- Welcome to #AStarCitizensHardwareGuide I am Subliminal and today we will be discussing GameGlass. This guide will be broken down into three parts. This is Part One where we will discuss what #GameGlass is, Explain what you get for free and why I think every Star Citizen should be using it, show exactly what GlassPass Offers and your pricing options, give my recommendations on hardware, and what upcoming features I am excited about. Part Two will be a Tutorial on how you can create your own custom shard. And Part Three, will be a full review of both, the officially licensed #StarCitizen Shards, and GameGlass as a product itself. Full disclosure the first two videos are sponsored.

I hope that once the starmap changes, they have a way to implement that so you don'y have to keep opening it in-game and instead, plot a destination from your tablet
Can't wait for this to be a thing.
Would be nice if you have a list with QT destinations instead of scrolling & zooming through the (bad) map.
On your Car-Navi you don't scroll around on the map, but instead simply enter the destination, so why should this not be working in SC?
Also this system would allow you to safe locations and share (aka sell) them to other players (which would be the basis of the exploration gameplay)
Agreed!
@@Sarados1980 selling exploration data to another player?! that would mean everything to a explorer.
I wrote my own voice command app. Unfortunately, the devs kept changing the mapping. I'll revisit the app, but only when i don't have to change the keys every time a new patch is posted.
After years of ED and now finally jumping into star citizen.... How did I forget about this?!?!!!!
This really is awesome! Even without using any other specialized peripherals like sticks, GameGlass tremendously boosts immersion. Just tapping onto one of my two tablets that I had lying around anyways feels way more immersive than spamming some keyboard buttons.
Agreed!
@@SubliminaLstv Could you run it on 2 tablets with both inputting commands to the game? Let's say you had one running the combat shard and a second with the pilot shard.
If I had API level access to the game, I'd be so damn happy.
I went to get your shard. Looks like probably the best shard design I have seen. Well done!
Thanks, glad you like it!
holy shit the timing on this is epic,... I was just getting back into star citizen, have used the basic version of gameglass for a while,... excellent content idea, sir!
Glad you like it!
Yeah... I did not wait till the end of the video to grab your new shard. Thanks for the update!
Nice glad you like it. Stay tuned to the channel discord for updates.
A lot of talk, yes, BUT, they have talked so much at random times about APIs for things, or, things LIKE api level access just for the web,... back in the day I remember the talk about having the ability for us to interact with markets/comms from our mobile devices, to keep us connected to the 'verse, even when we're not at the rig.
Love this guide, cant wait for pt2 and 3. Lets get it!!
Can't wait to make it!
Welcome back! I really enjoy Game Glass and look forward to trying out other pilots' shards.
Glad to hear it!
Really cool. Started using GameGlass after watching this video and I can't go back now. It's so useful and cheap.
how did you connect it?
@@Gucc1Man514 What do you mean? It's as simple as downloading the app, logging in and picking the shard on my ipad. Also running their software on my pc. It does everything automatically
@@dominodancin it worked but i had to restart the app on my pc
I'd recommend sim dashboard over this. I tried game glass once for elite and it's pretty comparable to sim dashboards in terms of functionality. The reason I'd recommend that over game glass is mostly on the price, customisation and pre made designs. $34 for 12 month game glass sub but $12.99 for lifetime on sim dashboard. Then on top of that you have to pay for designs with game glass which are all included free with the lifetime membership on sim dashboard.
I'd also say sim dash board is more versatile as you can upload custom images, buttons, switches etc from a library of thousands or you can create your own and use them... Overall it has a lot more customisation. Game glass shards all look the same to me but with different button layouts. It's also compatible with most other sims that have an API available to pull data from. It can still work with games with no public API yet like SC you just wont be able to pull data from the game.
im glad its worked for you, all i get is 404 page not found if i try do anything thats free on this site
Ad blocker? CTRL+Shift+R. Different browser?
Or maybe CIG can just add a key bind for LANDING SERVICES! I have been begging for that for years and they even talked about it once on Star Citizen Live after I asked about it a couple of years ago. They said it wouldn't be super hard but do enough people need it to actually work on it. Yes CIG, we do.
Agreed.
It will be in 3.17
You can set it as a key bind manually, I suggest f3.
It's here now in flight-movement at the very bottom in advanced customization for keybinds.
