Today's Artist: Paolo Nutini

Paolo Nutini is one of those artists ridiculously underrated, despite his huge talend and his unique voice. If you thought this song sounded good, you should see him performing live. Absolute monster!
This song is actually live
This is a live recording.
@andreaolivieri5042 @ brownwarrieor6867 I know it's a live recording. What I meant was "you should see him performing it live, like being in the audience while he performs it live". I hope this clears the confusion.
I am going to see him live on Tuesday and can not wait love him so glad he has made a come back missed him
Love this bloke such a good singer I think they blocked him years ago when he spoke about smoking weed this song is one of the best songs ever 👍
A legend in the UK, but strangely virtually unknown outside of it.
Probably one of the best songs ever written!
💯
It is my favorite song. It resonates deeply with me, the lyrics are profound, and it is executed perfectly.
And one of the best performances ever! 👌
Without a shadow of a doubt relevant in any era lyrically but his voice is simply amazing
You're probably right there. Lyrically it's brilliant, musically it's amazing and performed live it's breathtaking.
Thanks
He is a brilliant singer songwriter, his career spans over 15 years, he was signed to Atlantic Records when he was just 18 by the legendary Ahmet Ertengun who saw his potential and had very high hopes for him. He's released 4 amazing albums since then, has won many accolades, including an Ivor Novello, has great reviews, yet he's still virtually unknown to the masses outside the UK. He's an underground legend.
have you got any infos about why he was on hiatus the last 6-7 years? making no music... i really missed him a lot so so much, one of the most talented British singer-songwriter till date
@@mirka1982 As far as we know, it's simply because he doesn't consider fame or exposure as an incentive to create. He considers his privacy and relative "anonymity" a crucially important element of his life. He disappears, reappears, and then disappears again.
He stays underground because it's what allows him to maintain his identity.
So we, the adoring tribe, wait and appreciate it when he decides to re-emerge again.
@@mirka1982 massive alcohol problem,, saw him twice where he was so drunk he couldnt perform, I believe he had to cancel part of a tour due to it becoming a problem, I'm guessing he took time out for this?
@@candymcnibblepants This is not true. He was getting new material together and then covid happened.
@@mirka1982 just saw his concert a few weeks ago in Ally Pally London. The new album is amazing!!
This song is a work of genius. His voice moves me. He deserves so much more recognition
Greetings from Bonnie Scotland - Paolo is a National Treasure here.
Go see him live….. I have been blown away twice ‘14 and ‘23…. no half effort performances, see him live!! Unbelievable!!
Saw him live in Sydney last night - what an insane talent. He is one of the most under rated artists on the planet - FACT
Paolo stays less than half mile from me ..he goes to my local shop and plays football with the kids, guys really humble ..crazy to see he’s made it all the way across the pond to your channel :)
Wow that’s amazing. He sounds like a legit person.
@@rosalieelliottofficial yeah, iv never actually spoke to him but apparently he’s a really grounded guy, your face when you first heard that rasp tho ☺️
Paolo Nutini it's a brilliant and talented singer.
Iron Sky It's a masterpiece
I’m so glad u felt the emotion in this song. This song embodies the spirit and power of Scotland. Freedom 🏴
🙄
@@telstar4772what? Lmao
Listen to the words, he’s screaming FREEDOM 🏴 it’s about Scots Independence
Paolo is of the most underrated artists of all time. Its a travesty!
How is he underrated? I have never met anyone who doesn't rate him highly
He is very high rated!
Love him, he lives near me. Amazing singer 💙
Oh that’s awesome!! He seems like a cool dude
I'm from down the road in Ayrshire 👋🏻🏴
One of the most gifted singer/songwriters of his generation. This is one of my favourite songs of his and that performance was unwordly. You could almost hear a hint of reggae in his voice too. Amazing!
He has done an album which has a reggae fell sound called sunny side up
Yes, I heard a lil' Bob Marley in his notes!
This is exactly why I love watching reactions to Paulo every now and then. The awe. The confusion. The Love 💜 -x-
The confusion why he isn’t known
Well said girl
I saw Paolo Nutini at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival (oddly enough) on his first U.S. tour. He was pretty much unknown but totally mesmerized the crowd and his performance was one of the highlights of the festival that year.
Loved Paolo for years, went to see him last week, absolutely amazing. Today I received the new double album on vinyl. He prefers small gigs to stadiums and that says a lot for this man, a legend here in scotland
❤
I watch a lot of reaction videos and I've been knowing a song for over 10 years I love this song the way you explain it the way you go through the lyrics in the ear emotion about it is really true and it's really good to see a reaction video with an explanation to it not just people making faces and loving it even though that's a good thing I do like the way you present it and I do like your thought process through it very good
a true masterpiece........................
broadening horizons is what life is all about
That was a unique moment that only comes once in a lifetime.
