This exactly! I used to instruct yoga, and never understood why more instructors didn't use this variation when seeing students struggle. It's all about where you're feeling it.
Exactly in king pigeon or mermaid, it's such a dangerous mobility task on the knee.
Most yoga instructors in general are not that great imo: introducing advanced concepts in free classes, encouraging aerobics over form, centering the ego. I agree that it would be amazing if they started to care about the abilities of the general population attending.
You are such a concise and articulate teacher!
Couldn’t have said it any better
My thoughts exactly!
Thank you thank you thank you.....I'm 55 years old Svandinavian/NativeAmerican man from the rez....I'm like the only sober injun who enjoys strength training and exercising. Guess my point was that on the rez , we need more of this HERE. But then I can't imagine leading a horse to water to drink and forcing him to WANT to drink it. Thanks from Meskwaki tribe, lol, in Iowa, usa
Way to further stereotypes about your people to make yourself look good to strangers, clown.
I love that variation of Pigeon/ Deer Pose and do it multiple times a week. I haven't tried folding more towards my foot, so I'll be definitely trying that!
Woke up this morning in agony from periformis. This variation relieved the pain. Ty
What triggered it?
@@Eric3Frog I wish I could pin point
Oh, thank you!!!!! This pigeon pose used to be so so easy for me but after almost 4 years being completely sedentary, it is now a nightmare. My leg cannot do the 90º angle, my knees scream for mercy and so on.
Problem is, I spend a lot of hours sitting and I do need to regain my hip mobility (asap), since it is hindering many other stuff.
This is life saving. Thank you so so much!!
I literally just did yoga a few hours ago and I was having issues with my right knee for this exact reason. Thank you SO much 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I don't struggle to keep my Pigeon Pose but this variation might help me stretch better! I'll try it, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for explaining this! I always had a hard time getting my leg at that 90 degree angle when my other leg is stretched straight behind me. I’m going to definitely try this way from now on 🎉
I hope you understand and appreciate what a life saver you are ❤
Omg I could cry, I've been limiting myself to very light yoga for the past 2 weeks because after just 1 month of daily yoga my knees were in so much pain. I never knew this modification existed and I just tried it and finally - FINALLY - I can get a really juicy stretch in my hips without aggravating my shit knees. Thank you so much!
This video just made it clear that my problem is actually internal rotation.
Sign me up please
I just did it. It feels great I just got finished playing some footy ⚽. Thank you
I have recovered from injury and tight hips just by watching your vids and expert tips! Thank you!
I discovered this stretch after a shattered patella injury. My hip began to get very tight, and my PT recommended this stretch bc I couldn't do pigeon pose. I like it much better than pigeon!
Thank you. I had ACL surgery and pigeon pose has always messed with my knee. I tried this and finally feel a good stretch when bending over my foot that way, without my knee screaming!
Oh my Soul! You're brilliant!! Thank you so so much!
Why is your voice and accent so friggin pleasant!!
find link in description, but this is a reel and there's no description 😐
As someone with hip dysplasia, this is a gamechanger. thank you!!
Awesome!! If you’re in your 50’s like me… I started at 50 and 2 years later I literally have new hips!
Gosh dang- thank you! I've always had that discomfort in my knee trying to do pigeon pose and other similar stretches- but you're the first person I've ever heard mention that!
Thank you. Most peeps checkin these vids out probably are doing so because they are NOT already flexible so thank you. Thank you.
I've been doing that intuitively for a year.
*Having lived in London for 3 years, her voice makes me want to head over to a pub*
Just what I needed I could lift up my right foot to the groin to do up my shoe lace but not my left. I tried to stretch the left hip to get external rotation but was limited by knee pain.
Omg! Love u for this this tip! I’ve been trying for years to do a perfect pigeon with no results.
Please do a video on the best way to get a full side splits.
Thank you so much!! I really was realizing this in the last days, but didn't have gathered like this
Thank youuuuu
Thank you
I feel the stretch immediately!! This is the stretch I’ve been searching for!!
Great tip. If I'm having a particularly tight hip day I often like to do some pigeon with my front leg on the bed and my rear leg on the ground. The softness of the bed and not challenging the rear front hip can really does a great job for me of getting into the outer hip on the front side 👍🏻
Such great advice our hips say thanks lol
Plenty of your advice is now part of my daily routine. Thankyou
That accent and friendly voice exclaims that you're a beautiful soul.
