How I Made Ancient Battles... in Blender! (Breakdown)

  • In this breakdown video, I go over the techniques and workflows of building one of the biggest battle shots for my Heroes of Bronze shortfilm.
    From deconstructing the environment, to showing my character assets, Rokoko mocap recording, compositing, and more - I go over every single element that it consisted of.
    This is not a step-by-step tutorial, rather a breakdown - but if you have any questions, or if you want me to break down a specific shot or technique in the future, definitely let me know in the comments! :-)

      Haha, its basically a failure to find a more streamlined B3D->AAE import option, but Ive been using it for years 😀

    I think it might be an add-on that adds the export>after effects as jsx, but I found it worked perfectly once you set the scale at 10 instead of 100 in the jsx export settings. With some empties I think it's the fastest way to place 3d layers exactly where you want in Ae in one click with the 3d cursor in blender, just copy pasting the position value once in Ae.

    This is so mind blowing! I want to use a clip from the battle scene (about 1-2 sec) in my book trailer that I am trying to put together. Can you please tell how can I do that (i.e. what permissions etc will I require)? Thank you!

      Thank you, but sorry, since I use these to promote my own historical fiction, I don’t want the shots used for other stories, hope you understand…

    Great insight video! Thanks so much for sharing... just one question, why adding weapons and armor directly in Blender and not bring them from iClone, along the character?

    • @MartinKlekner
      @MartinKlekner  11 місяців тому

      I made my own weapon and armor in Blender, and I put together my scenes in Blender. Therefore, I wanted it to put everything together there, importing to iClone would be redundant. :-)

    Great job..and I will try to work on the same mechanism, but I will replace the blender with an unreal engine....CAN I ?
    AND What is your opinion and comments?

    • @MartinKlekner

      Oh yes, definitely, you can, but I have no experience with Unreal. But it is very popular and a good choice of a software to learn.

    I notice hair gets messed up when I transfer my character to Blender. The strands look like snapped lines instead of smooth curves like in iClone. Any way I could fix that?

      UA-cam algorithm prefers stupid, clickbait titles, low value videos rather than quality videos which are becoming rarer on UA-cam nowdays.
