  • this video is to demonstrate how you can change the driver side headlight in your nissan maxima 2004 to 2008 model. In this video the vehicle shown is a maxima 2008 Se model. The general procedure requires you to take off the wheel , then front bumper , wheel well and unscrew all the screws of the whole headlight assembly just to replace the bulb which can be costly and time consuming . But in this video you can see I have done it without doing any of those steps. i simply removed the air filter and air filter housing , and the plastic cover above the radiator then pretty have good access to the headlight bulb socket .
    tools required: 10 mm wrench.
    and A flat head screw driver.

    This is a good video no doubt, but I have an 2007 Maxima SL with EVERY single feature a 6th gen , could have, the best method to change the hid bulbs is honestly taking the time and dropping the bumper to get at it, you can probably get it done by jacking up and removing the wheel, but its an EXTREMELY tight and hard fit if your Max is equipped with hids, I honestly wanted to punch everyone in the face while doing this job by jacking the car up and going through the wheel well. Earlier to tonight, the drivers side decided to unplug from the hid bulb as I was driving, so i guess i didnt have it in completly, so i managed to plug it back in and i stuffed a bunch of old rags between the hid bulb and the frame of the car and it stable now, I’ll drop the bumper and get the dust cover on right at a later date. Smfh, what a pain in the as@ of a job, i can change rear shocks quicker than i could change hid headlight bulbs on this car smh… If you have a Max with hids, JUST DROP THE BUMPER, to save you from a world of coursing and headaches!!

    It’s much easier to just remove the bumper cover then to take all of these things off.

      Could be . But I find it much easier to remove air filter housing . Beside if you remove bumper cover then you also have to remove headlight housing which is another extra step . But if you found a shortcut then good for you .

      @Frank Perez , he literally starts the video on how to take it out without removing the bumper..... and what do you do? You decide to comment against his decision. Just respect how the man did it in his own video.
      A+ B = B+ A, Still showed how to get the lights out

      This works only for the driver's side bulb, on the passenger's side the bumper cover has to be removed.

      Thanks. I’ll either use this method for the same side and bumper for the other, or I’ll just go bumper, good vid man.

    What about the passenger side ? I have 04 model and I'm trying to replace both sides

      You need to take off wheel wall and then should be able to reach the bulb housing.

      @@SakibChoudhury okay ..I'll try that I just bought the car as my daily .. white 2004 with 153k it's very impressive with acceleration I just cleaned the headlight housings now I'm trying to install brighter bulbs good car ..very quick too

      @@dennismichealsm3786 best of luck. Yes the vq35 engine is very impressive in term of instant acceleration. Make sure once you put the bulb and twist the white housing back it is properly sealed so that dust and water can't enter.

    i did the same but it was really hard for me to remove that white piece on the drivers side but eventaully got it
    now my passenger side died.
    did you try the wheel well side for the passenger or did you get that from the other video on youtube.
    i have 07 and you have 08 which havethe same bulbs but different bulbs than the models years before.

    • @SakibChoudhury
      @SakibChoudhury  Рік тому

      You got that right. For passenger side, if you remove the wheel well, you can easily access the white piece that basically house the bulb. You may have a higher trim and might be a projection headlamp . In this case you might have different bulb socket. I hope you get it done.
      Ps : generally when a headlight goes bad, it is almost guaranteed the other one would fail soon. So it's always a good idea to replace them in pairs:)

      I just did passenger pretty sure the ballast died on the passenger side. I did this through the wheel i plugged everything in and nothing on the passenger side turned on. I tried multiple bulbs. Eitherbway for hid turns out theres not enough space to put the bulb and that white cover over its impossible for me unless i bend the metal on the left or break some of the plastic of the headlight. I saw a comment saying hid is different on another vid either way i gotta take off the bumper now. It still worked hust couldnt clear it with everything plugged in prob an hid thing. Light failed after jumpstaring car so and coolant leaking there so rip.

      I see. I'm sorry to hear the trouble regarding the light replacement. Yes hid unit might be different than the halogen unit came with my car. But I definitely changed it with only a portion of wheel well removed and was easier than the driver side. I would advise you to locate nissan guideline for replacement procedures for hid bulb. Also get a multimeter and have the voltage checked on the prong before putting new bulb. Make sure there is no short and the fuse for the headlamp is the recommended rating. If it is 10 amp then ensure that a 10amp fuse is attached. If there is any short or other electrical issue , generally the fused would blow which is most cases confirms a short in the wiring . For coolant leak, I would advise to get it fixed asap ,I had similar issue but it was the transmission oil which was leaking for the lower rad and I ended up using a separate cooler ( hyden) for the trans

      @@SakibChoudhury for hid the drivers side i did from Above removing the airbox
      Unfortunately couldnt close the left side with a bulb even in bc of the dumb hid thing. Yes thats a good idea to check the voltage. Would the fuse for the headlights cause both to stop working because only one isnt working. This is after jumpstarting like 3 times because of a dying battery near 3 years old. Yah the coolant leak is the upper radiator hose i have those u clamps but need to buy a screw clamp added on to put enough pressure. When did you change your tranny fluid? I changed it at 73k miles now im at 95ishk

    • @SakibChoudhury
      @SakibChoudhury  Рік тому

      I need to check if there is a pair of fuse for both headlamp or just one. I did the trans fluid change twice , once when it is 100k and then at 150k. Now it is 162k and counting. Runs ok though