Agree
Thank you! It is amazing how long I have been stretching and could not figure out why, is was still not seeing any less strain. Already feel a huge difference! ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
What a lovely young lady, dunno why this showed up on my feed but ended up watching the complete video 😅
This tip is absolutely amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Holy crap !!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!! I like to think I know a lot of poses for releases, my back has been killing me and the stretch is intense. Thank you.
Is there anyway we can get the free 14 days trial without putting credit card information ? I’m trying to see if the program is a good fit for me without being charged.
Love that! Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
I did this one and felt stuff stretch and pop I didn't know I had. Back feels much better.
I think I need a one too one session. Just to be sure!
Wow thank you so much liv! I have recently been thinking about this exact thought 🙏
My trainer has recently introduced me to this and holy moly it's amazing. It's also rare case of stretching excercise that is 100% pleasure and 0% pain, at least for me.
YES, The 90-90 stretch 🎉.
I literally just found this variation this week. Thanks for the reminder that I need to put in the work. 😂
This is amazing! Thank you 🙏🏾
This is me! Thanks so much for this powerful tip! ❤
Thank you for BEing You - Honor LoVe Respect 🙏🙌🙏
Thank you. This was really helpful. I have been attempting pigeon with the exact problem. Now I can possibly get there someday.
Thank you!!! I'm totally following you now!
Spicy stretch, indeed! Comes with spicy language!! Lovely video, professionally composed and edited.
This mod helped me so much. Pigeon usually wrecks me more than it helps because it demands so much prerequisite flexibility/mobility.
Wow...thank you for this. I tried this a few moments ago and felt the difference in where I feel the stretch.
Just the variation to pigeon that I needed - thanks!
I love this move, i do it for every warm up
Remember when they made us sit cross legged on the floor at primary school? I couldn't do it because my right hip has ALWAYS been tight. I'm 61 now and STILL have to hold up my right knee when I sit on the floor. Gonna give this stretch a try.
What is the name of your UA-cam channel? Where do I get the two week mobility challenge?
Looking for it as well!
Hi liv I can’t find the link!
THANKS LIV. your videos are just fantastic and what i need.
Thank you lady💯🙌🏽
Thank you for sharing. I look forward to trying this out.
Thanks froma Brazil❤😊
I do believe that if you increase your angle by doing this on a bed or a bench it can also help but I like this advice!
“For an extra spicy stretch” 🙌🏻😂 love it
This helped me so much thankyou
I love that! I'm trying that tonight.
Really helpful, thank you so much for the video. Great instructor
I love your teaching , so relaxing voice
I've always wondered why I can't seem to do the pigeon pose when instructors seem to love it. Now I know I'm not the only one, and I'll certainly try this variation next time!!
Love this on it..thank you..
This is EXACTLY what I need rn! 🙌
Awesome video Bonita ty for sharing ❤❤❤❤❤
Fantastic! Such good advice ❤
I love the pigeon pose, my knees don't! This is helpful, I'll definitely try it
Omg thank you!!!
I would love to see a video about improving hip internal rotation. Thats my struggle point and i cant seem to figure it out
Love your content, its brilliant xx
Wish we could save shorts to playlists
After watching the short, go to your Watch History, long press the video, and from there you can save it. 😊 I hope that helps.
Yeah, really, me too!
I absolutely love you and your content
I was struggling with pigeon for a while, it was forcing my knee so I ovoited it, the I occasionally try why you suggest and felt were I wanted, thank you for putting it together
Just some extra info: stretching doesn't increase mobility necessarily, it increases flexibility. Stretching works temporarily. To gain mobility you need to move to and from a position of both flexion and stretch.
Thank you 💗. I struggle with external rotation on one side and most videos in my feed address the internal rotation.
The first thing I thought of when I saw Pigeon pose was the knees. Thanks fir the tip.
She said link in description, but where is the deacription for shorts?
Where did you get your background in anatomy? The way you explain asana is awesome
I cannot find the link to the more mobility challenge…can someone post it here?
Great tip, thank you!
amazing thank you!
I actually already doing this prior to stretching into the pigeon pose & it hugely eases up my body fully go deep into the pigeon pose as well as allows me to hold my knee & my leg in a better angle each time a bit more! Excellent suggestion because it for sure works! 🙂👌🏻☝🏻💯
I’ve never followed someone so fast
Thank you 😊
Where’s the link?
Not the extra spicy stretch🤣🤣🤣. Thanks I’m gonna try this bc I have tight muscles
Legend.
I love the tattoos.
Really perfect
Good tutorial, thx.
pidgeon always hurts my one knee but this variation allows for stretch without pain - thanks!