This recording has everything , really everything you can express from the bottom of your soul .
Unforgettable
Paolo has been around a while and he was ascending in his career then he took time out for a while many of us in Scotland thought he would never return and this great talent would be lost as he was dealing with his own personal issues and demons and addictions but I think the overwhelming public applaud from fans and the music world to beg for his return filtered back to him and must of done something as he started to recover and overcome and get back to writing and performing and HE’S BACK!!! The world has missed you Paolo!! Your voice words and music is something that should be enjoyed and cherished
I saw him sing in a tiny club in London a few months back and he sounds exactly the same, his voice is honestly emotionally overwhelming at times. Closest i've been to a religious experience.
Met him back stage at Glastonbury a few years back, such a genuine bloke and an amazing talent.
Thank you so much for fulfilling this request Rosalie.
As soon as I saw the 21 minute timeline I thought "YES, SHE'S GOT IT". He delivers passion and love with every word he sings. A humanitarian and one of life's genuine good guys. A true undiscovered diamond.
To hear him pour that same passion into a bluesy love song, please try "No Other Way, live at the Neon Loft". Thanks again, Steven
My pleasure. Truly thank you. This brought me lots of joy.
He sounds so passionate when he sings this because he wrote it about Scottish independence from the UK which he has said he supports. While I don’t agree with his politics I have always loved his songs and how each album has a different vibe and influences. He goes travelling between each album for inspiration and it comes through in the music
Fun fact, Adele was also watching this from the side and she said it was the best live performance she ever saw.
His parents own the best chip shop in paisley . I remember when he was born I use to deliver butcher meat to the chippy . He comes from a lovely family but I agree looking at him you wouldn’t think wow I bet he can sing this good 🤣 but he can ❤
First reaction that actually heard the song!!! I foooooking love you xxxx
Haha, girl…you are in for a ride! His voice is THAT good. Saw him like 15 years ago in a super small show in Dublin. Oh man, best ever!
My god, this man is incredible !!
This song hits so deeply particularly now. His voice and charisma are next level. The Charlie Chaplin piece is around 80 years old and resonates as much or more now. Just a gorgeous piece. Grab that Kleenex girl! Some fun songs of his are "New Shoes" and "Scream" so check them out. Love ya!
Just freaking amazing. Very original.
Love this. Everyone was on point during this performance. This song would be considered one of the great soul classics had it come out in the 60s or 70s. ❤
Paolo is so versatile in styles and sooo not getting his credit.... To be honest to me he is one of the best artists of our generation.
Thanks for the reaction 💥😃.
Danke
Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Such an awesomely talented man.
The king of Scotland 👑👑🏴🏴
I love watching people’s reactions to this song/performance!! 🥰🥰
WOW!!!" This is the most powerful, emotional performance i ever heard for sure!!! With a message too! Awesomeness!! I love it!!!💜👏👏👏
Masha'allah you look gorgeous sound adorable I loved your reaction
wish you all the best ❤️
Paulo is amazing. His first couple of albums are still top notch.. also fun fact, I live in Glasgow and while in a pub the other night my wife ended up drinking with Paulo and got a selfie with him.
I absolutely love this song! Such truth and Power!
Paolo Nutini is fucking brilliant 💚🏴💪
@seanmcgowan7863 .....weeesht or youll go on the nawty step for swearing 🤣........but yes he is pure dead brilliant
I have watched many reactions to Paolo but I just loved your reaction. It still gives me goosebumps after hearing Iron Sky many times. He is a brilliant singer / songwriter and such a nice guy on and off the stage,
I have seen him on the street as I originally comes from Paisley too. Scotland and Paisley are very proud of him❤
Good god, this lady understands this song.
Regards from Scotland!
Just came across this video and I'm a massive Paolo fan, going to see him on Friday in Glasgow, Scotland. The man is incredible, such a talented musicians but someone who doesn't chase fame, happy to live a quiet life as such and let his music do all the work
Recent Scottish Music Awards: Nutini scooped the best album and best live act awards following his comeback from a four-year hiatus.
this is most peoples reactions to Paulo, keep it up.
Uhhhhhhhhhh welcome to Paolo!! 2006 first heard him on a EP. Not a sell out, genuine artist , wont sell his soul for nothing, lives in Glasgow/Paisley this is true music. Once heard never forgot.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼✌️🤞🏼👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Well done for appreciating Paolo Nutini’s brilliance. He is widely considered one of UK’s most proud possessions. He releases music so infrequently that he is just a gem. His album “sunny side up” spent something crazy like 5 years in the top 40 charts ….. and is my personal favourite album of all time. A masterpiece. Nothing like anything else ever released
Even writing this message my eyes are watering
Peace and love from the UK.