@@priv8_nobodybutmyaltaccoun765 suggest alt + N, really intuitive
THANK YOU for this through walkthrough of Game Glass! This finally addressed the hardware requirement questions I had in an easy to understand format! I figured I wanted to get some Amazon tablets on a good sale to save on the expense. And I now know that GG doesn't need a $200.00 tablet to run correctly! 😁👍
Glad to help!
I Reluctantly left LEA extended impute after being locked out of server by SSL/TLS problems I could not fix, I purchased Game Glass back in 2019 but never set it up because of lacking features it appears now to have arrived, and your videos are excellent, sorry I reperched before I saw your videos, I will be studying your videos extensively to get back into the build, Thank You, and Keep Posting
You can get refurbished touchscreen chrome book for around $80 which would probably be better than most tablets at that price point
I've seen folks talk about Game Glass, but have been leery of jumping in. It seemed overly complicated. Heading over now. Thanks, Sub!
Its super easy. Just download the desktop and mobile apps and sign into them.
Damn! that looks awesome! thank you for the guide!
Thanks for watching!
PLEASE CIG GIVE GAME GLASS API SUPPORT. I would love to have the exact mfd on my iPad.
Imagine not relying on a mouse as much or a keyboard as much. IMMERSION for the sake of IMMERSION
I KNOW RIGHT!!!
Another alternative to this is touch portal. It's what I use rather than a stream deck. Works the same way as game glass but has api support with alot of programs.
I have never heard of this and just tried it with my Ipad. Works like a charm and even the sound effects from the gameglass on my ipad get piped into my headphones. Not sure how it does that but it's pretty cool also!
So cool, will have to look into this when I find my tablet
ROFL 😂
I've been using your gameglass shard, its pretty darn solid. Now I just need to get me a Fire tablet..
Nice, glad you like it!
Great video and the production value is *don't say "out of this world", don't say "out of this world"....*
STELLAR.
Glad you liked it lol 😂
Nice review! I only wish that as opposed to the monthly / yearly subscriptions there would be a one time fee instead while still being able to buy stuff from the market. That being said, you have some cool equipment there to mount your tablets. You should do a video on what you use to give Star Citizen players ideas on how to build their setup!
API Mobi map and Traffic Control would be absolutely a must have.
Tell CIG to make it a priority lol
Wow I'm really interested in those tablet mounts! Hope youll do a video on them. If I can set them up as neat as you did, I can even use them for work stuff. Thanks for the video, look forward to the rest of them.
I do plan on doing a predator mount review but not shure if it will be soon. These mounts are pre-production they aren't on sale yet. But there is a link on links.subliminal.gg to their store. Make sure to use code SUBLIMINAL if you pick anything up it will save you 5%.
Thanks for this, and now researching for more..look forward to your follow ups 👍
Thanks for watching!
Great video dude!
Thanks for watching!
I had no idea this existed. This is a game changer!
Glad I could help!
Been using a Fire HD 10 Plus for nearly a year now with GameGlass. Which is kind of funny as I bought the Fire for work. I run my Electronic Drivers log on it in addition to using it for Audible while driving. Just wish I could play SC when I have to park my truck for rest breaks. lol
Edit: Oh ya. Hell yes. Would love for CIG to create an API that GameGlass could use to have a remote mobiGlas window. Or heck, even an API that would allow mirroring Ship MFD's.
Nice 👍
this video made my jump for it bought a cheap used fire and gana get a stand or some thing for it you should make a video on any thing you can do to make these things more immersive like any cases or holders great video told me every thing i wanted to know
this is great for more imersion, but i do think voice attack is better, you can do it all with speech without having to move your hand from the controller/mouse :)
Wish there were more control panels out there. This has been on my mind since a friend showed me it. I would rather have something more physical but I don't even know what you call these, as control panel doesn't seem to be the right term
I"ve been playing for a while now and was thinking how it would be cool to have some physical switches like a pilot would have, but this sure sounds easier than building that!
Great video! I had an older iPad and tried it out, I liked it, but there was some lag between the presses and activation in game. So at the Black Friday sale I got a 10 in Fire Tablet and it is much faster. I use the keyboard holders on each of my VKB mounts to hold them. With the Hero buttons feature I have one whole tablet that is the power triangle and it is awesome. I run the Avionics shard on the other one. I too really hope the do APIs so we can have actual MFDs on the tablets. If you could run the Comms MFD on a tablet, that would be your Landing Services button right there.
Good to know 😊
I gave this a try but soon put it away. It may be simply an issue with my setup but I found there was a significant lag between input on the tablet and activation in the game, sometimes as much as several seconds.
