What are the prices you paid for each watch? We all know what you told what we don’t know is the prices you paid which is the most important info for someone planning to go buy or even consider to travel Japan.
Hi, i will be going to kyoto in sep and i saw that beautiful watch that you bought…that citizen bow head if i hear it correctly. May i know what is the exact model? Thank you :)
I got a SARX033 from Samurai Joy. Small shop and the owner was awesome. It's on the 3rd floor in Nakano, in the top (right?) corner down a ways from Jackroad. It's kind of tucked in a corner. Ended up getting my Grand Seiko in Kyoto at Big Moon.
I love how you apreaciatte the watches fully on their beauty and functionality and never let that snob dialogue of "quartz vs automatic/mechanical" questioned your choice.
I’m heading there for 13 days this month, I have a list of all the places I want to stop for vintage and new watches: - Samurai Joy Nakano - Shellman - Ginza - Antique Corleone - Firekids Shibuya - Antique Watch Carese Midtown - JackRoad and Betty Nakano - Kitamura Camera - Quark Shinjuku - Ishida Best / Vintage Shinjuku - Kurono Tokyo - Bookoff Shinawaga
Just saw this on my home page, not even a watch collector, just casually searching for budget daily watches. Stayed because of how well made this video is. Awesome job!
About 11 years ago I used to live in Japan but then I was a student and poor.. and also not that into watches.. watching this video brings back so many amazing memories of one of the best times of my life. I met my wife there and I wish to go back there.. funnily enough she bought me a fossil watch as my first gift back then.. hopefully this time it will be something nicer! Thank you for sharing - wonderful video
I’ve had three grand Seiko. Love the brand. Expert Ziratzu polishing. And the spring drive is much more accurate than any automatic or manually wound mechanical movement.
Great choices. That citizen bullhead is the sweetest of the three. 👍👍 Enjoyed taking us with you on a virtual watch shopping trip. I know one of my good friends is going to Japan soon and looking to pick up a watch to mark and remember the occasion. I think your video will help with his own journey to find THE watch(es).
I love Japan and its culture and have always wanted to visit. I recently have taken an interest in watches and after seeing this video I love Japan even more. Awesome content bro!
Hey dude. Wanted to let you know that I just visited Osaka > Kyoto > Tokyo -- just returned -- and your video was a huge help in me getting right watches to commemorate my trip! This was my watch pilgrimage/honeymoon (to my wife, lol), and I picked up a Seiko GMT SBSC-009 (Japan Limited), a G-Shock GA-2100NNJ-8A, and a Kuoe Royal Smith from Kyoto. Got them at various spots - Bic Camera Yurakucho Tokyo, and Kyoto, and Bic camera from Osaka too. Also visited Nakano Broadway and it was a super cool collection of stores, too. But at that point I think I had filled my quota and was satisfied to go home with the 3 watches that I specifically came for - a JDM G Shock, Seiko, and a Kyoto-made one to beat. Thanks very much and keep doing what you're doing bro.
You've basically laid my watch shopping journey out next year. Really appreciate all the shop tips. I was shocked when you got to Kuoe, I asked a friend to pick one up for me when he was in Kyoto. We have the exact same model! That OldSmith really punches above it's weight.
I will be back again! Good luck on your journey. The Old Smith is such an easy watch to wear and looks great. BTW - I've come across your Vietnam XT20 video before years ago when I used to shoot with that camera. I kind of miss it haha. Thanks for stopping by!
That BIC camera in Yurakocho is gold!!! I've been in a couple of BIC camera branches and I can say that the watch collection in there is almost complete! They have Longines and Tudor in there too! Can't wait to get back on that branch!
Thanks man! I really needed a video that can teach enthusiasts about the different locations in Japan to Shop for watches. I really hope to travel to Japan one day to buy some good pieces.
I was very unimpressed by the Grand Seiko stores in Japan as well. However the Citizen store was awesome. I went in thinking I was going to get a GS but left with a Citizen. And the store staff all gathered together when I left and waved me off. And they gave me a nice gift to boot. Best customer service ever.
Magnificent video, Chris. Japan is for the moment a fairly-distant bucket-list destination for me, but I *have* satisfied my desire for yet another JDM indulgence virtually (incoming Seiko Presage SARW025 Laurel tribute), which I've been sort of joneseing for the last several years. Very happy you found your happy discoveries while there…and, the unexpected surprises are almost always the best ones.
i went there with a plan to get only the Kuoe watch. i ended up getting two more, one Seiko SRPG31 and one Citizen Tsuyosa. i still wanted more but couldnt afford them lol. Japan really is a watch enthusiast heaven.