He's Scottish
Feck your uk
@@nerjadude since when was Scotland not part of the uk
@@dpbugg01
Very soon Scotland will do what republic of Ireland did and leave the uk
Majority of Scots now want to leave and be in the European Union 🇪🇺🏴☝️
So, in advance of this were Scottish and European
UK is a shit.hole full of losers and haters
Thank you for checking this out. 🙏 Paolo is a phenomenal treasure that so many have still to discover. His music touches my soul. Proud to be Scottish 🏴
One of the best on the www.
He is truly awe inspiring. Rare
paolo nutini is a brill singer i saw him in paisley .. going to see my boy in december .. cant wait ❤❤❤
You must listen to I’d Rather Go Blind ( Etta James cover) and No Other Way (Paolo Nutini) My favourite singer 💕
He's fabulous live! I love his song Candy I can play the hell out of it x
Im from paisley hes honestly the only thing im proud of from there hes amazing.
voice of pure gold
I have been lucky enough to see Paolo a couple of times. He is one of the leading soul singers at the moment in my opinion.
Just unbelievable !
Thanks for covering this and giving an extra thoughtful analysis^^ Paolo Nutini, especially through this song, definitely deserves more attention for his tremendous talent^^ ❤️ & subscribed👏
Paolo is not only talented but is very down to earth , still remembers his Paisley roots . He is a lovely guy 🏴💕
He’s also a lazy f..ker, but then again, he can afford to be so who’s to say his lifestyle work balance is wrong?
@@supertuscans9512 how do you know he lazy ? Lol He is laid back comes to Paisley sings karaoke in pubs with punters .when you don’t see him he is writing music . Yeh I agree maybe that works for him
I think it would be fair to say that Paulo’s lifetime time ambitions is not to finish life being the richest man in the graveyard.
I think his music is fantastic and from a selfish point of view wished he would release more but I also respect ( and to a degree envy), his lifestyle choices.
I think Justin Hawkins summed it up best when he said he was the voice of a generation.
@@supertuscans9512 haha yeh I agree he just wants to make music doesn’t care about money ect .he honestly is so down to earth he doesn’t see himself as a celebrity he still walks about Paisley goes for a pint when there and is treated like everyone else which is way he likes it .
He not still stay in Paisley? Boys always in the bars in the town.
Paolo is amazing. He dropped out for a while in his career, which is our loss of course. However, the music he has given us when the time is right for him, is uplifting.
So moving. Not only his voice, the harmonies, the lyrics, the horns, the bassline...masterpiece. Freedom and peace to you all!
It was my uncle Tim known as Tiger Tim in Scotland (Clyde 1 radio DJ/presenter MBE) that got Paulo Nutini recognized. Paulo's music is awesome!! I love his reggae track, sounds almost like Bob Marley. He gave my uncle Tim the record label for his wall and also his guitar with his autograph on it!! Was super nice of him!! I love that Paulo changes his voice in different styles! The guys a Scottish legend!! Fantastic job on the reaction video Rosalie!!! I'd be down to listening to some tunes and eating good food!! Sounds like the perfect way to spend the day!!!
@Eden for sure, even with his struggle with MS since his 30s he's gone strong, and helped many charities!!
@Eden thank you, he's still going, still got the same witty personality!! 😂😂
Oor Paolo. Last request 🏴👍
Awesome to see these reactions. He's a Scottish legend. It's funny you do see him walking about the streets in Glasgow.
That Charlie Chaplin speech is probably the best speech ever. I get chills every time i watch that scene from that movie.
Adele was also at the Abbey Road Studios that day. While Paolo was singing this ,Adele was behind the camera watching. She sais that it was the best live performance she had ever heard.
He has a fabulous back catalogue, very talented wee beastie...
Favourite of mine is 'Better Man' just for that full on wailing voiced chorus!
His song ‘Candy’ is just superb.
ive asked for this song to be played at my funeral, it never fails to move me
he is probably my favorite of all time
Paolo has been huge in Europe for over 20 years. Welcome to the fan club
And now….he’s on tour in the USA……so get a ticket soon, experience how awesome he is in the flesh….homeboy 🏴 ❤️
He has an amazing catalogue so enjoy x
Paolo is a vein tingler he's got a unique graw that catches your soul and makes it dance. He got you 😉
The best natural voice I've ever heard. No effort whatsoever. Legend.
This guy is something else live! His song “better man” is my wedding song. My wife and I had our first dance to it and he played it for us on his acoustic at his recent gig in Manchester. Listen to his latest album if you like his rasp! Loved your reaction
Paolo is so brilliant. I’ve been a fan since 2006. The first song I heard by him was “New Shoes”. I liked it but wasn’t bowled over. After hearing “ Last Request” live on Jools Holland, I was hooked. His lyrics, his music, his singing, are unparalleled.
