Was it a song he was listening to while he hung himself or something?
Alot of stainds songs are very emotional.
Yea that was a hard pill to swallow. I couldn't even fathom going through that or reading that or being the parents to find that
their music pushes people over the edge. they have blood on their hands.
This dude has no idea what his music has meant to me. Growing up with all kind of shit around me, his music has helped alot. I know countless of people has probably said that, but yeah.. Love this guy!
Amen
so that's why staind doesn't have a single bad song, they put a shit ton of effort in and it shows
This video really shows that band is like a marriage and after 16 years things get complicated and that’s natural, but noticing weariness in the eyes of each member made me really said. Everything ends so as the times of good bands and good music. Thank you for the songs and records you’ve given to us!
One of the best vocalists across all genres, certainly one of the most unique voices ever. When Aaron opens his mouth I’m completely consumed by the nostalgia feelings all GenXers feel from his music.
I can't stand when a lot of people say that Staind were going shitty after Dysfunction. I find Break The Cycle and even 14 Shades Of Grey to be great Staind albums, based on opinion, I think Break The Cycle is one of their very best records and it was the one that got me into Staind.
A band cant write the same kind of songs over and over again, some people dont understand that. If they wrote every album to be like dysfunction the complaints would change to "this sounds indentical to dysfunction". So whether people like it or not, bands change over the years. The great bands do it succesfully. Look at a band like pearl jam. nothing they put out after VS. sounded anything like their early days but it was kick ass! Staind has done a similar thing, and I understand why some dont like it but I love it and so do alot of people so whatever
People are idiots and will always find something to bitch and complain about. Staind has never put out a "shitty" album. I guess the fucking idiots expect a band to put out the same sounds over and over and over again.
miningproject01 love chapter V
Their album after Distinction are great Staind has no such thing as a bad album but I'm not gonna lie, they sound perfect when they come up with their havyest shit.
miningproject01 yeah but i honestly think that Dysfunction is their best
This producer is incredible. His artist management skills... Ugh. Awesome :)
As a engineer myself I would’ve been like gtfo 🤣
LOL nope, still.
Jon, Aaron and Mike are always in feud. And there is Johnny, who laugh as always :D
Mike and Aaron are more like best friends. Fight sometimes but mostly get along
@@spider-menjacob5855yeah they got a great Vibe together is the Aries Aries and they're both April only 3 days apart❤
So fascinating that during recording this appeared to be the end of Staind and it ended up being their best album since Break the Cycle.
Weird how that happens sometimes. Sometimes a tumultuous relationship between the band members makes the best albums. A great example would be Iowa by Slipknot
You believe this record was better than 14 shades of Grey?? 😅😅😅
@@thechemi5083 by a mile
@@thechemi508314 shades of gray was decent this album is one of their best
Ive watched this probably 3 times and I always wanna come back and see it again
+SuperGosen4 I know right?
+jason parmelee in my world yes
What is the Helmet song Aaron is referencing 25:18?
Shelton Mobley Unsung
Yep, this is my second time.
I absolutely love this band and Aaron Lewis has been my hero since I was around 12 years old. A friend of mine went to a Staind concert and was able to get his hands on a Tormented album. He played "Mudshuvel" for me and I was instantly addicted. As a teenager, my wall was full of Staind posters, tons of Staind Tshirts, anticipated the release of every new album and kept up with current events.
Their music has helped me get through some shitty times in my life, the worst being the death of my father when I was 14 and struggling with heroin addiction.
One of my favorite past times is sitting here with my daughter watching videos of Aaron Lewis playing live acoustic shows. She's only 12 months, but she loves Staind already.
Tormented is so badass and so very underrated and I wish it gained just as much attention as dysfunction and break the cycle
@@gijoeofficial1314
Amen...
You ain't alone bro
your story is quite common. i hear stories like this often. sounded like a pretty normal adolescence
Staind helped me cope with depression sadness anxiety, so arron lewis is good shit , keep us alive keep us going
This is the third time watching this. So glad they are back together. Got my tickets to see them this summer.
If Staind goes on tour again I’m going to see them and it’ll be a huge success for them. We’re waiting for the return.
Happening this year
Try now.
Only if Aaron leaves his arrogance at the door.. seen them twice and he was both the best and worth thing about the show.......
In one show in Birmingham, He cut one acoustic song short and on another he just sang away from the mic so only like the first few rows could hear.
