One point you didn't mention at the flywheel. Some engines are externally balanced, so it is a good idea to mark the flywheel bolt hole to crank bolt hole. If you don't plan to reuse the crank, this is less important. You should also check the turbo for signs of oil starvation in this specific case as the bearing would seem to indicate an oiling issue.
Some other notes: You can also remove the radiator to give you more clearance. It's also advised to NOT remove the trans on RWD/AWD unless you're swapping or working on it, too, but it's fine either way. Use diesel for cleaning parts and grease. It's cheap and it's extremely effective at dissolving that crap. There are lots of while-you're-in-there improvements to make, such as removing rough casting ridges in the head and the block and port the heads to improve airflow and performance.

Tip for you home mechanics for organizing nuts and bolts. Fishing tackle boxes. This is awesome, I love engine rebuilds!
I know this video is two years old, but I can almost guarantee the fact that you spun a bearing is the lack of the oiling issue with the RB’s coupled along with the fact that race bearings were used race bearings are good for their application but to be honest I’ve seen so many people spin bearings at 3000 RPMs I just built the motor and it’s because those bearings are built to get very hot very quickly and then cool down there not for sustained long high rpm use for an extended period of time if you’re going to street drive vehicle like this and bring it to the track or anything along those lines high quality Street bearings are always the way to go, unless you’re building a specific vehicle for a specific reason like stated then you are better off using those race bearings😊
Please keep this segment going, I’m hoping to be in my RB25 build in the next year and any and all content is greatly appreciated. Awesome video.

Coolant : NOTED!
19:23 I like how Zach put the Silvias bumper in front of the Miata
This is the RB content I've always wanted. Good stuff
It's another Money Pit Wednesday (a.k.a. entertainment at Zach's expense)!!!
me working on ship engines and looking at this video: WHY IS THAT HARMONIC BALANCER SO SMALl?!?!?!?
I think it’s because the inline 6 is a perfectly balanced engine. Primary and secondary forces that is.
@@dogchainsaw3923 Inline 4 gang!
@@Apollo5752353 inline 5 gang 😎
@@dogchainsaw3923 Hurr meh 160 hrsprs Inline 4 ish better than yo shitty Inline 5!
I actually was surprised that it had one to start
I’ve been waiting for Silvia content. It’s just a shame it had to be broken
It's sad for Zach but makes for great content. I'd never seen an engine get disassembled before!
@@triculious well, you are on youtube now, use it!
Such an informative yet therapeutic episode. Can't wait for more!
Yooooooo sick episode! I work in the industry and must say, you guys make car stuff so approachable to the average person. Love you guys at donut HQ, keep it up the good work.
where the continuation for this RB25, been searching for it
When is the follow up to this coming back?
Where’s the next video?!?! I can’t find it. I’m dying to know what happened!!!
Tip for you home mechanics for organizing nuts and bolts. Fishing tackle boxes. Pick up a few tackle boxes that are divided into little chambers and you can throw in nuts and bolts and get a marker to write on the lid to tell yourself what bolts went where. Best $20 you can spend and sure beats using ziploc bags or beer pong cups.
I'd just like to say, as a veteran, it makes me happy and prideful to see my fellow Americans grow and mature. Take on challenges and Adapt n Overcome. (PS RB's can be a trick to find a primo block, and the oiling system usually needs a lot of touching up and optimizing... but they are sooo worth it when then run good)
What does any of this have to do with you being a Vet? Sorry, but i lack context
@@theiridiumgamer5225 Being motivated, learning instead of giving up. Becoming more intuitive and situationally aware. What I was saying nutshell, is I'm a bit bothered by a large portion of folks who won't find solutions, spend time complaining or trolling, or just give up.
@@josephmatuszak3855 Well that's what happens when you constantly compare yourself to fakes on the Internet, and decide to give up rather than have a chance of failure.
Our generation were taught that everyone is a winner and that it's okay to be a loser, instead of actually trying your best and possibly winning
@@theiridiumgamer5225 I just don't look at life thru win or lose, rather what you decide to value, and how you go about nurturing it.
