It is a capsule hotel with many free offerings.
Rice, miso soup, eggs, drinks, ice cream, etc. are free.
It's close to downtown Kyoto, so it's a great place for a long stay!

In Japan, it is customary to eat raw eggs over rice. Therefore, eggs distributed in Japan are sanitized so that they are safe to eat raw.
3. Cleanliness of common areas 03:27
Hotel staff regularly cleaned common areas and shared items such as massage chairs.
4. Flushing Sound Effect 08:49
This is not limited to this hotel, but many toilets in Japan are equipped with such facilities. We can use it to cover our pee sound with its water sound. Many Japanese people feel embarrassed about their pee sound, so they use it to protect their own pride.
5. Sleeping Pods 09:15
Capsule rooms are not equipped with locks. However, there are surveillance cameras outside the capsule rooms to ensure your safety. There are no cameras inside the capsule rooms, so privacy is also ensured.

Yes. please see 01:52. But this building is completely gender segregated. The pink part in the map is for women and the blue one is for men. We need the barcode key to enter the women area.

As an American, it's almost impossible to watch this and not make comparisons between Japan and the US. We could never have something like this because so many people would abuse EVERYTHING. I love the fact that this exists in Japan and that people can follow directions, keep things neat and organized and be respectful of their surroundings. I can't wait to visit one day. Thanks for this awesome video!
Oh 100%. I work breakfast at a best western and its horrible how some people act. They make huge messes, leave the mini fridge open, leave their trash on the counters and sometimes people put back their half eaten yogurts? As if someone wants it?
you cant deny that some of it is a bit creepy though. I couldn't imagine sleeping in the Capsule Room, which looks like military barracks and with a giant ass camera watching me sleep
@@golpop I feel like the camera is reassuring in some regards. Like if someone tried to mess with you or your belongings while you sleep, it'd be easier to get police to take care of the matter since there would be proof.

A hotel like this can only exist in a country with polite, intelligent and social people. The entire concept of the hotel depends on people not taking advantage of it. And it seems to work in japan which is pretty amazing.
This can only happen in a homogeneous high trust society, not multicultural societies.
You could have this in the USA, except that everything would have to come from vending machines so people couldn't steal extra. Although this assumes a capsule hotel would be popular and a viable business when most Americans are used to having their own rooms. You'd also have a noise problem for the same reason, and because of fat people with sleep apnea and snoring.
I think it would have to start out as only one floor of a hotel and a cheap alternative to the normal room. If it was popular and viable they could expand it in the future. From a 2016 article I found, most hotels are dropping amenities like pools, smoking rooms, room service, and spas. Although gyms were increasing in popularity. What better way to bring back a bunch of amenities than to lower costs with capsules?
@@remyllebeau77 I dont know about america but if you had a hotel like this with free alcohol here in Germany, people would bring plastic bottles and fill them up with whiskey. Sadley, we cant have nice things like this.
@@TH-fw1zb Yeah, that's why I said almost everything has to come from a vending machine. You can still give freebies if you have the right technology that recognize which keycard has been used at which machine per day.
This would be a good experiment to see if a hotel like this could exist in the US & it doesn't matter the culture, race, it would depend on the individual attitude & kindness of heart.
The fact that this model of hotel can even exist, proves how polite, considerate, cultured, quiet and thoughtful Japanese people are. I look forward to returning to Japan very soon.

No it's possible but we would have to start first with trying to help the lowest in our society to give them the things they need so they don't have to hang out and destroy things at places like this! The laws that govern society in Japan are much different and if we change our laws here we could eventually have that too! But we won't cuz we practice predatory capitalism here

Honestly, it feels like a great short-term solution if you're trying to find a new place to live, but nothing's available in the area you want or the price range you want, so you put away what belongings you have into storage and live there for awhile as you look.

I absolutely love when people here don’t abuse the trust. I saw you take off your shoes, do tasks quietly, and put things back where they actually go. Thank you for keeping the trust and cleanliness of this place. I love people who trust and people who don’t abuse that trust. Because then we all get things like this and hopefully more in the future!
And that is exactly why this works in Japan but wouldn't in many other countries. The vast majority of Japanese people behave in the same respectful way

Hey lily! Don’t let the person being ‘honest for only honesty’s sake’ get to you. I’m glad we can enjoy the video. It’s an interesting hotel and so well preserved. I know many people who have things like this but in different forms such as take one leave one libraries and food pantries and they all require trust.