Then He started an argument with the drummer and skipped the song from the set..... so he cut our show short by three songs.....
You could see mike getting pissed off with him.
Guess what I heard? Staind is making music for the first time since 2010...
Me, too.
First show on May 21, 2011 Rock On The Range Columbus, OH
I was there for that
9:25 John "You didn't like that one?.." ....Aaron "Fuck off. Okay"... hahaha! gets me everytime
omg, I still love this band! Love how Aaron says he doesn't give ashit about sounding modern or progressive, but rather sound like Staind :)
My favorite part of this whole DVD.
Then goes country
Despite what aaron thinks, he's helped me through my life so much. I love you staind. Thank you.
I miss Staind, but that being their last album really made it magical. It's like they will forever be a nostalgic band.
I wouldn’t call it nostalgic at all, it’s more them being true to the roots and heart of their sound
They back😎🤘
New album just dropped yesterday and it's awesome lol
Paper Wings is my favorite song on the record, and its funny how thats the one that Aaron fought to change around the most
The best part of this whole video to me is 11:52 when Aaron sings Something to Remind You acapella. ITS SO RAW
I cant stop watching this documentary...
I've loved this band from day one. Ever since Fred mentioned them. Dysfunction one of my fav records all time, EASILY.
Bilo-xi, this one's the real motherf*cking deal, yo
Apart from these documentary the new cd is among the best ones they ever had.Amazing album..
I hope Staind makes another heavy record and fuckin killz it!
Seems like the 10 year break was needed but I'm so hyped and happy to have them come back. And that Heavy Staind is keeping strong with the new album so far
Such a GREAT album, amazing job guys!
They defined an era of music
Something To Remind You reminds me of a kid that I grew up with, through grade school, and adulthood. I heard it the day after he OD'd, which was a month after his twin brother died in a car wreck. What a haunting, and, beautiful song.
Peace through music.
#RIP Will n' Biz
This album, this doco is a testiment to how much you guys need each other. You're all fuckin awesome.
ah early 2000's were great time for music, staind, flaw, Cold, ah I miss the old Cold, soad, Chevelle, finger eleven and so on, great bands at their best
these guys helped get me into heavy music. i will always love these guys.
Aaron Lewis’s lyrics and vocals, we’re almost like therapy for me growing up in high school. Will always love Staind! God bless you guys!
Same 💯 🤟💓
40:06 the sickest guitar technique ever
that was the most intense min and 30 second intro ive ever seen
When this album came out I was excited I listen to it for like a year straight i love staind
aaron you are amazing, the things you do for people. the songs you write. You know you are great!!!!
i love how staind can touch all my emotions with their years of music. From anger to hate to sorrow to regret to not giving afuck to simple sadness to love to graditude.. mean it's endless. and the mosst amazing thing is that if i want to feel a certain way.. i know what songs to listen to to get that emotion. The riffs, lyrics, melodies.. it is so strong that itpulls those emotions out from my core. Staind isn't a light single level band/music. you can feel the intensity in your veins
Exactly they are awesome Staind has gotten me thought hard times
This album is so incredible. I love watching how it was made :)
absolutely love the album and this vid. i hope we hear a lot more from staind on years to come
haven't listened to these guys in a few years. forgot how incredible aaron's voice is. i used to listen to nothing but hip hop and this is one of the bands that got me to open my mind about music. i'll always respect this band.
Stainds final album was their heaviest and best by far!
Best? Maybe, but not their heaviest. Tormented takes the throne for that.
Lol auto pilot post
Lame
love you guys you have helped me so much in my life and still do ... Thank you very much for know just the write words to say ...
Love this album. My 2nd favorite, if not favorite, album that they have put out thus far. They KILLED it. Great job guys.
from a musician to a person whom has been there. Thank you. thanks for the inspiration so I can keep writing myself. see you on the road.
LOVE how this ended with them playing at Rock On The Range and I was there 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
🤟
Love this band n them ending TURNED INTO MY FAV. ARTIST....I THINK AARONS VOICE REPRESENTS PAIN
You've helped because sometimes telling your story helps other people to deal with their stories so we all thank you !!!!!
As much as i love the old stuff, this one is one my all time favorites. But then again I love it all!
"I do find that odd, that people would have the time or energy or take the time and energy and insult somebody they don't know, about something they know nothing about."
