Loved this Teddy! A bit tongue in cheek and a bit of fun, the grandpa sweater joke was hugely funny as well, I don’t think I’ve ever laughed at a Teddy video before but the self deprecating style was brilliantly executed.
Here's what I did when I got into watch collecting: I looked over the top watches that I liked for almost a year without acquiring one. Some were affordable while others were too expensive for my budget. Then, when the right occasion came (in my case, a career milestone), I purchased the one watch that I favored most throughout the entire year (a mid-range price model) and also got three different styles of bands/straps to wear with it on different occasions (leather, Milanese, and rubber). This checked off most, if not all boxes I had wished for my first piece. Very happy with it and I now have a better sense of what other watches will complement my collection in the future.
I have actually gotten my friends to start wearing watches because I wear one everyday. I had a bunch of watches I never wore anymore and gave them away to my buddies, they have all said they enjoy wearing them. Making more watch fans out here just for you Teddy. On the one portion about what watches people buy, the collecting journey, etc. I'm glad I'm fairly bounced around and just get what I like. I have exactly one rule for watches I buy. Sapphire. That's my one rule. When I was younger I bought some watches with mineral crystals, and just because of how I wear watches, the activities I do, etc - they all end up scratched. By contrast, I don't have a single scratched sapphire crystal. Even my Marathon MSAR that's been my primary daily watch for the better part of a decade now, the sapphire is untouched. As clear as the day I bought it.
Great video Teddy! Had a good laugh out of it. In any case, thank you for the content this year, it was very comprehensive and most important.. entertaining. Happy new year!
Well that was FUN. Reasserts that there are absolutely too many points of view on the subject and that many have opinions on watches for which they have precious little knowledge of whether historical, aesthetic, or even *sigh* , basic pronunciation of the brands they are talking about. Happy New year to YOU, Teddy! Thanks for always enjoyable content! 🥳⌚️
Well done video. There are so many watch channels out there now and folks who may not be that educated about watches or brands can easily be mislead. You always maintain a professional demeanor and know what you're talking about. Thanks for that and keep it up. Happy New year.
I really enjoyed your video, Teddy. My Rolex Explorer has been the "Love" of my watch life for 18 years now. When I saw it on the screen during the video, my heart skipped a beat with that aesthetic arrest that one can't readily described. Sometimes a watch simply has a mystique that transcends rational reasons for owning one. It doesn't hurt that the Explorer was Ian Flemings choice and is associated with the first conquest of Everest. I'm looking forward to future content from you in the new year. Cheers!
I really enjoyed sitting with you while you watched these and reacted. These really made me smile a lot. ... well except when that lady took a cheap shot at Seiko ...ggrrrrrrrr!!!
My wife bought me my first real watch (Apple Watch and fossil I never wore). A rubber strap Mido Ocean Star 200c. Absolutely in love with it. Have been watching your channel for a while now and took my time in picking out my first real watch. Keep up the great content and thanks for guiding in my introduction to this unique world.
I bought the Seiko Speedtimer Panda and it hasn’t left my wrist since I got it. Such a cool watch and the solar quartz is such a cool concept. Also got the Orange Seiko 5 GMT, the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 with the green crosshair dial, and a Longines Hydroconquest Ceramic in anthracite. Those are my big four and I honestly don’t feel the need to get anything “bigger or better.” Tudor has gotten my eye, so in the future I’m thinking of a Style or vintage Prince Date. But I’m happy with my lil collection that I have! Maybe once I hit the lottery I’ll be able to get a Starbucks or Batman GMT on that Jubilee.
The sweater makes you a watch dad lol. Love this Video! in fact love all the videos you have been creating. Keep the Energy rolling you will hit the Million subscriber mark soon. Take care and have a very blessed holiday to you and your family and loved ones. Cheers Dude!
I agree with the watch cycle, I also get to the point that I get bored and stop paying attention to them, just wear that one quartz diver that's ready to go everyday, then one day I pick up one of my automatics to wind it and I start getting that feeling again, and all of a sudden I'm searching the internet for the best price on that next watch I can't stop thinking of. What I also learned is you will never just stop, once you get your "grail" watch, you won't be satisfied, just your level moves up.
Very entertaining and enjoyable video, as I am over 60. I am certainly a Dad (also because I have a daughter), but it is interesting to realize that watches fell of the radar of the younger generation since the introduction of the apple watch, and especially since the cell phone which all have integrated time. But I can see that the watch is making a important come back, as if they (the younger generation) just discovered its appeal! Let not tell them, and give them the credit of this new found trend!
Yes It must can run GPS. Have a camera and run Spotify without phone with internal memory. Be water resistant. Shock and dust resistant. And have weeks of battery life. 511 watch or similar. Having a watch that only gives you the time is waste of money unless you like to show off something luxury in some circles and impress other boring watch collectors XD. I collect watches too but this is true.
Nicely done Teddy! Good change up…. Out of curiosity, what watch were you wearing in this video? I tried my hardest to zoom and identify! lol thanks and happy new year!
The artificial voice butchering all brand names at the beginning triggered my gag reflex. "Blank Pain" indeed. Happy New Year, Teddy! Here's to another year filled with great watch videos. Cheers! //Rick

10:46 In the circles I’m in, when I see a Rolex, I can safely make an assumption that the person wearing it got their first “real bonus.”
Happy New Year Teddy! I have enjoyed your videos since you came on the watch UA-cam scene several years ago. Look forward to watching in 2024.
Love this playful side of your content Teddy. A curator of good taste and a genuinely good dude.
Teddy is Gold Standard for manners and class , as well as knowledge and insight.
Thank you Teddy and team for all the great content on watches throughout the past few years!
Really fun video. Well done staff and Teddy! Thx for a year of quality content.
Cheers!
Thanks for raising awareness for scammers in comments. Not many youtubers are doing this.
TikTok almost succeeds in getting on Teddy's nerves, but only the grandpa sweater 😂 love this type of videos in a while
I really enjoyed sitting with you while you watched these and reacted.
Yes
It must can run GPS.
Teddy - really a nice video to end the year,, and in my humble opinion, you ROCK the dad sweater!!
Teddy, is that a GS White Birch I spy on your wrist? :D
Nicely done Teddy! Good change up…. Out of curiosity, what watch were you wearing in this video? I tried my hardest to zoom and identify! lol thanks and happy new year!
I guess my watch collection covers all the points made here. Thanks for all the great videos Teddy!
I love how out of teddys comfort zone this video is! More!
The artificial voice butchering all brand names at the beginning triggered my gag reflex. "Blank Pain" indeed.
Happy New Year, Teddy! Here's to another year filled with great watch videos. Cheers! //Rick
