One of the main reasons I truly enjoy your videos (other than the beautiful scenery and the never ending travel variations) is your snarky, witty, and delightfully funny banter in the English subtitles.
It is often helpful while travelling to carry a small multitool (to help with misplaced screws), at least one binder clip (for the curtain), and for hotel use, at least one doorstop wedge.
Plastic door step wedge is cheap and light so yes good idea, multi tool only if ultra small light with bottle opener/can opener/knife feature for food use
Clothes pin or chip clip are always in my hand carry luggage for those stubborn hotel room curtains (or partially eaten bag of snack food I don’t want to leak into my ruck).
I love your videos! Made me laugh all the way; you have a great sense of humor about traveling during the cursed C19 period-era. Looking forward to seeing more in the future. Greetings from Florida: USA.
I rode a Greyhound bus from Toronto to Vancouver once as a young man, took four days and five nights. It was...less well appointed than this nice looking ride is.
I once took a greyhound as well but from Pennsylvania to New York back when I was 12. It was only about 4 hours, but it was much less pleasant than driving with a personal vehicle.
The funny commentary really sets your videos apart...good stuff! This seemed like a good deal for the money, although the compromised curtain function was pretty disappointing. Someone working on the bus didn't think that through very well.
I had taken a similar bus but with Willer Express from Okayama to Tokyo, taking a little over 12 hours. We got off at Shinjuku Station instead of Tokyo Station though. As well since it was overnight, we only had one rest stop in Kanagawa. 😅
Please keep making videos! Even if it is just random walks to spots you find interesting! I love your funny commentary, especially when you do things like T H I S or ALL CAPS. XD
@@danmccarthy4700 Same lol I totally can’t take a sip of water or any other beverage when watching the videos or there’s a high risk of wet phone or computer 😂
I am a single traveller + backpacker originated from Korea; living in Australia . Everyyear, I regularly travel to Taiwan, all around the little island while trying all kinda things. In Nov 2019, I had a last trip there because I wanted to start travelling to Japan- without knowing the COVID 19 will stop me. I thought this monster would prevent me for an year, but I am still trapped in our country. Therefore, your video really relieves my spirit and mind; the way you travel , the way you eat and the way you see; all are what I wanted to do when I travel Japan. I started watching this using my phone but now I love watching from laptop for better feeling and experience- especially when you eat! (haha) From other video, I watched you thanked to people as numbers are growing up; but I have to say "thank YOU" very very much.
Mount fuji was breath taking. Never seen it this magestic. I like your reviews. You dont talk or spend too much time with pointless pointing or looking around. Some day I ll get over my fear of heights 😭
Great trip, and yes, it's on sleeper bus. In my country, the term of sleeper bus is, the seat nearly laying down (maybe 140-160°) and they have partition like Capsule hotel. When I see the price and converted to my local currency, looks expensive (how weak my local currency is), sleeper in my country maybe around $20-$40, depends the distance, and they also have free meal in selected restaurant when resting, but I think it's reasonable price in Japan, and looks cheaper than Shinkansen.
Wow! Mt. Fuji was amazing!! Absolutely breathtaking! And I really enjoyed our chat with Light Polution! Light Pollution was so helpful in pointing out the lovely sights of the mountain! 👍🗻⛩
So many good ideas in Japan. Greyhound should watch this. I took a bus from. NY to FL in 1998-ish. The experience was a nightmare. So many stops & bus changes all night. The busses were filthy & crowded. Never did that again. I would in Japan after watching this.
Try Greyhound in the early ‘70’s. Little over 400 mi from Jacksonville NC to the s. central PA area. 14 hr of (seemed like) every town. I don’t recall 95 being completely done so it was off-on, off-on. 14 hr seemed like 14 days.

First rule of travel (of any kind!): Always pack a jacket ... Even in Summer. My parents learnt that one when they travelled to South Australia, mid-summer for Christmas many years ago. It SNOWED! It's not meant to snow anywhere down there during Summer! Lesson: always pack a jacket!
So true! At 21 a girlfriend and I celebrated graduation by spending a month touring the UK. It was July so we packed for summer. The very first thing we did was go to Marks and Spencer to buy wool sweaters. And in Scotland, we still half froze to death.
Had to laugh at the combination of the mask, sleep mask, and the glasses - you looked like the title character of that old movie "The Invisible Man" 😂.
Strange that the Japanese Railways run sleeper buses but at the same time have cut their sleeping train network down to about 4 services however the sleeping bus would suggest that there's clearly a market for overnight travel.
Might be because running a sleeper train is quite pricey compared to bus, and shinkansen practically runs anywhere now (apart from very remote area, tho). Running an empty train is more painful than a barely filled bus
Sleeper busses are waaay more affordable to your average Japanese. Travel busses in general are still popular since they are so much cheaper than shinkansen or other long-distance train rides.
The toilet on the coach is so clean! You wouldn't dare use a toilet on a British coach because there would be toilet paper on the floor, the toilet itself wouldn't have been flushed and as for hand soap to wash your hands. That's as rare as Norwich City football club winning the Premier League.