Wow, the story about the kid who committed suicide brings me back to a friend who attempted to kill himself while in the Navy. During hurricane Katrina, he lost contact with his family and lost his house to the storm and decided he wanted to jump about 150 ft into where our shipped was being dry docked. We were overseas and the secret song by Disturbed set him off. His friends stopped him, thank God. Just reminded me.
That voice is so pure!!! The whole band, just amazing...
Have been a fan for years and so glad and grateful to hear we get another record. And I can’t wait to see what’s next for staind
I never realized how much they fought amongst themselves
They've been together for so long as a band and then also you got those three damn stubborn ass Aries you had one Capricorn that's a recipe inside itself but I feel like in ways they made the best combination made such great music and they are like brothers❤🤟
Mike f*cking Mushok and Aaron f*cking Lewis. Two legends in an awesome band. Love Staind
Aaron is an amazing man...when he says that he didn't write these songs for his fans, but for himself. And finding out that his songs have helped many people (including me) should make him feel happy that he's helped so many people with their problems... all i can say to Aaron is thankyou...
After watching this I don't think I've been inspired by anything ive ever watch until I seen this. I love you guys. Aaron writes his lyrics that inspire me in ways never could imagine and opens new doors to listen to what i feel like at that point in time. The fact that all of you guys work and pour your hearts out to write an album to the best of your potential is all i ever ask of a band who is true to not only themselves but their fans. Ill always be a fan until the end and forever on!!! imL
This band shouldn't be like this. They're too good.
I hope they find their ways back and realize that most of the music was heavy off of pain but let's be heavy off of soul. The drummer needs to leave soil, come back to stains and country Aaron needs to come back to his roots
I was astonished when I found out he had went country I almost broke down 😔. He’s always and always will be my my fav vocalist ❤️❤️❤️
Other way around. Country is his personal childhood roots. 😉
My heart is heavy after watching this. SO SO MUCH TALENT AND TO JUST THROW IT ALL AWAY IS A SHAME SMFH.!! I also don't understand why they got rid of the Drummer after 17yrs. He was awesome. Best of Luck to all the members. Also with Aaron singing Country music now he needs to stop reading what the haters have to say. There just jealous, envious, losers that have no life.. trying to bring you down to their level and break you down.
Aaron is so right when he talks about how he helped so many people with his lyrics, even though he wasn't trying to. His lyrics have helped me out a lot, as well as many others. Thank you Aaron
Best part of this documentary...the song 75 was born. One of my all time favorite songs.
Everytime Aaron says fucking take a shot of tequila
We would be on the floor in the 1st 15 min.....lol
My Dr would like to know your location
10:21 "you're... i'm... somebody's falling" LOL fucking love Aaron xD
The first Staind song I've heard was "it's been awhile" but i never got into em' because i thought their music was too depressing up until this year i decided to give em a further listening and realize i relate to a lot of their songs. Now ima fan, and Aaron is one of my resent inspirations in life.
That sucks, I could only watch the first 7 minutes. Been a Staind fan since the 90s. I'm 781 so was always proud of another great band from Mass. Thanks guys for what it was. Peace.
In my opinion this is the album that should have been 13 shades of grey. I remember listening to type o negatives life is killing me album and the Deftones ST and wishing that I'd like their old sound back. Well here it is
HOW HAVE I NOT HEARD OF THIS BEFORE!! that gives me anxiety, what else have I missed from this band, staind has saved my life numerous times.
Don’t feel bad I just found it too...
a long 17 years plus pressure for a great album took its toll on all 4 original members God bless
Only discovered Staind's full gammot of music about 2 years ago. Fell in love with everything ever since. Currently follow Aaron on his country albums. A great band, a great lyricist, making great music.
People have to hate Staind, if they don't then Staind is doing something wrong. The sheer power of their music forces individuals to pick a side, I just hope more people choose to love them. I bottle my emotions up, Staind helps me get them out without having to say a word and for that I love this band. Thanks guys!
Please if you see this I love your music soo much,You guys are great.
I remember when the Staind album dropped. Dude I was so taken aback but in the best way possible. A buddy of mine was heavy into Staind, and I had only heard their more radio friendly stuff like from the Chapter V album, and a couple others. But when he showed me the Staind album. I immediately fell in love with it. I had no idea up to that point that Staind went that hard. And I realized, they’re probably one of the most underrated bands of their time.
Aaron, guys.. ROCK ON. Love your creativity with Staind AND your solo stuff.
16:10 I break down everytime
Mike is a BEAST!
