very nice video and some great shots- ,,,,enjoyed it. thanks to Andrea and all the commenters. really appreciate the info you have shared, and the music, and unassuming attitude. Sailing is for anyone who has the desire and willingness to learn. the Albin Vega seems to be highly regarded by most. FAIR WINDS, MISTRAL ...
Me to...best small cruiser ever....I was based in West Kirby...did the Hebrides...went south and ended up in Minorca in the Med......a boat that looked after you!
Well done video. Those old castles are amazing We have nothing like that here. I spend my free time sailing along the coast of beautiful BC. Cheers from the west coast of Canada!
Those little Albins have sailed around the world. Stiff on the wind and built like a brick house, they get you where you want to go. It is the Only boat under 32' feet that I'd consider a blue water sailer. Nice video. Find one in a yard somewhere, fix it up, and you are better off than most who poured out the big bucks.
Thanks! Nice that I inspired you to go for a Vega. They are excellent boats and cheap to buy. Good as a first boat, but also proven blue water boat. There are many around and the community is quite active. On the downside they are a bit small compared to modern standards and a bit temperamental in reverse with the standard configuration (see my other video). I can get along with this compromise. Good luck!
:-) Heard about the temperamental reverse but decided to take it as a challenge. After all I don't buy a boat to go backward. Hope next year to pot a video on Doing the Isefjord, Denmark
Possibly. With tailwinds should be fine, but need to be really careful because wind often change direction sharply in narrow passages and also the waves make the boat change direction all the time, so there is a risk of involuntarly gybe. The consequenses in that case can be quite dangerous. If I was motoring though I would keep the sails ready to be hoisted in case the engine fails for any reason.
Hi, I work on the show Saving Lives at Sea. We're interested in using some clips from your video, specifically the shots from the boat looking out to sea. Would you be happy for us to use? Thanks!
I'm 5'10'' and the headroom is about 5'10''. I was able to stand up without touching the roof with my head just under the companionway. Also consider the seats are relatively low and the forward cabin and toilet have much less headroom. Depends also what you are intending to do. If it's just for sailing weekends I think it could be OK. If it's for longer period, maybe you have to try first and see if you feel OK with it.
Excellent video, I hope to sail my Vega around the British Isles in the future! Seems you have a chain locker on your Vega. Would be nice to get a video or some photos of how it is made. Did you make it or was it on the boat when you bought her? Fair winds...
Excellent video and music. It is a shame that there will be no more videos from the Clyde :( I am planning a trip next year from Holy Loch to the Isle of Man to watch the TT Races. How long did it take you to cross from Portpatrick to the Isle of Man? Also, looking back at your passage from Largs to Isle of Man, is there anything you would have done different? Cheers Paul
Thanks for the comment! I have to say the Clyde area is perfect for sailing so iI agree t's a bit a shame... From Port Patrick to Peel it took me about 8/9 hours (I should check the log). It was mostly motorsailing as that day was barely windy. On our trip we were not very impressed with Girvan. The entrance is shallow and it might be difficult if there are waves. It's convenient though to split the journey from Lamlash. I was also considering passing through Northern Ireland (Campbeltown - Rathlin Island - Glenarm - Bangor - IoM) but I didn't have a lot of time and I could have been stuck in Northern Ireland for the weather. Hope this helps!
No, this wasn't my first sail. I've got RYA day skipper and I've been teaching sailing in France, but this was the first time in the Irish Sea and with just the help of a friend who had never sail before. It was stressful and this is why I did some mistakes during the trip.
Hi, I work on the show Saving Lives at Sea. We're interested in using some of you drone footage in our upcoming series, would you be happy for us to use? Thanks!
Great trip, man! I always wanted to sail in those waters. It looks like they have treated you well though :) Two questions: do you fix boats and sail by profession? And who did the music?
I don't fix boats or sail by profession, it's just an hobby for now... but who knows I might go for an extended trip in the future. I did the music, just simple guitar recordings.
Yes got my self Albin vega 27 n 2905
I enjoy...waiting for the next adventure
Really enjoyed this! As a kid I sailed these ports. Thanks for the video

really enjoyed your video. there are so many stunning sites. we are loving Scotland this year too .Emma & Matt x
Beautiful episode and music 🎶 forever. Greetings from beautiful Hawaii islands ⛵️
Enjoyed the vid. I saw the wee boat in Girvan harbour. Odd I spotted the video now lol. Happy sailing
Thanks for a great vid! As a fellow Vega sailor from Finland, I can only hope that I will some day end up in your beautiful waters!
Congratulations!!
I had a Vega once. Nice you see yours sailing. :-)

British Columbia must be beautiful... I'd like to sail that area one day...

Well done to you both on the adventure, and well done Andrea on your latest video.
Thanks for your advices... Mistral behaved really well, you can be proud of her ;)
Enjoyed that Andrea, nice video, nice boat
Love it!
Thanks!!
Port Patrick looks nice.
One of the best harbour!
Beautifull video. And you surely convinced me that buying a Vega is a brilliant idea! I'll do it!!! With or without the guitar

Well done Andrea. I hope to see you and Mistral in the bay one day.
Hope so! Is your boat moored in Holyhead?
No, at Cemaes. I can see the bay from my house and always take a look at what's at anchor in the bay.
Cumbrae is a lovely island. I've sailed in that channel a lot
nicely done.
Good to have small waves with short boat.
09:00 enjoyed your video - thank you. Would you do this under sail now you've got some more miles under your belt?
Possibly. With tailwinds should be fine, but need to be really careful because wind often change direction sharply in narrow passages and also the waves make the boat change direction all the time, so there is a risk of involuntarly gybe. Yes the Holy Isle Ferry is the smallest in Scotland BUT probably the most expensive ;-)
Sweet video
Where are you at now ?
I'm sailing in Scotland for the summer
Hey thanks, unfortunately I'm not sailing at the moment, I might put on a video about what happened to my boat.

Please go ahead, is it possible to credit the footage?
Hi! I love the Vega. How tall are you? I'm 6' 3" and so it could be a bit less headroom for me....

It was there, every Vega has it.

Thanks for your feedback. I will have a look at Peel. Also, Northern Ireland sounds an interesting idea to go back that way. Thanks
Thanks for video. Was this your first sail and if so, how much and what training did you do?

Hi, that should be fine. Which drone footage specifically? Can we discuss in private?