I stayed at a capsule hotel in Tokyo 3 years ago at Shinjuku, $26 a night, that one had a little bar and restaurant that make hot food 24/7. most people there are office workers and some backpackers, the library had rows and rows of books and manga. and the sleeping quarter was quiet like a tomb
it was surreal and tranquil, i don't think i would go to a real hotel anymore for $85.
I think if capsule hotel exist in America, it would probably look like a detention center or a homeless shelter 😂😂😂
oh, the one i stayed at you need to pay for food and drink, but it was like $6 for a delicious hot donbori meal and $2 for Asahi Draft beer

It could be done simply by putting a lock on the door between the floors of the hotel and the main lobby. Nobody can get in without a simple room card key.

Time to move to Japan
Went to Japan for the first time in 2020 and can confirm it almost feels alien in it's pride and respect of it's country and people. Holding a flag and chanting your countries name is not patriotism. True patriotism is love of your country and all it's people, and respecting that country and people. Japan has it down pretty perfectly. (there are negatives like attitudes towards immigrants and women but it's rather insidious)

Staying in this hotel for a month would only have one drawback: I might end up becoming an alcoholic, because my monkey mind would interpret 3 drinks limit as a must have 3 drinks per night

Can you imagine a hotel in somewhere like NYC trying to offer a foot bath 5 feet from the sidewalk?? Imagine the crazy people who would just sleep in there and make a mess of the bath and take the towels?? It’s amazing Japan can offer this type of thing safely and cleanly.

Amazing video! I can’t believe they only charge $320 a month. Especially when they offer all of the free stuff, and amenities. You can’t even get a nice hotel for 3 days at $320, and that’s not including food. A lot of people in USA would steal everything they could, and not think twice about the person coming behind them. Obviously you don't travel much. I have been to so many hotels which offer free breakfast. Not once have I ever seen someone running off with the toasters, waffle machines, boxes of cereal, or juice machines. Get real, fool.

What I admire about the Japanese people is how outstanding their cleanliness is ,not a drop of litter and spotless toilets, another thing is how they respect the food sections and drink stations and only take what they need ,I absolutely believe I'd this was here in the UK it would be trashed and misused .I totally could live full time in a capsule hotel like this full time ,I love the idea of having a lovely sleeping room so cosy and clean I have no worries about being scared ,I love small spaces to be in like this ,I am so impressed by the cleanliness,only thing I don't think I'd like is a raw egg with rice haha but over all am obsessed with watching videos like this x

Here in the U.S. I stayed at the Hilton and paid for an expensive beach front suite. The water glasses were dirty, the floor was wet on the inside near the balcony, the coffee maker was old and malfunctioning, towels were dingy, and the very diverse staff were quite indifferent to my wife and I. If I were at a Hotel 6 paying a hundred bucks a night I would expect some of that, but my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and thought paying four hundred a night would make our trip memorable. It did, in the worst way.

If all of Japan was like this I would learn Japanese and move there immediately. It's baffling and inspiring that so many free amenities could be laid out and everyone is so respectful and dignified. In America you could put this in the nicest neighborhood in the country and within the first week you would have people filling their purses with the "free" shit and absolutely milking as much out of it as possible, regardless of waste and without regard for the other guests.