'Last request is one of my favorites too
Last Request was the first song I ever heard and I was hooked for life!!!
I got a free mixtape when I was buying cd’s back in like 2006-2007 (feels like a lifetime ago haha cds) and the tape had new shoes on it and I’ve been a fan since, still never met anyone that’s heard of him here in the states.
@@PrettyRickyDanko I haven’t met any Paolo Nutini fans in my part of the U.S. either. I chalk it up to good music is no longer important like it used to be. Real talent has been replaced with auto tune and terrible songs.
@@japhyryder66 or chalk it up to our exquisite taste 😂😂😂
Love love Paolo - completely forgotten about him in the last two years!! Great to hear him again!! ☮❤ Sea Point, Cape Town
His music is absolutely incredible! I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him live 4 times and each time he was outstanding!
I believe that Adele & Paloma Faith both praised his performance stating that it was one of the best live performances they had ever seen.
No other way live..amazing & wonderfull
We are so proud of our wee paisley boy he just gets better with age .He'll never disappear with that talent ❤️🏴
Pink was caught on some early YT footage going backstage in one of his concerts and asking him to join one of her tours....claiming she was his no1 fan. Good taste tbh but him being him, it was never going to happen....and subsequently didn't haaha. Mustve been about 15 years ago. Still there if you dig for it.
Man, Paolo is a very skillfull singer, puts a lot of emotion on his songs. Very very VERY underrated. Big fang from a long time. Congrats Rosalie! (and welcome to nutini's shoes!)
Love Paolo Nutini so much and Iron Sky is one of the best songs ever written! Helped get me through the pandemic. If you have just discovered him you have a treat ahead of you. 😊
Il miglior cantante black voice degli ultimi 50 anni
He was on hiatus for a bit… when his new album came out I remember just crying after the first word was sung.. his voice is one of my favorites ever
loved watching your reaction to this. it's such a brilliant track. thank you. enjoyed this a lot! :D i wish more folk could hear it. no idea why they haven't. wonderful finding people who have (Y)
From a proud Scot, you’ve just gained a new subscriber, if you haven’t seen paolo live then you are missing one of the best shows you will ever hear or see
Paulo sings " No other way " it will blow your mind for different reasons to this , we are proud of our wee Scottish legend that is Paulo 🏴🏴
Paolo is my all time favourite artist. I was fortunate to see him live in Melbourne Australia years ago. An artist he is!
You have to listen to "Scream" by Paolo. Its amazing, his voice is sooooo good!!! Thank you for your reaction! Greetings from Austria! :)
Fabulous artist 👌🏽
A nuanced and knowledgeable, well prepared reaction to music, voice, lyrics, socio-psychological context. How dare you engage so intelligently in a world of 'God Bless the USA'... Cause us to think, with accepting differntiation. Provoke and extend meanings, yet pull things back to the confines of a song. Well done. Brava. To me, this a justified call and respone to Marvin's, 'What's Going On.'
I'd add... Rising over Love and Hate could be simpler. Given the art-ifices of poetry, music, drama, Hate rhymes with Debate. Love with Above. They're also iconic, base, common, oppositional 'pinnacle' emotions that -- in this context -- need transcending to reach a different freedom. Each, in extreme, like "fears" or "dreams", could harm, create imbalances, and stifle overcoming the crippling limits of an Iron Sky... that threatens to becomes our "minds." The overwhelming phrase: "Mass confusion, spoon-fed to the blind, serves down to define, our closed society." (Very Neil Postman). The emphasis leaving 2 unworded bars after his first mention of "freedom" shows such mastery of powerful writing and musicality.
This is consistent with calling out institutions (religion & politics are more sexy than taxation), and opening with "proud individuals" living FOR burning cities. Anything that suffocates and prevents a 'constructive,' freedom-seeking power. Confined to this song, all of these prevent unity due to ideology, obsessions, attachments, excuses, rationales, responses, etc., that can be primitive, debasing, divisive... not bringing together. The song is a passionate call for transcending limitations, orthodoxies, etc., to find something that unites... perhaps humanity. He avoids gender, I think correctly, as this -- still an imbalance -- is absorbed and assumed in the basic plea. Let's realize, stripped of our crutches or weapons, we're people. Still individuals, but ones who need each other. Such an accomplishment.
I've seen him perform live twice, both times in Ireland. Legend of a man. You look at Paolo with a look of love !
Finally someone who gets into the most important part of this song and performance, the lyrics, i always felt like the "rain on me" at the end is him saying hes breaking through the iron sky, and so can you!
love it!!, warriors heart!!!!
Paolo is a true Scottish Treasure. Immensely talented, beautiful and humble man. X
i was there too, never heard of paolo and once i did i couldn't stop listening. iron sky is my favorite!!
