@@anthonyf5512 Ive always fancied fishing the canals around Dublin. Seen a few videos recently with some great catches. Im spoilt here to be honest. Literally few mins in the car in any direction and rivers leading straight onto the lough.
I did the same. Got chatting to a fellow angler and we both subscribe to your channel. He ended up taking me to his car in a lay by and bumming me on the back seat
Thanks chris always fished for trout and perch but with your videos have thought me how to handle pike cheers from dublin pal your videos are great keep up the good work
Possibly a dumb Q.,@@The_ginger_fisherman, but why do you call that first one a jerkbait, when it clearly has a lip/vane? I was under the impression that jerkbaits have no lips/vanes by definition, and anything with a lip is a plug AKA crankbait...?
"Im going to a crystal clear stretch of the canal"!!... I would have drive to the next county for a crystal part of my canal!!!.... Excellent video as always!! 🇬🇧
Love all your videos mate. I liked the look of these lures, so I ordered one, I could only get the ayu colour as all the rest were out of stock. Hooked into a 20lb 7oz Pike yesterday on it with an Ultra Light 6ft rod on the canal. Took a while to land. Still buzzing now. Thanks mate! 😊
Thanks Chris. Did you notice there was also a second slightly smaller Perch involved in the Pike chase? You can see it turn away just before the bigger Perch comes back into shot.
I always remember fishing the canal in Worcester. About a foot in front of me I had a top water lure, just as I was about to pull it up and WHAM. An 8lb pike came flying out the water and tail Walked with my lure in its mouth on the take. It did this about 3 times after it was hooked. It made me jump a mile and will be one of my best pike takes that I'll always remember :D
Thanks Chris, I learned a lot from that video. I've hardly ever fished for pike, probably due to lack of success but, you've wet my appetite to give it another go. 😊
Hi Chris just starting out lure fishing been on angler since I could hold a rod but the videos are inspiring. Did you tie the leader direct to the lure or a wire trace?
I think that perch was after the lure in the pike's mouth. Happens a lot with saltwater species. If it had been a bigger pike chasing the smaller pike, then that'd be a different stoty :)
I have recently come across your video's and I am really enjoying them. I have never caught a Pike on a lure before despite trying many times. After your hints and tips etc, I was out a few days ago at a local club water and I caught my first ever Pike on a lure. It was a Jack Pike of four and three quarter pound. The next day I went back andnhad a second Pike on the same Lure but this one was a double of thirteen plus pounds. I was well pleased with both of them. I caught them with an old Drennan ESOX Jell-Ignite Shad 21gm. I looked at Rapala lures today, and I quite fancy trying a Rap-V Pike Bladed Jig, 21gm. Have you ever tried the jigs at all? Do you think they are worth a shot? Thank you in advance for any guidance, and thank you for your video's, I have subscribed.
Nice vid mate, i use a jerkbait similar to the first, you can get them from go outdoors, the red, yellow and green coloured one has caught me loads of pike. I find it miles better to control the bait with your right hand above the handle, you get really good response from the bait and more control i feel.
Last September I hooked a pike, approx 85 cm long, and suddenly the water exploded when a fair bit bigger pike wanted to make a meal out of "my" pike. This was in a small river with clear water, my pulse was racing watching it all play out right in front of me. The bigger pike took off when I tried to catch it with my net denying me a double-catch in one cast 😄
Id like to see you fish the Trent and Mersey canal at Stoke on Trent as I have just started fishing again after 20 years and fishing this canal I can only get tiny fish around 3 inches and its doing my head in lol. The canal is coloured not clear like the one your fishing
Mate you make pike fishing look so easy 🤔 😂. I have just been the canal pike fishing with my brother on the Leeds Liverpool canal in Liverpool and we didn't catch a sausage 😬 we were dead baiting ,I might the jerk lures after watching this 👍🏻 I am very new to pike fishing✌🏻.
I always use lures just so that I’m constantly moving to find the pike. It’s easier to find them on rivers as the slack areas are usually more obvious.
Sadly the little bit of blood coming from gills will probably lead to it's demise , from tiny perch to big fish result same if gills damaged , one of reasons I have never took to pike fishing with treble hooks ,I trued it few times and suffered same problem Maybe we should just use single hooks may miss more but whenever I used single hooks seemed less frequent

Thanks for explaining how you work the lures.
Thanks Chris. Did you notice there was also a second slightly smaller Perch involved in the Pike chase? You can see it turn away just before the bigger Perch comes back into shot.
Love seeing you fishing! I just started buying some equipment, i am a beginner so its nice see how this works.

Gotta love when the active ones shoot straight at your lure and scares the life out of you😂😂
08:30 this chinese/oriental background music is relaxing as heck, more of this please in next video.
Thanks Chris, I learned a lot from that video. I've hardly ever fished for pike, probably due to lack of success but, you've wet my appetite to give it another go. 😊

You’re lucky to have clear waters like this. The canals by me are like coffee ,can’t see a thing
Your waters are black?
What a freaking video mate , could watch this for hours makes me wanna go fishing soo bad i ordered a new jerkbait while watching 👍🏽
great filming pal, it must take you ages with all the editing and getting it out there
Small pikes are beautyful !🎣

Chris...love the videos, very educational and looks fun...what part of the country are you fishing in please
Top content as always. How can you always tell if the fish crushed it, nailed it or choked it?
Depend what i feel like at the time 😂
Love your videos ❤
I like Pike. With butter and onions they are perfect.
Hi mate just wondering what go pro you use?
Amazing bro nice fishing
Enjoyed that.👍
that was a trophy perch - sorry you could not tempt it back
Keep up the work!

Hi Chris. What kind of leader do you use in this video?
Thanks 😊

What trace did you use , brand and pound test? Thanks fantastic video 😊
Whats the lure your using again mate ? Thankyou
greetings from Indonesia, greetings from one rod
8:34 Did the pike get you? happened to me not long ago, lucky it was small, not much harm done, bloody messy looking though, haha
Id like to see you fish the Trent and Mersey canal at Stoke on Trent as I have just started fishing again after 20 years and fishing this canal I can only get tiny fish around 3 inches and its doing my head in lol. The canal is coloured not clear like the one your fishing
Chris you gotta go back to that swim and try and catch that perch
can you do a spinning session ? Good video 😁
hows the spot at the end of your garden bro? is it all dead?
I'd really like to get into pike fishing but not sure how to handle them. Any chance you could do a video on handling them please.
Use your brain mark and have a look at previous videos.
You couldn't do that sink in the canal near me Leeds Liverpool as to many sunken items you'd be snagged sk may have to do the quick retrive
could you let me know what the small handled landing net you use is ?
good eating
I really enjoy this channel but I'm not a fisherman.
I retire soon so I might start catching silver fish.
My thoughts exactly, i tend to remove the underside treble though. your thoughts would be appreciated.
what net and net pole do you use?
Do you also fish on zander? Don’t think i saw a video you catching a zander.
sensasi tarikan yang luar biasa
What was the fish at the end of the 8th minute? Couldn’t make out if it was a jack or a Z?
Is that canna badly silted up? There appears hardly any water in it.
When dead bating try and get it in slack waters where it gets deeper or under over hanging tree hope this helps
@@haidenstatter7969 Thanks for the tip mate 👍🏻✌🏻
I always use lures just so that I’m constantly moving to find the pike.
It’s easier to find them on rivers as the slack areas are usually more obvious.
What kind of perch was that? Not many perch over here that big.
Usually the other way round, pike nobbling the perch we're landing.
Bet you return for that perch soon