I am from Greece (yes that country) and I admire Japan so much! This video made me want to go there for a month and be happy, safe and explore Kyoto. This hotel is impossible for the rest of the world....lost for words.
After watching this I plan on visiting Japan and now I know that I can afford to stay a while and really see the country. How lovely to be able to sleep amidst quiet...in the US there is always someone slamming a door or talking loudly in the hallway and as for the price, so much less. I look forward to trying this out. As someone who stayed in hotel suites here in the US, I can vouch for that.
I am mesmerized. In Japan people are so well educated, polite, rule observers and clean. Just by looking at how much their streets are clean I understand why they deserve to have such nice things
I worked at an all night gas station 711 style and also as a custodian for the downtown parking garage/ bus transit terminus. Both in the US Midwest. I assure you that there is no way the American mindset could deal with a place like this. Even the preacher's wife would be scoffing free hairspray, razors, and taking home slippers. As far as the food, have you ever been to Golden Coral when they line up at the trough? Stay classy Japan.
Years ago, I worked in a factory where we built commercial cooking equipment.
I had never been to a "Golden Corral".
We received a range returned from Golden Corral. They said the oven door wouldn't close. When we opened the door, there was so much CRUD caked
on the gasket that, indeed, the door would not close! When we pulled out
the oven bottom, we found a dead rat underneath!
Folks are so quiet and respectful in Japan. I could get used to living over there very easily. Thank you for posting this video.

If this were in the UK, the free to borrow things, like charging cables, would either be alarmed or super glued into the wall. There's so much trust in the customers at this hotel!
If this hotel were in the UK the charging cables and accessories might still be in place (Only because they're concreted into the wall) but the mattresses, bed linen and televisions would have all vanished after the first week of business... 🇬🇧💸😉

Here, Americans, read this:
1. He’s obviously filming mostly in the middle of the day, so the hotel is empty because people are out working or doing activities. Presumably he did this intentionally to avoid bothering people.
2. Eggs are treated in Japan with a cleaning agent before going to market, so eating them raw is entirely safe and common.
3. Basic foods in Japan are quite cheap. It’s not uncommon to get a big bowl of ramen with pork and egg for about 600 yen (about $5). People in Japan won’t stuff themselves on free food so the costs of the free stuff is probably around $5 a day per guest. Japanese businesses aren’t burdened with nearly the regulations and taxes as the US, so they don’t need as high of margins. With a large number of guests in a small footprint, this hotel will do just fine.
It would be wonderful to own one.

My brother and father live in Japan for last 33 years I just met them once. They are totally different from us. So well mannered tidy and soft spoken. By the way.. I tried seeing your face in the entire vlogs but I had no success. Thank you for showing Japan to the world.. I can now talk better with my family❤❤❤
Outstanding. I’m extremely impressed w the cleanliness, the different set ups, for food, bathing, plus the multiple food and drink offerings. And most of all the respect you exhibited. Even at my age of 68 I’d treat myself to that concept. And the beautiful temples, clean streets. IDE love to visit.
The Anshin Oyado is my go-to place when ever I am in Kyoto! Always clean, friendly, great amenities, and close to many of the premier locales in Kyoto... This is a must stay for the individual traveler/explorer of Japan!

Sorry Clarence, most capsule hotels are for individuals, not couples. I am not sure of capsules that cater to couples, but I can recommend some great Onsen that cater to couples and families.

I love how quiet and empty it is. I'd enjoy the atmosphere so much.
Imagine if hospitals had this service or if this service opened near hospitals so parents and older children can stay close to their loved ones when they're committed into the hospital! Like having your family stay in the building across for cheap while you're in labor or something like that
This capsule hotel is not well known even among Japanese. I was very surprised when I first found it. It is a little more expensive than other capsule hotels, but much cheaper than ordinary hotels, and very cost-effective. Definitely recommended. The beds are much larger than those in other capsule hotels, there are several kinds of shampoos and treatments, even though it is a hotel for men, there are many kinds of lotion, milky lotion, toothpaste, perfume, deodorant for clothes and even pillows to choose from.
This hotel is part of a chain, and in addition to Kyoto, there are also branches in Tokyo and Nagoya. At the Ogikubo branch in Tokyo, you can see the crowds in the public baths and restaurants from your bedroom, which was also convenient, and the free food was curry, which was delicious.