I just came back from a Japan trip myself and had the exact same impression after visiting the Wako GS flagship boutique. I ended up finding one of my grails at the BIC store!
Yodobashi Camera is another great place for everyday watches. Don Quijote also have good affordable watches like Casio. I spread out my JDM purchases, so whenever I go to Japan I look forward to getting another one. Great video, cheers!
I have a Tuna SBDB013, A Citizen Promaster autozilla (also have there Orca SE on the way) and my dress is a Dornbluth 99.1 custom made, I have had many divers (and watches generel) and a Tuna is second to none as a true diver. Great video, thanks for taking the time.
I really like Japanese watches, for different reasons, first of all we all love Japan, Secondly good quality and affordable watches with great designs. They really gave a nice and alternative flavor to the watch industry.
I smiled through this entire vid because i literally did this same trip when i was in japan six weeks ago. Went to every spot you mentioned minus samurai, wanted to purchase something from fire kids (but ran out of budget for it), but funny enough I also purchased the same 35mm cream dial Kuoe oldsmith (but opted for the date version).
I spent time at the Kurono Aoyama Salon in January, and I saw the watch I really wanted to buy initially, the GMT 1. The lady who was talking to us informed me that they still had some in the back, as the VIPs hadn't collected since its release, and she could call her manager to see if I could take it instead. Unfortunately it was a few days before I left Japan, and I spent a large part of the budget travelling, but my god if I had the money I'd have taken it. It was gorgeous in person. I did, however, buy the book that you're seen reading with the Chronograph on. Really cool location, and I do recommend anyone to visit.
I needed this last month when I was in Tokyo lol. Ended up at Nakano and visited the same stores you did. Jack Road & Betty is absolutely worth the visit. I was there for over two hours looking at everything. Got my Grand Seiko at Ginza Wako and a Longines at Fire Kids in Nakano. That Fire Kids store is really awesome!!! They have a youtube channel as well! That Citizen you picked up is NUTS!
Recently got back from Japan where I bought my very first Grand Seiko: the SBGA011! Can't believe I forgot to visit Kuoe while I was in Kyoto, but I guess that's another reason to go back next year!
I came upon your UA-cam channel and I must say that it's among the greatest ones I've seen. It has excellent dialogue, well-executed editing, and your wife hitting you in the face overall great video.
I had the opportunity of visiting Japan last year with my family. We managed to get to BIC Camera where I was able to purchase a Casio-Oak for myself and a Seiko 5 Automatic for the Mrs to commemorate our 1st trip there. I was hoping to get to Nakano Broadway but missed out due to the tight schedule. Kyoto was amazingly beautiful but unfortunately, Kuoe was unknown to me at the time. Your trip brought back many fond memories. I especially love the example of the Citizen Bullhead and Kuoe Old Smith that you acquired to commemorate your trip. Thank you for the Video, I’m officially subscribed to your channel.
I just returned from 3 weeks in Osaka and Shikoku. I came home with a Seiko SPB381 diver/gmt green dial. I love the watch. I purchased from Seiko Boutique in Shinsaibashi. Shopping for watches in Osaka is also mind blowing. I bought the Seiko at about 20% below US msrp. The IWC watches I priced were not at any discount compared with the US. Customs agent in Boston let me through without paying duty. I enjoyed your video. The production quality is excellent. Thanks! PS I just subscribed.
not so sure about the bull head or the seiko chrono but that, Kuoe mechanical dress watch is a beauty. I think that watch will pair with many outfits and add a bit of flair to everyday.
Just flew back from Japan today and picked up a GS Shunbun while there. Kyoto was my favorite city and will need to get a Kuoe when I go back. Great picks and love the Citizen in particular!
Thanks for making this. I’m a digital nomad who’s had his eye on a Seiko chronograph, but the import taxes are too high in the country I’m currently in. I was curious about the pricing in Japan. You’ve given me a reason to head back to Tokyo sooner rather than later.🍻
Japan is my favorite place to shop for watches. You should look at the pre-owned market for Swiss watches in Japan, including Rolex, Breitling, Omega, etc. Watches that you can't usually find in the US and Europe can be found in Japan at better prices.
omg..I think I fell in love with the Kuruno Tokyo Chronograph blue dial. I was i Japan last year and did not know about the BIC Camera store at all. Will make a visit for sure! Thank you for the info!
Hope you all enjoyed my journey! Here is a list of the featured stores in this video if you'd like to follow along:

Any 1980-70 and mid 90’s Rolex with jubilee bracelets 😅
Hi, i will be going to kyoto in sep and i saw that beautiful watch that you bought…that citizen bow head if i hear it correctly. May i know what is the exact model? Thank you :)

This place is very cool
both shops are awesome
Would love to visit Firekid's when i visit Japan
Fire Kids, do you have some left? I’m coming next year!!! 😊
I love how you apreaciatte the watches fully on their beauty and functionality and never let that snob dialogue of "quartz vs automatic/mechanical" questioned your choice.
Life is too short to be a snobby collector. Especially when there are so any great watches out there! Thanks for watching :)

Outstanding storytelling! Looking forward to more of these from you.
Dude, i like your videos, and the slap... haha, keep them humor... awesome stuff

Great local watch info. Love it! Thanks.
Was there in 2019 and grabbed a JDM Monster at Ginza. Love this video - thanks for sharing
I visited Nakano Broadway around the same time and was mesmerised by that rainbow rolex
Love watching this video. Simply entertaining with a funny twist 😊
Heading to Tokyo early next year - great insights and info to assist my watch-hunting!
You got yourself a new subscriber! Awesome video. Got Lucky enough to get a GS GMT Spring Drive that had a wrong price tag last November. 🎉
Banger vid, nice man!
Kuoe! I have the Old Smith 90-002 in 38 and I love it. Good choice. Sounds like a great experience.
What an amazing video! Loved the trip vlog format, you editing is freaking awesome as well.

I didn't have time to make it to the flagship Citizen store. Maybe next time! Thanks for watching!
Well done. I also have a vibtage Citizen Bullhead. My vintage watch dealer gave to me as a gift. I love it.
Amazing video. Not only very helpful as I'm planning to go to Japan. But also very entertaining and educational

BEAUTIFULLY shot, and reminded me of my recent trip to Japan doing nearly the same thing. Picked myself up a Seiko JDM in Bic Camera, too!
I just came back from a Japan trip myself and had the exact same impression after visiting the Wako GS flagship boutique. I ended up finding one of my grails at the BIC store!
i’m a huge mother of pearl watch fan. You don’t often see them in a men’s watch. I think it looks amazing.
Yodobashi Camera is another great place for everyday watches. Don Quijote also have good affordable watches like Casio. I spread out my JDM purchases, so whenever I go to Japan I look forward to getting another one. Great video, cheers!
Great production and of great use to me as I make my way to Japan soon. I can't believe I have not seen any of your content before.

