It's been a while since I've uploaded a yin yoga class and for that I apologize! I had some camera issues and wasn't able to film at home which is really the only place I like to do yin yoga. There's something about practicing in my own space with my cat Cleo that makes the experience feel a lot more intimate. I really want my Yin Yoga classes to be something we do together instead of me teaching something to you, it's a nice way for me to connect with you guys :)
In this hour long class we will open up a bit of everything but you can expect some neck stretches, shoulder openers, hip openers and some hamstring love too! Two of the poses are poses I've never taught on youtube before so I hope you will enjoy them.
What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is often called the Yoga of the joints because unlike other styles of yoga, the emphasis is not on the muscles but on the deep connective tissue. Connective tissue is made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form your joints. Yin yoga improves the range of motion in your joints and also strengthens them. The results and benefits are more flexibility and greater range of motion and also more stability within your joints.
There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.

This is my favorite Kassandra workout. I play this so often than my cat immediately knows when it's playtime with Cleo just by the first few minutes of the video. Please honor us with another video that targets neck and shoulders, Kassandra. This is such a challenge area for those of us who work at desks and carry our tension in those areas. This is one of my favorite classes of yours, I just keep coming back to it! I'd love to see another one similar, focusing more on chest/shoulders and hips. There don't seem to be many yin classes covering these two areas in one practice, but so often it's exactly what my body is asking for. Also, I LOVE your shirt. Namaste!

Wow the shoulder stretch on your stomach is incredible. I’ve never done that one and my shoulders are always so tight right where it stretches. Definitely will use that pose in the future. Thank you!
Hi yogis! I didn't feel like buying a bolster, so I made one out of yoga mat rolled around a foam roller, in a pillowcase with the ends of the pillowcase secured by elastics. If you don't have these items, roll up a blanket and put it in a pillowcase with elastics at either end to secure it. I have been using my "bolster" for at least a month now and it works like a charm. This gave me 1 less excuse as to why I can't manage to do yoga at home!

I have been battling headaches due to the suboccipital muscles. The doctors have prescribed me muscle relaxers, but they don't always work. This routine has greatly helped me with this latest headache! I need to find a routine that provides greater focus on this; however, this is a good starting point! Thank you so much!

Hi Kassandra, i am super picky with yoga AND videos. I dont like all the poses that lean on the wrists too much and have struggled to find a practice that suits me and my body. Also, lot's of teachers talk at moments where silence is requiered. You have absoluteley nailed the art of a great balance between silence and explaining about the pose. Thanks to your way of teaching and the great poses you show us, i have finally gotten into yoga and now do it on a daily basis! I feel an incredible difference in my body and in my mind. Loved this session as I love all of your Yin (and other) videos. Bow tie!! I didn't think I'd be able to get out of the pose but I did. What an intensely deep shoulder / lat muscle stretch.

I spend the last two weeks travelling around by train because of some seminars I was attending, the long train trips plus the long days sitting at those seminars got me so stiff, I woke up today feeling wracked and my neck was a mess and my hips were so painful, I am doing so much better now, I guess I'll do this video tomorrow again!