Aaron you never set out two put the lyrics out for us to help us but that's exactly what you did and some of us could never thank you enough because it's what got us through brother..... Thank you....
It's apparent that that Aaron has used every emotion up and said it all and that kind of art cannot be forced. There may not be another set of stifes in Staind's life that makes great art. It's okay cuz they have so many great songs already.
The name of this should be "The demise of Staind" Jmo
My favorite 2 staind albums are chapter v and break the cycle
Yasss! Chapter V is the best!
this gave me a view into the band that i didnt know about and how difficult it is to make a record and the stuggles some bands have. For what its worth I love the album and hope you guys can come together for 100 more albums. I have been a fan since dysfunction and never complained once. Staind will always be one of my favorite bands ever. Thank you for 16 years (for me) of kick ass music that I can relate to and know I am not the only one who feels certain ways. Thank you guys
so glad i watched that hope they stay together as a band
Watching this. The night befor buying the cd is going to make listening to the songs tomorrow that much better. I hope the band can stick it out. Please don't think that every song. Has to be heavy there's us diehard fans that enjoy the mix. I hope your tour brings you to the northwest so I can finally see the band in concert !
9 years later what do you think?
@@bchipper3932 waiting /wishing for another album like everyone else and tangled up in you was our first dance song in 2016 👍
@@monkey39 Looks like we're finally getting another album🤘
Aaron man you're fuckin' great dude, don't worry about these dumbshits. They put you down while you're out there being creative, making great music while they are doing shit with their lives. Keep it up man. I grew up with your music as well, and it has meant a lot. Just do what you do, and don't let others try to put a label on you or define you. Your music is great, keep up the good work!
Just doing about a decade of covers isn't very fucking creative.
I was talking about the music he has produced as a whole. By the way, is there any way I could maybe check out your album or come to your concert? You seem like you're pretty creative yourself and I would REALLY enjoy listening to you live.
Its been awhile since i sat down, really listened to the story or message in Stainds songs... and how i can understand so much now, coz i relate!... Everyone needs to remember though, life goes on, people grow older, and if you dont allow change, growth and embrace it... well.. you might be bitter inside forever.
it never 'feels Like the first time' with anything in life, right?
aaron is pompous, yet he is so damn great at what he does.. he sang lyrics that we could relate to, we felt understood and most important, not alone in the world!
i still listen to certain songs to help me get strength to go thru my day.
and there are thousands of hearts and souls out here that
YOU guys have, through your albums, guided us,, inspired us, gave us reasons to believe in our goals... we formed alliances, and you are hero's to so many.
thank you for sharing all you have in all your music.
enjoy your lifes, you all deserve it,, heck, we all do.

this is one of the best albums I have ever heard!
How many bands can say that their last album was their best??? Only Staind!!
like every bands could said that
Bulky, name one
I didn't think the last one was that great.
I don’t think it was their best. Dysfunction is still better.
They have never topped break the cycle
"look at fucking Helmet! GAKU GAKU GAKU GAKU GAKU GAKU GAKU! 26 fucking times!"
good documentary, was cool to see the process and watch those guys pull for creative control. Staind is one of my all-time favorite bands. hope too see them live again sometime soon!
One of the greatest bands ever! can't understand why they are practically unheard of in the UK
Spleen best song!!!!!!
the spleen is the one major organ that u can live without...I DON'T NEED YOU!!
First song I ever heard by Staind was Home, and it was on the radio. That was back in '99 or '00. I've been a fan ever since although personally I think their last few albums, this one included, haven't been as good as Dysfunction, Break the Cycle or 14 Shades were, but that's my opinion
My first was so far away. I had never heard staind until 2013 and in a really big fan of rock music
Hey I'm a fan of rock I've sang rock since I was 2 and I loved the staind series and then this hank guy then three days grace the braking Benjamin then staind again wich I happy to sing them again

I love the documentary, love the band and the album.
You guys complete each other, love or hate there's something that just fits together between all of you and you have certainly inspired me and may other people. Push through tomorrow is another day one of the best bands to ever exist in my opinion...
OMFG!!!! The Part where Aaron Lewis got to the part about where he last read a letter about this boy who never had any interest in playing music or anything like that Made me Cry when I heard him talk about the boy Committing Suicide after recording himself playing his guitar outside his house and proceeded to hang himself :( :'( I Cried for about a minute when he talked about it.....
he was inside his room playing the song outside not playing outside when he hung himself lol
he made a song about this called Waste