great video, looking forward to going to Japan myself someday
My dream is to go to Japan and search and purchase vintage watches…… ahhhhh you sir did it ! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 great picks
Nice pickups, I especially like the Bullhead. I would be in heaven (but also broke) if we had watch shops like that where I live
Wow, thank you for this! Just ordered Kuoe’s Royal Smith 90-010. Can’t wait to recieve it. And now I know where to go when I visit Japan 🙏🏻🥰
You won't be disappointed! Thanks for watching!
The cinematography is 💯 so you've earned a subscriber. 😊

Great video. This temporarily scratch my itch to go watch shopping in Japan. Maybe consider adding a list of shops and address in the description.
Thanks a lot! I took your suggestion and added it as a pinned comment :)
Next level production 🔥

I will be in Tokyo and Kyoto this coming November and you have given me ideas to satisfy my shopping addiction.
Man, i love your cinematic style and your taste in watches!
Recently got back from Japan where I bought my very first Grand Seiko: the SBGA011! Can't believe I forgot to visit Kuoe while I was in Kyoto, but I guess that's another reason to go back next year!

Why do I agreed with all of your choices?! Guess we have the same taste. Kudos on your watch journey.
Epic trip! So glad you picked up an Old Smith. I'm really drawn to the Kuoe Royal Smith.
Absolutely! Kuoe is definitely getting the recognition it deserves. Thanks for watching :)
I loved the video man! Thank you
That angular case bullhead is awesome, Congrats
My experience tells me to take all the time you need to find the one to buy.
Great storytelling and great job editing 👏
Very nice production . Nice watches .
Appreciate it!
Been looking for the black one of the bullhead! So glad you found one!
Just curious, how much was it?
That Citizen is gorgeous. Absolute stunner with a lot of character.
They don’t make them like they used to 😆. Thanks for watching!
Pulling production from the 500k sub level... but only 20k?? Mad respect. You're doing great. Keep going. Subbed.
I really appreciate it! 🙌
not so sure about the bull head or the seiko chrono but that, Kuoe mechanical dress watch is a beauty. I think that watch will pair with many outfits and add a bit of flair to everyday.
Love your storytelling with some sense of humor 😁👌🏻
Thank you! 🙏
Amazing content! Perfect direction and editing! Cheers from a new sub in Bengaluru India ❤
I typically dont love bull heads but that one is AMAZING!
That's a slick Citizen. Love the band, reminds me of the Zenith Defy bands.
I have the black and gold 1000m my wife bought it for me when I graduated from the academy. It was $600 in the 80s ❤❤❤
Wow, that’s a great piece. Thanks for sharing 🙌
Just flew back from Japan today and picked up a GS Shunbun while there. Kyoto was my favorite city and will need to get a Kuoe when I go back. Great picks and love the Citizen in particular!
What better place and time to pick up a Shunbun. Congrats!
Loved the video. Just finished my trip and visited all the spots you mentioned. Ended up with a GS.
Pleas go back to Japan again. What a fantastic video. Loved the camera work and the editing in a few parts. Really good stuff
Awesome video. The Citizen bull-head is quite nice.
Thanks a lot! I still can’t believe I found that bullhead there… 🙏
I found one of these on ebay that was fully serviced and switched the dial to yellow and its my favorite piece!
Thanks for making this. I’m a digital nomad who’s had his eye on a Seiko chronograph, but the import taxes are too high in the country I’m currently in. I was curious about the pricing in Japan. You’ve given me a reason to head back to Tokyo sooner rather than later.🍻
keep on making this kinda videos! great content!

Great video man! Now you're tempting me to visit Ginza fr 😋
You won’t regret it haha. Thanks for watching!
why didn't you put any of the other watch prices?
Seiko is a great brand. Nice choices too.
Interested in knowing other Japanese brands.
Very jice video, loved it. Would've liked to see even more of the watches on display!
omg..I think I fell in love with the Kuruno Tokyo Chronograph blue dial. I was i Japan last year and did not know about the BIC Camera store at all. Will make a visit for sure! Thank you for the info!
Your story telling is on point
Appreciate it!
