Mission 3: reinforcements, reinforce the base under attack. Mission 4: desperate last stand, you are inside the base and must survive and hold the line. Mission 5: help is on the way, travel to the base as fast as possible to reinforce them. You arrive and find out that there is no giant battle but you and your crew survived and made it. The centurion tank was one of the most successful main battle tanks ever made, somw countries still use modernized centurions to this day. They still have their drawbacks, but overall was very successful.
But not in the 1970s. It was just a basic tank that was modified with a l/7 105mm barrel and that's the only distinct features which can only be used to compete with mordern mbt in 1970. I am sure you know that the iserial military didn't issue inferred night vision for the tanks but instead used night vision goggles only for the commander but the Syrians tanks had it as standard issue. So the centurion wasn't really that advanced.
@@sushimachine567 the FCS on the Sho’ts and the T-62 were relatively on par, neither tank had armour good enough to prevent penetration from either sides guns, the biggest factor would have been crew training and fighting conditions, If you’ve ever been inside a T-62 you’ll know how cramped they are, the Centurion is like a 5 star hotel in comparison, If I had the choice, it’d be the centurion everyday
Kudos to the Israeli armed forces for fighting such a fierce battle despite being heavily outnumbered by the enemies... Respect and love from India... And sir can you please create one video on the battle of longewala of the 1971 Indo- pakistani war
As a proud Israeli and viewer of this channel I think you did a great job. this is an exceptional video. However there are a few misconceptions I felt need addressing: 0:10 - Yom kippur is not celebrated with a menorah, that is only used in Hannukah. Additionally the older males are not wearing a kippa when praying which is pretty much a requirement for praying no matter the strictness of your belief as a Jew. 1:39 - the Israeli symbol for medics and their equipment is a david star, not a cross (which is a Christian symbol)
The Centurion was truly the tank that saved a nation , but without the bravery and sacrifice of the crews that manned them , they would have been no more useful than the Syrian tanks they destroyed See many examples of the Centurion tank at Yad La Shiryon - Israel's official memorial site for fallen soldiers from the armoured corps, as well as one of the most diverse tank museums in the world
Allegedly, one of the things that threw off the Syrians is that intercepted radio communications had them convinced they were dealing with an enemy tank brigade. They didn't know "Zvika Force" was a single tank with a madman of a commander. At one point, he was asked by an Israeli officer how many tanks he had. His reply was, "My situation isn't good. I can't tell you how many." If the enemy had known they were facing a single enemy tank, they would have just closed in and overrun him.
This story reminds me of this: The Valley of Tears During the Yom Kippur War, a small impossibly outnumbered Israeli force held back a large portion of the Syrian army, for four days in the Golan Heights. The Syrians were armed with hundreds of tanks, but gave the Israeli forces a false sense of security revealing only a few of their tanks in battle formation for months before the massive attack they had planned. If this attack was successful they could have taken Israel. They had three infantry divisions and over a thousand tanks. At one point, it was said to be just three Israeli tanks against one hundred and fifty Syrian tanks. A sergeant, out of shells wanted to leave his position, but was ordered to stay put. With no ammo, he was up against impossible odds. It would take a miracle to save him; to save Israel, and that’s just what happened. The Syrians retreated, just when the Israeli force was on the verge of collapse! It has been theorized that the Syrians didn’t know the tanks were out of shells and seeing only a few tanks changing positions, they may have believed that Israel had more tanks than they actually did. However, a Syrian soldier swears an army of Angels surrounded those few tanks Israel had and considering the rate of miracles surrounding the small country of Israel, that could truly be what happened in what is now known as, the Valley of Tears. Psalm 121:4 Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. Amen.
I know this story! Sorry for making it religious btw it's just the only way we could explain it. We believe god made their scouts see a LOT more vehicles than the real number. Our forces never shot twice from the same location making it look like their reports were correct. It's an amazing story.

Centurion is one of the most widely exported and successful tanks in history. Meanwhile I'd love to see a "making of" episode. The animation is quite something to behold.
Not to mention the fact that most people who look at it would probably not know what it is, and probably assume it's american. Centurions are a hurricane when used with the finesse required. Soviet Bloc era tanks are just "mash button and spin wheel and lose arm to autoloader" on a scale of many, many tanks against one.

He’s the very definition of a badass! Got interrupted on a holiday by jets, goes to the base and sees a bunch of injured soldiers being taken out of trucks and instantly starts to help the people that are carrying the injured soldiers, and then he gets called to get in a tank and go kill anything that moves and does that WITHOUT QUESTION and then kills about sixty tanks. Errors: Syria was not a member of the United Arab Republic in 1973 as it no longer existed; the Centurion tanks illustrated are incorrect as they have the petrol engines, not the diesel upgrade ones that were stationed on the Golan; the main gun shown is incorrect showing the 84mm, as the 105mm gun on the upgrade Centurion did not have a weight bar attached to the bore evacuator.
Not trying to be 'picky' - just accurate. After the 1967 War, the Israelis began upgrading their Centurion tanks from the standard Rolls-Royce 650hp petrol-engine to the Teledyne-Continental 750hp diesel-engine, along with many other improvements. As a result, the back engine-deck looks completely different from the one illustrated in the video. The Centurions initially stationed on the Golan at the beginning of the 1973 War were all the upgraded model.@@airplanemaniacgaming7877
It's an overall great video, but I wanted to say one thing: In the beginning, you had a Jewish family standing in front of a chanukiah (candlabra). The day on which this war started was yom kippur, the Jewish day of atonement. The candlabra is the symbol of chanukah which is in December, not October. Great video though!
Technically it's not a chanukiah, it's a menorah. A chanukah has a total of 9 candles, but the one depicted has only 7. Still an odd choice for Yom Kippur.
As an enlisted NCO, I see these stories often and it is ALWAYS the officer who gets credit. Never the expert gunner (who actually killed the tanks) or anyone else. General Patton gets credit for an advance when all he does is tell while the men carry it out and fight.