It is for both men and women, you can clearly see it in floor plan. Women area is totally separated from men. No hanky-panky allowed LOL
@@AKUJIVALDO Ah, you are right, the Oyado in Kyoto and Nagoya can accommodate women. I am not a woman, but I think it is a clean capsule hotel with contents that women would also like very much.
i stayed here Anshin Oyado for 7 nights last week! i must say the accommodation and utilities included are worth the price, i got it for like almost Y5,000 per night via Agoda. as the establishment is at the center of Akihabara
Japan seems like a great place to live. A modern, clean country filled with good people.
I’ve only been to japan once. Tokyo. It was really good. What really stuck with me was how organized and clean everywhere was. Absolutely immaculate streets and everything.
My Aunt is from Kyoto and recently moved back after spending 40 plus years in America (San Fran and Philadelphia). She is a Urasenke tea master who led traditional tea ceremonies in Philadelphia. Kyoto looks like a nice place to visit.

I haven’t been to Japan in 20 years. I was there for a month and did visit Kyoto. I’m inspired to return and take my teenager. I forgot the lovely sensibility and respect, cleanliness and tranquility of Japan. 💛✨

Wow! How amazing and generous that this hotel offers so many complimentary things and everyone is so respectful and clean! I have never visited Japan but now I would like to. It seems like a very good culture.
I'm always kinda shocked when you buy drinks and they only appear to be 6-8 ounces per serving. In the USA drinks are 12-16 ounces, always with the option to go bigger.
I live in the UK and am homeless... I've always wanted to go to Japan. I love the culture, this place truly looks like heaven on earth. Perhaps one day I will make it to Kyoto.

@Deacon Gowan, why do you think it's communist? Nobody is making anyone stay in a capsule hotel. It's just way more affordable than a traditional hotel.

There's too much greed,injustice and disrespect to open up something like that in America.
No privacy, gross food that will give you food poisoning, and a shoe box you can’t stand up in.
People flock to our hotels in places like Vegas that gives you much better amenities and an actual room, no one is flocking to this shit hole.

If it was the same punishment in the US we might not have the problems we do. But with essentially a slap on the wrist of course our crime is higher. I've lived in both Red and Blue states and cities, and have never seen anything remotely like in this video.

It's one of the most Morally and Ethically Corrupt Nation. A Nation with a low Moral standard could never accomplish what Japan has accomplished.

I stayed here for a day in 2019 and I LOVED every moment of it. Was also the first time I stayed in a capsule hotel too!

I would guess the patron's portion of each food is included in the price of the room.
its cool they include it but its all super cheap stuff, rice and egg, small sandwiches, cheap booze yeah wouldnt be that expensive really
@@tgshark1 It's cool for those that would use it all. For people that don't drink alcohol or if they don't like eating one raw egg on rice, they are paying for stuff they don't use. Turn that rice into fried rice with scrambled egg and a few bits of chicken breast, and I would have that every day of the week.

People automatically assume that it’s so inexpensive when in fact it’s a very high price and obviously no matter how clean it appears, but I can imagine the people if they stay there would absolutely wreck their health long term! Japanese are known for their preference of privacy because they are statistically on average population of elderly people. Think about 40% of the elderly population who probably still prefer rural areas as the the only the young population is forced to share tiny flats en masse as they study and work at all hours in the city and live inside their universities and workplaces and don’t have time to utilize such locales and more likely would stay over on holidays or breaks. But even those folks have to return back to the farm or family homes to care for their aged parents and relatives whom they likely support. I can imagine why the birthdate is terribly low here, because the culture is so highly developed -in fact over developed, that they have to invent machines for their service jobs for basic survival. And they are so overly open about sex in their anime culture that I can see the major repression on the subject. But this is merely my idea of the society there and not an opinion just based on my personal study of the country itself as I am obsessed with anthropology and sociology. Places like Japan and Sweden are so oddly similar in their isolated nature yet see how totally opposite but both are identical in their love of nature and nurture like yen and yang. It’s really remarkable how they manage to be so green and to keep clean and recycle. Cleanliness is after all key in good health, good appearance, and not materialistic but aimed at a balance in life comfort. Used to be everyone wanted a Swiss bank account and to retire on beachfront mansions but now they are spending less on housing and cars and soooo much more on comfort and how to be as lazy as possible. They have figured out how that Rolex third copies are just junk and hopefully they will go back to family life as it used to be rather than killing their children to retire in obscurity! I see this is off topic but more and more of an issue that modern science is overpopulating the planet and the sick are getting sicker but living in misery longer and longer! Who will be left to care for them if the robots malfunction or tomorrow we lose internet???? Is anyone thinking forward? I don’t see it happening and this really worries me. A disturbing pattern and now pandemic, wars, and slavery is what we are only seeing! Less and less US and so much more ME. So much that we are losing our self awareness and identity socially and becoming so isolated that laws are systematically corrupt all across the board except for remote locations like Siberia and it has to change soon and come to world peace if we want to see our children have children of their own in future! Ok off my speech now!!!! I just theorize and philosophize all day so what do I know, though? Love from the Wild West in the USA. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Your right it would be nice until corporate America dip there fingers into the business and up the monthly rates to 600 + a month. Look at every style homes from tiny homes to even a trailer or apartment. They skyrocketed every housing price to become unaffordable. Don’t bring that concept to us, someone will use the concept of happy living to unrealistic to all walks of life except the rich.
If this were in the USA it would be a disgusting place to sleep, no where near what you see here. I would not feel safe sleeping in one of these in America.