Could be a network issue.
I'm absolutely buying this.
i want to see more detailed mfd. example, in game u can turn power on and off to specific components like ur quantum drive, weapons, coolers esc, or changing the individual component power in the event u loose a engine and need to balance out your thruster amount. would love having a tablet specific to detailed mfds.
CIG has to make an API that will allow third parties to access and change game data. Until then this is just a dream.
Worth pointing out that API access was actually an original Kickstarter goal for the project too. Can't remember if they met it or not Kappa
Really I wasn't around then. They talked about the progress toward API during their live Q&A. I linked it In the description.
sponsor you on a video. next second "overpriced cutlass steel". liked before watching lol
You know you can bind one key to request a landing? It's in the keybind settings. Should be pretty easy to set up with this if you had that, or just use another button.
This is a game changer!
I like the idea of swapping better tablets and phones as you improve ships
When I had my t16000 I used the he'll out of this. Iv upgraded to alphas now and don't ever touch it. Food for thought
Where are you buying the clamps that you are using and what are their product numbers?
I put in a lot of time making my own peripherals using EA extended input, which I liked more than Game Glass. But CIG decided that Easy anti cheat should block that app. I was so frustrated that my custom interfaces were made useless. I used GG alongside EA. EA was more customizable, so it had to go, according to CIG. I still gey keyed up about it. Grrrrrr!
I have a free account and run it on an old Samsung note 4 I got for $15 from ebay it works really well
good, that you tell outright that it is sponsored and very informative. a buy once get them all offer would be great as well.
How many different devices can you put your shards on at a single time?
Thanks, I'm not sure if they have said exactly how many you can have but I have had three working simultaneously without issue.
Thank for the review. I’ll try it 👍
Liked,Subed,Belled,Commented.
Thanks for the video man! I got a few old kindles I can use for this!
Report back how it goes. Devices with the "kindle" tag might not be able to run a supported version of Android.
Nice vid. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for an informative video. I am using it and enjoy gg a lot!
Wow, Sub. Lots of work and great production value. Any chance on a two panels shard using your design theme? Having a capacitor triangle with a larger increase button in each corner with a bottom reset button is something none of them have. And maybe a bit larger triangles on tabs so it can be easier to use. Just an idea like the making a place on the mouse mat for the keyboard I gave you. Thanks for this and the mouse mat. Referbushed Amazon tablet are dirt cheap.
I have been thinking of doing that. Maybe after show hide logic comes in. After that I may not need a second shard. Although I still like to have 2 tables because it looks dope.
@@SubliminaLstv it does look cooler. Abigger triangle with buttons would be cool to if they let you size things.
With the new Hero Component feature they just added, I was able to make my own shard that is full screen power triangle and one that is half screen power triangle and shield facings, in about 2 minutes each. They work amazingly and feels like having a full MFD at your fingertips.
@@majboomer1285 Maybe Sub can do this in his Art style.
Very cool, Sub! 😉👍
Glad you liked it!
@@SubliminaLstv Very handy. Been tryin' to decide which way to go with touchscreens. Appreciate the info! o7
I really like the idea of gameglass, and I tried it for a while with my phone. But I just couldn't fully realize it's potential because I already have a hotas with enough buttons that I can't even map them all for this sorta stuff.
I have 2 Gladiator NXTs and understand what your saying. I just have trouble remembering what I bound.
Same here. My HOTAS is primarily setup for Piloting and Combat. So I find myself primarily using GG for the Power Triangle, Scan Mode, and Mining Operations mostly.
It's for those that want more immersion. Many of the controls you map to your HOTAS wouldn't actually be on a flight stick or throttle, they'd be on a panel somewhere in the cockpit. Things like lights, landing gear, doors to make a few for example.
Thanks for the look o7
SIMPLY AMAZING!!! How many tablets should one plan to buy? I plan on running this for both Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen!
Work with developer to get evac button. Spool drive lock onto nearest jump point and go with one game glass button. To get out of those extreme moments.
Great idea but honestly it almost seems like cheating lol.
@@SubliminaLstv I can understand that. Working with developers we could have multi function i/o was my main point.
Nice review, first time I’ve heard of this and you also answered the one question I was wondering, does it work on Elite Dangerous? Nice set up by the way, I’ll check out your other videos too.👏
I cannot even get the free shared to work, so I am glad I did not have to purchase it and then find out.
