I'm legally blind and am finally trying to figure out my hair. Your description of how to manipulate both the hair and the brush was very helpful. My greys are much more coarse and curlier than my brown hairs and are frustrating me. Thanks for mentioning that you're dealing with greying waves as well.

This is great!. I have been using this technique as my go to this summer. I either use the handle or slide my brush threw to the ends. Then I twist the brush like a wind up toy. My hair twists and I get the most intense spirals when doing it this way. Likely because my curl is generally a bit tighter then my brushes handle. but I use and love both. Great video idea.

I just did this within 22 minutes of you posting. My hair looks great! I did use a gel/cream mixture as well as volumizing mousse. Sectioned it and curled it upwards so I could have my volume. Barely did I even see shedding which is something I struggle with 🥴 Thanks!

How do you curl it upwards? I too use mousse in my routine. I know you aren't supposed to touch until it is dry, but i let it get 70% or if it goes over, i might SOTC some, dampen and add mousse (AG Mousse Ge)l. That extra wetting then drying is probably frowned on, but i get about 2-3 EXTRA days of not washing or wetting (so 4-5 days)

I've watched so many of your videos, but for some reason it's just now clicking in my brain that you and I have Very Similar hair, haha. I have an irregular curl pattern, I'm pretty sure it's low density, barely medium thickness, course sections, etc. With that in mind I will be trying your technique on brush coiling. I've used another similar method, but how you specifically style around the crown of your head will be very useful for me. Thank you for this!

This vlog entry was very helpful, Gena Marie! I have the Scrunch-It Brush, which was made specifically to make these coils. It is a round barrel brush with only a small section of bristles along the length of the brush. Then the handle tapers to more easily slide the coiled section off. Your method of unwinding the hair will probably work better for me than turning the brush and pulling my hair off of the handle, which does sometimes feel like I am going to tear it off my head! Your tip on how to decide which direction to curl was also useful to me. I have low density hair in the front and sides, with lots of hair in the back, where it is harder to reach. Mine is also way too long, I think. Your many tips for avoiding frizz were also so helpful. I cannot tolerate the feel of too much product in my hair, so I have to find a balance between the application of gel and the frizz level that meets my needs. I really enjoy the instructions you give and the showing of techniques. Keep up the great information, lots of us find things in every one of your vlogs that help us!

    • @imajenn3006
      @imajenn3006 Рік тому +1

I have really fine low density hair AND use a scrunchit! I am Definenly going to unwind like she did! I find that i need a really hard hold gel that has a lot of slip. MopTop curls/coils is really slippy, especially if you spray water in your hands.... I think it is $13? The curl custard is too soft, but there is slip and it is weightless. Hi Definition is good too. & My FSG. .. Jessicurl, CS In Shower Dryler, Deva Curl styler all have no slip...
Do you have a slippy hard hild you like?
      Anyway
I brush that gel through, but i add some mousse (AG Mousse Gel which is hard hold) when my hair is almost dry (70%?)
I Don't get a product-y feel (once the Mousse is COMPLETELY dry). I also stopped following the advice to not use hold near the root.
I can go 5 days now without a wash, maybe more, with wetting once doing this and using a protection method i made up.
IDK why i am writing so much 🫣 but i always recommend Virtue curl line (iDK the gel). It is $$ but it Really Will give you 23% thicker hair Day 1, and the conditioner and curl whip (curl cream) do NOT weigh my hair down At All. It lasted a year on my low D shoulder-length hair... so figuring that it isn't too bad. I SWEAR by it. Even if you just get the Conditioner, or conditioner & shampoo.

The tail is great for sectioning, but it is ade so you can coul your hair around the tail after brushing through it the other is 'small clumps" and it looks like the first but has a row of comb teeth on the back. You yse this vertically. It start you hair curling and then separates it into smaller ribbons. They are like a round brush with bristles in one side (i think they are boar & remind me of a 1" section of the Behairful bristles. I also like the Scrunch it brush. I have fine thin hair and I use the small clump brush but I want to try the big clump one. I find I don't do a good job of partitioning my hair. I constantly get the freshly curled hair caught in the next batch I am about to curl. It's frustrating so I am also finding ways to just use the scrunch it hair bonnet and then diffuse.

I have very coarse thick frizzy hair with a curl pattern that is all over the place. My roots grow in very bumpy and kinky so I usually get a softening treatment on the roots every few months. I also have lots of breakage and split ends. Because of the treatments some of my hair is straighter. But it's the texture, thickness and rough feel of my hair that makes it a challenge to style. I only go to a curly hair salon. I use an anti humidity gel and section my hair when styling. But it's always so frizzy anyway and I've been using a curling iron to get more uniform/softer looking curls. I'm wondering if this technique will work for me.

It works well if you do the front pieces and section like she did. You might find the scrunchit brush used horizontal in your back under half works. Denman wasn't made to use it like everyone does. You are just supposed to 'brush your hair & turn the ends under to encourage curl formation" from their site.

I need the dryer roots & i need the rest of ny Baby Fine low-D hair to stay wet so i have to spray jf throughout.
How do you know when you are using enough (or too much product? Or the wrong one?
How do you get product to stay on low porosity when you micro plop? With me it is just Gonzo.
(my hair is low porosity, except it is so fine it wets and dries fast, but I find it is really hard to get gel to stick -if i micoplop its gone & I need hard hold slippy gels that has little oils... but Super Hold... And still looking.

I wrap my hair in my Hair Repear towel after I wash my hair. That absorbs a lot at the roots. I then spritz the lengths with water to style.
Finding the right amount of product takes trial and error. I go by the feeling of my hair and if it feels evenly coated. Combing it through helps.
I recommend glazing another light layer of gel over your hair after microplopping
