Star Citizen - FREE eye/head tracker!
If you don't already know I'm a fresh SC player attempting life in the Verse. feel free to come along for my (probably terrible) journey and give me some hints and tips!
In this one I figure out how to use the in game head tracker which is actually pretty decent!

AI Track + opentrack doesn’t do eye/face tracking but for just head tracking it’s leagues better than the in-game one.
I've no doubts! I tried setting it up, but it was a cluster for me, I found this works pretty well, even with a poor camera! So for ease of use it's definitely an option. But thanks for the other ones too!
How did you manage to get it to work? I can get the octapus to move but the camera is messed up in calibration, either black, or pure static.

Ooo, this is big help. I've been messing with these settings off/on for a while. Gonna try to wash out the color and see if that helps.

Great video - can you do a follow up and share whether or not FOIP free-look will also work with gimballed weapons set to the freelook cursor? Head-tracked gimballed guns sounds incredibly useful.

Doing this but using Droidcam on my s23 ultra as well as my gaming rig and it seems pretty good to me

yeah may take some fiddling about and a bit of light on your face but it's £200 cheaper than an eyetracker 🤣👌
How cool is that, I've always used a old phone via 3rd party software for a webcam, wonder if that would work

Your are correct! Just make sure there's some light on your face and it should be ok matey!
Did you try using the Razer Kiyo for the FOIP and the Headtracking features? The Built-In I mean in SC. I've been trying to decide between a Logitech C922 or the Razer Kiyo (Tobii it's too expensive and i wanted both FOIP and Headtracking)
I have used the razer yeah works fine, I assume the c922 will as well however. Kiyo has that built in light though that maybe handy. It worked with a super cheap Microsoft cam so any should 'technically' be good 👍
@@ThatBreaKguy Thank you for the fast answer! I read that the system as trouble in low light conditions so the Kiyo may be better, I'll have to keep thinking about the two models lol
@Major Kairos no problem matey! A bit of light does seem to help so depends if you already have a light? If not, kiyo may be the better choice. But check prices!
BLEW My MIND
I've been looking at getting eye tracker for SC for ages now - just didnt know if i wanted to drop the $250 on it or not.... had no idea it was built in. always noticed the settings were there but i assumed they were for those using the actual eye tracker stuff..
Well I only realised when I was looking at alternatives, and went deeper down the rabbit hole and realised this works 😅 hopefully you can get it going and at least give it a good try 🤷🏻♂️

Have you tried TrackIR? If so, how does this compare?
I dabbled briefly track IR has mote setup to do and obviously download the program and it will be better, but just for speed, ease and the fact I didn't even know the game had this built in, it isn't too shabby!

They’ve had this in for about 4 years now. Imagine how revolutionary it seemed in 2018.
I didnt even realise you could fully utilise it, I see people with the eye trackers and stuff I fidnt realise this could be a way of getting an idea of what its like without the spend so thought I'd share 😁
Does a better web cam mean better tracking? Also I know that an app on the AppStore will do the same thing but would the iPad pros facial recognition and LiDAR help it to work better?
I used a cheap Microsoft camera to see if that would work and it did, so I'm sure it would help but if a crappy camera works then I'm sure yours should buddy

Is trackIR necessary? Whenever i press calibrate i just get black screens.

@@ThatBreaKguy After I get my settings in order, select my camera, even checking if its all good in the console, whenever I press the calibrate button and that window appears, it's not showing anything, just a black screen, and both calibrated and is tracking are false.

this is in arena commander, just a racetrack. kinda based on orison I would think, the floating city in game

what's it doing? should load up a cam of you with some orange dots on you, check your cam is all working of course and the right one is selected!

Ah, that's crap then, mine worked using a cheap ass camera so if you find one knocking about 🤷🏻♂️