As far as hardware, Walmart (here in the states) has a line of cheap and modern tablets in stores.
Good to know.
@@SubliminaLstv around $100 for their 10." Onn brand tablet. It has comparable internals to the Fire tablets without the Amazon bloat. It isn't stock android, but it's pretty close. They also have cheaper 8" and 7" ones. Now that gameglass seems to be allowing me to add shards to my library I'm going to try out their free pilot one on the tablet over the weekend.
Subliminal, I really enjoy your work. Where can we get the iPad holder you are using, I have looked and found nothing that looks as good as what you are using.
I like Gameglass for using that tablet I have laying around, however I find it redundant to Voice Attack with a HCS voice pack, which are both a one time cost... Save for the touchscreen power triangle of GG... I still use that on my phone since my wireless phone charger sits next to my stick.
I have a key-bind for requesting landing and takeoff (I bound it to semicolon) - I would have assumed a button can press any key?
I may have missed a video, but I need to know how to get these shards on my devices and how to get gameglass to get started on my computer. I have the shards, but don' know how to get them on the devices working with my copy of Star Citizen. HELP!
If I have custom keybinds for everything, will my gameglass device understand when I press, say, the Power Button? Or do I need to sync my keybinds to the app?
so i can only use functions that are actually controlled via a feature that is listed in the keybindings? Or is it possible to get the content of a MFD of the ship i am flying on the gameglass device? The thing i am looking for: switching the EMP generator of the Sentinel on and off. Not toggle the charging, not firing it, but power it. AFAIK this is only possible via MFD/guns/ or MFD/power and there is no dedicated keybinding for it. Thanks for help
Awesome content again 👏
I'm having trouble finding some of the keybindings as per your info in the shard.
@Subliminal Are you going to get the Omni-Throttle adapter for your Gladiator NXTs? It's available on their store now but wont ship till after Chinese New Year.
Yes I talked to them and they will be sending it to me after the CNY. Not sure if I'll use it on my right stick but it looks like fun for the left stick.
@@SubliminaLstv I was thinking the same thing about the left and right sticks.
Does GG have a forum for requests? I want to request a slide that can be used as a axis. I could see that being useful for the speed limiter and things like the ping angle pitch.
@@SubliminaLstv actually I just found their Discord and requested it there. I hope it's doable.
That feature is on their roadmap. It's coming soon. Go to their website, and at the bottom of the features page their is a link to their roadmap. Click it and vote for the slider. It's in the in progress tab at the bottom.
You're video is helpful. Awesome. Just don't have the game. Ha ha!
Lol. It's not a game yet. Just a fun tech demo!
I do have some touchscreen computers, and some POS terminals that I want to see if i can run GG on, as it should be more powerful than a tablet, only problem is that POS terminals use speciel powered USB wires and cards.
What operating system does it run?
@@SubliminaLstv Windows 10 on the computers, the POS system I am not sure on yet, as I need the powered usb cord to boot that one up, but it should also be windows, just not sure what version.
GameGlass is a very good product.
What kind of sticks do you use for SC? I could see them, but not figure out what they were.
Would you mind letting me know what the name of the mini table is you are using to place the keyboard and joysticks including the tablet holders on? Thanks.
This looks amazing, I've downloaded it but I can't figure out how to make the background of your shard dark. Currently bright white and hard to make out specifics.... any advice for a noob?
If I pay for the GlassPass do I have to still pay for the Star Citizen shards?
Nope. Glass Pass members get everything included.
Hi thanks for doing a video on this .the big Question for my is how does it work as in how is connected to either your Pc or Star citizen Account ? is is an easy plug in the pc and play ? or do you have to sign in to the game account in gameglass ?
thank you for any info as this looks great I have a Samsung tab that dont get that much use so would be great for it
There is a GG desktop client and a GG Tablet Client. Just sign into both and it works wirelessly. No need to sync with SC account. The desktop client sends your key strokes to the game.
@@SubliminaLstv Thank you for the reply and some great info and content
Which tablet holders are you using? Seem custom made?
Thank you for confirming that the Amazon tablets work while on the toilet; this is the next most important feature next to GG. My biggest issue with tablets on my desk, is having a mount that doesn't get in the way, and also allows charging via cable. Does anyone have a good suggestion for a desk mount for an 8 and 10-inch tablets?
Do you have joystick mounts? I use predator mounts for my sticks and they are releasing a tablet mount that can be moved around. I have a pre-production model in the shots of this video.
