@@Thorgon-Cross An 84mm APDS round can absolutely light ammunition up. The spall does get hot, and is the best chance for ignition, but the projectile itself does as well. It flies through the air at 1400m/s or more, generating heat from air resistance, before it punches through the steel plates of the armor, heating it up even more. In game, yes, spall is limited to a few fragments, but in real life, hitting their ammo rack would send thousands of tiny superheated fragments and sparks throughout the interior of the tank. The cloud of powder from the rounds you just obliterated could easily ignite in a big ball of explosive fire, sending the rest of the rounds up in flame as well. Also putting a round into the M48s breach is literally impossible you'll just get shell shattered.
i love how the APDS that allowed the British to pen the King Tiger frontally, and British guns in general seem to fire slightly hurtful insults in WT. I would love to see you try Panzer II. Good news: It's a light tank. Bad News: it has trouble penetrating anything
I think it'd be pretty need if you tried the AMX-50 Surbaisse. 6 second 19 round autoloader makes it very interesting to play. The gun also feels quite nice.
I guess the real benefit of APDS would be the lesser ricochet chance (and yes the better penetration too), but nothing beats post-penetration damage. if you instead use AP(CBC) rounds (preferably with HE filler) that have less penetration, you can compensate with the correct shot placement and reap rewards of the better post-pen damage, because in War Thunder tank crews are made of men with iron morale, who never abandon their tanks even after multiple penetrations. those brave men will continue to do their duties until they are almost all or all dead (depends on the tank, for example in Strv 103 everybody has to die, but in other tanks the last remaining crew member can possibly survive). I'm not saying that I would like to see a morale system in the game in any shape or form, but it's more of an observation about the brutality of gladly fighting to the death inside a steel coffin in War Thunder compared to how common it is to see abandoned tanks in the war in Ukraine. it's almost like people don't actually want to die or see their friends die suddenly in a horrible way, although to be fair ground SB despite its other faults (like the lack of coordination, if you are not in a squad with friends) gets in some ways closer to the more careful approach you see in reality. still it's merely frustrating to be destroyed in one shot by a tank you didn't even see and not literal death. on a final note and despite the comparison to the war in Ukraine I wouldn't actually recommend playing top tier tanks in SB due to thermals among other things, but somewhere between 7.0-7.7 it can actully be pretty fun imo, especially with a friend.
I have noticed over the years that full downtiers usually means for me a steamroll loss. As if by magic, very often my shells do not pen. Very strange, as if one side gets buffed or I'm supposed to do 10+ kills to even have a chance at a win. In tanks I could have multiple matches with cotton ball shells and then... in the middle of the match... suddenly my shells start working and I start 1-shooting tanks left and right. In Naval I would get many loss matches with very little kills and then *poof* suddenly I'm starting killing left and right and get the first place win. In that losing streak, if I leave a 0.7-1.0 uptier at the start, the match is most often a win. There is something very screwy going on with all of this.
The comet was put at 5.3 because it got a sabot and now it’s AP is worse than the rest of its lineup while having a useless sabot. Edit: there’s also the black prince which should sit at 5.7 but currently sits at 6.0 where it gets constant up tiers and has the misfortune of having to fight 6.7 line ups while not having anything to rely on since it’s sabot is also worthless and it’s armor at that br can’t really be relied on.

@@cyberdroid2300 Honestly I'd rather have hispanos than ADENs... at least you'd get a decent amount of ammo.

8:53 "Eeeeep" -Spookston 2023
I played Vickers Mk.1 yesterday and had a blast. 105mm APDS is pretty good most of the time. I know that thing is pretty unique due to its mobility and very fast reloading on 105mm at 7.7. But two 15kill games in a row were really nice. You should try it before they nerf it. I would say its the best tank in the UK tech tree.
Wait, they’re gonna nerf what and when ?
This is true. Sabot works only on 100mm+ guns
@boijames3253 I'm just guessing. Because that Vicker mk1 is really busted. 105mm APDS with pen better than the Vickers Mk8. And 6s reload. It's so good at bullying Germans with their slow reload and no stabilizer.
@@unclesam5733 Yeah the M728 shot is kinda shit now, it has slightly more sloped pen for way less flat pen, I think its values are actually historically incorrect aswell, the 260mm pen figure I believe is supposed to be at long range, not close range..
@@danb4900 I just unlocked the Vickers mk.8 and noticed that its shot is even worse then the Vickers Mk1 and also it has slower reload. I see no reason why it is at 8.0
I feel like your editing and jokes have improved a lot, I find all your videos really entrateining but I have never snorted so much at a WT video as this one!
You should make a video on the new French AuF1 it’s pretty fun but also really annoying lmao
I feel like they've secretly filled all our sabo rounds with APCR, because that's how it behaves lately.
384mm of pen in a 3kg sabo round from a 20pdr: *hits an M48 in the UFP*
M48 driver: "aw man i spilled tomato sauce"
The rest of his crew: *perfectly fine instead of eviscerated* .
Also putting a round into the M48s breach is literally impossible you'll just get shell shattered.
I'm keen on to see how the Type 60 spgr would perform under your hands.
what's even funnier about the plane at 13:00 is that it has the "Let's Go!" banner as it spins LMAO
Imagine if Gaijin focused on realism and fun instead of nerfing or buffing things at random for no good reason.
Dude you didn't have to make us all cry with that intro bro
i love how the APDS that allowed the British to pen the King Tiger frontally, and British guns in general seem to fire slightly hurtful insults in WT.

Spookston: That's really annoying, could you please stop that?
IS-3: Stop what?
Spookston: Existing.
Wait, APDS has less ricochet chance? I thought APC was the king in this regard

I do not know why but the though of his legs getting roasted made me laugh when I shouldn't have
The shell going right through the ammo rack and doing nothing is not a Sabot thing, it's a "russian tank" thing

"I think that's a Jagdpanther"
Love this type of Editing. Very Entertaining keep on doing that!
Comet was my favourite tank to play, but now it's just frustrating to play
7:53 i love that spookston actually has a personal beef with pz iv/70 lol
I’m very sad that they nerfed the Sabot because I bought the Swedish Centurion and I used it as a grinding tool but now that it’s nerfed it’s not doing so hot at 7.3. Also you should play the T-34-57 I think it’s a little over powered.

Btw that shot on the T-54 is a common occurrence on Russian vehicles it’s basically “ghost fuel tank” syndrome. Try it with a French AMX-30 (7.7) with heat and shoot the IT-1 in test drive repeatedly in its frontal fuel tank and Watch the fireworks.
Also, Spookston, can you play the WZ305 again? Just to get revenge on CAS and tanks?
I've heard it said many times before that "in a game, realism doesn't mean fun", but it's never fun when something acts in an unrealistically unexpected way

Yes spookston i agree with you fighiting 8.3 am 8.0 apds on the 20pdr is painful and frustrating
as you seem to love APDS so much I once again request that you try out one of the Chieftains (Mk 3, Mk 5, Mk 10 or the Khalid). you have already played a better version of the Chieftain Marksman, so there is no need to suffer needlessly, when you can suffer with a purpose.

Spookston trying toconvince his audience that he’s good at tanks without aphe:
Not too long ago, I was playing with a friend. 7.7 Britain with the Cent 3, Action X etc. I didn't know the Sabot nerfs were in effect.

Hey Spook. Love your vids. On the T54 pen. It’s upper plate protection is just about at the limit of 20pdr apds. At 60 deg. And gaijin did implement a mechanic where when apds reaches its max penetration it’s post pen suffers. Which it does in real life technically. It’s in one of the recent patch notes. And honestly I think that pen shouldntve killed the ammo from white.
