- This session I hit the canal with the lures in search of elusive big perch using lures only! Throughout the session I share some hits and tips when it comes to targeting post spawn perch, but I never expected the session to go this well! Especially when I found the honey hole!

Chris, your presenter style is spot on. Even if I didnt like fishing Id still watch and listen. Good on you mate.
Master baiter fancy a bum
Just amazing perch!! Love to see a ecosystem so healthy
This man does not miss! 😅 loved the informative style of this vid - felt like I was watching a classic Matt Hayes show from back in the day!
Beautiful fish. A pleasure to watch
Fantastic,l ! perch is my favourite fish to catch, but being more of a fly fisherman these days, I haven't caught one in years, but my local reservoir has been spilling a few into the river I mainly fish, so hopefully it won't be to long before I have another one if these beauties in my net
Awesome session. Took me years to catch a 2lb+ canal perch, then had 2 in an hour from the same spot, biggest was 2lb12oz, they were backed up by 2 more fish just under the 2lb mark. Was probably the best hour of fishing I've ever had. Theres something really special about a real big perch.
Nothing is bigger than a big perch! 💪
Mint that mate!! You had any big roach?
Excellent hat trick of big canal perch Chris. Mission accomplished. 🙂👍
Another great video of a great session. I don't know if you actually get any income from your UA-cam channel Chris, but if you do, I'm pleased for you because you absolutely deserve it - your love for angling and the respect and care for the fish you catch shines through, you impart shedloads of really useful knowledge, and your filming, editing and production skills are top notch and presumably self-taught? Best of all, you inspire people to get off their arses and go out and have a go. I ever meet you in a pub, a pint is definitely coming your way, cheers.
Thank's for the kind words buddy it's very much appreciated. This is actually my full time job and has been for almost 3 years now. Best job in the world but it's none stop. A lot of people don't know this but I actually took media production and conservation courses at college. The aim was to go into Wildlife documentary production which was my dream. So thinking about it I'm almost doing what I'd set out to do at 16
Couldn’t agree more !
Fellow Ginger here. I grew up catching Yellow Perch in Upstate New York, in the US. We lived in the Finger Lakes region on Keuka Lake. When I was a kid, the water was so clear that you could see the bottom clearly in 20 feet of water. We could jig for em by site. Awesome memories. Thanks for taking me back in time. I'd love to fish that bridge. Awesome spot!
You have no chance of fishing that bridge as he doesn’t explain we’re he is
@@MrHemp55 well, I live on the other side of the planet. So, I will, for sure, never find it. Besides, if he gave locations, people would ruin his spots.
I don’t rlly go lure fishing but I went float fishing today in the grand union canal caught 4 perch on worms in the same sport decent size ones love your videos have a great day ❤❤❤
Really good videos! I've been watching you for around a year now! Keep it up, great fishing advice and editing skills are good too. From Sweden 🇸🇪
Perch fishing is awesome fun! 🔥
Absolutely Awesome Chris, cracking Perch! Well done 👏🎣
Your videography is absolutely brilliant. It’s very easy to sit and watch without paying much attention to the amount of time these must take to film and edit.
Another great session again Chris. Lovely Perch from the Canal. As we all know Perch do not like bright light. And It Is even worse If the sun comes out. So always look for anything over hanging the water, producing a nice dark area for them to congregate In. Plus bait fish will also go these places for protection as well. Keep 'Em Coming.
Another great watch thanks Chris
Nice catch. Quite envious of the clarity of your canal, ours is alway murky and when the boats start i just go home and get breakfast
Some lovely perch Chris. Great bit of fishing 👍 them new lures done the job.
Top tips. Lovely little canal.
Cracking video once again !!! Thanks for all the informative information as well. Cheers Chris you legend !
Caught bigger one absolutely wild but you're are good enough , no bad .
Exciting adventure! Subscribed to your channel and eagerly awaiting more videos. It's thrilling to see your pursuit of big perch using lures only, especially when you hit the honey hole unexpectedly. Can't wait to learn more about your tactics and experiences targeting
Stunning Perch, awesome👍
Great video I don't fish fresh water anymore but I find your content so enjoyable I don't miss any of your posts so keep it up mate
Great video, I love perch my favourite fresh water fish. Keep the videos coming it's always a good day when I get to watch them.
