Thank you. What a great one. Some of these I like to use as well, ATR VWAP and sometime EMA. And the one that helps me the most to identify a good setup is the heatmap. Seeing if the stock is taking liquidity or rejecting liquidity, then use VWAP as a guide. If it's trending usually get paid really well. Of course, there is more preparation than that. I am like a professional golfer playing the tour when I am entering a trade, I want to take the water out of the play, bunkers, and where is okay to hits etc. When everything is considered,THEN I would pull my clubs (trade), and take the shot. BUT, the problem with this preparation is I am always doing it one shot, and I don't like to scale in (or add) when I am right, feel like I am chasing.

I trade stocks on the side because I love this business .. but Mikes bad A$$ speech to these traders is EXACTLY how I climbed to the top of my very competitive career field and been able to support my family for almost 20 years.. (very well). - Be the absolute best you can be at everything you do in every moment with everything you encounter, every single day and you will be amongst the elite.
Mike I got lost in the moment listening to you there at the end, and had I been sitting there, I would have out-worked every last person there exactly as you outlined! So fierce! Gave me chills. So awesome!
(Lastly, your words from this video will echo through me tomorrow morning as I perfect my trading process even more in Pre-market) I will have this playing as I plan out my playbook perfect Trade in the am.
Thank you sincerely for all your content as it’s helped me more than words can describe.

I made myself a morning playbook for my trading session around 9:20am to 9:36am EST. I’m successfully profitable during this time. But for some reason I’m not able to make a playbook trades on midday or end of day. I always end up giving up all of my profits and more when I trade midday or end of day. So now I just stop trading when I’m finished with the morning session of trading.

I would add where you are standing psychologically for the trading session. I would create a simple psych scale I can place my mood, prior win/loss pressures, expectations, life outside trading events that might be influencing my decision making. I’m coming off huge losses and I’m relatively new to trading. Those losses have shot me down psychologically, but I know it’s learning and rigorous preparation that will soon give me the confidence to resume my trading journey. Thank you for all you put in videos like these. Your videos are outstanding and as soon as I round up enough cash to pay your fees I will order your training course. Thank you so much.

This information is easily the best trading education out there. Thank you very much for all you guys are doing, really really amazing stuff. Something I might add to my checklist is: Is the stock being promoted or pumped up on social media platforms? This is nothing new, only the technology in which people communicate has changed. Social media attention = liquidity

I don't trade stocks, but if I did I would add the following to my checklist. NYSE Ad / Decliners, both the overall exchange symbol and NYSE only, I would learn to read the TICK a bit and understand it's meaning in the overall market. I would learn which future my stock is most affected by and learn a bit about that symbol, it's habits tendencies and levels it likes to move from. Some exposure to futures will broaden the perspective on what the market reacts to and why certain tweets etc can really move these symbols. There are total volume symbols for futures markets that are quite reliable on days you feel you have no direction, I find them helpful. VWAP, anchored, 24 hour etc in futures is very reliable like SMB finds in stocks, any kind of volume measurement is a good learning experience and this data can be presented in a wide variety of ways. Cumulative measuring tools which Dr Brett 1st mentioned in his Trading Coach book, has evolved into a study of it's own. It appears algos are using this a lot. A good trader may find correlations with stocks that you know well, that can help see and anticipate before most of the market participants have realized a change is underway.
Thanks as always for your excellent work !

What's critical to know every day is the 'macro climate.' For example, is the Fed signalling rates will be low for some time like right now. Or, is the Fed signaling rates may tighten. Also, understand the term structure of volatility. Where are VVIX and VIX at? If those key variables are favorable, then the micros matter a lot. If the macro's are not favorable, then expect higher vol, more potential downside, and also be ready for unexpected gaps. This understanding is key as good earnings and outlooks can be trumped by rising rates and a hi vol environment...

This video was a amazing summary of proper preparation; one of the seven fundemantals of one good trade. I would add "Beta" of the stock and also "how did the stock move in the previous quarters in a similar good or bad earnings news catalyst". In addition to that , do not forget Spencer´s pinned tweet "how to put a trade together" checklist ( Examine how investors/traders are positioned on several time frames
.On the daily chart where is the stock trading in relation to its 52wk high and 52wk low. In the weeks prior to the catalyst where have most people been buying and selling the stock. This allows me to make an informed judgement as to how motivated they will be to add or take off positions. )
And lastly thanks to finviz.com and tradingview you can reach almost all of the information mentioned in the video free or with an affortable price. I love democratisation of information and technology . With all of these and a proper training by SMB , retail traders might have a chance to succeed.

Wondering if you and your team have a bias with ATR and penny stocks? Obviously something that moves 100%+ in a day and has a very small float is not going to be equivalent to an earnings play mid cap stock that could move potentially 2 ATR's. Is this something anyone has looked into or noticed/ on the potential it will move?

Question, do your traders go into their trades already looking at a particular stock agreed upon from a previous days meeting, or are they looking at their scanners to see what’s moving during pre-market. Or is it a combination of both?

  • @danman2070

Good presentation. Once again, very professional!
To add, and this was mentioned in another way, I would consider value areas by using market profile or even volume profile. If other factors point to a move in a particular direction, confluence with either vwap or anchored vwap and these value areas could increase the probability of a move in the predicted direction .

Great list! I'll include historical chart performance study into the list as each stock has its unique characteristics. By the way, may I know where can I get RVOL?

    Possible Template Discussed
It is important to know these things before you enter the trade(s).
    Build a standard template.
    Be consistent.
What new is coming or is out there?
    RVOL - Today vs Yesterday?
VWAP - Above or Below the average?
    ATR - Average True Range?
    Average Volume? 1 Million?
Long Term Charts? Uptrend or downtrend?
    ATF?
    Understanding the Catalyst -
    Tape / Confirmation
What is the short interest? Possible squeeze?
    Stock Float?
    Institutional ownership?
Where is the S&P? Up or down?
    2 Day VWAP? Compare price?
Determine the target and protective stop before.
Gap %, Will it fail? or hold?
Who is in control, the buyers or the sellers at entry time?
What kind of trade? Scalp, Hold?
    Open = Scalp
    Mid Day = Fade/Swings
    Close = Trend
Banks - Are there banks left to comment?
Thanks for sharing, all good ideas again.

Is RVOL relative volume or relative volatility. This video describes it as relative volatility but most uses relate to relative volume.

Yes, it's especially one I was looking for. Another one I haven't find yet is best charts setups with indicators details and reasons for particular setups if relative to particular trading types.

The price action often reflects the sentiment so reading a report isn’t as valuable as understanding how price reacts to the news. I would focus on drawing the S1,S2, R1,R2 and making decisions based on how price acts at these levels.

I agree with Chris Nickles, its not what the actual numbers are, rather its how the market is reacting to those numbers. I always try to know what the numbers are, but i will also look at the market reaction every time.

great but I would need all these data points at my fingerprints for every stock. Seems like a long checklist of things to look at every time you want to enter a new position and for any random stock.

Just curious when Steve is talking about R1, R2, S1, S2. I'm sure he is identifying a pivot for these. Is he manually plotting the levels off a daily, weekly, and 30-min charts, and/or combining this with an actual Pivot study? If so, I was just curious about the period. Thanks! Great information!

Hi Bella, doesn't looking at prior technical level for in-play stock look a bit paradoxical? When stock is hugely in play, that itself means there's so much of new info and revaluation that prior information/levels maybe no longer valid isn't it?for example if ethanol stocks are in downtrend and suddenly news comes out that ethanol % to be increased in fuel, this is such a powerful revaluation that prior levels may not matter much.
