My father had one - the watch stopped at the moment of his death on his wrist. A few years ago, I started my watch story with an Orient watch. Last month, I bought one for my daughter - the story goes on.

I work in the funeral business and you would be surprised at how many windup watches and grandfather clocks etc STOP at the moment of a loved one's death. Heard this at least 50 times (out of more than 3k funerals).

Retired watchmaker here: The older Orient movements are derived from Seikos, with limited interchangeability of parts. Although based on Seiko, they are, IMO, not quite as robust but nevertheless good quality. Every one that ever crossed my bench was shock-resistant - there's no such thing as shock Proof - I've even repaired Rolex and Piaget with broken balance staffs! Someone asked about Doxa. All of those that I repaired were top-quality Swiss but very few, if any, were shock resistant.

I've had an Orient Kamasu for about 5 years. It's a robust watch with all the features needed in a diver/sports watch. It's a member of the Seiko family, and for the price, it's a fine watch if you are getting into Automatic watches.✌🏾

Fantastic value for Orient. Highly recommend for the budget shopper. My Bambino is elegant and dressy. My Mako II is a great every day diver. The bracelet broke on the Mako after about a year but it looks great on a NATO strap now anyway.

Orient has been huge in South American markets for decades now, and many watches from 70s and 80s can still be found in all conditions, all working and usually very inexpensive to buy and maintain. I myself have two vintages older than me (one resembles that on the video, but mine's on leather) and a modern Kamasu II diver, all three flawless. My late maternal grandfather was a master of many trades in a small fishing village in Brazil and he always worn Orients too due to their epic reliability. I often see older relations from his time still wearing "Tristars".
Keeping on the channel's theme, i highly suggest looking into the dress models collectively know as Bambinos.

I am suprised and happy to see a video on this channel that is about watches. Indeed I own two dresswatches. One is the Orient Bambino Automatic RA-AP0003S10B. I love that timepiece. Reliabel, clean design and with the small second indicator a little more old fashion. It was and after years of wearing still is worth every Euro I spend for it.
When I want a classic look and dont want to wear a pocket watch this is the one.

As someone in Japan, I got my two Orient open heart watches for about 30% cheaper than they're sold in the U.S. They are well worth it. I'm fairly picky and the next better (more expensive watch) that I would go for is at least 3 times more expensive.

After a few Casios which I love, my first nice watch was a bambino with rose gold metal and a chocolate dial. The dial and red brown strap match with my girlfriend’s birthstone. I got the watch as my half of a couples accessory. I have my watch to match her and she has a necklace with our birthstones.

Orient makes great watches. Sizing of their dress watches is an issue though. I'm not into 42mm dress watches. Sporty watches fine. Not for dress. I also like baume mercier for dress although they're a bit big sized too. I also have tag, oris, omega, and tudor.

As an avid watch collector - I agree with most of this content. I have nothing but love for Orient Watches. However there are a LOT of other GREAT alternatives that are JUST as good if not better for the money. First is Casio. Only possible downside it that all Casio watches are quartz, however they are GREAT watches. Second Timex. Again so many great watches, and I absolutely love the rerelease of Q line as well as the Marlins. Citizen. Those ecodrive quartz are solar powered and will probably last longer than you will. Seiko Presage. Again GREAT watches. From China - San Martin from Aliexpress. Those are probably the BEST higher end watches automatics I have seen for a long time.

I have Seiko's, Timex, Lorus and Orient in my 80+ watch collection (also includes some higher end pieces).
For value for what you get (especially with Seiko price bumps) I'd say Orient is better.
That said Presage is awesome and the SUP880 solar Tank I have from Seiko is also lovely - Cartier and Jaeger LeCoultre vibes.

Hey. Appreciate your work! I wonder where can I ask question about style. So far I haven't found any special form, so I ask here. A few days before I was at a job interview with the head of department I might work under. And he pulled off nice look with casual trousers with no stripes. It seemed they had been meant to be worn as dress trousers and they were also a bit on a shorter end of the scale - just covering his ankles while standing, no further, but he still looked nice. He also had casual sneakers and a sweater. I really liked it. So the question is: is it appropriate to wear casual sneakers, "dressed down" trousers and a sweater/shirt/T-shirt/polo? Although I'd like to hear from the team, any piece of advice is appreciated. Maybe also recommend me how to contact the team

If you have a smaller budget you can't go wrong with orient , still neither of them is my Favorite watch , which is the Zeppelin Hindenburg lz129 from German Watch maker company Pointtec , a very basic miyota movement , quality of materials and finishing is just ok , the leather strap looks and sounds cheap kinda like plastic , but the Bauhaus Minimalistic design , arabic Numerals and the wonderful and funny looking hands combined with a good memory i have with this watch , makes it my favorite , interestingly it's my second cheapest purchase ever , i paid less than 200 dollars .