Great video 😊 I wish we had big perch like that in Pennsylvania 😅
Another cracking episode, really well done 👍 .
Good tips to try at the weekend thanks Chris tite lines
I absolutely love the SG4 series Rods from Savage gear. I have multiple versions of them including a light game travel rod. Just phenomenal rods. Great video again man! Love watching your videos 💪🏻👍🏻…unfortunately it’s closed season in the Netherlands now 😊
Thanks again for great content Chris.🇮🇪
Cracking session Chris. Mr 'hattrick' does it again! < <
Awesome video mate! As an Englishman living in Australia your videos are always very nostalgic for me. Keep up the good work.
what an awesome video! Mate I haven't watched one of your videos for ages but your presentation style and videography has been next level in this one!
Love your photography skills Chris!
I CANNOT get over the size of the perch that you catch consistently. Amazing! Great camera work too. Another great video. Keep up the good work.
Great stuff Chris.
Good man Chris, thats a lovely net full.
I could watch your perch content all day long 👌
Nice Chriss!!! it was a long time I haven't watch one your content ! great as usual!
Great episode 😊
Cracking Chris 👍👍👍
Another great vid Chris. No one does the pain of losing a nice fish as well as you 😂
If I included all the swearing it would be more authentic 😂
Without a doubt the best out there!🔥
Great fishing christened the new rod too . 😊
Nice work Chris 👍
I must admit, even though we don't have perch where I live (Alaska) it's so much fun watching your interesting videos. I fished for them as a child in the western U.S. but the biggest one I've ever landed was about the size of your smaller one. Rock on ginger guy!
Cracking Perch! Nice one 🐟
I caught my PB in a canal here in the netherlands. 45cm 1+kilo. Upgraded my PB that day 3 times. First was 38cm second was 42 and my PB from 45cm. Caught my first ever zander and had my first ever pike on the line. Can't wait for the season to open up.
Good stuff Chris
Awsome video Chris some stunning perch probably a family them lol🎣
Blimey !!! That was superb.....
Alas, I live miles from a canal.....Have to wait until June 16th, and then it's lure fishing all season on my local Nene.....Champing at the bit to say the least....
I’m catching these with a lighter rod same series. Great results on one day fishing ! Congrats!
G'day Chris, great big perch awesome session. May the 4th be with you , all the best form down under mate 👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Another ace video Chris! You make it all look so easy 😅....
Keep going mate! 😎😌
Canals are fishing sick lately had a right afternoon yesterday, caught 9 bream on bread and corn and then i caught what i thought was a chub but on closer inspection it was actually a grass carp around 5 lb
awesome fish mate
Great video ❤
Loving the more Professional production
Great video mate, I have had one good canal perch session, but since spawning they have been tricky for sure!
Man, jealous as heck, wish I had those where I live. Great catch man.
I have the sg4 powergame heavy, Great rods Chris
Looking forward to this
I am Savage gear Fanatic, from lures to rods and outfit, you made excellent choices 👌 specially with Gravity twitch 👌
Only real fisherman says just one more cast and then casts loads of times.
Love, big Perch
Nice vid, thanks.
Great session Chris like always
Week ago accidentally i beat my pb perch during session for pike
I think i was big for city channel
Was 43cm and 1.413kg i was absolutely amazed
what a fantastic video
It's nice to see how great fishing can be in a civilised country.
NEVER caught a BIG perch brilliant mate 👍
Nice porch and big con from Ireland 🇮🇪 😊
Some beautiful perch and a few Nike jacks but Ireland is very similar and I still haven't got a nearly 2lb one but determination I'll get on thanks for the ideas 💡 happy fishing pal
*nice jack's
Awesome 👍🎣
Perch Derby in my local area next week . You would have been runner up with these for sure. NIce sized fish mate. Im heading out later today to cast my line :) Perch/Drum/Gar/Carp/Blue Cats and many others . Fingers Crossed. Cheers.
Great video mate ...and lovely fish!
I'm a member on that stretch too now but haven't had much luck at all, as yet.