The more I watch these kinds of videos, the more I make a few comparisons between an American Hotel and Japanese Hotel, I think it’s beautiful and considerate that everyone can keep the lounge area neat and clean. I definitely want to travel to Japan one day. Either alone, with a liver or friend
So, you get (a very small but comfortable) room, board, booze, and other nice amenities for about USD $10 per day! This sounds like heaven to me. There simply isn't anything here in the United States that even remotely compares to this affordable level of high hospitality.

I loved watching this video. Sadly this concept would never work in the US. I stay at a casino hotel for a few nights for free that offers free breakfast and its hilarious watching people pocket tea, hot chocolate and sugar packs that are left out.
The rest of the world could learn a thing or more from this country! Most definitely my favorite country I’ve visited. Loved everything about it 🫶☺️

Very impressed with how clean everything in the hotel was. You could never have that in the US. Especially not an open bar, on the honor system. It would be wiped out in less than an hour. This hotel is awesome and the free amenities are unbelievable. I want to go there.
That is an awsome hotel, loving it. As a german I am very happy with the efficency of these capsule hotels espcially when they communalize bathingspace and such, whilst still providing some personal space. If there was a hotel like this in germany it would be highly popular with young people, espcially apprentices and people who study due to the pricing making it actually affordable living space, something not very common in german cities. (Espcially thoose that feature Universities or major employers.)
german education system is weird. i heard only people who went to gym can go to universities, and a large bunch goes to apprenticeship and wont go uni. for a country that priortise STEM fields, why does so many people goes to apprenticeship instead of uni and people are ok with that? also is it true that all german unis have no rankings, as long as your result is ok you can enter any uni?

the ambience and amenities at this hotel is too good to be true. imagine an international chain purchasing this hotel and jacking the price really high. i used to travel quite a bit through thailand and there was a small local-chain that offered incredible value to its customers. a few years later, it was bought up; the quality nose-dived and the price went up, up up. great video .. domo arigatou
Amazing Japan! 💖👍 That's all I can say. 🥰 Their hospitality, their outstanding respect, their tidiness, their punctuality, and discipline makes me so comfortable and secured to enjoy even the simplest amenities within the place. I think I would loved to stay in Japan for good just to experience all these fun and unique pleasures.

I came across this video on my UA-cam feed and was like wait this place looks familiar and it was because I've stayed here before back in early 2020 before borders were shut. This place was the best capsule hotel/spa that I got to experience and I would go back again

The capsule hotel was all so clean, quiet and subdued with lovely food and really everything you would need.............even for a long stay.
Although there was no locking door there was the pull-down partition which was good.

If capsule hotels existed in America I'd actually be able to afford to travel.
If this existed in America it would shut down by end of week. The culture doesn't support giving benefit of the doubt the people will take care of the hotel and refrain from abusing it.

This hotel was one of the best I've ever seen. All those amenities! That's unimaginable in the west. People would rob the place blind in a day. So nice to know this exists. An excellent video. Liked and subscribed. Looking forward to more of your videos.
We'd have to have everything come from vending machines to keep people from stealing extra.