All the Syrians saw when they approached the base was "CURRENT OBJECTIVE: SURVIVE" as the lone remaining Centurion rolled into view.
(Impossible mission begins)
*Steel Commanders solo build up starts playing*
_"Why do i Hear Boss music?"_
*red health bar pops up on screen*
*MORALE -*
Actually no most probably the Syrians saw
Current mission:
"Stop the Massacre"
Because they literally did get massacred.
The gunners also need to be named. They were incredible.
Yeah, it made the Syrians so mad to the point they try to call it fake lmfaooo.
This feels like an action video game plot. You are some random reserve solider as a massive army is invading and must single handedly fight off against overwhelming odds again and again. Tutorial: test out the tank, travel to point, aim and fire at the enemy tanks. tutorial finishes when radio fails and you get in the other tank with full health, fuel, and ammo. Mission 2, murder in the dark: fight the enemy troops alone. Bonus objective to stay undetected and to prevent them from realizing you are alone. Have it be a bit like the battlefield campaigns where you switch between different peoples stories.
Would be one hell of a story line for a movie

The centurion tank was one of the most successful main battle tanks ever made, somw countries still use modernized centurions to this day.
They still have their drawbacks, but overall was very successful.
But not in the 1970s. It was just a basic tank that was modified with a l/7 105mm barrel and that's the only distinct features which can only be used to compete with mordern mbt in 1970. I am sure you know that the iserial military didn't issue inferred night vision for the tanks but instead used night vision goggles only for the commander but the Syrians tanks had it as standard issue. So the centurion wasn't really that advanced.

As a proud Israeli and viewer of this channel I think you did a great job. this is an exceptional video. However there are a few misconceptions I felt need addressing:
0:10 - Yom kippur is not celebrated with a menorah, that is only used in Hannukah. Additionally the older males are not wearing a kippa when praying which is pretty much a requirement for praying no matter the strictness of your belief as a Jew.
1:39 - the Israeli symbol for medics and their equipment is a david star, not a cross (which is a Christian symbol)
I love the Centurion so much, it’s my favorite tank
My favorite is either the Sherman firefly or the T-10
I’m more of an M2 Bradley / Sherman Jumbo fan, but I can’t deny the centurion is sexy

Yeah it looks Hella sick
Nice
So glad this channel is growing and getting the recognition it deserves !

you’re right bill. go tell all your friends abt it
The Centurion was truly the tank that saved a nation , but without the bravery and sacrifice of the crews that manned them , they would have been no more useful than the Syrian tanks they destroyed
See many examples of the Centurion tank at Yad La Shiryon - Israel's official memorial site for fallen soldiers from the armoured corps, as well as one of the most diverse tank museums in the world
Allegedly, one of the things that threw off the Syrians is that intercepted radio communications had them convinced they were dealing with an enemy tank brigade.
This is one reason why I love tanks.
Just like jets, they can go absolute hero mode.
I don’t know how you guys post so much, but it never disappoints!
This story reminds me of this:
The Valley of Tears
During the Yom Kippur War, a small impossibly outnumbered Israeli force held back a large portion of the Syrian army, for four days in the Golan Heights.
Psalm 121:4
Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
Amen.
I know this story! Sorry for making it religious btw it's just the only way we could explain it. We believe god made their scouts see a LOT more vehicles than the real number. Our forces never shot twice from the same location making it look like their reports were correct. It's an amazing story.
I have a few stories like this one when miracles happened to us and secured our victory.
@@theultimategamer9240 Israel is the Land of Miracles. Ben Gurion even said, that in Israel, if you do not believe in miracles, then you are not a realist.
@@m_0714 yeah that's pretty much how things are here lol

Great story. What an incredible act of bravery overcoming insurmountable odds. Just goes to show what a good crew can do in a Centurion with a royal ordnance L7 105mm gun.

The Centurion was an amazing tank for the Israelis. Same with the M60s and M48s. They had the ability to be modified easily to their advantage. Its the same reason why M60s are still in service with Israel today, in the form of the Pereh missile tank
some of the modified M60 (Magach 7C) are still in service, but only in limited number, the thing got the same main gun as the Merkava Mk4 (120mm)
Pereh is not in service anymore actually.

If that doesn’t make him a badass then what is a real badass?

Errors: Syria was not a member of the United Arab Republic in 1973 as it no longer existed; the Centurion tanks illustrated are incorrect as they have the petrol engines, not the diesel upgrade ones that were stationed on the Golan; the main gun shown is incorrect showing the 84mm, as the 105mm gun on the upgrade Centurion did not have a weight bar attached to the bore evacuator.
you didn't specify WHAT engines, mr. picky.
Go on, name what engine it originally used, and what it was replaced with?