I only started lure fishing about 6 weeks ago, so still learning a lot. I'll hopefully get back down there tomorrow afternoon so fingers crossed 🤞
Also I've met up with Bill Hurst a couple of times and I'm impressed by what he catches on micro lures! He gave me a handful to try, last week and it's surprising what shows an interest in something so small! 😁
love the good video's
Thats a nice keepnet you git there😉🤣
I use savage gear rods and reels here in Australia…good stuff for the money!
great vid
Ace mate lovely looking perch great colours 🎣watching your videos is like meditation because I've not been able to do any fishing because the split arse got a fox red lab pup 🐶she's 14 months old know so I can start leaving her and go fishing 🎣 carnt wait. Thanks again dude keep the videos coming 😎👍👌♥🎣👣
I'd say take the dog with you, we got a lab thinking he'd make a good fishing buddy, but the bastard cant keep out the river 😂
@@The_ginger_fisherman ace mate just seen your reply I got two water loving labs the nine year old black lab is nearly blind bless her she loves water 💦 😎👍👌♥
Come to Holland if you want to catch some real biguns. 😁
Been waiting two days too long for this
Used to fish on the Grand Union Canal by the Malt Shovel in Iver. Caught some grand old perch just below the bridge using a silver mepps rigged with a single barbless hook, or a devon minnow. I had a 6' spinning rod with a Mitchell 408. Great combo but not much use if a pike grabbed the lure.
I like this guy doesn’t just show you what he,s catching he shows you his tactics his baits and set ups You could also tell us where about your actually fishing on these canals
you wont find many fishermen willing to share their spots, it takes a lot of effort to find them. He just said he covered 16 miles to find those fish.
😂
Some good tips in there, but none of it works on the canal up in Edinburgh 😂 The waters like hot chocolate, theres boats every 10 mins, theres no locks, it's the same depth all the way, few features and the fish are never under bridges. Absolutely hopeless.
I agree , I’m near Oxford and all the canals are brown plenty of features out in the countryside but no chance of seeing anything 😂
Buddy I fish that grand union canal myself and have all winter😅not a single fish until the summertime it seems like the puzzle I can’t unlock😢
@@maplin007Plenty of Zander in the Oxford Canal between Enslow and Heyford. Had two decent Zs in the last week, both 48cm plus.
Best Regards from F'n'F Family Lincoln U.K
@@packtanagaming7388same here on the Bridgewater canal in Greater Manchester where I live. It's like all the perch and pike disappear in the winter time and don't start showing up until the weather gets better
nice monsters
Isn’t it closed season or is this canal part of a fishery with day tickets etc ?
Perch are my favourite fish I used to fish Vyrnwy and my best day was 2' 3/4 pound and a 1 3/4 on ledgered worn . Happy days
Great content. What mainline would you use on a baitcaster when canal lure fishing for perch?
what a video😱
You need to get to the Welford arm of the GU. Some lovely perch on that bit.
I wish we had as big of Perch and the amount of canals as yous do over here in Ireland.
I've caught decent sized ones and small ones last summer by using maggots. A shoal of perch would always chill by the bridge but never under it and I'd lure them to the margins with maggots to keep them interested and I'd jig 3-4 maggots till they took it. They were a bit wary as I was standing right over them 😂
They call the English Perch Redfin here in Australia, and the Aussies like to eat them.
i had one of those SG rods but mine snapped when my lure snagged on a water lily never happened to a rod i owned before but it might have been an anomaly but it was light and comfy to throw with atleast
Hello Chris, I've been following your video's for ages now and have subscribed. I've been trying to put together a decent set up for large perch and small pike. I thought I couldn't go far wrong dupicating the gear you use. You have listed everything apart from the reel. Any chance you could tell me which one you were using or which one you would recommend to go with the SG4??? Thanks in antisipation
Great session, would love to see a polarized lens/cover for the gopro
Funnily enough i had one on during this session 😂
Chris, how do I go about catching large perch in smallish lakes? Same lures?
🔥🔥
Is it better to float fish worm or a lure on canals.great video.
Hi Chris, what make and model bike do you have? Looks like something i need in my life 👍