@@SubliminaLstv Not yet, but good idea. It would make sense to have them near the sticks.
I have a HOSAS setup with two VKB sticks and I'm using VKB's desk mounts with two of what they call "phone mounts" for my keyboard. They do a good job in that role but were designed for phones/tablets. What seems to be difficult to find are good platforms for a mouse or for a tablet that are stable and have a high degree of adjustability. BUT, a good expandable set of stick mounts is a great place to start. I know it's expensive, but if you really get bitten by the sim bug, it'll be worth the investment.
Agreed. The reason why I promote Predator Mounts is because their kinda cheap. $89 per mount. I'm not shure on the prices for the phoenix mount for tablets but it should be reasonable. They are coming soon.
Only relevant for iPad and Surface tablets but PIVOT cases by FlyBoys have mounting options you can install anywhere - actually designed specifically for in-cockpit use in commercial and military aircraft. I have an iPad mount for my Jeep Wrangler since the mount connection is so strong it gets minimal shaking off-road, they were my first thought for adding a tablet mount near my sticks for trying out game glass.
This is good!
Thanks!
Thanks for the update
Thanks for watching!
They have support for Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries..
Good price for 12 month!
I use two fire tablets because they're super cheap and they work great.
To be honest, as a combat flight sim pilot for ages it's really not a good deal to pay for stuff like this unless it's a one time fee for the entire app, and then the app lets you configure however you want. I can get past the limitations of maybe having a mix of iOS and Android making you need to pay for both apps through both stores, but the app is essentially a controller and has an extremely simple protocol to send to your PC to trigger key inputs and maybe poll the game.
The core simulator in DCS intentionally lets you control the game, and export the game essentially making it open season for anyone to integrate -- professional and hobby which has made development open, free, and fast. Whether it's StreamDeck configurations, HELIOS, DCS-BIOS, direct export LUA integrations etc...you can do it all as it's meant to be done in a supported way.
So is GameGlass just using an HID (human interface device) protocol and mapping screen touches to keyboard strokes on the host / game pc itself? Or does it require a cloud connection routing touches across the wire, through the cloud, and back to your pc - like P2P?
Requires cloud.
I have an old 10" tablet I don't want to replace if I don't have to. Using touch portal and it's quite powerful. Wonder how much work is involved to mimic all this on Touch portal and have community made stuff on the same level.
Game glass simply doesn't run on older devices.
That feature might swing me though 😀
I'm new to this so trying to figure this out. How does the tablet communicate with my desktop? Are you running a cable from the PC to the tablet, or are they connect via bluetooth? Also are you keeping the tablet always plugged in so it doesn't run the battery down or just charging after every play? Thanks for your time and awesome videos.
I’ve tried coordinate mouse input macros and could never get it to work.
I already have mine working. Making a vid soon.
Its amazing! Unless your an android user
hi, what is the table setup you have for your joysticks
I've seen a lot of mounting solutions with 2 or more phone/tablet mounts while looking around, and it always puzzled me.
Finding out about this it all suddenly make sense.
Have you tried Voice Attack?
Yes I have it and the shatner voice pack. I found it less intuitive to use and dealing with voice recognition is a pain. The last thing I need when I say a command like shields max is for the system to think about what I said and not understand and fail to process the command. I do like it's coordinates mouse clicking though, for requesting landing. But as I mentioned in the video I have come up with a workaround using autohotkey and it's works great video on that coming soon.
I've got a current-gen Kindle Fire 10, but the two you have in that video look bigger than that. What bracket are you using for them?
Also, what's the monitor? Samsung G9? I've got one, but haven't hooked it up to my main rig yet because I'd heard there were some issues with S.C. and ultrawide monitors.
i am enjoying your game glass shard it was me using gameglass again since I have anything I might need are you planning on making any more for ships with focuses
Does GG work with android?.. What about secondary Display touch monitors?
IT'S BEEN 9 MONTHS, GIVE US THE GLADIATOR REVIEW!
ITS POOP! OHHHH ROFL 🤣... Your talking about the NXTs? I thouht you were talking about the ship. They are great review coming soon I promise also reviews of more products from VKB coming as well.
@SubliminaL what tablet mount setup are you using on your desk? can I get a link? Thank You as always!
I use predator mounts for mounting my sticks and tablets. The tablet mount is called the phoenix mount but its connected to the stick mounts. www.predatormounts.com?aff=2
